I began in the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. I beg of his mercy. I ask Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala to make us amongst those people who are loved by the Almighty and make us the true believers, the possessor of this faith. I send salutations upon the chosen one, Muhammad, his companions, his family members, and those who follow their footsteps until the day of resurrection.
Respected brothers and sisters, Salaam alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh. Indeed, Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala, Allah the Almighty, has given us many great things and bounties and blessings that we have that we enjoy, that we use. And every single day, as we are utilizing, using, benefiting from these great things that we that is around us, from the environment to the places that we visit, to our words, to our means of provisions, and to our families. All of these are great blessings of the Almighty. And of course, when Allah the Almighty gives things to the people, he also wants people to utilize them in a way that is most pleasing to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala. Otherwise, a person's life becomes miserable. Conditions and problems become as part of his life, and he's not able to enjoy whatever God has given him. And the means becomes because he is not appreciating the blessings and the brain and the mercy of God, and he is not understanding the responsibilities that Allah has given him along with providing him with this blessing.
The month of October is a month known regards to the awareness of domestic violence. And this is a very sensitive subject because many of times people are not even admitting the mistakes that they commit. So as might you know, we finish this hot bar by the end of the day. I probably make some friends and on the other side, make some enemies also. But regardless of to both, what needs to be understood is the message needs to be delivered. The subject needs to be addressed. Pros and cons needs to be put forward. Neither I'm in a position to only cater to you what you like, nor you should be in a position to only incline listening towards the things that you like. All of us are here to make our life better. All of us listen to the Friday ceremony that we can take some benefit, we can take some lessons, and maybe we can implement it into our daily life to wait to make it better, to make it more peaceful, to make it more comfortable.
Because Allah mentions that anything, any type of calamity that comes in the life of any individual is due to his or her own action. Whereas Allah is concerned, the Almighty, the most merciful, he has given us that choice to adapt the path which will bring tranquility and peace in our life, and also we have the choice to adapt that path which can make life difficult for us. So when we hear something, and again, my point is not to address or to point fingers at individual's behavior. Now, my main motive is to give us the understand and everyone can be judged for their own selves, either if they are amongst the positive aspects of it, or they are amongst the negative aspects of it. And no, no one has the right to point finger at anyone for their behavior. It's the individual himself needs to realize and fix it for himself, for his own better man, because he has to give answer to the Almighty for his own action, or for her own action.
The act of domestic domestic violence, we all confine it to physical abuse, and we all can find it to only one gender. But this is a very broad subject. It has a great abroad meaning to it. It covers many aspects of it. 35% of the female gender in this world, they are somehow exposed to some kind of abuse, some kind of violence in their life. 22% of men are also the victim. So it's not just confined to one gender, and it's not only confined to one ethnicity, one background, one family aspect. No, it's a disease which is found generally everywhere. And indeed, the efforts of correcting and finding the cure of it, the efforts in regards to this are very little. And even going into the aspect of finding a cure, remember, prevention is better than cure. To stop it from happening, that's a responsibility of every believer. To stop it from gaining coming into existence, that's a better move than finding a solution after it had happened. Because these are things that are so delicate that sometimes no matter what type of cures you provide to it, it can never be the same. And since it involves individuals, families, children, woman, when it involves a collective matter of human being, a collective group of human being, and after it is broken, it is very difficult to get him back together. This is why that awareness needs to create it.
And this was one of the greatest messages that Allah soon sallallahu alayhi wasallam gave after he received the message from the Almighty. And in fact, the message that he left the Ummah with at the time of his demise was confined into two things. Asada Lamar Malekith. A man who the last advice of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, before he departed from this world was that be mindful of the obligation of Allah, which is the most important one is the prayers, your five times daily prayers. And after that, the responsibilities that have come on your shoulder, be mindful of that. Because on the day of judgment, if you are not fulfilling the responsibilities that Allah has given you in this world, in fact, you will be in a great fault, and you will have a very miserable situation. You'll have a very difficult situation.
So Islam did not just only come to tell you how to pray, or how many times of day you have to pray. Islam came to teach you a way of life. It brought respect and honor for every gender. Abusing them in any way was not tolerated any time in the history. In fact, this was the problem that was found very much in the early days. And Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, it along with his mission to deliver the message of Allah, he was making the effort to rectify the characters of individuals, to make them better human beings.
A matter of the Allahu I knew, who was the companion of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and also the second Khalifa. And this narration is found in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. And it's a very lengthy narration which is narrated by Abdullah IBN Abbas, of the Allahu one who heard it directly from Umar al-Khattab, who narrates his own hands into his own story. I'm not going to go into the full detail of this narration because it's a very lengthy narration. Just a point that I want to discuss, which is relevant to the subject that I have chosen for today's topic at today's hot about.
Umar al-Khattab, radi Allahu anhu, says that one day my wife and I, we got into an argument. And after we got into an argument, she's starting to reply back to me on the things that I said to her. And that made me very amazed. Why Cunanan oh mashallah curation lalab nihalani Serena for da attend el modena tah rowena iguana and solve the liberal humanism. We were the people of Quraish, we were very dominant upon our wives. We used to impose upon them, and there was not a single word that will come from their mouth. And if someone was to speak, they will see circumstances and conditions and consequences. But when we migrated to Medina, the people of Medina, they were very lenient in this relationship. They had a very lenient conversation, and they would get to an argument, they will come to a solution because the argument will be both ways. It's not just one person pondering upon the other individual. Flatterfit on Aneesa Anna photo/phelan ISA Anna. So our women is starting to learn from the big women of Medina. And after they starting to learn, they start also proving their point. And there's nothing wrong with it. If you're not mistaken, someone is telling you made a mistake, you have your point, you have your right to prove it.
So no matter the Allahu I know, when he became very shocked and said, how can you reply back to me? My wife said to me, then don't you know that the Prophet's wife also reply back to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam? Her mother said that shocked me more, because one of the wives of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam was the daughter of Umar, Hafsa. And then he said, this Hafsa, as this also said, yes, Hafsa, as it also. So immediately Umar forgot about his own conversation with his wife. He went to the house of Hafsa, radi Allahu anha. Not that the dole came inside. I heard the news that you reply back to the Prophet, so said, yes, I do, because Prophet has given me that right. You talk about Islam in the house. You talk about that. Because a lot of times, and this is the same scenario, because a lot of people, they grew up in back home, and they come here. Well, you know, in my country where I grew up, women don't do this. When women don't do this, or they don't reply back. Well, you're not in your country anymore. Except the fact, number one, number two is you need to understand what Islam says, not what your country says, not what your culture says. Because Islam is there to perfect, is to give you life, is to give right to every individual.
So immediately Umar al-Khattab, radi Allahu anhu, went to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And what she said, what he said to his own wife, that our wives were influenced by the wives of Medina, by the wives of the people of Medina. He came to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and repeated the same thing. What did the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say? Or less Rannoch, let's run a campaign where women don't have right to say anything. No, for the best Simon, maybe used sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The Prophet smiled at him. Smiling is only curve that makes everything right. Smile is the only curve that makes everything right. So the brothers are sent me smile. And he repeated again, maybe solemnly smiled. And then Umar al-Khattab, but what right Islam has given to this, this relationship? And what type of controlling individual needs to have? Because there are many things that happen, and many people are part of it, religious people. And as I told you earlier, that my point is not to point fingers, because in the past week, every single day, I was dealing with some of these situations. And I was never inclined to do this. Hood, not because of that, no. It's just that the awareness needs to be created. And prevention is better than cure. We need to stop it ourselves. And when we see it happening, we need to stop it. Because the abuse goes on two different aspects, physical, emotional, verbal, and all of this is condemned by Islam. Islam doesn't allow all of this. No. And whatever you have adopted, people have adopted from back home, how to treat and how to go and how to monitor and how to dominate and how to be a controlling freak in the house. That all needs to come out. Every individual has their own personal life that name, they need to be given room to live in. You need to have that breathing space. And we're taking that breathing space away from them.
Now, Islam never came to to diminish, never came to take away rights of people. Islam came to give rights to people. So I'm going to give you what you have to know. Islam gave to give you what honor Allah has given you to live on earth. You're not here as a servant. The only service you need to provide is to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala. Of course, there are responsibilities and rights that every relationship has, but that line and that border and then that defining needs to take place.
So later on in the life of Umar al-Khattab, radi Allahu anhu, at the time when he became the leader, he appointed Mu'adh ibn Jabal, radi Allahu anhu, to go and collect the the mandatory charity from people, which can be distributed amongst the poor. So Mu'adh ibn Jabal collected that money, came back, gave it to the Bait al-Mal, the Treasuries of the Muslims. Came back home, and the wife is waiting at the door. And she says to Mu'adh ibn Jabal, that other people, when they go to collect government funds from other individuals, they also bring something back. Because as they go to other areas for collection, people give them some kind of gifts, an honorarium for collection, whatever. But your bags are empty. I was expecting something inside them. Mu'adh ibn Jabal replied to his wife, for in the island year, a t-bone your alimony. There was a person who was there, was someone watching me at all time. So I wasn't able to collect anything for myself. I gave everything to the charity, to the treasuries of the Muslims. Conversation finished.
Next day, his wife goes to the wife of Umar's house. Wife goes to the wife of Umar. Don't you know who's Mu'adh? So the wife of Umar said, of course, we know who Mu'adh ibn Jabal is. He's a great companion of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He's the most person who has the greatest knowledge. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam made him were responsible for for many cities. So how come is that that the Prophet was able and Allah trusted this individual, but your husband doesn't trust him? So what happened? He went for collection. He sent another individual over here. More I've used this terminology. There was no one that was sent by Umar to put her put an eye on life. Why has used this terminology that Allah was watching me? Allah is watching me. For in the a layer of people, Iacoboni. Allah was watching me when I was doing this. So I didn't, you know, I didn't take anything for myself. But the wife understood that Umar has appointed someone to watch over him. So she goes and fights with the wife of Umar. And then wife of Umar, sister, I'm not what handbook for individual you are. While is a very nice person. The Prophet even, you know, trusted him. How come you don't have trust on him? Mrs. What are you talking about? When you send him over there to collect the wealth, how come you sent another individual to spy on him and see if he's doing everything right? I didn't send anybody. Who do? What are you talking about? So now the wife communicates to the wife of Mu'adh. Then why have the alarms in trouble? So Mu'adh ibn Jabal, radi Allahu anhu, finds out that this communication has taken place. He goes to her home. Already a live one who said, look, my brother, you know, my wife confronted me at front of the door, where is the thing? And I told him, you know, this as well. But this is what I intended for the best. Summer Amir al-Mu'minin, Umar al-Khattab, radi Allahu anhu, is starting to smile. And he put his hand in his pocket, took out some money, and says, go buy a gift for your wife. And tell him, tell her that this is from Umar. This was a relationship in the house.
So when that action was corrected, later on, when these people had authority, they carried out the same action. They gave the same understanding. They gave the same type of behavior. And that made family pure. That brought responsibilities on the shoulder. Once Umar al-Khattab, radi Allahu anhu, was lying, and his kids were playing. So a person came to talk. And you know what happens many times? It happens. I have a small kid. Sometimes he comes with me. I'm having a conversation with someone. He started making noise. So these kids were making noise while this individual was having a conversation. He was appointed as a governor of an area. And he was having a very intense communication, a subtype of a consultation with Umar, radi Allahu anhu. And when these kids were playing and they're starting to make noise, and this person got angry and looked at the kids, be quiet. Don't you know we're talking here? A mother, the Allahu anhu, says, okay, do you have family in the house? He says, yes. You have kids? Is it yes? When you come home after work, what happens in the house? He says, as soon as I enter into my house, anybody that is talking, they all be quiet. This is why because you are lion, or you're an animal. Why does everyone be quiet? He says, because I have that personality, I can shut them up. No matter the Allahu anhu says to him, well, if you can shut them up or not, but currently my concern is, you are fired. This is why if you cannot be gentle with your own family members, how would you be gentle with the people? I cannot trust you. I cannot defend. This narration is found in Muslim. I cannot trust you if you're not gentle with me, with your own family members, how can you be gentle at work with people? Because piety starts from home. Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, akamalu mu'miniina akamalu khuluqin. The best believer is that who has the best of character. And then charity starts from home. Good character starts from home, which you are with your own family members. That is a lesson for me. I'm not just pointing fingers at people because a lot of people, as I said, in the early talk, and as I started my talk, the people are going to hate me after this. But you can do so. I'm here to message. I'm here to deliver the message of Allah and it's Rasul sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. This awareness needs to be created in our society. Our family, our how our homes are being demolished because of bad behavior, because of our own actions, the way we deal. And that's not only confined to our faith, it's everywhere. It's a general problem. And as a responsible believer, it's our responsibility as a human being to prevent it, to make it better, try to stop him. There are many ways we can do that. Acknowledging your mistake is the first step. And I'm talking to the guys here, acknowledging your mistake. Because being in that stage when you get up, when you get an advice from your wife, it's a no-no. And Masha Allah, Allah has given the sisters such a great strength. You come tired from home, and you get into the house, and your wife tells you, there is no milk. I'm not going anywhere. I'm tired. I had a long day today. And five minutes later, you're going to the grocery store. Because Allah has given in that personality. Abu Salim said, Aneesa, oh Fatiha, how are you? A woman, you should treat her like a glass. And this glass has many qualities inside. Number one is beautiful. Number two is fragile. Number three, it has to be used, but it has to be used in a very gentle way. When you pick it, when you pick it up to use it, and after you put it back, you have to be very gentle. No matter how much strength you have, and how many, you know, how long, how big are your biceps and triceps and what not. At the end of the day, when you pick up that glass, you need to make sure that you don't break it. It doesn't break it in your hand. It doesn't break in your hand. You need to know how to control your strength at the time dealing with fragile situation of fragile utensils. You need to know how to control your strength. And this is the example the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave. And once you break it, no matter how many pieces you get together and you try to build it again, you still see the cracks in it. You still see the cracks in it. So it's an example that is given to us via social illaha ila he was still there. How do we need to enter as a responsible individuals and how do we need to take care of our homes? Because families are being ruined because of characters. And the best example is the example of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, not only that he showed us how to pray and how to give charity, but he also showed us how to be a family man, how to treat your own children. Because many of our children, because what happens, they don't get that comfort in the house. So they're looking for comfort outside. They have problems outside. In the house, there is no one giving them time. That's an emotional abuse. You're not able to take it. You're not able to understand the emotions of the family. That's an emotional abuse. You degrade them verbally. That's a verbal abuse. And all of this is completely condemned. The beast on Allahu alayhi wa sallam saying the best charity and the best good deed in the hollow so rude if he had been McMinn is to bring joyce in the heart of every person. That's the greatest point of charity considered in the eyes of Rasul sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So all that needs to be aware that that mean we're nastase to come. We need to become one of those individuals that as a responsible individuals that we are able to maintain that. Otherwise, these problems will carry on. And when families break, when families break, community raised. Because everything starts from home. When you have loving people in the house, when you have bonded families and in the homes, then that bonding and love and affection spreads out into the community. And this was the society that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, built during his time when he received a message from the Almighty. Allah me Eliza, what you'll give us this awareness. Now, last I know Allah make us among those who are very careful when it comes to the matter of dealing with family members, when it comes to the matter of dealing with our own wives, the responsibilities that Allah has given us on our shoulders. May Allah as the what you'll give us the ability to fulfill those responsibilities, to make it and to make it happen the way Allah the Adele wants us to make it happen. And the last panel matala forgive us for our past, the things that we have, the mistakes that we have made. And may Allah give us the ability to start a new fresh start for ourselves, which can bring that love and affection in the homes, which can bring relevant affection among spouses. I mean. I began in the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. Salutations upon the protrusion and Muhammad, his companion, his family members, and those who follow the footsteps until the day of the deduction. Respected brothers and sisters, indeed, Rasul sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, kalu kumaran Vokoun lucuma soon. And I everyone is a responsible. And in the Day of Resurrection, you will be asked about your responsibilities. As we consider providing things to our families, well, dinner on the table, and other things, clothing, so on, shelter, this is also our responsibility to provide them with good character by showing them by ourselves, by doing it ourselves. Because the best example is and the best way to teach is to do it yourself and to show a great example for others also. The loss on Delilah he was sending them whatever he ordered the Sahaba and his companions and his own family members, whatever he ordered them to do, he was doing it himself first. And this is the most effective way to make someone understand about their duties and to rectify their character. So on this blessed day of jihad is plastered deal Friday, let's make dua to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala that Allah azzawajal give us the ability to adapt the characters of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, to do to deal in our our home situations like the way the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did. And to spread the love and affection that was through which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself came and he ordered people to adopt that type of character in the homes. And may Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala, the Almighty, remove all the difficulties, all the situations, conditions that are happening in our houses and in other places, and our work and other places that we are. May Allah remove all the difficulties and conditions and situations, bring love and affection, bring central quality into this world. May Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala remove all the negative approaches that people have in regards to our faith. May Allah remove those negative and give us the ability to give the real picture and the true teach kings of the Cessna. And by showing the good character from our own behavior. I mean.
