A lot of people are talking, as always happens with a high-profile album drop. You got the haters coming out knocking it. You got the critics. You got the fans as well. You got the divisions happening. But that's why you have channels like this. We are going to deep dive into this one right here, right now. It's time for Baby Keem Casino.
>> I just want the truth. All I want is you. I just want the truth. All I want is you.
>> I just want the truth. All I want is you. What an interesting sample choice to open this with.
>> Nowadays, I grew up in change lane. Uncle Andre just passed. I can't help but bear blame. Wish I got help when the resources came. I turned 22. I was done with the rain and I'm never online. And it's too much to maintain. My [ __ ] see I'm stressed out. Another migraine. Understand what it take just to reinvent the flame. I came back different with a sound to bring change. 19 with some millions. Things began to turn strange. My mama look at me just like she going to the bank. My grandma putting me in awkward spots with the bank.
>> Oh. Oh. Some tough lines to vent on this from Keem man.
>> At the walls. I'm a genius. I was told. I'm a genius. I was chose. I'm a product to the world. It's some things that I ain't told. Like when my mama walked me around with no shoes in the cold. When I was dying for my [ __ ] my mom was sleeping in a tent. Going back and forth to jail. Should I bail? Where can I vent? [ __ ] up my credit card when I tried to pay a rent. Usually go on stage and fake a smile, but I can't. [ __ ] run the same place. Still my style, but they can't. [ __ ] [ __ ] the same hoe. She's not my style, so I can't. I'm drinking alkaline water out the way and staying fit. Buying cars I barely drive, wasting chips to scratch the itch. I can promise [ __ ] this. I am not for everybody. I can drop on everybody. It's a M for everybody, but I stay inside my laboratory, switching up the category, shaking off them battle stories. How I made my path to glory.
at the roulette wheel. Very fitting for the album title Casino. And I tell you what, it feels like he's just really starting to get into his bag and it's almost like he gets cut short. And for me, even though it's not like it's crazy wordplay, it's very direct. It's a direct approach from Keem and it's just raw. It's authentic. It's him giving his life stories, him giving his childhood, his mom sleeping in a tent, his struggles with fame that he's dealing with with wealth nowadays because he came from nothing and it's all done and it's almost like he's pouring out his heart, but it's still got that like slow marinated very peppered almost aggressive style delivery, that impassioned delivery, but it's done over just a smoother piano, that smoother sample cut, some soul and introspection added to this.
All I want is you.
>> No security nowadays. I'm with Gang Gang. Put a pause.
>> No security. I'm with Gang Gang. I take it in a couple different ways. Like he doesn't have to go through public airport security anymore because he's flying private. Also like he doesn't need security cuz he's still with his day once he's with gang gang. He's with his people versus even like this is like his coming of age telling too. Could be like he's left his security blanket. He's left what he's known.
>> I grew up in lane. Uncle Andre just passed. I can't help but bear blame. Wish I got him when the resources came. I turned 22. I was done with the range and I'm never online. It's too much to maintain.
>> He and Kendrick are similar in that sense. You don't see them moving a lot online, right? They stay quiet and then when it's time to drop, they drop. They get the internet shaking and then they keep moving.
My [ __ ] see I'm stressed out another migrain. Understand?
>> My [ __ ] see I'm stressed out another migrain. Even though again it's slow. It's very staccato. It's very peppered in terms of the accentuations like he's really just carrying confidently composed in the slower pocket.
>> What it take to reinvent the flame? I came back different with a sound to bring change. 19 with some millions. Things began to turn strange. My mama look at me just like she going to the bank. My grandma putting me in awkward spots with the bank.
>> I mean, think about that. Like his own mom's looking at him like he's a bank account now. Looking at him because of his success. Like when you have fame, when you have wealth, you'll be surprised at you know the expectations all of a sudden even your own family has of you.
throwing crumble paper at the wall drawing blanks.
>> Throwing crumpled paper, right? I take that as writer's block. Like he's getting stressed writing, trying to work on his tracks.
a genius I was told. I'm a genius I was chose. I'm a product to the world. It's some things that I ain't told. Like when my mama walked me around with no shoes in the cold. When I was dying for my [ __ ] my mom was sleeping in a tent. Going back and forth to jail. Should I bail? Where can I vent? [ __ ] up my
>> back and forth to jail. Should I bail? That's a smooth bar right there. Like getting bail out of jail versus should he bail on this situation or should he let it all out here?
credit card when I tried to pay a rent. Usually go on stage and fake a smile, but I can't. [ __ ] run the same place. It's still my style, but they can't. [ __ ] [ __ ] the same hoe. She's not my style, so I can't. I'm drinking alkaline water out the way and staying fit. Buying cars I barely drive. Wasting chips to scratch the itch.
>> Buying cars I barely drive. Wasting chips to scratch the itch. I take that as like gambling. Obviously, he grew up in Vegas. The title of the album is casino versus like buying a car which just depreciates value. That's in a different sense. Just he doesn't know what to do with his wealth. How to invest properly. He's just wasting chips. Just throwing it away.
>> I am not for everybody. I can drop on everybody. It's a for
>> I like that. That's a talking [ __ ] line. I could drop and it's a mop. I'mma sweep them all. I'mma clean them all up, baby.
>> Shaking off battle stories. How I made my path to glory.
>> Battle stories path to glory. I like the multis at the end there. Spin the wheel and see where it lands. All right, tone has been set. Slot machine. Oh, yo. Oh, you can already tell that's more of that West Coast just gritty, dirty bass and percussion, obnoxious when it drops in. But for me, I love the transition, right? playing off of we had the roulette wheel before. Then we go into the slot machine and then you just have the ringing of the slot machine and you play off of that ringing sound and then you synth it out and you run that through the mix and bounce it because you got this just that synth pounding and driving everything. But underneath boop that almost like just slot machine ding is serving as a percussion driving us until the real percussion kicks in. Keem said, "Let's get where with it on the production." I love this already. Yeah.
Hey, I'm having trouble with my 911. Smoking your chest and I know it weigh heavy. I'm out of a ride. You got to come get me. Why she always talking like she understand me? I [ __ ] with the nerds on stage. I go lenny. I don't have family so why keep a palace. My [ __ ] Dave bought so many watches. I went and got one and I didn't even dial it. All of the [ __ ] around me is humble. I beat the odd so I'm mad. Shy your wife if we hike up the hills. She got a man so I like Salana biting my tongue while I rack up the bills. Lately I'm numb complaining about it. I'm helping find [ __ ] by her body. I took it a million and didn't excite me. I know the drum like I'm with my doggy trying to catch a flight out of Midway. I might just get up with Mayana. Whatever y'all heard at night is just pathetic. They homie said you [ __ ] is buns. Whatever you're doing and [ __ ] is not giving shows up on a whole another [ __ ] The way that she moving is just unforgiving. Let's get it. Shino, my [ __ ] Shoo. Shoo.
I feel like Kendrick needs to be on this one, man. He's coming through with that type of pocket.
>> 911.
>> I'm having trouble with my 911. Remember how I said on the last track he's got that very pepper delivery? He's doing it again here, but it's a faster sequence. I'm having trouble with my 911. And then that very last bar, that last word on the bar, I mean, that's when he just speeds through even more. So, like, even though it's very peppered and is still fast, he finds like a new gear at the very end of the bar. And that's sort of that that West Coast pattern and flow that we heard on GNX that we've heard a number of West Coast artists adopt. Now, I'm going to give it as a West Coast flow. Somebody has heard those flows and they want to credit it somewhere else regionally, comment down below. Let me know.
911. Smoking your chest and I know itavy.
>> Smoke in your chest and I know it heavy right there. See the heavy. Heavy. He goes just a little bit faster. It's that twocllable pattern. Smoke in your chest and I know it weigh heavy. Nice pocket man. And then smoke in your chest. I know it weigh heavy cuz you just got like shot. It's still smoking from your chest. Come on now. Versus the burdens that you carry. It's weighing heavy on you. You got to come get me.
I [ __ ] with the nerds on stage. I go
>> I [ __ ] with the nerds on stage. I go Lenny. Surely not like [ __ ] with the nerds. Not like of mice and men Lenny, right? Lenny who had issues up here was a little slow. Effing with the nerds because he just went ballistic towards the end and effed him up versus like his best friend and effing with the nerds. Oo, I think so. I think that's enough vice member.
My [ __ ] Davees went and got one and I didn't even dial it allig
>> another flex bar like I bought a watch didn't even dial it in your wife.
>> She got a man so I hold like salon. I hold back. I'm waiting. I'm waiting on that investment to come through like I'm buying crypto.
>> She got a man like the bills lately. I'm not complaining about it. I'm find a million excite
>> I know the drums like I'm friends with Scott Bway that's a shout out to Scott Bridgeway man he was producer on GNX I wonder if he produced this one right here cuz it's got that vibe
>> excite
>> the gay homie said y'all are buns That's a bar [ __ ] The way that she moving is just unforgiving. Shake shino my [ __ ]
I barely have parents. I told my secrets that's really my twin. Like I look in a mirror. You have right. But it's an incredible feeling to face all your fears. Shotty was so your lifestyle. You moving too loosely. I thought you was f [ __ ] You twing my absence. Who knew on the plate? Let's go cut off that noise.
>> I'm back on my business. I'm feeling alive. We killing them boys. Oh. Oh. Okay. Nah, you can't do that to me. You can't smooth it out. Back on the business. We killing them boys cuz we're just so used to this. Like it's just it's got that drive, right? And then all of a sudden just to smooth it out coming out of that pattern. Oh, I like that. That was so seamless. All right, let's break it down the rest of Let's get it.
>> Raised by the wolves. I grew up casino because this project originally was supposed to be called Raised by the Wolves, wasn't it? And then it got named casino.
>> But also, he grew up casino cuz he grew up in Vegas.
>> My [ __ ]
>> I barely had parents. Like again, it's not like it's a crazy entandra, but it's just raw. It's authentic. is him telling you his pain, his struggles, how he was raised.
>> I tell the ant all my secrets that's really my twin like I look in the mirror. And Kendrick has talked about the hillbillies. He's talked about some of the understood meanings and connotations of his tie-ins and his family ties with baby King who is his second cousin. And I just wonder if there's even more there as well.
>> But it's an incredible feeling to face all your fears. Shy was your lifestyle. You're moving too loosely. I thought you was [ __ ] You twing my absence. Who knew on the playlist? Go cut out that noise.
>> Who knew on the playlist? Go cut out that noise. I'm going to talk my [ __ ] We killing them boys. Hey Now, where are we going? That [ __ ] chain zero boy.
>> That boy better have his insurance. Better get that all state. Oh, don't be a hero here.
>> He calls mayhem.
>> Might pop out in camo. I tango in all way. See right there? this flow switch. And the reason that this pattern also just hits a little different is cuz might pop out in camo. So that first syllable, he really over accentuates that first syllable and then it comes back and peppers it through. Yeah, that's a great bar. If I did you dirty, would you even blame me? Hurt people, hurt others. And he came from the dirt. He came from the mud doing you dirty.
>> Should I take the high ground? Nowadays, I'm more outrage. This time I can't just lie down. My [ __ ] did some evil things. I got one on the side now. You won't kick it when my album drop. You about to strike out. [ __ ] around and find out. Yank these [ __ ] chains off. Ain't no soldiers in this rap thing. Turn this sh out.
>> I'mma give him a bar there real quick. He gonna strike out and yank like Yankees yank these chains off.
>> [ __ ] chainsaw. Turn this [ __ ] inside out.
>> As I'm talking crazy like he he's got that characteristic hitting puberty baby king voice, but right here it's almost like gasping like wheezing with the delivery. Hey, when grandma died, I hit the 95 to get some closure. I wouldn't say I took it well. I walk around bipolar. I think I've cried a million times. I'm human. [ __ ] sue me. These days, I barely had a heart. I just accept the truth. See, Sharon always taught me kiss [ __ ] unapologetic. I got the world on my shoulders. I risk my life to live it. I got a list of [ __ ] ass [ __ ] that I'm not forgiving. I'll even cut my family off in this new life I'm living.
and he talks about the importance of his grandma in raising him. And I remember reading that and that was a story that that I could really connect with, you know, um my grandma was so important to me. And I feel like losing her and then losing my grandfather, like it it was like losing a parent and and that loss and and that pain.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
>> And his mom was in and out. She was dealing with her alcohol issues. His dad wasn't there. So, it was his grandma who was there for him. So, losing her, like, I don't want to understate that pain. I think that's very important that he mentions this on the second track of this cut. Hey,
>> you [ __ ] [ __ ] grow up yet. You [ __ ] ass [ __ ] grow up yet. Yes, [ __ ] I'm talking to you. Acting like I got something to prove.
>> Yes, [ __ ] So, I'm talking to you. I act like I got something to prove like right there. You know how I talk about having different flows within the same bar. That's a great example. And again, for me, he still got this. Yeah. That that West Coast carry to it all talking to you because you come out of that faster talking to and then the you you kind of slow it down. Hold up. Talking to you. I just like the way that that sits, man. Like you just speed through part of the bar. Like the whole bar isn't one speed. Part of the bar is one speed, then it goes to another speed, then it comes back out to a different speed.
>> You [ __ ] ass [ __ ] grow up yet. This [ __ ] I'm talking to you. I got something to prove. [ __ ] all y
>> There it is again. He's mentioning his grandma again. It's important.
>> I watch my grandma die in my truth. I hit rock bottom when I was gone and now I got nothing to lose. I keep post I feel no pain and I don't even need tattoos. That boy he got to be tired. He kicking that same old story. Reliving that same old glory. Be lucky he came before me. Used to wish for the world to adore me till I realized that's that bro [ __ ] These [ __ ] got H pory. He [ __ ] even stom my story. Some [ __ ] [ __ ] that said when I come I'm kicking that chain. I ain't never been no [ __ ] that stared at the wall and pray that [ __ ] was going to change. Look my pops in the eye. I made a decision. Best to remain a strange at this point. I'm a little deranged, [ __ ] I was raised to send that ru.
>> That's a verse right there.
>> I'm living.
>> It's almost like an army step there. Hey la. It's like demonic children singing. I think that's baby Keem on those harmonies.
>> It's weird, man.
>> I'm talking to you acting like I got something to prove. [ __ ] all y'all [ __ ] I couldn't see sharing cuz I was locked in that booth.
>> I was out here grinding, you know, working my ass off in the booth. I got my family a better life, but I still couldn't be there cuz I'm still working. I mean, that's got to hit a little differently, man. I I feel that one, too. Like, oh, man. Like, I I told the story about flying back, trying to make it in time to see my grandfather, and we hit beltway traffic and I miss him. I miss him by five minutes, man. And oh, baby Keem,
>> you know, you're out on the road. You're trying to provide. You're trying to look forward. You This is what you dreamed of. This was your way out. This was your way of doing it. But it still comes with consequences because you sacrifice time with loved ones.
>> and now I got nothing to lose. Like this is I I feel like we're building a theme here. We're building a very interesting theme like his loss and his pain leaves him even though he's in Vegas. Even though the theme is like gambling, he's playing with house money essentially because he's got nothing to lose anymore.
>> I hit rock bottom when I was gone. See right there? He hit the rock bottom bottom a little faster and then he comes back out of it again.
>> I don't even do tattoos. He kicking that same old story that same old glory. Be lucky he came before me. Used to wish for the world to adore me till I realized that's that bro. These [ __ ] got H pylori. Can you [ __ ] even stomach my story?
>> They got H pylori. Can you even stomach my story? H pylori, a bacteria in your gut, right? When that can lead to like gastritis. So can you stomach my story? They got H pylori. They got bacteria. Come on. That's a boy.
>> Horig.
>> [ __ ] you. When I come, I'm taking that chain. [ __ ] versus ce. When I come along, I'm taking the chain. Smooth. [ __ ] Floy.
>> Look my pops in the eye. Right. But that's important. Like that simple line. I'm not hiding from him. I'm not jerking it. I'm not afraid to look him in the eye and go, "We're never gonna have a relationship. Let's remain a strange."
>> I was raised to sit in that rain and rain being symbolic of pain being symbolic of of what washes over you. Love some of the symbolism.
>> At this point, I'm a little deranged, [ __ ] I was raised in that rain, man. Hey, mama. They shake the bed. Hey, mama. They shake the bed. HEY, MAMA. They [ __ ] the bed. Set the tone again. What is that? There's like a slight distortion underneath of this mix. It's almost like ocean folio like water in the waves or just that little like white noise in the space there. Interesting. Hang on, hang on, hang on.
>> Yeah, it is ocean
>> honey. Honey out on the sea. On the sea. So there it is. There's the setup, right? Yeah, it is ocean waves
>> in the dole drums. thinking of me. That's a hell of a sample right there. The doldrums. Like when your life is stagnant, when you're not going anywhere, relationship is stagnant. It's in the doldrums versus down by the equator, the doldrums where the ocean just tends to be more still like calm waters. Interesting lines.
>> Monday, Tuesday, you coming with a se baby. Friday, I'mma see to your knees. But on Saturday, we practicing the furs and the bees. I ain't mad. I ain't mad. I ain't mad. I ain't mad. [ __ ] I'm tired of lying to you and acting like it's fat. I hit a curious [ __ ] Always asking what? When I say that I am boo, that mean I'm never coming back. Shorty, keep that dog in a kennel. Her man bought the dog, he just didn't have a denim. I just hit my stride, let you clean my momentum. I was ducking all the drama. Spent the summer getting thinner. Little piece of work. She's a bad mama drama. I get freaky with a hitter. I forgot the condom. She was [ __ ] with me back when I would drive the Honda. She be ready for me. I tell her when I'm coming.
>> Oh, makes sense why he's got the condoms in if he's not telling her when he's coming.
>> He's not paying that child. acting like it's fat. I hate a curious [ __ ] always asking what's that. When I say that I am that mean
>> I just love that setup. I hate a curious [ __ ] always asking what's that and just the way that that sits in the mix.
I just hit my clean
>> ducking all the drama. Spent the summer getting thinner again. Very on brand for both him and Kendrick. piece of work. She's a bad mama.
>> Focus on self-improvement. Don't worry about the noise and everything surrounding.
>> She was [ __ ] with me back when I would drive the Honda. She be ready for me. I don't tell her when I'm coming. Honey thinking next to me Monday. Like they had a lot of fun on the production of this one. Just taking these sample cuts and just taking little even like breaths or little harmonies and just like punctuating that and caking it into the instrumentation in the beat itself here just gives a little bit of like a higher harmonic bounce to it.
Monday, Tuesday, you come seen Thursday.
>> Monday, Tuesday, you come in. What was seen? Another sexual double.
>> But on Saturday, we practic
>> and obviously the story of the birds and the bees and learning how babies are made. It's not a story.
>> Get them hoes to the truck then got she always trying to leave with me. Young [ __ ] put you on that plane like you bo your boyfriend a clown. We like to call that [ __ ] B O. She won't touch her ass. I'm like [ __ ] You be acting.
>> Oh, you just slid that bar out there, didn't you?
>> Can we pretend that airplanes and a nice guy like shooting stars? I'm not singing it. I don't feel like singing today, but you know what I'm saying. Bob O and his song Airplanes from ATL baby.
>> Put you on that plane. And then he flips it into Bob O. Bob in another sense here.
>> Your boyfriend a clown. We call that Bob. Bob Gray. Pennywise, you a clown. He an it. Come on. [ __ ] You be acting shine but be tweaking online. You always get your way. I see conceited in your eyes. You been in the truck. All right, Tuesday you coming with a scene. Hey, Thursday you going to meet baby king. Friday I'mma see to your knees. But on Saturday we practicing the birds and the bees trees deep.
>> Yeah, nothing too deep on that one. It did what it said it was doing on the label as advertised, but I like the production and the bounce to that. Still got a little bit of that West Coast flavor and flare, but just yeah, different side to it all. A little bit more poppy on that one, but still yeah, nice cut.
You used to call my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over. Yeah, you always called my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over.
>> Interesting play cuz there's like it's almost like this sample underneath or it could just be his harmonies that are just getting teased and almost mix and just run through the filter like they are a sample, right? They're just way buried down in the mix here. Uh uh uh uh you could just hear super deep and in between the key hits that they just kind of like bounce in. And then there's moments where they just rise a little bit more to the top.
>> Yeah. Right there. And then it just cut before he starts singing.
to call my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over yet called my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over. Don't you love a good flirt with a stranger? Don't you love letting out a good cry? Baby ain't coming home on a Friday night. I'm a good
>> I'm going to get walked on this. I just said before he starts singing his momo singing. What am I doing? Come on, Knox. Get it together today.
>> Don't you love a good stranger? Don't you love a good cry? Baby ain't coming home on a Friday night. I'm all good. My hips still wine. Don't you love a good flirt with a stranger? Don't you love letting out a cry? Ain't coming home on a Friday night. I'm all good. My hips still
>> I love that. My hips still wine. That's a smooth double right there. Like my hips still wine. I still got that movement in that rhythm, right? And there's obviously this sexual just understanding underneath of that versus just like on a Friday night drinking wine. Nice flip on that.
>> It was almost like my safe haven, but you ended up acting a baby barely together even. You always playing. Now you hating cuz what these [ __ ] be saying. Like why he never took you on vacation? What gets me? They stay hating. It's crazy cuz you had everything they chasing. Like somebody you can call on a place you can call home until it went on wrong. Shorty you want. You used to call my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over yet on a Friday night.
>> That's why I'm so thrown off. I tell I can't even catch myself on this. That's Baby Keem singing. That I was right originally when it was he before it came into Momo. That is Baby King just coming through with the smooth smooth melodies.
>> Like I ain't never took you on vacation. Like even there like vacation goes a little bit faster like with the flow through vacation. Even though it's sung, it's still got a little bit of that rap style delivery, right? Cutting through with the lyricsing. It's crazy.
>> It's crazy cuz you had everything they chasing. Like it's got a little bit of that R&B vibe to it and kind of like cascading and water water falling over the pocket, but still he sits in like that nice rap pattern. Somebody you can call on a place you can call home until it went all wrong. Shorty, you want you used to call my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over. Yeah.
>> It's been over. We d It's almost like uh Chain Smokers. We ain't getting older. We've been over yet called my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice. It's been over. We've been over.
>> Yeah.
>> Don't you love a good flirt with a stranger? Don't you love letting out a good cry? Baby ain't coming home on a Friday night. I'm all good. My hips still wine. Don't you love a good flirt with a stranger? Don't you love letting out a cry? Ain't coming home on a Friday night. I'm all good. My hips still wine. I never knew a love a love like this. Flood your contour. Make you blush like this. A love like this. Come on. That's common, baby. That's some nice little common nod like this.
>> And I'mma throw one for these comments. What you know about common sense? Come on my true comment fans.
>> I never knew a la a love like this. Flood your contour make you blush like this. [ __ ] a friend zone when you hug like this. Nibble on your ear, touch your butt like this. We adjust like this. Got a girl then a guy we trust like this. To be honest, [ __ ] love love love too. Should I gossip with my [ __ ] like I'm young thug too. Dumb lungs on you spun the hair bun loose. Writing rules till they come with royalties and pub too. Where you at?
>> At the house with it watching Sas.
>> Who you with?
>> On the couch with my favorite Santa.
>> I was about to, but you convinced us. Should I decorate our walls or log off the Pinterest? Never too late to meditate on emotional attachments. Even if I fall short from my distractions, been missing your booty, loving on your booty, kissing on your booty, crushing on your booty. Remember me? Iceberg jeans are the trulies. Duck worth, you know, street smart, but I'm goofy. Wait, you got a platinum record in the
>> I got a platinum in the
>> missing loving on your booty kissing on your booty crushing on your booty.
>> What a great verse about booty.
>> For me, I love the uh the melodic changes that Kendrick shows and some of these flow pockets again. Man, this is nice. I'm all good. My hips still wine.
>> I never knew a love a love like this. Flood your contour make you blush like this.
>> Flood your contour make you blush like this. Contour blush makeup scheme versus blushing. Obviously in the sexual scheme underneath that
>> flood your contour make you blush like this. [ __ ] a friend zone when you hug like this. Nibble on your ear, touch your butt like this. We are just like this. If God's a girl, then in God we trust like this.
>> If God's a girl, then in God we trust like this. Hey, I'll never look at the coin the same way again. In God we trust
>> like this. We just like this. If a girl then in God we trust like this [ __ ] loves with my [ __ ] like I'm young, too.
>> Love love too. I gossip with my [ __ ] like I'm young thug too. You had to know that was coming. Shots at Young Thug. But yeah, he was uh doing the infamous jail phone calls now. And on one of those calls, he's bitching about Kendrick Lamar, not getting a Kendrick Lamar feature, talking about, "Hey, Drake is better than Kendrick. Drake at least gives features to people." Oh, he was on a full gossip [ __ ] mode mean girls train. And uh yeah, he got exposed for that. I was wondering I was wondering if Kendrick was going to respond. Here you go. Here you go. You get a little bar. You get a little Just throw away love. I got so with my [ __ ] like I'm young too.
>> Oh, that's diabolical though. Come on. It's said so lighthearted and in this melodic way. And for me sometimes that hits the worst because it's like you're not even really taking your opponent that seriously. You're just throwing it out there. And you know that's a dagger.
>> Be honest. [ __ ] love love love too. Should I gossip with my [ __ ] like I'm young thug too. Dumb lungs on you spun the hair bun loose. Writing wrongs till they come with royalties and pub too.
>> Writing wrongs until they come with royalties and publishing. Oh, now we talking royalties and publishing. Oh, there's been a lot of conversations about that, hasn't there? Anyways, we won't go on that side quest today. But I love the way that he flips it. like right right direction two wrongs versus right wrong versus WIT writing out the wrongs and you should get publishing for it you should get credit for it

>> I mean, that's just like a simple, you know, popular reference line to a movie that a lot of people have seen that has really carried weight. But for me, it goes a little bit deeper because the reference that Kendrick is choosing is obviously dominated by Ryan and he's given love to a black director. He's given love to a black filmmaker. He knows what center means to the black culture. So, he's going to have just that little throwway, that little nod within it, too. Yeah, I like that.
with my favorite. I was about to, but you should decorate our walls or log off the Pinterest. Never
>> decorate our walls, sexual scheme or log off the Pinterest, but you should decorate our walls or log off the Pinterest. Never too late to meditate on emotional attachment. Never too late to meditate on emotional attachment. Like right there. What? How do you find that pattern? Like just to go like that fast cuz this beat is bump bump. It's very measured, right? is very marinated and for him all of a sudden to come into a faster pocket. But what he does to balance out instead of going like very aggressive with that faster pattern, he still has the melodies. He still has sort of like that harmonic singing delivery.
>> And we heard this a lot on Luther, too.
>> Never too late to meditate on emotional attachments. And then he kind of bases it out and like elongates it there with the vows towards the end. Even if I fall short from my distraction.
>> Even if I fall short. And then he's got nice higher harmonies here. Even if I fall short from my Well, he's still got the lower bass is the main. That's a nice stack right there.
>> Never too late to meditate on emotional attachments. Even if I fall short from my distractions, on your kissing on your booty, crushing on your booty. Remember me. Iceberg jeans are the duck. You know, street smart goofy. You must got a platinum record. Duckw worth goofy. Obviously he's flipping the slang, but I take it too. You could have a little bit of like a Disney scheme in there. Like duck tails goofy. Yeah.
>> Smart, but I'm goofy. Wait, you must got a platinum record in the coochie.
>> I got a pliing on your booty.
>> That coochie deserves an award.
>> Kissing on your booty. Crushing on your booty. You used to call my phone on a Friday night. It's been over.
>> Eat your salads. Eat your greens, boys and girls.
>> But twice. It's been over. We've been over yet. You always called my phone on a Friday night. It's been over twice.
>> It's been over. We've been over but almost get like Island Caribbean vibes. A little bit of mix and blend with that too. Slash that in with the R&B. Some of the melodic rapping and singing from Kendrick and great singing from Baby Keem, too. Come on. Just a different type of cup, man. I like the switch up, too, because like you hear both of them on a track and you think, "All right, we're going to get like ignorant West Coast bounce. Like, give me just that 808 knocking. Give me that gritty bass." But instead, no, let's let's smooth it out. Let's go a little bit more like Kendrick and Scissor vibes. Let's go more like Luther Lane. I enjoyed that. But what can I say?
>> I took that girl to my P. I didn't see too much disloyalty. That's why I never put girl in my stash. She out here going body for body and constantly making me mad. She about to be in the past. Is it love? Probably. I smell something.
>> Oh, I smell something.
>> Hey, makes me think of 50 Cent, man. I smell [ __ ] Is that you, J? I smell something. And I tell you what's interesting. I I talked about the mixing on this in the documentary, how it sounded just like more raw and unmixed vocals. And kind of Kendrick's voice here, it's not like super wet. It's not just like the way that it's mixed with compression and all that. It's kind of left more on the raw end of the spectrum. So, it just sits a little different than how Baby Keem sits with his vocals.
>> And I'm fake. is in love.
>> Yeah. And he's a little down in it, but you still hear is it godly? Like he's just got that guttural growl to it. All right, let's break down some of this. This production is soft as well.
>> I love the misdirection here. Right, cuz we don't know. We're going ignorant right now, right? So, we're going more reflecting again. More nostalgic cuts, soulful samples.
>> Take us back to like Mottown vibes. I
>> and Baby Keem, before there's even a drop, before the beat even switches, he comes in rapping over top of the sample. This is what I love about this misdirection.
>> I didn't see too much disloyalty. That's why I never put girl in my stash.
>> I didn't see too much disloyalty. That's why I never put girl in my stash. I love that. I didn't see too much disloyalty because that's that's a mouthful. That's getting a lot out. That's really just firing like that chopper spitter flow. But for me, I love when you go like that shopper flow, but then you pick like just a one syllable. And for me, it's all about stash, cash, back. It's got that hard a pull. So, you pull that hard A out and you elongate that final word of the bar to really make that chopper flow sit drake. Right. I'll show you. What can I say?
>> I took that girl to my P. I didn't see too much disloyalty. That's why I never put girl in my stash. She out here going body for body and constantly making me nap. She about to be in the past. She wake up in the morning and tell her abs.

>> It's kind of a wild bar. If I'm in this crash, I'm holding resentment. My mama so petty, she let me in back at the stash. I had to
>> My mama's so petty, she left me in back at the stash house. That's one of those lines that you like when you think about it, it sounds hard as [ __ ] but you're like, damn, that's dark. Mama left me in the stash house so she could go get her hide.
>> I'm holding resentment. My mama petty she let me in back at the stash house. I packed out the building. If you at the show, then that mean that you ready to black out. That mean that it's too late to back out. The cameras is about to act now. I pack up your tribe. I still got the stripes. You scuffing the high. She's feeling alive. The music is right.

What the [ __ ] Powered up. He a godly.

He uses that triplet pattern with that more slower pocket. Now, that slower flow. And I love because obviously that first verse, he went da da da da da da da da. He went into attack mode, right? So coming out of that, he shows us like the extreme opposite with this really slower marinated triplet pocket.
>> And what I need a chain for, what I need to take ownership of her if I told you what she did, right? He flips the chains in a different sense as well.
>> I'm not put my name on that.
>> I see it.
>> I'mma call it as I see like right there when it goes a little bit faster. Call it as a see it. You know how I talked about sort of that West Coast flow like just hitting like the middle of the bar and just like speeding through a couple of the syllables in the pattern and then coming back out and smoothing it. That's it right there.
>> I'm a dumb ass [ __ ] I like my [ __ ] Barcelona [ __ ] about that [ __ ]
>> Yeah, baby Keem is on his his young lust and ready to uh ready to let loose phase right now. He's not looking for that long-term commitment. I'm not getting those vibes from him.
>> I'm about nobody. What the [ __ ] Powered up. Who going to stop me? He a d. She a boss and I'm godly. Is it fake? Is it love? Probably. I smell something. I smell something.
>> I just feel like Baby King's verses, right? We're talking one direction, right? and we're talking about a girl and we're talking about this side. And then Kendrick for me takes that same connotation and then he adds a different value to it and he's calling people out. I smell something like I'm outside. I want the smoke. I walk into the party, I'm feeling godly and I watch this party die. It's almost like a threat, right? Who's going to stand up to me? Who's going to call me out? Because I know what the party is like. I've talked about it. I just wonder if there's a there's there's a little bit more there's a little bit more edge to that underneath. But I tell you what, man. I love the production on that. Love the flow changes. Love the vibe of that. That's a cut and a half right there. House money. Such a strange vibration in contrast with just a beautiful melodic piano just off to the side. I don't know what that is.

And the reason he says that is because I'm not here to give you crazy double triple onandras. I'm just here to speak my truth, to give you my raw authenticity. I feel like that's what he's doing right here. But what's really interesting is that the beat just switches right out of this just smooth piano. It almost gets like just chaotic dissonance with it.
>> with just like this futuristic syn just that little that keeps panning off to the sides. I still can't place it. It's something sliding some type of friction that's just been taken. Let's take that and put that in the mix." But I love that because it just creates that little friction that almost like foreshadows and teases the friction and the dynamic change that happens here.
>> Right here. And then we kind of almost like slow down the beat.
>> My greatest achievement is being highly dangerous. Lord, keep me welcome.

>> Yeah, they're having they're having fun with the production on the end of this and just end on a piano. Really end on that note? I'll tell you what, that was that was very experimental and obviously just a huge drastic switch up from I'm not a lyricist before that, but actually coming out of I'm not a lyricist when you think about just that dynamic change. Yeah. Okay, I get it. I get it. Maybe not as hitting for me. Probably like too much sex appeal. I don't know if I like that hook as much. If that was like the catchiest way to go. I thought there were some dope verses. There was a lot of other positives to this and the production, but yeah, it just felt it felt a little bit underwhelming compared to the other stuff, but maybe that's one you got to listen to a few times to get used to.

>> I've been thinking all day. Got about five in the dresser by the ashtray. Cutting all ties. Put my five in the gas tank. I hope that that's enough. I'm about to hit the fast lane. I'm a soldier. Make it all decent. Hit that dirty desert. Need that rent by the weekend. These [ __ ] streets filled with diseases and pleases and teachers. I'll never know what peace is. I'm dreaming.
>> What a line. I'll never know what peace is.
>> Highway caught a ride. Got five on the gas tank. Sister going to be some decent. I ain't never going to be [ __ ] to my
>> broken heart then I lost all the pieces. Cried all night every time I took a beating. Run away child. Sleeping under highways. Growing up and going on a tirade. 95 speeding down the highway. Caught a ride. Got five on the gas tank. 95.
>> Oh, that's security. Now we start to hear the lyrics.
>> It's interesting how his voice finally gets turned down and then you start to hear the sample shine through. And I love how he's still rapping, but it's almost like he's gradually being muted. He's gradually being suppressed, right? As he's driving away, as he's carrying on down the highway. And he said, "I'm not a lyricist." And for me, it's it's the raw realness and authenticity of this album and just him. He's he's not necessarily storytelling like putting himself in someone else's perspective. He's giving you his own autobiography. And and that's the realness of it for me. That's the edge. And he's not holding anything back. There's no filters on this.
Who the [ __ ] told you I wasn't that [ __ ] Who the [ __ ] told you I wouldn't get bigger? 25 m and now sticking ass [ __ ] waiting on me to slip up. Running up the budget, my life is a movie. Cut the [ __ ] off like you

>> Up the budget, my life is a movie. Cut the [ __ ] off like
>> you know when you say my life is a movie that's smooth bar now she running around saying she outgrew me keep it 100 [ __ ] you [ __ ] goofy who the [ __ ] told you I wouldn't get bigger hating that [ __ ] waiting on me to sliver who the [ __ ] told you I wouldn't get bigger your ex went gay now she don't like [ __ ] how you [ __ ] me then [ __ ] my homie she called my phone saying I was just lonely I was hoping yesterday think about Kobe remember them days living off of baloney if you want a six pack you got to do setups not trying to get to the chilly [ __ ] get up [ __ ] like me I got some [ __ ] head up [ __ ] like Oh.
>> Oh, back to that slot machine.
>> I was hooping yesterday. Thinking about Kobe. Rest in peace to Kobe Bryan, man. If you want a sixack, you got to do situps.
>> If you want a six-pack, you got to do sit-ups. There's no shortcuts in life. You got to put in the work in the grind. And I just wonder there was there was big rumors about a certain BBL man taking shortcuts, not putting in the work. Get to the chilly [ __ ] Get up. [ __ ] like me. I got some [ __ ] head up. [ __ ] like me. I We teed up now we looking out for trouble. We were six deep in a huddle. Keeping my mystique when I hustle [ __ ] trying to do the impossible. Burning all the traffic going bunkers. 992 boogie monster. [ __ ] whole time. [ __ ] it was us. [ __ ] was
>> whole time it was us. That's a very like that's that's a very like Kendrick voice of Cadence when he comes back down and he gets more of like his monster voice. Cuz you come out of the highs and then you drop in with the more lows with the cadence change.
>> I like six in the huddle too.
>> [ __ ] seen a [ __ ] line but my [ __ ] swear I made it up [ __ ] whole time. Calls from my ex [ __ ] We are never making up [ __ ] Tattoos on the panties go to the side. We just trying to stay alive with my ear. I ain't ting no chain. My jury hang my little brother. I ain't tucking no chain. Let my jewelry hang. Right. I'm not hiding. I'm not afraid of anything when I walk into the club. And obviously panties go to the side. You know what's on from that.
>> I ain't tucking no chain like my little brother. Hey, I'm a genre and I'm coming out of broken home. You been states.
>> I'm a genre bender like Avatar Air Bender. Come on.
>> Bend. We've had like five different cadence changes and flow switches already on this one.
>> after he comes out of the lows again.
>> trying to stay alive.
>> We just trying to stay alive. Notice how he sits. He holds it down here.
>> And then coming out of that, that's when he goes back into attack mode and higher.
>> Hey, I'm a genre and broken home. I'm a zra and I'm coming at it back to the triplets.
>> Each his own. I'm that type of rich [ __ ] that got a broken phone. I just spent 5 million on a condo and don't be regular baby. I need you to conjure a different emotion. What can I do in Bahamas right now? My [ __ ] is scattered the ocean. I was all in with you baby. I'm changing my mind. It's time to be open. All of my [ __ ] are live in Battery Park. We have a commotion. All of my live in Battery Park. We have a commotion like right therea da da da da like and then he takes the triplets and he goes faster right he was slower on the triplets here more staccato and then here he goes with a faster sort of triplet exchange and for me ho ho ho ho d like he's got his voice off to the side just those little taps but this is like this would sit on G&X's album.
>> you can really hear the Kendrick sort of influence on this one baby I'm changing my mind it's time to be All of my [ __ ] is alive and battery inside. They [ __ ] up the vibe. They don't do me online and act like she like ain't [ __ ]
>> Got it. You know that you bogus. I just love again. Hard impressing you [ __ ] You come from the rats and roaches.
>> It ain't hard impressing you [ __ ] cuz you come from the rags and roaches. Come on.
>> Rats and roaches are
>> hustle for the lights. Keep the family. I want to see the prototype. I'm looking cuz my last one went on strike. I'm having different white cuz my last one went on strike. Baby, I'm being serious. You a 10. I need a strike. I'm trying to delete that.
>> bowling pin scheme. You a 10. You a 10 out of 10 versus like 10 pin bowling. You a strike. I'm trying to strike you. That mean [ __ ] Don't turn me on. You got to [ __ ] die. Now I got to thrive.
>> Mean girl [ __ ] Don't turn me on. You got to come polite. That's bar.
>> That mean girl [ __ ] Don't turn me on. You got to come. Now I got to thrive. Baby [ __ ] fry.
>> What become alive? Oh, you fried. I ain't hating on you. Like right there. It's really hard, by the way, for me to try to explain the dope flow patterns because obviously there's words that I can't say. I'm never going to say, but hopefully you can get how I'm trying to set this up and show you guys just like the extreme dynamic changes that he's going through. Like every four bars, like it's a new flow switch, it's a new cadence, it's a new speed, it's new shifts on direction, it's new metric techniques. It's really dope, man. team ain't playing no more. This told me come alive. All you [ __ ] fried. Can't even be a fan no more. I see her just trying to vibe. I be out the country. I don't even plan no more. She don't want to wear pants no more. We ain't even in the sand no more.
>> We ain't even in the sand no more. Like right there, just that accentuation on sand.
>> Another switch.
>> Wow. This is a very versatile track. That little demonic laugh off to the side there.
>> Had to watch my mama cry when my home got colonized. Like right there, just like the way that he's like holding things. Oh yeah, he's having a lot of fun with just like the way his voice bends and the throat just moves with the vowel sounds. Like again, it's almost like it's almost like having split personalities. I feel like we've heard like seven different personalities on this track. I'm getting such Kendrick vibes from this one. But then home got colonized. I wonder if his home was subject to gentrification. And that's a little bit of a gentrification right there. Getting colonized by the white man.
>> Had to watch my mama cry when my colonized by the hand. She look cute. I make her m
>> It's okay to take your time. Like right there the consonant. Take your time. Like you really you really hit the consonant sounds like you really punctuate. That's like one of those like you get close on the mic. You make sure you're like almost over accentuating everything that I be saying. Me and they don't apologize. I don't know my siblings on my real father's side. I didn't a lot of [ __ ] when my grandmama died. I was put on a mission that you wouldn't understand. I don't want no rapper friends. I'm in a ghetto with my plans. I've been building like a [ __ ] Put a Lego in my hands. [ __ ] I'm on this.
>> I've been building like I got a Lego in my hands. Love that bar.
>> Stack it. What the [ __ ] do that mean? When I seen get the [ __ ] treated like a sex scene. I almost died when I took the vac. I was gone for two years down. Yeah, [ __ ]
>> This came an antivaxer. I almost died when I took the vaccine. Going for two years down bar flat.
>> Hey [ __ ] jumping in his [ __ ] Yeah [ __ ] so much money trying to get it back. Yeah [ __ ]
>> And then again for me like when he when he like drops down and he brings you in right. What? Reflecting. Yeah. Da da da da da. And then he comes back more aggressive. Right. And then more higher. It's like lows to highs, lows to highs, lows to highs with every single dynamic shift. And then obviously you have flow structure as well.
>> I like this pocket, man.
>> Yeah, [ __ ] Overseas on an investment track. Yeah, [ __ ] That was when I went back to my Yeah, [ __ ] Uncle just to buy some crack. Yeah, [ __ ]
>> That's why he said he was hiding [ __ ] in the house from Uncle Andre. Selling his Xbox to get crack. Nah, that's foul. She not falling back.
>> Red flags.
>> Yeah, [ __ ] [ __ ] caveman with the way I rap.
>> A should have could a [ __ ] booger [ __ ] I'm a [ __ ] cave man. [ __ ] should have could have [ __ ] booger [ __ ] I'm a [ __ ] caveman. [ __ ] should have a [ __ ] booger [ __ ] I'm a [ __ ] caveman. [ __ ] should have a [ __ ] booger [ __ ]
>> This is very dark, very gritty, very West Coast again. Booga booger. He was called booger, right? Versus flipping off a ugabooga sounding like a caveman, but for me it goes a little bit deeper. Like obviously he's making like caveman sounds and it's got just a dope rhythm to it and pattern, but feeling like he's living like a caveman cuz he's going ignorant. Like he's just going back to his primalist roots of survival. You know, his survival instincts are kicking in because of his environment.
>> It's almost like the track is haunted. Like I could hear this on Halloween like right there. That little cut. There is that just little like spooky resonance underneath of his like his actual vocals. Uh like his stacks are here and then just underneath. I just hear that right there. It's like in a monster movie. That was a spooky track. But I tell you what, very versatile. Titled Freestyle for a reason, cuz all the different dynamic changes with the production shifts. I felt like we had seven tracks in one there and seven different keem personalities. Oh man, he loves having these sample cuts and then you go in one direction and you start to vibe out and you get just more atmospheric with it and then drive us.
>> I wish you well. Take off the mask. I see your lies. They tell the girl, but they know they know she has a vices.
>> I love the way that hit she has her vices. Who am I to judge?
>> She's tucked away. She's tucked away. I've been in lights. Man, just the way that that hits, right? Take off your mask, all the lies, protecting yourself, being a problem child. But I understand because you're broken. And who am I to judge cuz I'm broken, too.
>> Such a nice sentiment, but also like [ __ ] tragic when you start thinking about the lyrics and digesting it more.
>> There's more than one way. I need you finding that explosion. Explosion. We drew blood in the ocean. Ocean. I've been hiding in the open. Open. There's more than one way you should love me. I need you finding that emotion. Emotion. We drew blood in the ocean. Ocean. I've been hiding in the open.
>> Again, we get singing Baby Keem vibes, man. Another experimental track, but I like the balance of this one. And we drew blood in the ocean, right? We drew blood like cutting each other because you you think about relationships and you think about alluding to his trauma and what he's been through and then finding someone else who's been through trauma. So for me, there's that blood that's already been drawn, but then also like kind of entering a blood pack, but you know, sharing DNA with someone else, right? Connecting with someone else. And with him being so broken and him just feeling so unable to trust with relationships, like for him, a relationship could almost be like war. It could almost be like a battle, like drawing blood. Like the symbolism could go in so many different directions for me on those lyrics. I love the poetry of it. I've been hiding in the open.
>> And then that's who like that's that's the line that really sets it up for me. I've been hiding in the open, right? I'm out in the open, but I'm still hiding who I am deep down, right? Cuz I'm protecting myself. I have this wall up.
>> And he's asking for her to find the emotion, for her to find the explosion in the spark. And then again, you have a little bit of a sexual innuendo there with the explosion. Is it that deep swimming in the water? 6 feet deep. Can you show me more love? We'll see. Can you show me my love? We'll see.
>> Shay, I was not ready for you. Come on.
>> Can you show me more love? We'll see. Can you show me love? We'll see. We'll see. Is it that deep? Swimming in the water like it's 3D. Can you show me my love? We'll see. Can you show me my love? We'll see.
>> There's more than one.
>> Swimming in the water at 6 feet deep. Like entering the ocean. Entering the waters, not knowing the height, the levels, if you can even swim and survive this love. Love that.
>> It's smooth, too, man. Got to balance. I can hear this on the radio.
>> There's more than one way. I need you finding that explosion. Explosion. We drew blood in the ocean. Ocean. I've been hiding in the open. There's more than one way.
>> Love those higher harmonies. We drew blood in the ocean. Ocean. I've been hiding in the open. You've been on my mind for so long. I keep writing love songs. I keep singing love songs. I know we haven't spoken so long. I've been writing love songs. I've been singing love songs. that
>> just little bridge right there with the acoustic guitar running it and he's just got a ton of harmony stacks on top of that. It's just nice.
>> kick back in with the driving percussion.
>> The foot of the floor, man. He's got a hit on this one. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's a little bit more on the pop range, the love song range, but this is Baby Keem always willing to experiment. You never know what's around the corner with his tracks and what he wants to bring to the table. I love that, man. Like so so dynamic this album and the different cuts and sounds and production so far. I need you finding that explosion explosion. We drew blood in the ocean. I've been hiding in the open. There's more than one way you should love me. I need you finding that emotion. Emotion. We drew blood in the ocean. Ocean. I've been hiding in the open.
>> I'm not lying, but Baby Ke could cross over. Baby Ke could cross over and absolutely dominate the charts. He could make a whole album of cuts like this. He's He's He's got a nice cadence to his voice. I actually do really like his singing voice, too. Love in the ocean. Ocean. I've been hiding in the open. Open girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl. I love how it carries across the mix and then dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance. He got dance hit with this one. Yeah. Okay,
>> better luck next time.
>> Uh, at the casino again. Just staying consistent with those themes, right? Slot running. Better luck next time. The house always wins. That rain. Wow.
>> I don't blame you, mama.
>> That production is wild because you got this heavy like in-house drum kit off to the side. Just the kicks boom boom that's banging and then very melodic sad piano over top and then just like in between the space just a little snap track off to the side as well. Wow. Just the depth of all that and the way it all sits. Mhm. I don't blame you, mama.
>> I don't blame you, mama. You was walking the streets alone. You couldn't shake the trauma. Chicago streets, the [ __ ] you seen, been weighing on your conscious. I cry and blame myself for all the [ __ ] that fell upon us.
>> I don't blame you, mama. It wasn't you that day you told me I would get my karma. I was 7 years old, waiting on you in pajamas. You said you would come home. Mom should have never made that promise.
>> How could I blame you, mama? I ran from you that day. I'm not numb to those encounters. I've seen you in the worst way. When the police say they found you, grandma told me you died. How am I going to live without you? I could never shame you, mama. Always felt the same about you. We come from restraining orders. Why is he putting hands on you? I just want to play with toys. You and grandma fighting for me. CPS is at the door.
>> We come from restraining orders. Why'd he put his hands on you? I just want to play with toys. Like just witnessing that abuse and witnessing that physicality and things you should never witness as a kid. And this is him just bearing it all out for us like.
>> I just want to play with toys and grandma fighting.
>> And then grandma saying his mama died. Is his mom actually dead or is that what she told him as a kid because she was getting taken to jail? Yes. Is at the door.
>> This is [ __ ] raw, man. We're gonna bring it back.
>> I don't blame you, mama.
>> Starts that. I don't blame you. Like, you hear the pain there.
>> I don't blame you, mama. You was walking the streets alone and couldn't shake the trauma. Chicago streets.
>> You was walking the streets alone and couldn't shake the trauma. You didn't have support. You didn't have help. So, how can I truly blame you? Right. earlier. It's interesting because this for me is his reconciliation. It's almost like he's coming around in therapy here because before he talked about that resentment and his mama leaving him at the stash house, right?
>> I cry and blame myself for all this [ __ ] that fell upon us.
>> I cry and blame myself for all this [ __ ] that fell upon us. Man, that's some that's some burdens you shouldn't have to carry. Keem, you putting too much on yourself.
>> I don't blame you, mama. It wasn't you that day you told me I would get my karma. I was seven years old, waiting on you in pajamas. You said you would come home. Should have never made that promise.
Man, you and grandma fighting for me. CPS, child protective services is at the door. Come on. You and grandma fighting for me. CPS is at the door. I still don't blame you, mama. Smoking cigarettes in that house, made it haunted. Skeleton in the closet. Spent my birthday running from it.
>> How you pregnant with a Xanax in your stomach? I'm wishing change upon us. Broken chains you bring me pain, you still going to break the promise that you made to me in jail before you had Mel that summer. I was still a baby mama. My daddy disappeared. How you neglect your baby mama. But I won't blame you, mama. You was walking the streets alone. You couldn't shake the trauma. Chicago streets. The [ __ ] you seen been weighing on your conscious. I cry and blame myself for all the [ __ ] that fell upon us.
>> I don't blame you, mama.
>> Man, this is raw.
>> Mama smoking cigarettes in that house. made it haunted.
>> Smoking cigarettes in that house made it haunted, right? Just like the cigarette smoke in the air, seeing ghosts. Like just the way that he paints that. That illustrative line. That's poetic, man. It's raw.
>> And then made it haunted. And then he leads it into the skeleton bar. Like we all have skeletons in our closet and that trauma that we carry with us and those burdens. And I love how he plays off of the haunt.
>> cigarettes in the house. Made it haunted. Skeleton in the closet. Spent my birthday running from it. How you pregnant with a Xanax in your stomach?
>> How you pregnant with a Xanax in your stomach?
>> Wishing change upon us. Broken chain. You bring me pain. You still going to break the promise that you made to me in jail before you had that summer. I was still a baby mama. My daddy disappeared. How you neglect your baby mama, but I won't blame.
>> How my daddy disappeared. How you neglect your baby mama. That's a nice double right there. But a tragic double at the same time. Like daddy disappeared. So he's talking to his dad. How are you neglecting your BM, your baby mama? Versus he's directly addressing his mother going, how you neglect your baby me, mama.
>> Mama, you was walking the streets alone. You couldn't shake the trauma. Chicago streets. The [ __ ] you seen weighing on your conscious.
>> Oo, little bit of organs there. Little bit of tickets to church underneath.
>> Blame for all the [ __ ] that fell upon us.
>> I don't blame you, mama. So cold and I don't feel love today. I run away. I don't blame you, mama. So cold and I don't feel love today. I run away. I don't blame you, mama. I run away. I run away. I run away.
>> I don't run away. I run away.
>> I run away. And this is him like talking about being a runaway. Sleeping under bridges, right? The I 95, the highway song as well, like trying to escape from this situation. Oh, all right. Give us that electric guitar.
>> And then you hear the rain come back as well. The rain representing pain and being symbolic of that. Wow. that feels like really opening wounds. And I feel like this album, I don't know if it necessarily closes wounds for Baby Keem or gives him solace because he's just being so raw and vulnerable to us and opening so much. And there's just some some really [ __ ] dark tragic issues that are explored from his childhood, from his trauma as he tries to unpack it all as he tries to share it with the world and share it with us. And for me, I love the just very direct, nononsense approach from Keem. But Keem can't help but be Keem, man. He's very artistic at the same time. Like you had some cuts on this album where he's pushing boundaries again. He's experimenting with sounds. He's genre blending all the switch ups. You never know what's around the corner. And I love how he keeps you kind of on your toes. Like for me, amazing production throughout this album. Like I love that side of it. And then I just love the raw authentic autobiography from him. What a set, man. I feel like I want more. I feel like it's over too soon. Like we need more Keem, but this is what he gives you. Like, it's smart. It's shortened. It's polish. It's his best that he wants to put forward that he wants us to digest. And I hope that he's not going to go away for 5 years. I hope this is just the beginning of more Keem rollouts. We'll see. Baby Keem, you're nox certified. Hope you guys like today's video. Listen, if you're here at the end, obviously enjoy the content. Do me a huge favor.
