Siri AI vs Gemini – Has Apple Finally Caught Up?

Apple has taken Siri to a whole new level with the help of Gemini models. But the question is, is it now better, same, or worse than Google's own assistant? To answer this question, let's do an in-depth comparison between Gemini and Siri AI. The scoring is simple. Each assistant earns one point for every correct answer. If one delivers a noticeably better response, it gets an extra half a point. With that out of the way, let's get started.

The first category is personal context or personal intelligence to see which one is better in handling requests related to your personal data stored in native apps. And here's the first question. I remember taking a photo on a yellow bridge in Bali. Can you search my gallery for it?

>> You're on the iconic yellow bridge in Bali on May 9th, 2018.

>> I found three photos of a yellow bridge in Bali from May 2018.

In this question, Gemini is more accurate as it got me exactly the photos I asked for, while Siri added two extra photos that don't fit exactly with the request. So, I have a point extra to Gemini. Let's continue by asking follow-up questions about the same photos. What's the name of this place?

>> That place is known as the yellow bridge or Jambatan Kuning in Indonesian. It is also frequently called the bridge of love, Jambatan. It is a famous narrow suspension bridge that connects the two small islands of Nusa Limbongan and Nusa Chiningan located just off the southeast coast of Bali.

>> For help with that, you'll need to turn on location services for Siri. This is a yellow bridge which connects Nusa Limbboan and Nusa Sanengon in Bali, Indonesia.

Both are correct, but once more I prefer Jimai's answer as it gave me more information and as a tourist knowing that this is the bridge of love makes the answer more interesting while Siri was very straight to the point. So half a point extra to Gemini. Send these photos along with the location name to my Egyptian number.

>> Sure. Message to my Egyptian number saying, "Here are the photos from Yellow Bridge, Bridge of Love, Nulongan, Bali. Ready to send it?"

>> Ready to send it.

I prefer Siri in this one as it gave me one final preview of the photo before sending. Plus, I have the ability to remove any of the items, which is not the case with Gemini. Plus, tapping on the modify button takes me to the messaging app, which is not very useful. So, half a point extra to Siri. What's the last email I received from Open AI?

>> The last email you received from OpenAI was a final reminder sent on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at 9:10 p.m. Eastern Europe, Summertime. Subject: Final Reminder: Your Go Access ends soon. Content:

>> Draft A reply asking to cancel my subscription.

>> Here's a draft you can send to support at openai.com. Subject: Request to cancel chat GPT go subscription. Hi chat GPT team, please cancel my chat GPT go subscription associated with this email address effective immediately. I would also appreciate confirmation once the cancellation is processed. Thank you, Adam.

The last email you received from OpenAI was on June 20th, 2026 with the subject, final reminder, your go access ends soon. Another email was also received on the same day with the subject don't lose access to chat key. Go

>> draft a reply asking to cancel my subscription.

>> Reply to open AI with hello. I would like to cancel my subscription. Regards, I'm not in mail.

In this scenario, Siri AI is better in referencing the actual email messages, which is not the case on the other side. In contrast, Gemini's draft is so much better when compared to the very basic one of Siri. So in this case, I will call it a draw as each one had its own advantage and give each one a point. When was my last flight to Egypt on Fly Emirates?

>> Based on your travel history, your last flight to Egypt on Emirates was on June 12th, 2026 from Dubai to Cairo.

>> Find me a similar flight on the 15th of July.

>> Here are the direct oneway Emirates flights from Dubai DXB to Cairo CI on July 15th, 2026. EK929. Set a reminder to book EK921 one week before.

>> I've set a reminder to book flight EK921 for July 8, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. 1 week before the flight.

When was my last flight to Egypt on Fly Emirates?

>> Your last flight to Egypt on Emirates was flight E K 929 on June 12th, 2026 from Dubai International Airport to Cairo International Airport. Find me a similar flight on the 15th of July.

>> I found a similar flight on July 15th, 2026.

>> Set a reminder to book EK921 one week before.

>> Do you want to add book EK921 to your list in reminders?

>> Yes,

>> I've set a reminder to book EK921 for July 8th, 2026, which is 1 week before the flight.

In this scenario, both did exactly the same thing, which is great. So, one point each. So overall in the personal context both are very capable with a slight edge to Gemini with only half a point difference in the score. And now let's move on to the next category.

The next category is the screen awareness. Here I'm going to show each one different things and ask for more details. What's the best time to visit this place?

>> The best time to visit Tila Island Resort near Hagata is between October and April. During these peak season months, the Red Sea region experiences pleasant, comfortable weather with daytime temperatures averaging between 20 degrees C and 30.

>> The best time to visit Toila Island is generally between October and April.

In the first question, both gave pretty much the same answer, but Gemini has the edge in providing the location and the Toila Island Resort rating, which is missing from Siri, so it takes half a point extra. How much does it cost per night?

>> A night at Tila Island Resort typically starts around 32,195 Egyptian pounds per night, approximately USD6 $670 for a standard luxury room or villa depending on the

>> I couldn't find the exact nightly rates for Tila Island Resort as they vary depending on the dates and room type you choose. However, day use for outside gu

Siri couldn't give me the night rates, but it only provided me with the day use cost, while Gemini provided me with all the information I need in addition to multiple options I can choose from. So, it takes a point versus zero points to see. How to get there by car?

>> To reach Sila Island Resort by car, you will need to drive to Aluna or Herata Marina as the resort itself is located on an offshore island and is only accessible by boat. From either marina, you can take a pre-arranged boat transfer or water taxi.

>> You cannot drive directly to Tuila Island as it is located in the Red Sea. However, you can drive or take a taxi to Marina Abidos in Aluna or Herata and from there you will need

In the last question Siri was better as it provided me with the exact duration of each trip not only the highlevel information like Gemini. So it takes one and a half point versus one point only to Gemini. The second scenario under this category is to ask for more questions about a YouTube video. List all the features mentioned in this video in bullet points classified by the chapter name.

>> Based on a video from the in-depth tech reviews channel, here are the features and changes introduced in Android 17 QPR1 beta 5 organized by the chapters discussed in the video. Home screen tweaks, pixel search settings under the app. Here are the features and updates included in Android 17 QPR1 beta 5 classified by their general categories and chapters.

In this scenario, Siri did something totally different. It picked the video name, then located the new features from a website called bbomb.com and the bug fixes from 9to5 Google, while Gemini did exactly what I asked for. It picked up the features I mentioned in the video with the timestamps and the actual chapter names. So, one points to Gemini versus zero points to Siri. But it doesn't only stop here. Gemini takes it a step further with the live screen sharing capability. So, you can start a session, jump between different pages, ask different questions about different things at the same time without the need to re-trigger the assistant with each screen. And that gives you much more flexibility. So, it takes one more point extra versus zero points to see. So, overall in the screen awareness category, the win goes to Gemini with a big margin.

And now let's move on to the next one. Before jumping to the next category, if you like the wallpapers you've seen in this video, go ahead and download the wallpapers by In-Depth Tech Reviews app. That will give you access to hundreds of exclusive wallpapers that will make your smartphone look stunning. If you are an Android user, you will find Google Play Store download link in the description. But for iOS users, you can download the same wallpapers through my Patreons page, which you will also find its link in the description. And now let's get back to the comparison.

The next category is to check which one is better in generating or editing photos and videos. And in this case, I will use the relevant apps of each one. In this scenario, I provided the same photo asking both to generate an image of this person riding a horse in the same environment. So let's tap on send to see what's going to happen. Here's the end result. And as you see, Siri decided to do something totally different. The subject doesn't look anything like me. It's a totally different Asian guy on the horse and the whole photo looks fake. But when you compare this to Gemini, you will see a much better result. The photo looks very realistic and the person looks exactly like me. So, one point to Gemini versus zero points to Siri. Here's another trial to give Siri one more chance. This time, I provided two separate photos of me and my son, asking both to merge subjects in one photo. So, let's tap on send and see the result. Here's the end result. And as expected, Gemini did really well. The photo looks very realistic and I cannot tell the difference if this photo is AI generated or not. While Siri failed to process my request twice, so one point only to Gemini.

In the third scenario, I will use the image playground app on the iPhone as it gives me four different styles to choose from in addition to chat GPT which are missing from Siri app. While on Gemini, everything is included in the same app, which is easier. Plus, when you go to images, you will see a lot more styling options in comparison. And because of this, Gemini takes half a point extra. For the sake of this comparison, let's choose the same sketch option on both. Then provide the same images of me and my friend and ask both to merge the two subjects in one image. And now, let's give it a try. Here's the end result. and both generated images that look very similar to the real subjects but with totally different styles. So it depends on your personal taste and I will call it a draw giving each one a point. And the last scenario in the images comparison is to edit a photo without changing the overall look. So I provided the same photo asking both to remove that person from the image. So let's see what's going to happen. Here is the end result and Siri said I can't remove the person from the photo directly but I can open it in edit mode for you which means I have to remove the person only in Apple photos while Gemini did the request for me without a prop. So that gives an extra point to Gemini.

Then comes generating videos. Unfortunately Siri AI doesn't support generating videos. So for example, if I provided an image saying generate a video of this person running, it will give me an error saying I can't generate videos. While Gemini supports this functionality. So let's take a look at the end results. It generated a 10 seconds video with audio. And here is how it looks. So, one more point to Gemini. Plus, you have the ability to create your own avatar, which I did, and then you can generate videos of yourself without the need to provide any photos in the future. In this case, I'm asking Gemini to generate a video of me saying, "This is my in-depth comparison of Gemini versus Siri AI." And let's take a look at the result. This is my in-depth comparison of Gemini versus Siri AI. It looks and sounds exactly like me. So, one more point to Gemini. So, overall in the images and videos category, the win goes to Gemini with a big margin.

Now, let's compare the dictation. Apple claims better systemwide dictation with Siri AI. So, let's put it into action against Google's assistant voice typing. I will read a couple of paragraphs, but I will make it as hard as possible by coughing. Clear my throat. Pause. Use some arms to see which one will better handle the situation. Somewhere deep and hidden within Google's Mountain View. California headquarters, the company's internal advanced technology and projects group spent years of research and development on something we know to be objects in proximity. Um, in other words, the tech is short range radio waves to detect and measures objects in proximity. In other words, the tech is a kind of radar system. And now let's compare the results. Siri did more mistakes when compared to the assistant voice typing. The first one is over here. It says years of research while the correct statement is years of research. The second mistake is over here. Siri says in other words that take a short range while the correct one is that tick is short range. The only mistake assistant voice typing did is it added the word the before measures which is incorrect. So overall in the accuracy the win goes to the assistant voice typing with one and a half point versus only one point to Siri AI. On top of this, assistant voice typing is the only one that supports editing commands. And here is how it works. Hi, how are you today? Clear. Undo. Exclamation mark. Delete. I'm fine. Delete. Delete. New line. As you saw, it's a day and night difference. So, one more point to the assistant voice type. Not to mention that Google is planning to improve it even further with the help of Gemini as shown in the IO event. So let's see what's going to happen in the future.

Next comes the writing tools. With iOS 27, Apple improved this functionality with the help of Siri. So you can do a research or write a whole document in whatever app you want using this write with Siri button. While Google is still using the same old approach in Gboard. Technically, you can do the same on Android using the Gemini app. But this approach is easier because you get access to it anywhere throughout the OS. So, here's a quick side-by-side comparison between the two to show you how they work. I'm asking both to list the top 10 features of iOS 27. So, let's tap on the enter key on both. In this example, Gboard dealt with the situation as if I'm trying to rewrite the same line again with different styles while Siri did a whole research, collected all the new features. So, I can tap on hold to copy and paste the information in my note like this. So, it deserves a point. Plus, when writing in mail and messages apps, Siri can reflect how users usually communicate with each recipient, including the punctuation and the tone they typically use. I didn't have the chance to test this feature, but we don't have anything similar in Google's writing tools. So, I will give one more point to Siri.

Now, let's compare the camera features offered in both. With iOS 27, Siri has a dedicated camera mode in the camera app. It's basically Apple's version of Google Lens. They have a lot of similarities like the ability to translate text, get visual matches, quick shortcuts to call text or create calendar events, and more. So, one point each. But there are two big features in Google Lens that Siri lacks. First, it supports live video. So, you can start a session to ask as many questions as you want without the need to re-trigger the feature every single time. So, it takes a point. Plus, it integrates Gemini's Nano Banana, which allows you to snap a shot and edit it right away without the need to open the app. So, one more point to Gemini. Exclusive feature Siri has is the ability to split bills in Apple Wallet. But unfortunately, it doesn't work for me at the time of filming this video, but I will give it the point anyways. But overall, Google Lens is way more powerful when compared to the Siri camera mode. Additionally, Gemini has its own live video stream that doesn't only answer your questions like Google Lens live feature, but also gives you real-time guidance on how to operate things with visual cues, which is something Siri AI lacks. So, one more point to Gemini to get the overall win in this category by a big margin.

Now, I'm done with the comparison, and here are the overall scores. Yes, Gemini is in the lead in most categories, but this version of Siri is way better than what we used to have. This is the first time in a serial comparison not to hear its famous line, I found this on the web, which is a big thing in its own. So, please let me know what do you think in the comments about the new Siri AI. But for now, thanks so much for watching and see you in the next.
