In this prison, you had to pay just to turn the lights off. If a prisoner had no money, they were forced to sleep under blinding lights all night. But inmates could earn money by working, just enough to survive.
One day, a large box arrived at the prison. Inside were thick knitting needles, saws of yarn, and a guide book. The boy followed the instructions and managed to knit a child's hat for the very first time. Then, he placed the hat near the window and earned 20 cents for it, but his real goal was still far away. He needed a lot more money to hire a lawyer.
The problem was prison expenses never ended. A single roll of toilet paper cost 50. One meal cost a dollar. Saving money there felt almost impossible. After a month, his knitting became much better. Now he could make all kinds of things. To save even more money, he started eating only once a day.
After non-stop work, he finally managed to save enough. He immediately called his mother. But the moment the call connected, a timer appeared on the screen, showing how much the call was costing. He quickly told his mother that he needed money for a lawyer, but before she could fully understand, his balance ran out and the call disconnected. He felt completely crushed, like all his hard work had meant nothing.
After that, he quietly passed the days. Whenever he got hungry, he knitted something just to buy food. Even when the system showed notifications about incoming money, he ignored them. Eventually, the final day of his 3-month deadline arrived. The system kept pressuring him to confess to the crime. That's when he noticed an unread message on the screen. He opened it and saw that money had been transferred into his account. He immediately hired a lawyer.
As soon as the payment went through, the lawyer's face appeared on the screen, but right away, the lawyer said there was no chance of winning the case. He told him to just confess, then ended the call. The truth was the boy had simply been walking down the street. But because of an unknown complaint, the police arrested him anyway. In the end, all his money was gone and he still didn't get the freedom he hoped for.
Defeated, he lay down on his bed. Then suddenly, a new message appeared on the system. It said he had been proven innocent and would soon be released.
