Okay, here we're doing the fins. You want to make four of them. Eight half double crochets in a magic circle. What I like to do when I'm using plush yarn is pull this a little bit earlier than you normally would. You keep crocheting in that little hole, but then you don't have to worry about, um, it shredding or being hard to pull with all the stitches on.
Once you get past this, um, first row, it's usually pretty easy using plush yarn. Sometimes that first one can be tricky. Okay, slip stitch to the front and we're going to increase with the same half double crochet in each around again. Attach it with a slip stitch to the front stitch. I like to hide that, um, little tail from the magic circle inside. Less sewing.
Okay, here we're going through the first gap and you're gonna half double crochet twice. And then as you go across, you're going to go through both sides of your circle to make a half circle. And you'll do that five times. And we're going to end with two half double crochets in this last section. Then you'll fasten off.
Now we're ready to do the head. This is a single crochet eight times. Now it's time to increase. Two single crochet, two single crochets in each one around for a total of 16. This round is a, you single crochet once and then increase in the next. Now two rows where you just single crochet in each round. Now single crochet once and then invisible decrease. The invisible decrease is the same as a normal decrease, except for you only go through those front loops and that makes it look more seamless.
Time to add the eyes. These are 12-millimeter eyes and you attach them between rows four and five and about seven stitches apart. Timed invisible decrease in each one around. This will leave us with eight stitches and one more round where you single crochet in each one around.
Now we are starting the top of the shell. Magic circle with eight single crochets. Now we're increasing. Two single crochets in each around. Single crochet in the first and then single crochet increase in the next, and you repeat that around.
Okay, we're going up one more round. Single crochet in the first two, single crochet increase in the next. You repeat that around. This will bring you to a total of 32 stitches. Now on rows five through seven, single crochet in each round.
Here we're going to go through the front loop only. See how my hook separates that there? I'll show you again. Just through that front loop and then single crochet as normal. And you'll do that all around. This is round nine where we attach everything. Is crocheted entirely in the back loop. That was, that's what makes the raised shell.
You start with two single crochets and now we're going to attach one of the fins. The ray or the seam part is what faces towards the tail. So if you set it like how it needs to be and flip it up, you'll have that on the top. We're going to attach through that second stitch through the fin and then the shell and single crochet as normal. And then we're going to go through that top stitch and then the shell and single crochet as normal. The single crochets needs to be under the fin because that's what you'll be working in on the next round. Then we will single crochet in the next seven.
Now we attach the next fin. Same thing. You want that seamed edge facing backwards and you're going to go through that second stitch on the fin and then the shell. Okay, then through that top stitch and then the shell. Single crochet as normal. Single crochet one. And then we're going to attach the head. When you pick up the head to attach it, you want to make sure the eyes are on top and then you squeeze the neck and then find the top four stitches. There's eight total on that neck and we're going to attach using the top four.
Now when we attach, we're going to use a slip stitch here and you go through the shell and then the neck and slip stitch. And I accidentally single crochet here. Don't do that. They're all slip stitches. So this will be the third one. Slip stitch and number four. Slip stitch. Single crochet one. And now we're going to attach the third fin. This side is a little bit different. Same way to attach, except for we're just starting in that top stitch because of the way we're going. So we're going to start here at the top and then through the shell and single crochet as normal. And then we're going to single crochet in that second stitch and that's what keeps it flat and even. Again, make sure your single crochets are underneath.
Now single crochet seven. Okay, and here we're attaching the last fin. Again, go through that top stitch on the fin and then through the next stitch on the shell. Single crochet. Second stitch, single crochet. Single crochet in the remaining two stitches for a total of 32.
Okay, this is the round where we're going to finish attaching the head. You single crochet 14. That will take you up to those four stitches that we need for the head. Okay, and these bottom ones you do single crochet because we are going to use those stitches for our next round. So that's one and now two and then three and four.
Okay, so that is the opening. Um, make sure you stuff it really well. Remember if you still have space in there to stuff before you finish all the way. Okay, now we're going to pull tight and looks pretty good. Now I just like to weave in my end and I just do that by going different directions through. That's one of the nice things about plush yarn is it's so much easier to hide those kind of things. Pull as tight as you can and cut in the end and that end should go back into the turtle. And there you have it. Your one-hour no-sew turtle.
