Alberta Quigley Ministry - Episode 28

The Marketplace Network28:13

Transcription

Hi, this is Chet McBroom, executive pastor of Hearts of Fire Church, and you are on the Marketplace Network. In fact, it's not my program today. It's the great Alberta Quigley. And so Alberta's got a great word for us today and a testimony that I think you're going to find very powerful. You're going to want to stick with us.

We're here today at First Fruits Revolution Ministries. It's downtown Pu, Washington. If you have a chance, drop by. Pastor Steve and Tina are beautiful people and they're allowing us to use this space today. I love this picture behind us. It represents to me the tree of life found in Revelation 22. And so what do you got for us today, Alberta?

Well, I want to talk about families and ministry.

Okay.

Yeah.

That's a good topic.

Do you want to read the scripture?

Sure.

You have a scripture here?

Yeah.

Oh, you want to read about the when Jesus was on the cross here it looks like and about Mary his mother.

Okay. So, she's got her Bible. This is her Bible. She has her

From Billboard.

Yeah. A friend of hers for a holiday gift. Yeah.

So, it looks like we're going to read from John chapter 19. And I'm going to start with uh verse 20 where uh Jesus is on the cross. I like the context here. And I hope Alberta doesn't mind. I'm going to sprinkle in a little extra here before we get to the main point. And I think you'll like that, too. So here we go. It's uh John 19 verse 20, old King James version, New King James Version, by the way. Then many of the Jews read this title. Now Jesus is on the cross and they're surrounding him and up above him uh Pontius Pilate had a plaque put up there above him. So it says then many of the Jews read this title for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city and it was written in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. Those three languages were spoken in the day. However, Greek was probably the most prominent language even within the land of Israel. But Hebrew was put on there and of course uh Latin was uh the language of government for Rome. Therefore, the chief priest of the Jews said to Pilate, because they're looking at that sign, do not write king of the Jews. But he said, I'm the king of the Jews. And Pilate answered, I have written what I have written. Because remember Pilate found no fault in that man. It was only under compulsion that he uh had him crucified. And so then the soldiers when they had crucified Jesus took his garments and made four parts to each soldier one part and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from top in one piece. They said therefore among themselves the soldiers, "Let us not tear it, but let us cast cast lots for it, who it shall be, that the scripture might be fulfilled, which says, they divided my garments amongst them, and they cast lots for my clothing." Now, this is right out of Psalm 22. So, Psalm 22 is being lived out in living color right here at the cross. In fact, when Jesus was on the cross, one of the first things he said was the Psalm 22:1. In Hebrew, it's Eli Elam Sabakani. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? And many Christians believe that God turned his face away from him. And I think the evidence points another direction. This is a plug for one of my earlier programs. Hope Alberta doesn't mind. It's called uh did God in fact turn his way a face away from Jesus? And I think a lot of the evidence shows differently. But reading on here,

Therefore the soldiers did these things. Now here's where Alberta really wants to get in and dig in and and talk about it. Verse 25. Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother his mother's sister Mary the wife of Claus and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing by probably the Apostle John. He said to his mother, "Behold your son." Then he said to his disciple, "Behold your mother." And from that hour, that disciple took his own took her into his own home. Again, that hour the disciple took her into his own,

You know, that disciple could have said, "No, Jesus, I'm too busy."

Yeah.

I can't take her in.

I don't have any room to fulfill.

That's true. Overall. I can't do Jesus said take her in.

That's right.

Jesus loves families.

That's a great point. I think

Families.

Yep.

And you know, he the Lord loves it when there's some grandmas and grandpas out here who are taking care of their grandkids, right?

Mhm.

One thing I like about Chad a lot. I do. But the one thing is he's got a son and he's been a real good dad. Now I had a daughter who was very very ill. This is when the ministry was really getting, you know, I've been on the major networks and the ministry was growing.

And I but she was very sick. I helped with the first boy that she had and he traveled with me. He did 25,000 miles in one year.

Wow.

But um with me and he was only he was just a young boy. But here's what the Lord said to me the second time. So I'm washing dishes and she's sick almost to death. She almost died three times.

Wow.

And I'm washing the dishes and I'm thinking, Jesus, I start griping to the Lord. Have you ever griped to the Lord?

Do I have to be honest? I said, "Oh, this ministry is growing now. I guess I might have to take care of another grandchild." All of a sudden, Chad, I bought my little grandson. He was five. I bought him a Wii, you know, one of the game system, and they have a melody on it.

Yeah.

So, I'm in there griping and all of a sudden, I hear this little voice do. He made up a song to go with that melody. All of a sudden, he started singing, "Jesus will be back. Jesus will be back." And I said, "What?" I had to run in. I said, "Where did you get that?" He said, "From the Lord."

Wow.

I had to repent. I went off and I repented.

Wow.

You know what the Lord said to me?

What?

And you bring him into your ministry.

Oh, how old was he at the time?

Five.

Wow.

And I said, he said, "Can you consider him a member of you? Can you consider taking care of him a ministry?" I said, "Okay." I did it with the first one. So, I I said, "Okay, I'll I'll take him in in the ministry." And do you know what? What a blessing that was. But I was driving home with him because my daughter said, "Mom, please take him. I can't. I'm just" And she was very ill.

And so I put him in the car and put him in his little car seat. And as I'm driving down the highway, I get a call from a couple of big donors.

And they said to me, they said, "Albert, where are you?" I said, "Well, I just picked up my little grandson. My daughter's ill almost to death."

Mhm.

And they said, 'Well, since you're doing that, you're not receiving another offering from us. Do you understand?

Wow.

She said, 'You you should be doing ministry instead of taking care of a grandkid. Well, they better be glad I had my coffee before. I did not tell them all. But what I did say, I said, "Okay, I don't need your money anymore."

Yeah.

Keep your money. Sure enough, they'd never donate it again. But the little grandson was sitting in his seat in the back and I forgot he was sitting back there.

Oh.

And the thing was on and he heard. He said, "Grandma," he said, "How come they don't like me?" I said, "Oh, they're just being foolish. They everybody loves you."

Mhm.

Anyway, so I made him part of the ministry and it was the most wonderful thing I have done. And when you mean you made him a part of the ministry, he was your ministry.

Yeah. I took him traveling with me. I took him to TBN and Oh, you did?

Yeah. And he was on with a friend of mine. That was a couple years later.

Wow.

And so what I want to say is this, Chad. God loves families.

Yes. And if you're criticized for taking care of your family, whether it was my grandkids or your own, and people are saying, "Look, uh you got to just uh first think of the Lord and then uh think of uh this this kid you have."

Mhm.

Well, yeah, you can think of both because God wants you to join that kid into him.

Yeah.

And you can keep, like you'd say, Chad, you can keep a balance.

Yeah. There should be a balance.

Yeah. You don't have to feel bad. Oh, I can't be with my kid tonight because of Well, then take them along if you can't be. If you can possibly take them with you.

Yeah. We live in a fallen world, you know, and probably more than ever, even though we have a modern lifestyle and stuff, people are getting sick. People in your family may get messed up. And that's the time for us to step in, especially if they have children. Jesus says, you know, let those children come to me. Remember when the disciples tried to hold them off? No, let them come to me for such as of the kingdom. Well, I took my first grandson, Bill Henderson, call and he says, "Will you come down to California and be in the street ministry?" I said, "Okay." So, I grabbed my grandson. We flew down there.

And Bill says, "Oh, by the way, I'm taking your grandson out to the roughest part of LA." I said, "What?" He said, "Yeah, I'm taking you to where it's one of the roughest places."

That sounds like Bill.

You know what he did? Put him on a street corner hold

Holding a sign or something.

I said, "What?" That was the first grandson. But my grandson was happy to do that. He said, "Oh, I get to minister for Jesus."

Oh.

And Bill's having fun. And I'm like the grandmother who's saying, "Why did you bring my grandson down to this place?"

Yeah.

You know, and Bill said, "So I can learn something." Alberta.

Good. Yes. That's cool. Thank you, Bill. Between all the ministers and everything. They both learned a lot. I wished I had time to tell you everything those two learned.

But I did a a big full gospel businessman convention at a hotel. Now, I'm going to tell you this and then I want to hear from Chad, too.

So, I'm the speaker, right?

Mhm.

So I come back to my table at the hotel and I can't find the youngest grandson anywhere.

And I said, "Where are you?" I'm calling his name. I couldn't find him.

Oh no.

I prayed and I had everybody in that hotel looking for him.

Yeah.

He said, "Well, while I was preaching and probably what happened,

You know what?

What?

The Lord said, "Lift up your tablecloth."

I lift up a tablecloth.

Yeah.

And he had slept under my feet in the table.

That's why we couldn't find him.

Wow.

So, a lot of good things happened. And like I said, the first one earned 25,000 miles the first year, and I don't know how many the other one did.

Wow.

But both grandsons, the Lord said, "Can you consider them in your ministry? Can you consider this a ministry?

Right?

Okay, I will. And some people hated it, some people loved it, but you can't pay attention to people. What you need to pay attention to, like Chad did, his son, he's got a great son. He just got married.

Just got married this weekend.

Beautiful pastor's daughter.

Yep. Senior pastor's daughter. Does youth ministry, my son? Yep.

Yeah. And so we can go out and we can minister to thousands of people like I was doing at the second grandson when I took him.

You know that win the world. But what about a grandson or granddaughter who have nowhere to go?

Yes.

What about one of your son or your daughters saying, "Hey dad, hey mom, will you at least take time for me before you go out that car that door to minister?"

Yes.

Take the time. Take them with you if you have to. So, Chad, what do you think of all that?

I think it's good. I think there's a lot of principles that we can learn here. Sometimes we can get unbalanced in our approach, especially for those that are in the ministry. You know, we need balance. And there are times that we're called upon to take care of our families. And so, uh, you know, I was just going to grab the book of James here real quick. And uh pure it's I just I'll just quote it. It's in the book of James. Pure and undefiled religion is this that we care for the orphans and the widows. What the principle is there those that are at risk. And so it can be children, right? Children are at risk especially if their parents got caught up in some kind of mess. Maybe it's or whatever.

Life's a mess.

Maybe to bring those children in if you can.

Or if you have a sick relative and they have young children, you know, take care of those children. Help, take care, step in.

And then make them your ministry for that time period. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us in chapter three, there's a season for everything. And my season was the reverse. Instead of taking care of children, I was called to take care of my father who was moving into advanced dementia. And when I actually went to the house, he didn't know me as his son. And it was very abusive towards me. He knew my mom, but he really didn't know me. And I was there 24/7. Beautiful part is you know scripture tells us to honor our father and mother that this is the first commandment with a promise that it may go well with us and that we would see length of days. I know a friend of mine that you know Jacob he took care of his mother uh through cancer until she passed and then he took care of his father who had a stroke until he passed. And I'm telling you, he was at the time he was a music minister, kind of an evangelist guy, missionary. And coming out of that season, he was highly anointed. So don't think that you're having to step down necessarily, you know, if you're caught up in some ministry.

God wants us to take care of those people around us.

And in doing so, I guarantee you, you'll be blessed. Well, either one of them had their dads ran off when she got pregnant. So, they didn't either one of them had a dad. What does it say about the fatherless that you know the word to watch out for the fatherless? But

But with both of them, the Lord said, "Can you make them part of your ministry?" Well, let me tell you what happened with the second one. Um, he was five then and he told me, "Grandma," he said, "Uh, I said, "What happened to you last night?" And he said, "Jesus took me to a giant waterfall and we played in that waterfall.

In heaven.

I said, "He did?" He said, "Yeah." Then he said to me, "Don't be afraid here. Nobody will hurt you." And then after they played in the waterfall, he said that Jesus came and stood in front of me and held his chin up like that and he said, "I'm sorry your mother is going to die, but I'll take good care of you and your grandmother." This is before even the thought came up.

Wow.

Well, she did not die physically, but she was so sick that that she could not uh take care of him like uh like she wanted to. So, she unselfishly gave him up.

Because she knew she could not care for him. And believe me, like I said, almost three times she died. So here's the point I'm making, Chad, is that if you're taking care of your mother or your dad or or some kids, grandkids, don't you feel guilty.

And say, "Lord, I have failed you."

You know, when those people cut me off from any finances, uh, I just hung up the phone and said, "That's okay. God will make a way some other way."

Yeah. So what you have to do, I firmly believe, is ask the Lord, should I take him in? Well, I got my answer when my little grandson was singing, Jesus, will you be back? Did it remain?

Yep. So don't feel bad if you have to take care of your mom, your dad,

Kids, children, whatever it is, he will honor that. That's pure religion, as James says.

Yeah.

Taking care of the vulnerable.

And some people say, well, love.

To just let those grandkids suffer and it's tough love not to take your son or daughter in.

Could be, but that's not Jesus. But I said want that kind of tough love. I'll take the love of Christ.

So, you know, pray before you take them in.

Yeah.

And like me, God confirmed it. You know me, Chad, I have to have 500 blackbirds flying upside down.

Yeah.

Day.

Yep.

It's like someone told me, "Hey, Albert, your husband's coming. You're going to have a husband." What I say, Chad? Well, I'll believe it when I see 500 blackbirds flying upside down. Then I'll believe it.

Winter day.

Yeah, on a cold winter day. Well, it's actually a cold winter day outside right here in the Pacific Northwest. No blackbirds, though.

And no, nobody asked me to.

Yeah.

Anyhow, that's okay. But

Sometime I'm doing a show with Jet and I get dogone silly. But let me tell you this, Chadz went through that with his mom, his His mom. He's got the most wonderful mom I've ever met. You talk about a woman of God.

Yep.

And his dad and he was a man of God. But Chad, you took the

He was a man of integrity. At the end when we were in the hospital, he had fell and shattered his leg. This was like 48 hours before he was going to pass. He was I mean he couldn't even remember that he couldn't stand up on his own. It was really bad. Like 3 minutes later, I just somebody wasn't there at that specific time to see that he was okay and bam, he fell and he was in the hospital in extreme pain.

And uh we were in emergency, the family was there and u uh I was there by myself with him for a little bit and boom, God just gave him perfect clarity of mind for just a little bit and he says, "Chad, am I going to die?" I said, 'Yeah, the book of Hebrews says it's appointed man once to die and then the judgment. But I said, 'Dad, it's really not about dying. Everybody's going to die unless the Lord shows up, of course. But I said, everyone resurrects.

Hear me now. Everyone resurrects. It's really what's your destination after resurrection, right?

And so dad says, he gives me the big eyes. I go, "Dad, it's simple. Jesus has made a way. It's a finished work. All you have to do is accept that finished work on his behalf.

And then you have the destination where you want to be. I'm telling you. So he actually said, "Well, what do I need to do?" And he asked, "Is it going to hurt?" That was wild.

No, it's going to feel really good. And so we went through the prayer real quickly. The next day I got another time with him when he finally got a room and uh was laying in the bed and he was you know in a hotel uh excuse me in a hospital room you have those TVs that are up high and I was by myself again with him and bam he was back with his mind you know for like 10 minutes again and he was like who are those guys up there and you know TV's on and I go what what are you talking about those two you mean what's on TV no those two guys right there. He was talking about angels.

Wow.

They exist, believe me.

Yeah. So, I said, "Well, Dad, we we talked a little bit about it and stuff. We We decided that they were actually not demons because we have fallen angels and good angels." So, I said, "Well, Dad, they're the good ones. They're there. They're there for you." I said, "If you see a bright light behind him and they want you to go with them, know that the family's okay. Just go with them." was the next day that he died, but he got saved right there at the end. It was a blessing.

Would have said, "No, I'm not. No, no, I'm not going to do that."

Chad was led to do that. And you can be led, too. I'm not saying just do whatever.

But seek God about it. Say, "Lord, what's your will in this situation?"

Yeah.

What's your will?

And believe me, he will tell you his will.

Yep. And he's the Lord God in the book of John created everything the was and everything that's ever going to be. He created families.

He had a family of his own. Right.

Yep. Yep.

He had a big family.

And in the end he told his disciple, you take care of her.

Mhm.

Well, he said to Alberta, "Can you put them? Can you make this ministry? Can you make taking care of your grandkids a ministry?" I said, "Yeah." And you know what? It worked out so perfect. And Chad, what you did with your dad was a ministry, too.

Yeah, it was.

So, uh, how much time I got left, Chad?

I think it's time to pray it out.

Okay, let's pray. And by the way, we would sure love to hear from you. I if you need to call me 719-4786153.

Number will be down here on the screen.

On the screen. So right now I'm going to pray and then I'm going to ask Chad to pray too. So heavenly father, we thank you in Jesus name for this program. And Father God, we thank you that if there's someone watching and you're feeling guilty about taking care of your parents, taking care of your grandkids or your own kids, don't feel that way. Fit them right into the ministry with you. It's tough. You know, they had to go fly on a lot of flights with me, but I did take them. And I'm not boasting on that. I'm saying that I heard the voice of the Lord, and I'm not one bit sorry. So if you have a need and you say, "Well, Alberta, I'm too busy." Then pray about it. I'm not saying just do it, you know, without seeking God, but seek the Lord. And if you've got a child or maybe two or three at home and when you walk out the door to do ministry and they said, "Hey, mom. Hi, hey, Dad." You know, God, yes, God will have you do ministry, but please consider your kids, grandkids, or your mom and dad, your family, because Jesus is a family man. Go ahead, Chad. Would you?

Yeah. Let's pray out. So, Father, right now in the name of Jesus, we thank you, Lord, for your word. You lay out the principles and the promises in your word. And Lord, you show us that uh pure religion is taking care of those vulnerable people and there's promises in taking care of our parents. Father, right now we just ask and pray, Lord, that you just bless those people out there. Maybe some are in tough circumstances with family. Lord, I pray that they would just endure the time knowing that God's promising uh provision. He's promising uh elevation if they'll just step up and take care of their family. God, we just thank you for this time together with them. We ask and pray that you bless those people out there in Jesus mighty name. And remember to pray Psalm 91:11 over them. Ask God to get give the angels charge over them in all their ways.

Yes. And Alberta, you have a book available, too, don't you?

Yes, I do.

What's it entitled?

We have it on uh Amazon. You can buy it there. It'll be on the screen for you. Uh take a look at that book. It's about some of these testimonies just like you heard today. And so, uh, until next time here on the Marketplace Network, as I always like to say, and there will be a next time, I'll see you right here.

Get a hold of us. God bless you.

Bye-bye for now.
