[Music] [Applause] An NBA history, let's talk about this guy. 10th time and big all-star, right? PS3 rings on his hand too. Angry? They score? Matt Silas? And a two-time MVP and all-star? Think it is only right now. The box awesome up. I can't be Brian. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Is going on? Koby play in the building. Wow! I know right? Thanks again for coming on chauffeur's a day after Super Bowl. What'd you think of the game? What you think of every? Thought it was an incredible game, you know. I think Eli Manning and the Giants have made big plays when they needed to. I mean, that's what you have to do to win the championship. They did it. Are you a big football fan? Do you have a big football family? Eagles fan? Are you a Cowboys fan? Those diehard all the way. Yeah, yeah. I played football, played baseball, but basketball is where I found the true sense of enjoyment. I mean, that's just what I love to do. And I know the audience over here, they would scream your name. And we got to congratulate you. This is your NBA all-star for the 10th consecutive time. That is a huge accomplishment. When you think about where you came from in your road to success, what do you think when you were Fleck back on your career? And he isn't elite? You know, I just, I've had a great time. I've had a great time. It's been a lot of hard work, but if you love what you do, you truly never work a day in your life. So, and I just enjoy doing what I'm doing, and I've been very fortunate. I've been very blessed to play with so many great players and having, you know, 10 all-star games. They bet.
All right, so Kobe's in the back. Obese? Kobe's in the locker room. He's getting ready for the game. He's got his eye pie right there. What's he listening to to get warmed up? Jays always in there. Kanye's always in there. Since always? Outkast? Yeah, I mix it up a little. Well, what about let's, let's mix up your life story right now, right? We have Kobe Bryant in diapers. Kobe Bryant when he first touched the basketball. But Kobe right when he got into the league. If you were to write a book on your life, where would you start? We can start with the diapers. With type? The diapers and the basketball go hand in hand because since I was in diapers, I had a basketball. So we can start there. Have you ever thought about writing a book? Seriously? No, no, not really. Not really. Never, never really crossed my mind.
Well, when you think back in your career, does it ever cross your mind the first time you really dunked on somebody real greasy? And you tell the story like you remember that. You might be sitting with Michael Charles Oakley one day like, "Yeah, but you remember that time?" Was it one of them times for you? I had one of those moments. He's my, my second year in the league. That's when I had to throw the big nappy fro. Yeah, moved out. Playing against the Washington Wizards in the preseason. Came down the lane and I was able to tomahawk one over my bad Ben Wallace. That kind of... I wasn't mad at that.
When you think, we're right before you go onto the, onto the court. You got any pregame rituals? Anything you do? I always say a prayer when the bench getting ready for the game. Is a prayer. Then I just try to relax. I'll clean my mind and go out there and do what I do. Goes right there.
So look, y'all give it up for Kobe Bryant once again. And it's so exciting looking at your team. You guys just had a major trade. What do you think about everything going on right now? You feel like you got the weapons in place? Well, you know, we're still a young team, but young players have developed tremendously. You know, Andrew Bynum has developed into a force now. You got Pau Gasol, all-star, extremely talented and versatile. So you add him to the mix. You're looking at a front line of Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum. 6'10", 7 feet, 7'1". So, a that's a good look. Very big guys. In Spain? No. Y'all looking right now, you're like, this is 106 of parka? Yes, it is. Because we're getting back into the video. Here's number six video of Mario crying out for me. Smoke will be bright on the whale. Yeah, we got NBA superstar, tank top NBA all-star and his sneaker fresher than yours. Kobe Bryant is in the house! Yes!
When you started off your career, you was rocking the number 8 Jersey. What reasons was that? Number significance to you? Well, it was that first chapter of my career. Very fortunate, won three championships, you know. And now I felt like that chapter is closed. Now it's time to start something new. It's time to leave that where it is now. It's time to begin a new chapter. So I wanted to change number, and I went with 24. Because 24 hours in a day, take it one day at a time, one step at a time. That's why I selected 24. Because a lot of people so much money did that for one day. I know, look, Mike's my guy. People see, people you know who's better? You want Mike? And also stuff city kid. You know, Mike is 'cause I learn everything from him. He's one of my mentors. I speak to him and he talks to me about it, gives me advice about the game, leadership, and things like that. So I can't, you know, I don't want to be compared with Michael Jordan. But true, there has been that one-on-one tournament that you and Mike have played. It somebody's cribs, 'cause y'all probably both have your own basketball gyms. So who has the better average right now? No, I know right now you don't stand a shot. Right now? Back in the day, me? Mike was a monster. Yeah, he was a monster. In my competitive spirit, I would love to play against him. When I first came in the NBA, I had an opportunity to play against number 96, 97, and you know I learned so much just by playing against them, as well as Clyde, wrestling some of the others.
Our generation is gonna call you that monster. 81 points last year. We haven't been out yet. Give it up for... I know the Raptors are sitting in like, "Him? Why do you have to go to it?" But what do you think about when you think of scoring 81 points, man? You know, it was just one of those things, man. I'll not explain it. You know, it's just, it just kept going in. You guys, this is one of those days you just feel like you talked with hook shop and half-court, the ball goes in. Got a really good rhythm, and things just happen.
Well, something that's not happening? This he's not going anywhere. So y'all keep the... like Kobe Bryant needs no introduction. You know what he does. So what's the next big thing for Kobe? What's the next big thing? We want to do is win a championship. That's the key. Well, you have to see Jersey tomorrow before you do back? No question. I'm just saying. But good luck on that though. Thank you. I'll talk to him on the ticket. Get the tickets, papi. You got any personal goals though? Anything you want to think? Yeah, as the team goes, individuals go as well. So you know, everybody has to stay focused and be on the same page and win that championship, and individual accolades come after that. Thank you so much for coming. [Applause]
