So, you turn 55 and suddenly you qualify for hundreds of discounts. But the problem, nobody tells you that they exist. Well, today we're counting down 12 places that offer senior discounts. And these are everything from restaurants to travel. Number three, it covers car repairs, and not just the parts, but the labor as well. And stick around for number one because it can save you more money than most of the discounts on this list combined. So, let's get started.

Number 12, Publix. Every Wednesday, if you're 60 or older, you get 5% off your entire purchase at Publix. It sounds simple, but here's what most people don't know. You have to ask for it every single time. The cashier won't offer, and it's not automatic. You just walk up, you request it, and you save. And here's a bonus. Publix runs buy 1 get one free deals all the time. So stack on your Wednesday the 5% off on top of those. Then you're double dipping and cutting your grocery bill significantly.

Number 11, Burger King. If you are 55 or older, you can get 10% off your entire order. But here's the thing, most locations, they don't advertise it. You'll have to ask for it. And because of that, a lot of people who qualify are standing right there in line paying full price. So, next time you're there, just ask. That 10% off at every visit adds up faster than people think.

Number 10, Harris Teeter. Every Thursday, if you're age 60 and up, you get 5% off. You will need their VIC card, but it's totally free. What they don't advertise, that 5% off still counts towards their fuel point program. So, you're saving on groceries and getting gas discounts at the same time. Now, it's Thursday only, so ask at the checkout.

Number nine, Dunkin. Dunkin Donuts gives you a choice. 10% off your entire order or a free donut with any drink purchase. So, which one should you take? Well, that depends on what you're buying. A single coffee and a donut. Just take the free donut. You'll save more. Ordering for the family on a $20 to $25 order, definitely take the 10% off. Most people don't think about it. They just pick one and go. So, do the math first. And since this is a franchise, it is dependent on location, but I find that most places honor it. So, just ask or call ahead.

Number eight, Hy-Vee. The discount at Hy-Vee ranges. Some stores give 5%, others go up to 10%. It's dependent on location and what you're buying. So, call your local Hy-Vee and ask what their rate is. And here's what matters. The age starts at 55. That's 5 years earlier than a lot of other grocery store discounts. Stack it with their weekly sale prices and you'll be saving some serious cash.

Number seven, Walgreens. All right, this is where it gets serious. First Tuesday of every month, Walgreens gives 20% off regular-priced items if you're 55 or older. That's vitamins, pain relief, first aid, personal care, basically everything you're already buying there. Now, there are some exclusions, but it's the typical things like gift cards and alcohol. And here's the part that most people miss. There's an online code SAVE20SENIOR that gives you 20% off as well. They say it's for select days, but people are saying that it works year-round. You can use this code at walgreens.com. Most people have no idea it exists.

Number six, AMC Theaters. AMC offers discounted tickets for seniors starting at age 60. Exactly how much you save depends on the location and the showtime. Sometimes it's just $1 to $4, which doesn't sound like much, but as my mama always said, pennies make dollars. And if you go to the movies even once or twice a month, those little discounts start adding up. Just select the senior ticket when you buy or ask at the box office. It works every day.

Number five, Choice Hotels. Choice Hotels has 7,000 properties. Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Clarion Inn, Sleep Inn, 60 and older, saves up to 10%. Now, blackout days do exist for holidays and peak season, but here's why this one is valuable. The Choice Privileges Reward program stacks with the senior discount. So, you're saving 10% on the room rate and earning points towards free nights. Book direct and mention the senior rate when you call.

Number four, Safeway and Albertsons. If you're 62 or older, you can get 10% off your entire purchase. They run it on the first Wednesday of every month, 10% on everything. Let's say you spend $600 to $800 a month on groceries. The first Wednesday you load up, a $300 cart gets you $30 back. That's $360 a year from one shopping day per month. And here's the tip. The first Wednesday is also when they drop new monthly promotions. You stack that 10% senior discount on already reduced sale prices. Add coupons on top of that and one trip, you can easily save $80 to $100.

Number three, Pep Boys. This is where real money starts showing up. Pep Boys gives 10% off parts and labor if you're 55 or older. Brake jobs can run anywhere from $400 to $600. 10% off of that is $40 to $60. And it stacks on maintenance packages, too. Oil changes, tire rotation, seasonal services. 10% off the total. You just have to ask at the service counter. And sadly, most people don't, and they're missing out.

Number two, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Now, this isn't a discount. This is free money. If you're 60 or older and meet low-income guidelines, you qualify for vouchers, $20 to $50 per year, depending on your state, to spend at farmers markets, roadside stands, and CSA programs. That's free produce, no cost to you. Now, $50, it doesn't sound like much until you realize that's $50 you're not spending out of pocket. And here's what most people miss. The vouchers often unlock other state and local programs. Some states pair it with SNAP. Others add senior food boxes or home delivery. Most eligible seniors never apply because they don't know this exists. So, Google SFMNP plus your state's name. Application process varies. Most open enrollment is in spring, so apply now.

All right, before we get to number one, I want to say something really quick. A lot of you helped build this list. After my last senior discount video, the comments were full of great deals that I had never heard of. And one that came up a lot was Kroger. And I didn't give Kroger a number on this list because it varies quite a bit by location, but it's definitely worth asking the next time you're there. Also, if you know of a great senior discount that wasn't on this list, drop it in the comments. I read every single one. And who knows, maybe I'll get enough good ones to make another video. Oh, and if you want more videos like this that help you save money, hit subscribe.

All right, last but not least, number one, cruise lines. Major cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess, they offer senior rates starting at age 55. And it's not just a discount. It's an entirely different pricing structure. Some lines give 10 to 15% off. Others throw in onboard credits, room upgrades, or free specialty dining. So, let's run the numbers. A 7-day Caribbean cruise for two standard rate is $2,400. The senior discount drops it to $2,040. That's $360 saved. But that's just the base fare. Senior rates often include $100 to $200 onboard credits, drink packages, excursions, specialty restaurants. You're using that money for things you were already going to buy anyway.

Now, here's something that most people don't know. In spring and fall, cruise lines move their ships from one part of the world to another. Think Alaska in summer, Caribbean in winter. When they move the ships, they sell those trips cheap because they're already going anyway. These are longer cruises, like 2 weeks, sometimes more, and they're already discounted because of the off-season. If you stack the senior rate on top of that, the price drops even more. A 14-day Panama Canal cruise that normally runs $3,800 per person can drop below $2,000. That's nearly $4,000 saved for two people. And if you're retired, you're not stuck booking in the summer when families are off school. You can book anytime. Spring, fall, even winter, prices are way lower because demand is lower. Apply the senior rate and you're paying half of what other people are paying. Age 55 minimum for most lines. Some lines require 60. Book direct with the cruise line or use a travel agent who specializes in senior travel.

All right, folks. So, there you have it. 12 senior discounts that most didn't know about. I look forward to reading your comments and I'll see you in the next.
