The state legislature has been busy with policy committee hearings for the 1,800 plus bills that were introduced in 2026. In fact, Court President Lee was in Sacramento for one of those busy hearing days and was able to uh register the county support on one of the bills.

Last Friday was the deadline for policy committees to hear bills with a state fiscal impact. And this Friday, the deadline is for policy committees to hear bills with no state fiscal impact. It's important to note that the committee is looking at bills from a state fiscal impact only. They don't really consider cost to local government. So, just want to make that clear to everyone in the public.

Related to budget, the next ma major milestone, as David mentioned, is the May revision that will be due on May 14th. We're unclear when the governor will actually announce that, but that is the deadline. The last two weeks of May will be very busy, not only with the response to the May revision, but also on the floor of the Senate and Assembly, uh, where legislators will be working hard to get their bills out off the floor before the House of Origin deadline on May 29th.
