The moment you were born again, God made a deposit into your spirit that has never been touched. Not because it was unavailable, not because it was withheld, not because God changed his mind about giving it to you, because nobody told you it was there.
You have been living your entire Christian life with a full account that you have been treating as empty, crying out for deposits that were made the moment you received eternal life, reaching outward for resources that have been resident in your inner man since the day the Holy Spirit took up permanent residence in you. The account is full. It has always been full. And the life you have been waiting for God to give you is the life that is already inside you waiting to be withdrawn.
This is the most consistently overlooked reality in the entire Christian experience. And it produces the most consistently unnecessary suffering. Not suffering that comes from outside, from the enemy's attacks, from natural adversity, from the genuine challenges of living in a fallen world. Suffering that comes from ignorance, from living beneath a deposit that was made in full at new birth and has never been accessed. Because the believer did not know it existed, did not know how to access it, and was never taught that the Christian life is not about acquiring what you do not have, but about withdrawing what has already been given.
Second Peter 1:3 is the verse that settles this question permanently and completely and it is one of the most extraordinary statements in the entire New Testament. Peter says, "his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence." All things, past tense, already given through his divine power. Not through your spiritual achievement, not through your accumulated devotion, not through the progressive earning of divine favor, through consistent performance, given. The full inventory of everything that pertains to life and godliness has already been credited to you. It is already in the account. The deposit was made at new birth and it has been sitting there untouched in proportion to your ignorance of its existence and your unfamiliarity with how to make a withdrawal.
Think about what that phrase means. All things that pertain to life and godliness. Not some things. Not the things appropriate to your current level of spiritual development. All things. Everything required for the fullest possible expression of divine life in your human experience. Every dimension of healing, every resource of provision, every measure of wisdom, every piece of spiritual authority, every quality of the divine nature already deposited, already yours, already in the account, not waiting for you to earn it, not waiting for you to achieve sufficient spiritual maturity, not waiting for some future moment when God decides you are ready to receive it, already given. Already there waiting to be withdrawn.
Ephesians 1:3 says the same thing from a different angle. "He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ." Has blessed, past tense, completed action, already done. Every spiritual blessing, no exceptions, no exclusions, nothing omitted from the inventory in heavenly places in Christ. Meaning the blessings exist in the spiritual realm right now as a completed reality credited to your account in Christ, accessible from the position you occupy in him. The bank is full, the account is open, the funds are available. The question that has determined the quality of your entire Christian life is not whether God has deposited, but whether you know how to make a withdrawal.
If you are beginning to see that the Christian life is not a journey toward receiving what God might give, but a journey of discovering and withdrawing what he has already given. Now, let me show you exactly what was deposited because the deposit is so comprehensive and so specific that when you see the full inventory, you will understand why Kenyan called the failure to know it the sin of ignorance. This is not a general awareness that God is good and his resources are available. This is a precise accounting of specific deposits made at specific moments in the redemptive work of Christ that are now credited to your specific account as a specific new creation. And every item in that inventory has a corresponding withdrawal mechanism that the word describes with equal precision.
The first deposit is the life of God himself. Not access to God's life, not influence from God's life. The life itself, the Zoe life, the God kind of life, the life that is by nature eternal and incorruptible and not subject to the limitations that govern natural human existence. John 5:11 and 12 says, "God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. And whoever has the Son has the life." You have the Son, therefore you have the life. This life was deposited in your spirit at new birth and it has been there ever since, operating in the deepest part of you, sustaining your spiritual existence, carrying in it the same nature and the same capacity as the life of the one from whom it came. And most Christians treat this deposit as a theological fact about their eternal destiny rather than a present reality that has immediate implications for the quality of their daily experience.
What does the life of God deposited in your spirit mean for your body? Romans 8:11 answers that directly. "The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. And he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal body through his Spirit who dwells in you." Give life to your mortal body. Your current natural, in this world, physical body through the Spirit who dwells in you. The resurrection life that overcame death is available to your mortal body right now through the Spirit who carries it. This is not a future resurrection promise. This is a present tense provision for the physical body of the living believer. The deposit of divine life in your spirit is designed to overflow into your physical body, bringing health, bringing strength, bringing the vitality that is the natural consequence of having resurrection life operating in you. And when you understand that this deposit exists and you know how to make the withdrawal through the spoken word, through the conscious activation of what the Spirit carries, through the deliberate declaration that resurrection life is flowing through your mortal body right now, you are accessing a health resource that no natural medicine can match and no natural disease has authority over.
Think about what it means to wake up in the morning with a symptom and to know that the deposit of resurrection life in your spirit is available to your physical body, not as a desperate hope that God might heal you, but as a withdrawal from an account you know is full. "The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me and He gives life to my mortal body right now. I withdraw resurrection life into every system of my body." Health is the natural state of a body through which divine life is flowing, and I declare that divine life flowing through me. Now, that is not positive thinking. That is a believing one making a specific withdrawal from a specific deposit that was made at new birth and has been available ever since.
The second deposit is the nature of God. Second Peter chapter 1, verse 4 says, "You have been made a partaker of the divine nature." Not an observer of it, not a recipient of its occasional influence. A partaker, someone who shares in it, who has it as their own, who carries it in their inner man, as their actual spiritual nature. The divine nature includes the love of God. 1 John chapter 4, verse 8 says, "God is love," and the nature you have been made a partaker of is the love nature. It includes the faith of God. Galatians 2:20 says, "The life you now live in the flesh, you live by the faith of the Son of God." And that faith is a deposit in your spirit that operates through the same nature it operated through in Jesus. It includes the peace of God. Philippians 4:7 says, "The peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." And that peace is not an emotional state you achieve through sufficient spiritual discipline, but a deposit in your spirit that is withdrawn through the spoken word and the deliberate turning of the inner man toward the one who is peace.
Think about what this means for the area of love. Specifically, the capacity to love the unlovable, to forgive the unforgivable, to respond with grace in the moments when your natural emotional response is anything but gracious. Most Christians approach those situations with a gritted teeth determination to behave better than they feel, which is admirable but exhausting and ultimately unsustainable. The believer who understands the deposit of divine nature in their spirit approaches the same situation differently. They are not trying to generate love they do not have. They are withdrawing love that has already been deposited. "The love of God has been poured into my heart by the Holy Spirit who was given to me," as Romans chapter 5, verse 5 says. I draw on that love. Now I respond from the deposit of divine nature in my spirit rather than from the emotional reaction of my natural man. The love is already there. The withdrawal mechanism is the word spoken in faith, and the result is not manufactured behavioral compliance but genuine supernatural response that flows from the inside out.
Right now, type this in the comments: The divine nature has been deposited in my spirit. I withdraw from that deposit now. Love, faith, peace, wisdom, everything that pertains to life and godliness is already mine.
The third deposit is the wisdom of God. And this is the one that has the most immediate practical application to the ordinary decisions of your daily life. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says, "Christ Jesus has been made to you wisdom from God." Made to you, and that's not given you access to wisdom you have to petition for separately through extended prayer and fasting. Made to you wisdom, meaning his wisdom is your wisdom, already deposited, already available, already resident in your inner man through the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of wisdom, as Isaiah 11:2 describes him. Every decision you face, every choice that is too complex for natural reasoning to navigate with confidence, every situation where the variables are too many and the stakes too high for the analytical mind to process without error, has a corresponding wisdom deposit in your spirit that is available right now, waiting to be withdrawn.
James chapter 1, verse 5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given him." The asking is not a prolonged petition toward a distant God who may or may not choose to release the wisdom you need. It is the turning of the inner man toward the deposit that is already there, toward the Holy Spirit who carries the wisdom of God and who lives in your spirit, and receiving what is already present. "Holy Spirit, I need wisdom about this situation. You know every dimension of it that I cannot see. You carry the wisdom of God and you live in me. I receive your wisdom now, not as information, but as a knowing in my spirit that governs this decision." And then you wait, not for hours, not with the anxious desperation of someone who is not sure the wisdom will come, but with the settled expectation of someone who knows the deposit is there and knows the one who made it is faithful. Because the wisdom surfaces in the spirit, not as a loud voice or a dramatic revelation, but as a settled knowing, a clear direction, a peace about one option and an unease about another. And the believer who has learned to attend to the Spirit's communication rather than waiting for a rational explanation to accompany it receives wisdom that consistently exceeds what natural intelligence could have produced.
Let me show you the fourth deposit because this one is the one that most directly addresses the sense of powerlessness that keeps most Christians living beneath their redemption. The fourth deposit is the authority of the name of Jesus. Philippians chapter 2, verses 9 and 10 says, "God has given Jesus the name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow." Beings in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, every knee, no exceptions, every created being in every realm is subject to that name. And Jesus seven times in the Gospel of John gave you the legal right to use it. Seven times he gave you power of attorney, the legal right to act in his name with the same authority as if he himself were present and speaking. And that power of attorney is a deposit. It was made at new birth when you came into the covenant that the finished work of Christ established. It is sitting in your account right now. And every time you face the enemy, every time you face sickness, every time you face a circumstance that the word says must bow to the name, you have the right to make a withdrawal.
Think about what it means to face the enemy's attack with the conscious awareness that you are carrying a deposited authority that he cannot override. Most Christians face spiritual attack from the posture of the victim, hoping God will intervene, praying that the attack will stop, enduring the pressure with the resigned patience of someone who has no recourse. The believer who knows the deposit is different. They are not hoping God will deal with the enemy. They are dealing with the enemy from the authority that has already been deposited in their name through the name. "I resist you in the name of Jesus. That name is above your name. Every knee bows to it, and you have no authority in this area of my life. I enforce the finished work of Christ over this situation." Now, that is a withdrawal from the deposit of authority that has been sitting in your account since the day you were born again. And the enemy has no answer for it because the name that backs it is above every name he possesses.
The fifth deposit, and the one I want to spend the most time on, because it is the one most consistently left untouched, is the indwelling Holy Spirit himself. Not his gifts, not his occasional visitation. Him, the full person of the Holy Spirit with the full measure of his wisdom, his power, his guidance, his intercession, his illumination of the word, his witness with your spirit. All of it deposited in you permanently, irrevocably, as a resident, not a guest, as a permanent endowment, not a periodic blessing. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, "Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God." You have him from God as a gift that was given and not recalled, as a deposit that was made and not withdrawn, as a presence that took up permanent residence in you and committed to never leave.
Most Christians relate to the Holy Spirit as a resource they access occasionally when they need something dramatic, when they need healing, when they need supernatural intervention, when they need a miracle that is beyond natural means. They treat him as a specialist called in for emergencies rather than as the permanent indwelling companion who is available for every dimension of every moment of every day. And because they treat him as an occasional resource rather than a permanent deposit, they live most of their Christian life without drawing on what is the most extraordinary resource available to any human being in the history of the world. The same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation, who filled the prophets, who descended on Jesus at his baptism, who raised him from the dead. That Spirit in his fullness is permanently deposited in you. And the withdrawal mechanism is not a special prayer or a specific ritual or a particular emotional state. It is the simple, consistent, practical acknowledgment of his presence and the deliberate turning of your inner man toward him in every situation of your daily life.
Practically, this means beginning every day not with a request for the Holy Spirit to show up, but with an acknowledgment that he is already there. "Holy Spirit, you are here. You are in me. You are the wisdom of God, the power of God, the mind of God, and you are committed to working in and through me today. I acknowledge your presence in every conversation, every decision, every challenge. I draw on everything you have deposited in me. Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world, and He is in me right now." That acknowledgment is a withdrawal. It is the inner man turning toward the deposit and drawing from it. And the result is a quality of daily living that the believer who does not make that withdrawal cannot access because the resource is the same for both. But only one of them knows it is there, and only one of them is drawing from it.
Here is the full picture I want you to carry out of this teaching. At new birth, God made five specific deposits into your spirit that have been sitting in your account ever since:
1. The life of God, resurrection life that is available to your mortal body right now.
2. The nature of God, love, faith, peace, every quality of the divine nature made available to you as a partaker of it.
3. The wisdom of God, already made to you in Christ, available through the Holy Spirit in every decision of your daily life.
4. The authority of the name, power of attorney over the most powerful name in every realm, deposited in your account and available for every situation that must bow to it.
5. And the Holy Spirit himself, the full person of the third member of the Trinity, permanently resident in you, committed to working in and through you, carrying in him the fullness of everything God is and everything God has.
None of these deposits has been withdrawn. None of them has diminished through time or through your spiritual failures or through the seasons when you were not walking closely with God. They are incorruptible deposits made by an unchanging God who does not take back what he has given. The account is as full today as it was the day you were born again. And every day you live without making withdrawals from it is a day lived beneath the level of what the finished work of Christ purchased for you.
Stop reaching outward for what God has already placed inward. Stop crying out for deposits that have already been made. Stop treating the Christian life as a journey toward receiving what God might give and start treating it as the lifelong discovery and withdrawal of what he has already given. The account is full. The resources are there. The deposits were made in full at new birth and they have been waiting for you ever since. Make the withdrawal. Live like it.
