Congratulations. You're in a small percentage of women who have taken the time to wonder how you could do things better. Virtually, no men have ever asked this question, which is why I'm answering it for you today. Stick around to learn the most powerful thing you can do to make them want to commit forever. I'm Evan Marc Katz, dating coach for smart, strong, successful women and your personal trainer for love. Welcome to the Love U podcast. Keep listening to discover how to be an amazing girlfriend that no man ever wants to leave.
When we're done, I’ll let you know how you could apply to Love U to create a passionate relationship that makes you feel safe, heard and understood. Sally is a Love U graduate. She came to me at age 30 with very little dating and relationship experience. But by the time she graduated my course in six months, Sally had her first serious relationship ever. Wonderful client that she is. Sally continued her coaching after six months to get support from me and the wonderful Love U community because she really wants to make sure she doesn't screw this one up.
Yet almost every week, Sally has some version of the same question, and the questions all stem from a place of fear or insecurity or anxiety that stem from her lack of experience and almost every week. My answer to her is the same. Relax, you're doing great. Your boyfriend's wonderful. You're overthinking and making a big deal over nothing. But there was one question that Sally asked in the past week that made me take pause. If the same question you asked, if you're watching this video right now, how can I be a better girlfriend?
I have three full months of material in Love U that answer that question. The second half of the Love U course, understanding men, relationships and commitment are all about now that you picked a good guy. How do you make a relationship work? That's a short way of saying that there's a very long answer to this question. There are many ways in which one can be a better girlfriend, the same way that there are many ways in which one can become a better boyfriend.
Instead of asking a dating coach how you can become a better girlfriend, which is not a bad impulse, by the way. You know who you should ask? Your boyfriend. Before you react to that, I want to flip things around. You're dating this sweet guy. You're really happy with him. He's not perfect. But this is easily the best, healthiest relationship you've had in a long time. He likes you. He wants to please you. He makes his interest clear. One day out of the blue, he says, “Hey, I was just wondering, is there anything I can do better to make you happy?”
Your mind starts to race. He cares. He takes responsibility. He wants to do better. And now, he's given me permission to offer constructive feedback, that he's open to receiving about how he could be a better boyfriend. This amazing guy is asking me how we can do better. And now you have permission to tell them that you'd like it if he called you some time instead of just texting. You can tell him you'd be thrilled if he made plans in advance, so you weren't sitting around waiting for the weekend. You could tell him it would turn you on more if he was more aggressive in the bedroom. Imagine the power of speaking your mind with no judgment, no fear, all because this one special guy really wanted to be the best boyfriend ever.
Is there any reason you can't ask him the same question? What can I do to become a better girlfriend, and then just listen to his answer with an open mind? This kind of direct communication is extremely rare in relationships, but that's what makes it extremely powerful. I am constantly asking my wife what I can do better because I'm not afraid of the answer. Whatever she tells me is the ticket to us having a happy, successful marriage. You can do the same thing starting immediately. I've got three months of ideas on how you could be a better girlfriend in Love U. But the one person who knows what, the one person who knows best what you should do is the person that you call a boyfriend. Once you ask him instead.
