Lucas, welcome to our DFINITY headquarters in Zurich. Thank you very much for the many exchanges we had this week. We would like to take this opportunity to learn more about your Dmail journey. Learn more about the Dmail product. We now have many users who are also very interested. So, could you please just share with us, how did you get into the Web3 industry? How did your Dmail team get started?

Thank you very much, Herbert, for the invitation. It was a very pleasant trip for us to visit DFINITY this time. And at the same time, for our Dmail team, we also learned a lot during this journey. The development of DFINITY, including the distance and so on.

About me, actually, I worked for one of the largest mobile phone companies in Asia for several years. Then, as I got to know more about the Web3 industry, then we came up with the idea of DMail. Since then, we have gradually joined this industry. There is also a journey of the heart. I have a little understanding of the development of the entire industry. Then we had the idea of starting our own business. At the same time, we also passed the, understand little by little, which public chain is more suitable for us to develop a product based on our idea of Dmail?

Yes, at that time, I remember that in May 2021, the Internet Computer ICP mainnet was just launched, right? It was probably from that time that we began to conduct in-depth research. Then we officially started, probably around June or July 2021. Then, in the same year, we participated in DFINITY’s first and largest hackathon. Is this the same one as Wanxiang? In Shanghai, China. We were honored to receive the support of the foundation. Then we became the champions of the first hackathon.

I remember that night you guys were surrounded by Red Bull. Then the hackathon lasted for three consecutive nights. That seemed to be the first time we met. Yes, that was the first time I saw him in Shanghai. Then you have a very wonderful speech. Then we went through three days of development. Then I remember the final presentation was done online. It seemed like it was during the epidemic, right? During COVID. So later on, we changed from offline to online, right? Because we came to Shanghai on purpose. Then, because of some minor accidents that day, then the building was sealed off. The building was sealed, right? Then we completed the entire demonstration online later. Of course, we are honored to receive that. It means that we generally agree with the whole idea we had at that time. Then you are more interested in our products. Then we had a simple demo. A super dAPP that has grown to nearly 50 million users today. Wow, now we have 50 million users. Right.

So, speaking of this, Lucas, with us, so now it is the end of 2021 and it has been more than three years. What is the current development status of Dmail? Can you share it with us? In fact, relatively speaking, we think we are doing well at the moment. Throughout the industry, our data is quite high. I just took a look. That is, we always maintain the daily DAU. This is the daily activity, right? Daily active users remain at around 300,000. About 300,000, right? Currently, it is only on DFINITY. Almost 200,000 users use our products every day. Right. Then you should be, except DFINITY, in addition to the public chain of Internet Computer, there should be users from other ecosystems, right?

That's right. Starting from 2022, we began to seek a multi-chain route. And until today, we have already received login requests from users of 37 public chains. Including the entire email sending and receiving. But all our basic technologies and support, all done through ICP. From this container-type smart contract, canister, right? The entire container-type smart contract. Then we also have our own original. Then we put the whole thing as email, divided into two parts. One part is the email body and the other part.

So when it comes to this, if so, we can briefly introduce. That is to say, for users, if they heard Dmail for the first time, so what do Dmail do? How can their users use Dmail? Maybe he can do something whether he is on Gmail, there are still some things that Hotmail can't do. That's it. Our product. So at the beginning, it's definitely based on everyone's perception of us. It’s all an email system of web3. Sending and receiving emails through web3 technology, right? But as we continue to grow, then including our functional development and iteration, we now have many different business systems. Then we also include all of our, the business system content has been optimized. We now have several major sections. For example, we want our own NFT. Then there is our give-away feature. After the user joins, users can give away, get some of the benefits they want. Including some points with other projects. A form that includes some tokens. Like this points system, users can use Dmail's system to complete various points in many ecosystems, right? Then we now support a login for web2 users. Not necessarily web3 users. It can also be directly used through web2 products. Log in. For example, Google Login. Including through the EVM system, we also received a lot of wallets. The entire login system. Then we also have a more eye-catching feature. As long as you join dmail, then you can internally rank dmail's products. Then your traditional mailbox, including Telegram, can push a. There is also browser push. Telegram is also available, right? Telegram. Because this forwarding between emails, this is already very mature in Web2. Telegram, you can use Telegram. For example, I send you a message. Inside Telegram, it can be done through the last Dmail. Then go to this account. Yes, yes, yes. Directly through dmail can be no. You understand a little bit wrong. It's like if I received an email. Then you can receive this email via Telegram, right? Then there is also a browser reminder. This is a lot of users. It may not be necessary to be on dmail anytime and anywhere. But the browser on Telegram reminds. Including its traditional mailbox can be received at the same time. The browser reminds you that you are referring to. If it uses a tool like Metamask, such a wallet will have a reminder inside. Still no. In turn, the browser can directly prompt. It's you, right? For example, your Chrome and Safari. You can receive push notifications directly there. Right, right, right.

Because we have grown so big, I think it has something to do with the characteristics of our team. We are keeping abreast of market trends. Then we can find out what can be added to our products. Then seek user demands. What's more, right? In this process, if these functions, it really sounds like many of these traditional email services are web2. It can't be done. Then the words in this. What do you think of ICP's technology? How did you find the ICP technology? Then how can this technology help you realize these functions?

From the very beginning, in fact, we still have some. At that time, I was thinking about finding the most popular. Then the one with the most development potential. We had several targets at that time. Then according to these targets, we are optimistic about ICP technology. Because we. I'm curious about what you did besides ICP. What other targets have you seen since then? I don't know if you knew it at the time. There was a, there is a special saying called the four kings of public chains that have not issued coins, certainly, right? Four Heavenly Kings. We won’t talk about the other three, right? But we were, according to this target, then I conducted a study on the whole. Then I discovered ICP technology. In fact, it is more suitable for our products, right? At that time, the words of the Four Heavenly Kings, the four with the highest voices, relatively new public chain. Then they all have a more comprehensive technology stack. How so? Yes. So later you. Thank you for choosing ICP, right?

Actually, to be honest, the reason why we chose ICP at that time, one of the most important points is, because of the email, everyone is very proficient in using it. Basically, everyone has multiple email addresses. But if you send emails, it is a chargeable behavior. I think many users don’t accept it. From the very beginning, right? So ICP's reverse gas system, it is particularly beneficial for us. Reverse Gas may be a lot. Many listeners may not understand what is going on. Because this is related to the entire Ethereum system. It's the exact opposite. This can be explained a little bit, right? Because I'm not born with technology, let me tell you about it. That is, our reverse Gas, the total gas fee, it is not the responsibility of all users, but the owner of the project. They pay the gas fee. Pay the entire gas fee in cycles. Cycles is the ICP to consume the smart contract. A unit of measurement for this computing resource, right? Cycles to pay. Then the whole form of payment, users are indifferent. The entire transaction is for users, without any perception. Then we complete the whole process. And the cost of cycles is very low. For us, this is affordable, right? So this is why we chose DFINITY in the first place.

Then another very important point, it is a storage of canister. In the beginning, we have customized a canister for each user. Then give it the responsibility of the entire decentralized storage. So each of you had your own canister. This will better help them realize their digital sovereignty. Yes. Better privacy, etc. Right, right. Of course, with the subsequent development of ICP, DFINITY, then new technologies emerge. Including with the surge in our users, we really can't afford one canister per user. Then we started using sharding technology. Several users. Then even more users in one canister. But we can ensure the user's entire assets, information security, including the security of the entire user when sending and receiving emails, right? But that's what I said. In fact, your current technical architecture, it is more efficient to utilize the resources of our network, yes. On the one hand, you can still give each user. That is to say, his data belongs only to him. In addition, as you said, in fact, it is a clever use of ICP fragmentation technology, yes. This is because I think this is what a public chain is. We want to talk about how to achieve mass adoption of Web3, to achieve horizontal expansion. So now you can actually allow many users to share a canister. If it's not enough, you can start a new canister. In fact, this is the horizontal expansion. This performance is a good reflection of, right? Because we chose this. Because at the beginning we found a problem. Many users may not need such a large storage capacity. But if you only give this much to one person, he might waste a lot of storage space. So in the following, we'll choose this. It is the sharding technology. It also saves some resources. Then at the same time, we can better serve our users. But this is also a process of development. As our joint development with DFINITY progresses, then you can reach this level, right?

After nearly three years of this process, I mean, can Lucas share it? Between you and us, the DFINITY Foundation, what kind of relationship is it? Did you encounter any difficulties during this process? How did you solve it later? Right. I think you may know this question best. Our understanding of the DFINITY Foundation began with you, right? These three, I think it's been about four years. Almost four years, right? It's been four years. We do get a lot of help from the DFINITY Foundation. Then include this developer grant. Then, as well as the promotion at the market level. At the same time, I think Dmail is one of DFINITY’s most important partners in Asia. We are also doing our best to promote DFINITY's overall influence in Asia. Including in the English market, right? Because you know we have a huge number of users throughout Asia, including Europe and the United States, right? I think this is remarkable. Because this week we actually talked specifically about the difficulties and challenges of doing web3 in Asia. Right. Many Asian projects are difficult to break out of Asia. But the Dmail team said, in fact, it helped us to take this route very early on. I think this will not only help ICP but also help the entire industry to find a way forward. Few other projects can go this route. It is truly international. We can really bring in other users, regardless of whether they speak Chinese, English, Japanese or Korean. I think this is still remarkable. How did you do this?

Thank you for your compliment. First of all, for us, in fact, the most important points may be: The first is what the user wants, we give users what they want. The second is that we will catch the market's heat in real time. What do we think are the hot spots in the market? We always pay attention to the hot spots of the market. The third possibility is the team's efficient execution. No matter what happens, you may find that you cannot complete it immediately. You still can't get the results you want. Then the fourth point is that we think we can find people who need us. Just like we will keep in good communication with you for a long time. Then we will continue to raise our demands with the DFINITY Foundation. Of course, we also need to mention that the DFINITY Foundation has been of great help to us. Whether it is market level or various support. For this week, of course, this also comes back to our studio today. This week we are doing something called Chain Fusion Labs. This week is already the fifth day.

How does Lucas feel about this event? This is probably the first time you've come to our DFINITY Foundation's headquarters in the Soviet Union. Yes. We've been invited before. Because it is one of the larger projects in the ecosystem. This may be the biggest, almost the biggest project. From the perspective of this user base, yes. Because we received it before. But maybe it’s because of me and my team that I have never been here before. This time it went pretty smoothly for us. All the processes from applying for visas to buying air tickets were very smooth. Then I met many old friends at the foundation this time. For example, if you include Lomesh, yes, and some people who continue to support us. We used to communicate online. We might be able to sit together better offline. This is quite a rare trip. Yes, that's right. Because I don't come from a technical background, maybe I can't talk too much about technology. But no matter whether it is an economic token model, then some of the future support, and a future roadmap for DFINITY, we have a better understanding and familiarity. I think for our future as a developer, as an ecological project party, then we can have more opportunities. Know how to integrate with ICP. So that the subsequent words, how can we help ICP? Then how to better expanding the market? This is very important to us and valuable experience. I hope this schedule in the next few days, it won't make you feel too tired. Because I think it's from 9 am to 5 pm. There is no such thing in the middle. Almost all of this is knowledge output, sharing of knowledge. I also learned a lot. I hope you think this is still, or can we discuss the next steps for the Dmail team? Can help a lot.

So, speaking of this, next step, Dmail will be available in the next six months or a year. What big moves will there be? Our old user, new users can expect. Yes, that's right. Thank you very much for this question. We have an important plan for the future. Maybe we will expand our community. Then more markets. Because we certainly can't rest on our laurels. Lie down. Then there is another very important point. We are also thinking, how to better integrate with DFINITY? This is also why we came to Chain Fusion. A main purpose of. Welcome back to my mother's home. We should talk more closely in the future. Yes. Because we always have a goal. I want to share our latest feature. Just by email, can send emails and assets at the same time. But this step is relatively difficult to achieve. But I found that with the support of chain fusion, we might be able to achieve this easily. By sending an email, this asset can be transferred directly. Right, right. Then we have our own new plans. Maybe our next product, we can talk about. We can go again. We have another session coming and going. Introducing the next product, right? Then, based on DFINITY's the roadmap we learned about, let's see how we can better combine. Then because we are the project party of the ecosystem, we certainly cannot escape from the ecology. Develop on your own. Yes, yes, yes.

This time, Lucas, accept the invitation to come to Zurich, Switzerland. I also feel very relieved. Because you are helping us expand our territory. With many ecosystems, more than 30 different Layer 1 blockchain ecosystem integration. Included in this DappRadar, you are also the first to represent our ICP ecosystem on this project. Including the exchange, you are all in our industry. The leading team in our ecosystem. So in the future, we do a lot of things. Whether it is from the technology or this go to market. In fact, I also hope that this Dmail can you give us some more suggestions? In this case, it is your success. This is the success of our Internet computer. I understand. Yes, because from our perspective, including DappRadar and exchanges, many communications in the market. Because we think that the ecology, in the early days, we are the pioneers of ecology. We are willing to make some contributions to the ecology. Including going to put a lot of things first. Do something beneficial for those who come after you. This is good for everyone. Then at the same time, the reason we are willing to do these things, we are also firmly optimistic about the future of DFINITY. Because we have this technology for Internet computers, we are very recognized. Including these years, it didn't disappoint us. It continues to iterate. We have been building, right? Our roadmap, although it seems to be getting more and more complicated, but in the end, we can still make them land. So I think this is also very difficult for a foundation like ours, yes. Then, including our nearly four years of development, we also saw a lot of developers coming and going. But as the Dmail team, we have always been firmly, it can be said that he is a believer in ICP. Very strong. On top of the building, including our future, there are also new projects to continue to develop, right? Because we have also seen in the past few years, you and your entire team are committed to this product. Including this for you, a persistence in this career. So this is what we want. Why are you willing to believe? I have been doing it. The reason for doing things all the time.

Many thanks to Lucas and the Dmail team about our DFINITY Foundation, this confidence in our Internet computers and ICP. I hope we can work more closely together in the future. This, this, work together to help you. Then what about, I hope this will not let our vast users, old users, new users, for us, such a disruptive innovative technology, don't be disappointed. Because we have been working hard, keep moving forward. And I have been hoping to hear, like Lucas, you guys got feedback from the community. Thank you very much for joining us today, Lucas. This studio, share your journey with us. Thank you so much. Thank you very much for this opportunity to share this. At the same time, this trip to Switzerland is very meaningful to me. The harvest is very great. Good. Thank you very much, Lucas. Thanks. Thanks.
