Just days after ICE agents shot and killed an unarmed mom of three in her car in Minneapolis, the rogue agency has yet again killed a resident of Minneapolis and US citizen, 37-year-old ICU nurse who worked at the VA named Alex Jeffrey Prey.
According to the Star Tribune, I'm going to show footage of the shooting. A trigger warning here before I show this video. It is not suitable for work and is graphic. If you don't want to see it, please forward ahead.
"They doing too much, man. And they keep pushing people, you know. Oh What the..."
"They killed him."
"I did. THEY KILL THAT GUY. ARE YOU KIDDING ME, DUDE?"
"Not again. Are you kidding me? That guy's dead."
Roughly six ICE agents against one protester who was holding a phone. The man was posing no threat to the officers and they decided that six full-grown men and multiple gunshots was an appropriate response for a nurse filming ICE in the street.
Now, DHS immediately came out to spin a narrative for themselves, writing, "At 9:05 a.m. Central time, as DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault, an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, seen here."
"The officers attempted to disarm the suspect, but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on the scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene."
Now, per usual, that is a lie. And the reason I can say that with certainty is because we also have the video footage of the start of the interaction where you'll notice that the victim is not brandishing a firearm and instead is holding his phone, presumably to record ICE. A reminder that it is 100% legal to record law enforcement in public and that there is no expectation of privacy in the street.
"thing got buried."
"Yeah, I don't know your windows. All right, let's go around."
So, if DHS's excuse is that pretty quote approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, then in effect, they have no excuse at all. Because again, as you can plainly see, Prey did not approach the officers, but rather DHS approached him and he was not brandishing his firearm. He was holding a phone.
It's also worth noting that when the shots that killed Prey were fired, he appears to have already been disarmed of the gun that was holstered. You can see in the original footage that I showed at the top of this clip slowed down to 50% that the guy in the gray, an ICE agent, comes into the situation with his hands completely free. He's not holding anything. He then struggles in that scrum where six ICE agents are on top of the one victim. He's presumably pulling at the victim's holstered firearm. Eventually, that guy in the gray appears to have the firearm freed in his own hands, as you can see here, and he runs away with it. At the same time, multiple gunshots ring out as a different ICE agent shoots a now unarmed victim.
Trump, of course, escalated the situation with an unhinged response on True Social, writing, "This is the gunman's gun loaded with two additional full magazines and ready to go." What is that all about? Where are the local police? Why weren't they allowed to protect ICE officers? The mayor and the governor called them off. It is stated that many of the police were not allowed to do their job. That ICE had to protect themselves. Not an easy thing to do. Why does Ilhan Omar have $34 million in her account? And where are the tens of billions of dollars that have been stolen from the once great state of Minnesota?
And as you can tell by the direction that that post was going in, he veers off on an unintelligible, incoherent rant, jumping from guns to Ilhan Omar to fraud and on and on. He's just doing conservative mad libs in an effort to land on something that will adequately outrage his base and justify yet another unjustifiable shooting at the hands of this lawless rogue secret police force.
And here's another response from the administration. Steven Miller wrote, "A domestic terrorist tried to assassinate federal law enforcement, and this is your response? You and the state's entire Democrat leadership team have been flaming the flames of insurrection for the singular purpose of stopping the deportation of illegals who invaded the country."
In other words, it is already clear that this White House is wasting zero time in vilifying the victim and pre-claring the ICE agent. Same exact story as Renee Good just a few days back. They think that if you merely assert, declare that the victim is a quote domestic terrorist, then that somehow justifies absolves ICE agents acting as judge, jury, and executioner in the street.
Another response, this time from a US attorney, quote, "If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don't do it."
And here's Greg Bovino. "During this operation, an individual approached US Border Patrol agents with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The agents attempted to disarm the individual, but he violently resisted. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, a Bord agent fired defensive shots. Medics on the scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect also had two loaded magazines and no accessible ID. This looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement."
Again, the victim does not approach law enforcement. Law enforcement approaches him. And he was not brandishing a gun. He was holding a phone. Between Trump, Miller, this US attorney, Greg Boino, it is already clear what the goal of this administration is. To frame PR as some dangerous domestic terrorist who posed imminent danger to the ICE agents. When the reality is the exact opposite. The only danger comes from this rogue secret police force that seems hellbent on reigning terror across the United States and killing people with impunity.
The reality is that Donald Trump and his administration have one job, that is to keep Americans safe first and foremost. Not only are they not doing that, they are unilaterally inciting violence. Trump claims to want law and order, but his rogue secret police are decidedly lawless, incompetent, dangerous, and trigger-happy. The only thing creating this violence is expressly the fact that this rogue agency continues to create it.
And that's a point, by the way, that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry pointed out here. "I just saw a video of more than six masked agents uh pummeling one of our constituents and shooting him to death. How many more residents, how many more Americans need to die or get badly hurt for this operation to end? How many more lives need to be lost before this administration realizes that a political and partisan narrative is not as important as American values? How many times must local and national leaders must plead with you, Donald Trump, to end this operation and recognize that this is not creating safety in our city?"
So, I ask everyone in this country, regardless of who you voted for, to watch the video for yourself and do not allow this administration to rewrite history in real time. They are creating the exact type of tyrannical police state that they themselves used to condemn, that they themselves warned against for years. We cannot normalize this. We cannot justify this. And we cannot stay silent as we watch the United States turn into the police state that Trump is trying to turn it into right now.

But second, the reality is that we are now in a political environment where this administration can lean on any of the social media platforms to suppress certain voices if they don't like critical coverage. That means my longevity here is in the hands of a few tech billionaires who are already making it clear that they are willing to cater to this administration.
