So, this post has a name, and I'm going to teach you the name first so you know what I'm talking about. The name is Before, After, How. That's literally the name of this type of post. If you ever see somebody say, "Oh, go make a Before, After, How post," now you know what they're talking about. I came up with this name, by the way. So, if you see somebody else teaching this, they learned it from me, and that's totally fine. But just so you know, this is my IP.
So we're gonna break this down, and I'm gonna explain it in three different sections. The first section I'm going to explain is the Before; then I'm gonna explain the After; then I'm going to talk about the How.
Okay, the Before. Now, mind you, this post is getting posted in groups where you're not allowed to promote your business. So you can't offer freebies; you can't talk about your business really. It's let's just pretend it's a really tight promo group. So my students have seen success with this post in fitness-related groups and Mommy-related groups, in travel-related groups, in real estate-related groups—just groups that typically don't allow promo at all. They've seen success in it. So this is how you're gonna write your post.
The first part of your post is going to vividly describe the Before of whatever it is you help people do, as it relates to your own life. So I'm gonna say, in a simpler way, let's say that I'm a weight loss coach. In the Before, I'm going to talk about how I used to, you know, struggle with weight loss, how I didn't have any energy, how I didn't like what I saw in the mirror, perhaps how I felt like I was missing out on stuff with my grandkids. You're vividly painting a picture of the Before, and make it three sentences. I'll do another example. Let's say that you are a relationship and intimacy coach. You could share that before you learned what you learned, you and your husband were really struggling with intimacy; you were more like roommates; you felt very lonely in your marriage. And you paint it very vividly and very vulnerably.
So Sarah's Before, with how she was a single mom living in the United States, she had a nine-to-five commute; her daughter was in daycare; she hated it. She's like, "I was rushed and frazzled, and I worked, you know, eight-to-nine-hour days, and then I come home; I basically put my daughter to bed, and we have a little bit of time in the weekend," and she hated it. So she simplified her life, and she moved to Costa Rica, and that's what she does now. But what Sarah did in the first three sentences is she talked about her life before. So three sentences: what your life was before you solved whatever problem it is you help people do.
The second half is After. After can be three to five sentences. Using our example of Sarah: After Sarah moved to Costa Rica, she had a simpler lifestyle; her living expenses were a lot less, and she got quality time with her daughter. She could just spend all the time that she wanted with her; they did all these amazing things; they traveled all over Costa Rica, and her life was a lot more beautiful; it was a lot more simple; it was a lot more meaningful because she was no longer working a horrible nine-to-five, terrible, dusty commute all the time. She got quality time with her daughter and an easier life in general. After, with the intimacy coach, you could talk about how, you know, you and your husband are back in love the way you were when you were first married, and how, you know, you, you're very passionate with each other now, and how even your kids are like, "Oh, you guys are so gross!" Like, you can be vivid in your examples of the After, just like you should be vivid in your examples of the Before.
Then, gonna come back to the How. This is really important. You need to share this post with an eye-catching photo. This is really important. It cannot be—I will come to your house and have a problem with you if you post a camera graphic with this post—because it's not going to go anywhere. Do not post a camera graphic with this. In Sarah's example, she posted a picture of her and her daughter, and she was like holding her daughter up, like laughing, and they were silhouetted, and there were palm trees, and the sun was golden, and it was just beautiful. And so it contrasted perfectly with the Before. If you're a weight loss coach, share the After of what you look like, how you're vibrant, how you have been able to, you know, get the weight loss more manageable. If you're the intimacy coach, share a picture of you and your husband; maybe you're older, and that's—I mean, again, like, that's amazing because you have an intimate marriage after you've been married for 20 or 30 years. That's hard to do. So that's eye-catching. You got the Before; you got the After. Where does the How come in?
Here's where the How comes in. I'm going to draw a little squiggle line. The How, it comes in two different ways. Mind you, you can't pitch. So at the end of your Before or After post, you can't say something like, "DM me to learn how I did it," or "Comment below if you want to know how I did it." You can't pitch yourself in non-promo groups. So you just end with the After. But what happens is in the comments—so in the comments and in your DMs—people privately message you, and they ask you how you did it. Typically looks like this: you'll get five people, five to ten, but let's just say five on the conservative side, five to ten leads from this. It's pretty conservative. Um, Sarah got like closer to 30 from it, but we'll just do—we'll do conservative, five to ten. And typically that'll equal one or two clients. If you charge three thousand dollars, that's anywhere from three thousand to six thousand per post. You can do these as often as you want, so you really can control your income here. I've had three thousand-plus students do this, and it works really, really well.
The key—just a couple keys I want to give you, a couple things you have to do, you can't avoid. We talked about the image; share, share yourself; make it eye-catching; all that. Also, the more brave and vulnerable you are here and here, the better the post does, because it stands out because you share honestly, and that's attractive in a world where everybody's sort of closed off. You get honest, and people relate because you're being honest, and then they're like, "Oh my gosh, this is me. I have not—you know, I haven't been with my husband in four years. How did you guys restart that spark together?" Hot. Now you have—now you can have a conversation around that and close one in five. Um, some people close more than one in five, but just conservatively again. So this is something that works. All of the non-promo posts that we've ever—all the non-promo groups we've ever had any students do it, it works really well.
I recommend finding three, three to five groups that have 10K members or more, and there's at least three posts per day in the group. So three, three new posts per day in the group. So you're gonna find three to five groups like this, and if you're like overwhelmed, maybe just start with finding three, and then you're gonna post in each one once a week for a total of three posts like this per week. You do that, you're gonna get a client a week. It's—it's a no-brainer. Keys to do it consistently so you can actually build that momentum.
Now you're probably wondering, if you're like most of my students, your immediate next thought is, "Okay, what do I say to those people who comment or who DM me and say how did you do it?" I thought it might be helpful if I shared some of the exact scripts that I use when people comment on myself or DM me and how I turn those random inquiries into actual clients. I did all the work for you; I made it really easy; you can just follow the scripts and turn those random people into clients very, very easily just by following the scripts. I call it the Ultimate Make Sales in Your Inbox Kit because it's literally a kit to make sales in your like Instagram inbox or your Facebook inbox or your email inbox. Super easy to use. Right now this kit is just 24, and when you get it, you're going to get 23 other amazing business courses all for 24. So basically, think of it like each little mini course is a dollar. You're gonna get 24 for 24. I shared this in another video, but recently I had somebody message me, and she said that she made two thousand dollars from what she learned in this 24-dollar little bundle. So the value is insane; it's super helpful; I cover a lot of different things to help you grow your business and make money on social media. If you want to get a copy of those exact scripts that I use to turn those how questions into clients, you can just click the link in the description, and I'll see you in the next video.
