When our Prophet's grandfather passed away, what were his last words, and then who raised the young Muhammad? Let's find out. The chief of the Quraish, the custodian of the Kaaba's keys, the elder respected among all tribes, Hazrat Abdul Muttalib, was on his deathbed. Great chiefs sat by his bed. His white beard spread on his chest, and a light still shone in his eyes. But everyone knew that shadow was about to depart. However, a young child kept appearing before his eyes. The very one who was the peace and solace of his heart. That very child whose father had been laid to rest in the earth before his birth. And whose mother, Bibi Amina, had also departed this world two years prior on a journey to Medina. Young Muhammad, peace be upon him, who was then only 8 years old. But a strange light emanated from his forehead. Hazrat Abdul Muttalib called his grandson Muhammad, peace be upon him, to his side. He lovingly stroked his head and embraced him with great affection, and said in a soft voice, "This child is something different." Then he looked at his sons and said, "Listen to me carefully." The protection of this child is now your greatest responsibility, and I entrust this trust to my son Abu Talib. Hearing this, tears flowed from Hazrat Abu Talib's eyes. He lived a life of great hardship. He did not have much wealth, but his heart was immensely generous. He said to his father, "Father, you be at ease. I will protect this child more than my own life." A few days later, that moment arrived when the people of Mecca witnessed another great sorrow. Hazrat Abdul Muttalib passed away. The people of Quraish were in shock. But the most saddened were young Muhammad, peace be upon him. First, his mother passed away. Now, the shadow of his grandfather was also gone. Tears streamed from his eyes. But there was a strange patience in his heart. Any other child would have cried, wailed. But he was looking silently towards the sky, as if finding peace and solace from there. Allah the Almighty showed this pain to His beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, so that the coming Ummah would learn the lesson of patience and trust. From that day, Abu Talib kept Muhammad, peace be upon him, in his home as the crown of his children. The house was small. Food was often scarce. But whenever Muhammad, peace be upon him, sat with them, blessings would descend. A story is very famous. One day, there was only a little food cooked in the house. Enough for only two or three people to eat. His wife said, "Today the children will remain hungry." But Abu Talib sat young Muhammad, peace be upon him, beside him and said, "Son, you also eat with us." As soon as you started eating after saying "Bismillah," that little provision kept increasing. All the children ate. The household also ate to their fill, but still, there was food left in the platter. This is the blessing of my Prophet, where a little food filled the stomachs of the entire household. Subhan Allah.
