Frankenstein in the Attic

Magic is real. You just have to look. Down below, up, above, around every corner, it will be there.

Hi, I am Zach, and this is another one of my stories from the Rose Garden. The Rose Garden is a fantasmagorical place. There is magic here. Really, magic is real. I have seen it many times. This place has strange creatures, mysteries, and monsters. Well, nice monsters.

When I got home, Dad was in the kitchen. He called out, "Zack, go find Shawn." So I started searching. Shawn does not talk. Mom says he is special, so calling to him does not work. So Shawn is not easy to find. Um, not here. He can be almost anywhere. Luckily, he was in the attic.

Shawn came over to an old, huge wooden crate. He looked inside. I was curious and walked up. Inside the crate was something amazing. It was Frankenstein's monster. Like I said, there is always something amazing happening here. I am very cautious. I got a great idea. Dad had an old antique battery charger. I decided a good idea would be to connect it to the pulse in his neck. "Charge him up," I thought. "What could go wrong?"

Later in the evening, I headed back home. I wanted to check out the attic. "Hi Mom," I was wondering how my experiment was going. "I knew it was a silly idea, Dad." So I got to the attic, and do you know what I found? Nothing. No Shawn and no Frank. The crate was empty. There was no Shawn and no Frank. Did the charger work? H. I had better go find them.

I went outside to see if I could find Shawn and maybe the monster from the crate. Following their path was easy. They left a trail. Things were broken and smashed. It looked like something big and dangerous had barreled through the neighborhood. Obliteration was a word in my head. The battery charger must have had a lot of power. The destruction path looked like it was headed straight to the park. Inside my head, I could imagine Frankenstein destroying the Rose Garden Park. I was starting to be concerned.

I got to the park, but everything looked okay. I looked around. The fountain was running. Nothing was broken. I figured maybe they did not come here. But no, there they were. I did not expect that. Shawn and Frankenstein were friends. The monster looked happy. I told Shawn to get Frankenstein back home and into the crate before someone catches us. I said I would ride ahead to make sure they were not seen. Oddly, all along the way, there was no one to be seen. There was no one on the streets, no cars, no one outside anywhere. That was odd. I wonder where everybody was.

When I pulled up to my house, there was a mob of people with lights and clubs. They were yelling about a monster. I wondered why they thought we had anything to do with monsters. "Wait!" I yelled. "I saw the monster at the mummy museum." They looked confused. "I said, follow me," and they did. I needed to get them away before Shawn and Frank showed up.

When I got the crowd away from the house, I turned and came back to the house. Dad looked concerned. "Why did they see monsters?" he asked himself quietly. He turned and went upstairs. Dad walked down the hallway and strangely turned, then opened the door to a storage room. I was worried he would go to the attic and see we had been up to something. Dad walked right back from the storage room. I hoped Shawn had time to get Frankenstein back in his box. Dad went up the stairs, straight toward the attic. I called out, "Wait!" He did not wait. He headed toward the attic. When he opened the door, the attic was clear.

The next morning, Shawn and I were having breakfast together. I was looking at Shawn and thinking how amazing it was that he befriended Frankenstein, then walked him back home and into the crate before we were caught. I guess Mom was right. He really is special. Then something occurred to me, and I said, "Dad looked inside the storage room before looking in the attic when he heard about a monster loose." I wonder what is in the storage room. Shawn just looked up at me with a very mischievous smile. Was he planning another adventure?
