Abandoned Dallas40:02

Transcription

[Music] trying to figure out what's next. Sebastian Robertson spoke with her about the final days in the soon to be demolished [Music] number one. [Music] [Music] foreign.

This is literally my childhood mall. I used my mom used to work here for many years. I mean, my dad would just walk around [ __ ] wait for her get off work. This was pretty much my life for a few years. Now seeing it this way, in this condition, it's just kind of surreal. Walk around and watch it like this. It's completely destroyed. So we're gonna be very careful. There's apparently Scrappers everywhere, and some of them can be aggressive. So I'm gonna be a little more careful. And you know, we'll see what we can find. See if they have the security, security barriers right here to block people because it was still open for AMC, but they block people from going to the rest of the mall. Yeah, Noah, it's completely open. All for us today. I'm joined by Marcus from Rolling Lens Photography. His links will be down below in the description. You just have your, you know, various vendor booths. Looks like that used to be a Blue Bell ice cream. Just the looks of them, you know, great dang amazing. Now completely abandoned in this desolate wall. Now look at that. [Applause] It's an abandoned AMC Theaters. We're definitely gonna check that out later. Look at the elevator car, just stuck kind of midway. It's all shattered. Almost looks like somebody shot paintballs at it and just destroyed the glass. But look at this, guys. It's like somebody at one point just had like a bike or maybe a go-kart or something, just, you know, crank out some burnouts and burnies. It's just skid marks all over the place, everywhere, guys. It almost looks like snow. This is very Rolling Acres-esque. Call this mall snow. Abandoned mall snow. [Applause] That's the famous security booth. But this is where they watched for people to, you know, go over the security fence right here. In guest services, they used to have monitors, intercom systems, you know, they're missing the TVs now, obviously, because somebody took them. But yeah, keys, alarms, everything right here, just to stop people from going down over the barrier. Look at this. There's a jewelry store right here. Yeah, nice. So you can tell this is walled off before the mall closed. So this was abandoned way before. Looks like the Scrappers have really made their way in there to the breaker box. Oh, you know what? This was not a jewelry store. Sunglasses store or something. It may have been a jewelry store. Yeah, it looks like a jewelry. Yeah, I bet you it was. It's just, oh well, that's his eyes. It could have just been frames and just frames and glasses. Yeah, probably so. Look at that. How they crudely just walled off the place. No, all the glass broken. That's where you would see the piece of jewelry on one end, but they put in this drywall to make it go away. Cool little store. Okay, just let them smash glass. I know. Oh, yeah, and you're doing the same thing. If I was that age, I love the lighting here. It's just so perfect. How the [ __ ] do they crack? Oh, they probably got on the roof. Yeah, holy crap. Yeah, that shouldn't be hard. [Applause] But look, guys, how they crudely just section off even the top floor of this mall, guys. This is a panel from up there. This is like a, feels like a damn bulletproof glass. Look at that. Oh, [ __ ] we're friends. Almost turned into cell phone accessories. Stuff like this, you know, that the mall's about to, about to become abandoned. It's probably nothing too interesting here. I'm sure they had like a repair section in the back where maybe that's just corridors, or maybe we're about to get [ __ ] stabbed. Yes, the back door doors. Look at this. Oh, yeah, we are. Look at the size of this safe. Wow, that's creepy as [ __ ]. That's actually creepy. We didn't know that. You guys know I gotta check out the bathroom situation. That's disgusting. There's turds all over the toilet, all over. Gross, dude. It feels like we're. So this is probably gonna go back to like the loading docks in the front area. Oh, look, Gymboree. Yeah, it tells you the names of the stores. Oil, this is the back room. We'll, uh, I mean, don't get me wrong, don't let me get us off track. I'm just kind of going. Another bathroom, bathroom right there. Oh, [ __ ] they have to pee. Looks like, uh, inventory, maybe backstock for, yeah, something like that. Oh, this is another storefront. Wow, this is. We came in from being abandoned for a long. Last time. Look at this carpet. What was that? That is clean. Oh, we got pastel pink right there. This place has been definitely closed for a while. Wow. Welcome back to the 90s. This feels like a Dead Rising that video game, you know, we're going through the mall and [ __ ]. Wow, it felt like, uh, especially going through that hole, dude, like, uh, there's a [ __ ] Beyblade arena. What? There's a Beyblade. It's so random. Did we stumble upon like the underground Beyblade arena? Look at that. That's so random. Someone that used to work here brought their kid up there and, yeah, and that's what they kept themselves busy with. Look at this. It's brand new. I don't know what this is, though. Oh, it's, uh, fancy ass light fixture. Wow. Oh, no. What did I step on? That's hella sticky. That looks like pee. He's not sticky, though. No, no. You know this from experience. Well, it's probably whatever's in that. It looks like some stain, like some stain or paint or something. We're gonna go with that because I like that option a little bit better. Over there. Oh, you know what? This, this was, what was this? Polo Ralph Lauren. Yeah, it's more sunglasses. This is crazy. Maybe this was like a back inventory room. Yeah, you're there. Just like this was actually stretched out or something. This was actually a pretty decent-sized mall, but they knocked down so much already that there's only like a few stuff remaining. This looks pretty intact for a mall that looks like damn C4 went off of it. That was one of the coolest features of this mall. Most remembering too that I remember these dome chandeliers. Really? I, yeah, I didn't grow up over here. I was mainly Arlington, Grand Prairie area. Holy crap, is a big store. I wonder what that is. Wait, oh, I thought there was power on. There's just something reflected. That would be insane. So creepy how when I shine my light, like the metal like grates on the lights look like almost like they're on. There has to be some kind of like arcade here. I feel like. Oh, this guy has to be. But even if there was, definitely in the movie theater, there'd be at least a little mini one. This was a gym. It looks like a boxing gym. Yeah. [Applause] That's where the ring would have been right there. I guess. Yep. Maybe they actually didn't have a ring and it was just like, you know, fight on this hardwood floor. I bet you this is just where the ring went. So there's got to be a little, uh, locker room. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, here we are. Coach. Oh, hold on. That's cool. Ooh, trippy. Three of me. Three Cloud Chasers in one room. Oh, man. This is where it stops. Dead end. Has some certified mold, ladies and gentlemen. Oh, boy. Let's get out of here. Let's disturb it. So what the coach? That's not a very big office for the coach, unless there's like a false door in there that goes. Maybe it's just like a coach storage, uh, unit or something where he just stands there until he's needed. Here we go. You are here. So we're at the front of the, basically, we've got all this in our upper level right here. Yeah. Okay, so we've basically explored all this. I think go right and left. There's pieces of the food court that are still left, which would be cool to see. And we'll work our way up to the top. Maybe we can even get to that. Oh, yeah, that skylight up top. We definitely will be able to. [ __ ] Yeah, let's do it. [Applause] Well, that's beautiful right now. Look at this, guys. Went up and down these elevators. My dad, so I can kind of picture it right now. The food court used to be under all this, and my dad would be eating or whatever. I'd get bored, I'd just ride this elevator up and down, up and down. I was one of those [ __ ] kids. But check it out now. Look at the shape of that. I have no clue how that could have happened. It's not even level. Very surreal. Now we go, and then this thing just. My rational fears was a wooden structure. I would say my irrational fear is this thing just started on us. [Applause] You gotta be careful here. Yeah, it's a glass. Every square inch of this place, guys. Look at that. No more wall. That is weird, dude. You think you're in the mall and it's just like wide open. This is a food court. This is the beautiful food court, guys. That's one of my other obsessions is food courts. I don't know why, but check these out. They just have so much personality. And then over there, you have openness because there used to be a wall there. Not anymore. There's a what? A boat? Boat? Like a speedboat? What the [ __ ]? Move. What in the world? That's a sailboat. What the heck? Is anyone missing a boat? What are the chances of that? Really nice. How, all right, obviously somebody was legally dumping and they want to get rid of their sailboat. Looks like a perfectly. It is a lot of work. Wow, that's, uh, I'll add that to my [ __ ]. I've never seen before, especially in an abandoned mall. Right now, Marcus brought this up or figure found it. It's just like [ __ ] bubbles in the wood. It's so weird to walk on. It's almost like a trampoline, and then I just fall through like four feet. Yeah, it's weird walking on it, right? It is. It's like it's wood, but there's air or some [ __ ]. This one actually, you could probably get some hair eyes. [Music] I don't think that's actually wood. That's got to be some sort of your positive, some laminator material. Where is it? This might actually be looking more familiar. If I remember right, on the other side, it's going to start grading down like a little ramp. This looks really familiar. The tiling. Look at that, guys. There's so much more character back then. Even, even subtle stuff like this, just color tiling. You know, as a kid, you see this and you just think, oh, it's a fun place. Fun place to eat. Oh, I have no clue where this could have been. They got the old school menu looking thing there. Okay, guys, it's actually starting to come back to me. So there would be tables, chairs there. Tables, chairs here. There was a GameStop from what I remember. Actually, it might have been on that one, but this whole thing, the side of this wrapped around of nothing but solid glass. If you've come here, you know when this section was open, you would remember there's just nothing but glass surrounding this little eatery right here. They have the tables there. They had a GameStop somewhere. I swear to you, I think it was that corner over there where it might have been right where that is. But if you all know, y'all know about the ramp, the famous ramp that just went up in the food court. Wow. Holy dude. If I was a skater, I'd be here, man. I'd be out here with a broom cleaning all this [ __ ] up and doing rail grinds down. Oh, look at how retro this is. The pastel pink marbling or whatever the heck it is. That reminds me of like an old Brahms or something. Yeah, but this was walled off too, right? This wasn't anything for a long time, even based on that scene, because I think really old. Wild. The can lights. Can't forget the can lights. Oh, dude, the menu's still up. Oh, no, that's what's up. Look at there. It's all pizza place, quesadillas. This used to be a Subway, if I remember right. It looks about right. Yeah, and then they just sold it off and said, hey, sell some quesadillas. Do the oven. Those ovens are not cheap. Look at that, guys. Look at that oven. It's abandoned. Well, I mean, there's no way to take that beast out of here. So no, that's it's a lot of weight. Look at the prices back then. Even Philly cheesesteaks, six bucks. And whatever that's about standard, right? It would probably be about 10 now. Really? Yeah, inflation, guys. Inflation's destroyed the world. Yeah, yeah. 16-inch pizza for 16 bucks. I guarantee it'd be close to 20 now. Yeah. Wow, that was wild, dude. Being able to see the sectioned-off area. It's always kind of been a dream of mine to come back here and now nobody's here to say [ __ ] about it. I'm just waiting for like a massive steroid-infused rat to just jump out at me. Mr. We're always the guy that finds the cool [ __ ]. He just told me come over there, so I'm sure it's gonna be cool. See what it is. Would you find the whole upper level is exposed? The wall is out like this. Oh, that's wild, dude. This is some. It's like they just tore the whole [ __ ] face. Another side of the mall. That's exactly what they did. That's how they're getting ready to, I guess, demo the whole thing, but then they just stopped. Look at that, guys. It's just half a mall at this point. That's crazy. That's half a changing room, man. No, no partitions. It's just completely. Look at that carpet. That looks like an arcade. Holy crap. That is sick. That is the arcade if I've ever seen it. Hell yeah. Look at that, guys. Straight up 80s arcade carpet. Like he said, oh, frisbee with the little triangles. Done. Frisbee. Old Navy. No, Old Glory. Use glorious. Glorious. Misspelled, right? That's not how you spell that. I was like, glory hole. It's an adventurous. Oh, this is cool. Hold on. I gotta get a shot of this. Okay, this little work schedule. That's history. Oh, [ __ ]. What is a store name? McDonald's store schedule. Oh, it's 1990. Hold on. I gotta get a shot of that. Is there a happy test equipment, refrigeration, and plumbing? It's like a whole [ __ ] store manual. There's another [ __ ] frisbee, dude. That's like a 90s Happy Meal box. What movie is this? No way. Snow White. The heck? Snow White. Holy crap. That's a VHS movie. It's wild, dude. Yeah, this is insane. This is history. What a find. Let's get some as as fast as it is. More. What the hell? That is wild. Literally. This is how they graded the mall, guys. And you can see it right here. Oh, my God. This is wacky. That is weird. I didn't think we'd find this walking through here. No, but they had like a little display thing, maybe. And they put it like, float. I don't know. That's weird. Uh, this might have been just dumped here. Yeah, I don't think this is ever meant to be seen. Yeah, that's crazy though. No wonder it feels cooler down here. Yeah, I mean, this is just a dead room with a vintage Coke thing. I think Bob could this have been a. No, the walls don't look right. It's like if this has been a walk-in freezer, but I don't think so. It's just a store here. Yeah, it looks like cold storage, I believe. Yeah. What do you think? Back out? Or yeah, it's in store. Look at that. I'm gonna get on that. I don't care if it breaks. I gotta hold you. I don't give a [ __ ] if it breaks. And then there's just creepy [ __ ]. Ouch. Does it help to have a cage on it? Ah, that hurt. Ah, that's a good quality cage. You felt that? Oh, hell yeah. I got the corner of it. Because we're back inside the mall on the inside, inside. And just look at this. Oh, that's. Does that not look a lot like it? What the [ __ ] dude? It's just been walled off from the world, and now it's our chance to explore it. Uh, holy [ __ ]. It's a wall. It sure is. Sure is, dude. It's a walled-off food court. Holy crap. This is a time capsule, guys. Check out all the signs have actual neon. You'll never see this today. Now it's just shitty fluorescent or LED. LED, which has no character. And you know, these, there's no globe. Yeah, but look at that. The factors are completely intact. Is what's most shocking to me. I wonder how long this has been walled off for. This is a Chinese food. Oh, that's kind of gnarly. I wish there was some kind of indication of a date. Oh, because I was telling my friend, I wonder if the kitchen's intact on the other side. This place is an active. Oh, is everything here? Yeah, yeah. What the [ __ ]? It's kind of tight, but. Oh, yeah, guys. What the heck? Everything's here. That's gross, but yeah, everything's here. All the instructions in Spanish for my people, because we're all usually the cooks, no matter if it's Asian food or pizza, Italian. Yeah, but this is, this goes, uh, this is weird. Oh, is that a deep freeze? That might be the walk-in cooler. Okay. Oh, no, it's just a corridors. Love me some cream pies. You guys enjoy cream pies? Like a little. I know it's not a shower, but oh, it's like a, something, not thing. Yeah, Ecolab. But no, there's no way because that Subway has not used neon in since the 90s. Yeah, there's no way. There's more, guys. See this food court? I remember it being pretty massive, and now I know where it went. Oh, gotta check out the restroom situation. I'm gonna be respectful. Not going to the ladies' restaurant. Yo, there you go. Yo, this is a time capsule. What the heck? Look at this. Scrappers got to it, but you know, I gotta check out my restrooms, guys. Even have to get some murdered one day. Yeah, I don't really want to open because I can already tell these are gonna be nasty. Yeah, they're all clogged with [ __ ] and paper towels, but look at these countertops, the tiling. This may have been, I don't know, man. I wish it was some kind of indication of when they might have walled this area off. Maybe we'll find something later down the road. Here we've got to go by. Is that time machine? Oh, yeah, that was wild, dude. That was actually wild. Oh, yeah, I, I want to take the opportunity to see this. So here are the fountain pumps, guys. If you're ever curious about what drove those, you know, the water fountains on the outside, this was it. Just like a pool. Gonna go back upstairs. Will bust an ass and check out the cinema. It's supposed to be fairly intact, so I'm actually very excited about that. So, uh, let's go have a look, shall we? Look at this car, guys. Completely abandoned, destroyed. It's the hottest thing because this wasn't even a Valley View Mall, or it was a Midtown project car. It's a, it's a new car too. It's like a new Escape. Didn't even have a chance to be a real security vehicle because this is for the Midtown project, so this would even have been for the mall. Crazy. And look at all this leftover construction equipment. Like this stuff is not cheap. But look, guys, that's the craziest thing. It's a legit speedboat, a Sea Ray, just completely abandoned in a mall. Of all places. That's nuts. Just, just listen for one second. It's a very ominous sound. You'll hear it. It sounded like something was playing on a speaker, but it sounded like creepy music. That sounds like machinery, like a Sawzall or something. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, it is. You're right. It sounds so creepy, dude. It is. That sounds so creepy. They're probably scrapping. [Applause] [Music] Someone's in here. Oh, I might say this. Hey, that was just a. It's just a guy with a lightsaber. I'll give you that. It sounded so creepy. I was like, what? [Applause] Yeah, it's just literally a guy practicing his lightsaber. And I guess what better place. Stuff you see in Dallas, guys. All right, and up we go. Oh, yeah, here we go, dude. I can still smell the popcorn. There's a bike. Maybe that's his, or maybe I'm about to get shanked. Thank you, guys. We're here. This still smells like popcorn, which is the weirdest thing. Check it out. Holy crap, that is neat for sure. Look at this, guys. He had a nice view of the mall. I know there's like a little catwalk sort of thing, dude, over here by the way. Oh, did you say Adam? I did say hi back. Did we? We heard the oddest sound and they were like, oh, there's probably Scrappers. No, now we're just shooting. You know, we're just documenting. I'm going in there. There's an intact movie theater. It's completely open. What do you want to know where? Hmm. That looks so cool with the lights by the door. Thank you. Holy crap, concessionary. The arcades are obviously gone. It's an intact AMC, guys. He's taking us up to the projection area. [ __ ] right? Yeah. Oh, [ __ ]. Oh, wild, dude. Damn, that's wild. It goes down this way and the hills over and then this way a little bit. All right, it's gonna be quite a climb for me at least because I'm fat and out of shape. All right, guys, gotta climb up there, so I'll talk to you when I'm up there. I don't think there's a lock, so I think we're straight. All right, guys, that was complete failure. Walked all the way up there and it was just, I don't know if it was latched, but it was jammed because it was not wanting to open whatsoever. But, uh, we're gonna find a different way out. Starting with this way. Maybe that's like the party room section, you know what? Maybe they're like little arcade machines for the employees here. Um, actually, this was like a screening room, maybe. Look at that. Maybe, um, never mind. Actually, [ __ ]. I don't know. Merry Christmas. And that looks like somewhere you'd hang a projector. Yeah, it might have been. Alessandra was here. If y'all are watching this, piece of chalk. Look for a piece of chalk. I, um, some of this chalk is looking suss. My boy is looking like crushed up crackers. Cool. Look at that, dude. These nostalgic floors with all the inspirational quotes. This is what you see when you walk into an AMC theater. You see amazing quotes. The smell of popcorn, which it kind of still kind of smells like it. [Music] Look at that. Everyone's here. Hi, craziness. Thank you. Counter. The funny thing is, the only thing that remains is like the, the section where you get your tickets. I mean, the glass is just completely gone, and they would have the screens with the times on there, and, you know, you'd be here with a bunch of food on your shirt, you know, just one ticket, please. And you went. But be careful because security is watching you. [Applause] So, yeah, you heard that. Yeah, I had the cameras off, but like, it made the most ominous sound in the world, especially echoing off the walls. That's so cool. Our friend's using his lightsaber to light up the way. [Music] To bring it down. Oh, yep. This is squishy. Yes. Yeah, I feel seeping through my shoes, so that's nice. Wow. Holy crap, there's a fire. Yep. I'm trying to avoid all the dripping. Loss. The size of these speakers. Look at that. These are huge. Oh, yeah. Behind the screen. They're JBL's too. Damn. Imagine having these in your trunk. Blow your [ __ ] windows off. Holy crap. Looks like there was a fire here. [Music] But look at this, guys. There's speakers back there. There's speakers up here. These are the ones that [ __ ] shake your seat. These are the JBL's. This is wild, man, because this was the last thing to go. The theater. Yeah, it's wild that everything is still in there. It is. Usually it's the seats are usually the first to go, and the speakers. I'm sure. Oh, yeah. One on one side, one or the other. Yeah, they still have them on. Uh, look at that. They're still on the ceiling too. Every single one of them. The JBL UE, bruh. This is a, this is a treasure trophy. Yeah, sitting in the dark. Steve Nash. Marcus is setting up our Pluto Nash. My bad. Nope. Back we go. I don't know, man. It smells suss, though. Say that they don't smell right. So he's done more videos than I have. I've been quite a few, and I'm, well, I'm probably right. I'm sure I have. There are more theaters. I'm sure it's just gets repetitive after a while. Oh, yeah. Gotta check out the restroom, though. All right, this was a mistake. What the women's restroom? Oh, there's like a big pile of [ __ ] just like on the corner right here. Well, look at that. At least they went to the restroom. That's true. That's at least what's a designated area. Can't be too mad. It's a full kitchen. Part of myself. Look at that. So you want to add your candy? This is, I don't know what that says. Regular, like a kids' school parties, you know, like a kid may have had it. Gourmet Popcorn. I'm gonna take that. Actually, don't know where we're going. No, Rick and Morty. If you like [Music] right on, dear. Come on, man. Uh, just for our own personal, uh, accounts. Yeah, you have, uh, you have social media? Yeah, yeah. No, and up he goes. I mean, not one the premiere. Dallas. Oh, that's sunset. Come on to the first part. You can see. Yeah, let's go. You can see how these guys are just broken all the way down to the face. This one's actually open. It's quite a white. That's quite a ways down. And up we go again. Shorter in a second. There thing of ladders. We're up here. We out here. Look at all this shit's been ransacked. Oh, yeah. It's not the first [ __ ] to go. We're fully visible up here, guys. So we're gonna try to make this fast. Oh, yeah. I'm gonna get down here. Is that? Yeah, that's the one. I'm gonna try to make this fast because high traffic, high world. They're like hot, and we're already on our way out. Yeah. Holy [ __ ]. Oh, there's a cop over there. What? Where? Over there. Is that cop car? I can't tell, but let's just get the [ __ ] out here. Yeah, I just hate how skinny do you have to be of these [ __ ] things? Really? If I didn't have the backpack on, it'd be no problem. I hear police cars. Are they here for us? Perhaps. Such a surreal exploration. I see a big ass fingerprint on my lens. Look at that. It will focus on it. That's okay. This has been a great exploration. Like this sunset. It's beautiful exploration. Very glad I got to hit this mall before they, you know, eventually knock it down. We've met some cool people. All other Scrappers. I mean, not all Scrappers are bad, you know. Not all of them pull guns at you. Some of them just have lightsabers. All right, guys, well, that's our exploration. Make sure to like and follow, subscribe. Make sure to follow my friend Marcus here. You can follow him. Link down below. And, uh, I'm out of breath, guys, but we'll catch you next time. Began today on Valley View Mall in North Dallas. Dallas Midtown project will replace them all over the next few years. It will include a park, new restaurants, and
