Queen Victoria's reign began in 1837 and lasted until the Queen's death later on in 1901.
Now at just age 18, Alexandrina Victoria had to rise up to the throne. Queen Victoria was fifth in line when she was born, so right off the bat, it was actually very unlikely she would ever get the crown. But then, one by one, all of her family members began passing away suddenly. So by time 1830 rolled around, Victoria was only 11 years old and already she was next in line for the throne.
So as if that wasn't bad already, Victoria was also brought up under the Kensington system. Victoria's mother, Duchess Victoria of Kent, created this system to control her daughter. She literally isolated her from birth from mates or family members. Her mother did this to keep her pure. Her mother would monitor every single action, including who she can see or speak to at all times. She shared a room with her mother until she was finally Queen. Yeah, she literally couldn't walk down the hallway alone.
Victoria has reflected on her childhood and she confirmed that she hates John Conroy for manipulating her mother.
