So today I have the honor and the privilege of having the Provo Beast audio installer Chris at my house on location to help me install the speakers on my F-150 Lightning. I thought the B&O system that came in these was actually going to be pretty decent. Turns out it's not, so we're going to change that today. So this is the factory B&O speaker and uh, little uh, thing we're gonna get rid of it.
So we're upgrading to the Alpine R series. Um, Chris from the Provo Beast believes this is a really good bang for the buck speaker. I'm not a big spender, so we're going this route and uh, just obvious the quality is much better all the way around. So while Chris from Provo Beast is here installing these and helping me out, he also brought me some merch. We got the Provo Beast hat all the way from Utah.

Um, he's got all sorts of content on all sorts of manufacturers of vehicles and speakers and amplifiers and video equipment as well, backup cameras, the the whole nine yards. He's got he's got everything. Lots of great content on his channel. I really appreciate him coming out to California from Utah to help me out with this. It allowed him to get some content on the F-150 Lightning, allowed me to get some really good labor at a really good rate, and I got a free hat, so I got that Provo Beast hat I can show off now.

Okay, so just like that, clips into place. We put some foam up and around this so it doesn't rattle here in the door. That's all in now. It's always a good idea at this point in time to do a test to ensure the speaker is working properly before you reassemble the door panel. Once you can confirm everything is sounding great, you can go ahead and reassemble the door panel itself in reverse order.
So pulling the tweeter out of the A-pillar here and uh, we're going to be reusing this bracket and the new tweeter. We already did one side. The new tweeter is going to pop right back into its place and then uh, it doesn't have necessarily any type of retention clip or anything, so we're going to seat it in there and keep in place with the possibly a little bit of hot glue. So the tweeter actually seats in there really well. It's pretty dang firm, but we're just going to put a little bit of hot glue behind there just to hold it in case of future rattling vibrations.
All right, so for the A-pillar, uh, in order to put that back in, it just pops into place. We dropped the crossover down underneath here, down below the tweeter. It's all tucked in, so it's nice and soft down there so if it rattles around, you can always wrap it just in case. But based on the crossover design we have with this Alpine tweeter, it slides up to allow you to adjust the attenuation on the speaker in case you want to reduce the decibel output of it, just so it's not blaring. We want to keep that option, so we don't want to tape it and make it really hard to access that. Gotcha. So with it in there, if it does rattle, we'll cross that bridge. It shouldn't, based on its location there, but that's why we didn't wrap our crossover because it's we don't want to access to it if needed for maintenance. Yep, yep.
So the little teeth down there need to slip right on in, just like so. You'll see the spots where they slip in. Be very careful of your airbag. What I like to do is pull down your weather stripping a little bit, the door seal, and then whip that down. Make sure everything's kind of aligned with those teeth there, and then you'll see the little teeth and clip that'll fit right into that same location. Should snap in. Go and hit your door seal back in. Make sure that's nice and straight and clean. Then you'll have your two 10 millimeter bolts to put in, and then both tweeters are now in. Both tweeters are in and it looks factory. Both front speakers are in. Did the one rear speaker over here so far, and we're going to open up this one. Let's film that.
So for a very quick recap, to remove this door panel, you've got a seven millimeter bolt behind this reflector. You've got two down here at the bottom, and you've got one behind the sail panel here, and you've got two behind this little panel here. The whole door will then lift up, pop off, lift up, undo all your little harnesses and everything, and uh, replace the speaker. On the A-pillar, if you have the tweeter up here, you're going to pop off this little teeny panel right here. That'll expose two 10 millimeter bolts. You're gonna take out those bolts and this whole panel will just pop off, replace the tweeter. The back door is uh, the same as the front door except it doesn't have the sail panel here, so it's going to be a little bit more simple.
I got to tell you guys, these Alpine Type R speakers sound phenomenal compared to that B&O standard stuff. So for a quick little uh, recap, these are the old B&O speakers that came out of the F-150. And what you're going to need, those are the fronts, tweeters, which are going to need the adapter for that. That's the 82-5606, that's for the six by nines and the fronts. And you'll also need this wiring harness of 72-5602. These both come in pairs, so one of each. And I ended up going with the Alpine six by nines Type R. They were actually a little bit on sale. I was gonna go with the Type S, but the R was a little bit on sale, so it wasn't too much more for a better quality. And then for the rears, we went also the Type R, and these are the six and a half inch. And for those, you'll need this adapter kit, which is the 82-5605, and you'll need the same wiring harness as the front, the 72-5602. And I'll link all this in my video if you wanted to pick up the same speakers or the same adapters. I'm super happy with these speakers for the price. These sound phenomenal compared to these old junkers. These were far cheaper and in build quality and sound than I thought that they were going to be, so I'm happy to get rid of them.
