Foreign [Music] to mess with me? Is she trying to hurt me? Are they trying? Are they deliberately messing with me to make me miserable? It sure feels like it. Is there narcissistic and emotional abuse intentional? In some cases, yes. And in many cases, no.

Now, before you, before you leave, hear me out. Let's talk this out. Click on that subscribe button. Share the video with others. Love to hear your reaction to my thoughts about this. Is there narcissistic and emotional abuse intentional? In some cases, yes. In many cases, no. If not, how do we explain this horrific behavior?

I think we can explain it by saying to you, character pathology. What does that mean? Character pathology? Well, Wikipedia says this about character pathology. I was fascinated to read this, and I think it really resonates with me, and I think it'll resonate with you. Character pathology is typically defined as an enduring, as enduring patterns of cognition, emotion, and behavior. Ah, enduring patterns of cognition, emotion, and behavior. Now, read "enduring" as being entrenched, locked in, long-standing. This individual has likely been acting this way for a long, long, long time. Hence, that's why I call these individuals little boys, little girls, emotionally underdeveloped. They have long-standing, enduring patterns of cognition, emotion, behavior. Cognition, of course, is the way one thinks, distorted, distorted. The way one emotes, distorted, distorted. The way one behaves, distorted, distorted.

Now, here's something else for you to wrap your thoughts around. In clinical psychology, character pathology is characterized by three things that I want to highlight for you. Again, Wikipedia shares a lot about this, and it's worth reading about. We're thinking about clinical psychology says that character pathology is marked by three primary traits. Number one, adaptive inflexibility. What does that mean? Adaptive inflexibility. It means this individual has learned to pout. They've learned to withdraw. They've learned to blow up. They've, they've learned something really crummy, and they, they've inflexibly attached themselves to it. They behave this way again and again and again and again and again. Oh, you're saying, "Well, wait a minute, this person doesn't act that way with others." I don't know. Under certain conditions, might they? Might they? Of course. Not in other conditions. Maladaptive or adaptive inflexibility.

Point number two, vicious cycles of maladaptive behavior. Vicious cycles. They do this again and again and again. They blow up again and again and again. They slam doors, or they withdraw, or they take things personally. They flip the script. They blame shift. Vicious cycles of maladaptive behavior that they fail to learn from. They fail. They don't sit back and go, "Wait a minute, I'm not so sure this is working for me anymore." Oh, wait a minute, I don't have the problem. They do. It's not my fault. It's their fault. I don't need to change. They do a lack of ownership, a lack of taking responsibility, then leads to these vicious cycles of maladaptive behavior done again and again and again and again and again.

And point number three, emotional instability under stress. Oh boy. You think emotional instability under stress. So, this person with character pathology overreacts to situations, has very poor frustration tolerance, doesn't sit back and reflect, does not take ownership, blames, agitates, aggravates, argues, pushes back. So, again, let's think about these three traits. Adaptive inflexibility, inflexibility, that's going to lead to the same kind of reactions done again and again and again, again bringing to question, is this narcissistic and emotional abuse intentional? Point number two, vicious cycles of maladaptive behavior. Their bad behavior is born out of their personality, or someone has called their personnel, reality, a personality is a personal reality. This is the water I swim in. This is the water the abuser swims in. Point number three, emotional instability under stress. Because maturities, remember, after all, maturity is the ability to tolerate stress and to manage stress effectively. But little children don't tolerate stress very well at all, do they?

All right. So, again, bringing into question whether or not narcissistic and emotional abuse is intentional. It sure feels intentional, doesn't it? Because you've told them, "Look, stop hurting me in this way," and they hurt you again and again and again and again. Look, can't you see it doesn't get you what you want, and they do it again and again and again and again. Look, can't you see that you're distorted in your thinking, and they think that way again and again and again and again. So, it feels very intentional, and in this sense, it is intentional. What can, what, what is a person with character pathology able to do? Well, they're able to get help. Come on, we can all get help. And if we get the right kind of help, the right kind of help, we will be challenged in the way we think, in the way we emote, in the way we behave. And if we get the wrong kind of help, we'll be in an echo chamber where all of our crummy thinking, behaving, and emoting is supported when it needs to be challenged. All right. Oh, tough topic, right? Tough topic.

Is narcissistic and emotional abuse intentional? In some cases, yes. In many cases, it's born out of really, really, uh, emotionally immature and pathological character that needs very, very significant intervention and help. And we've got videos on that topic too. All right. Click on that subscribe button. Share the video with others. And yes, give me feedback. What do you think about this character pathology? It is not a pass to behave badly. It is not. They need help, and they need intervention, to be sure. They need to be challenged and confronted, to be sure. So, it's not a pass to behave badly. All right. If we can help, please click on that link. We've got a client care team ready, willing, and able to help you. I know this is a challenging, challenging topic. All right. Take care, and as always, God bless.
