Alright man, peace. You know, so many times Kobe Bryant fans come on my channel, they try to give me a hard time about how I, quote unquote, "get on your boy." There's nothing I'm getting on your boy for. It's that your homeboy Kobe Bryant is so full of [ __ ]. Anybody who watched the cat play his last two, three years in the NBA knows that he was one of the worst players in the NBA. As a matter of fact, in his last season in the league, he was statistically the worst player in the NBA, offensively and defensively.
I vividly remember watching First Take at the time with Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. And Stephen A. Smith would blow a gasket whenever ESPN would release their prognostications for each individual player in the league, and Kobe Bryant would drop down lower and lower every season after he tried to come back from his Achilles tendon tear. He would just lose it on air. "How could you say Kobe Bryant is only the 53rd best player in the NBA? How dare you?" And then Kobe would be going to be the 160th best player in the NBA. And Stephen A. Smith will have nothing to say. He would not apologize to many of the ESPN statisticians who would prognosticate those, you know, those rankings. He would never say anything.
Just to show you that number one, the reason why Stephen A. Smith was getting so upset is because he utilizes too much of the eye test and too much of his emotions. Or number two, or maybe N number two, he's just lying to the cameras because he has a relationship or had a relationship with Kobe Bryant. I knew that Kobe was not going to be a very effective player after he came back from the Achilles tendon tear because so much of how he played was based on his explosiveness. Kobe has to be able to jump over you, or he had to be able to jump over you on his fadeaways, or he just was not going to be that great. Because his mindset was not about getting everybody else involved, so he held the team back for a couple of years.
The reason why I'm saying all this is because in this video, Kobe is going to allege that he can still play today if he wanted to. Now, those of us who live in the real world know that that's [ __ ]. Because once again, he couldn't even play in his last season. And cats, I'm sure gonna come into the comments, "What are you talking about? He scored 60 points in his last game." Yes, the [ __ ] scored 60 points in his last game. The man took 55 shots. I mean, hello. And my hermit was voice, hello.
So anyway, they gonna talk about how much I'm in Goldsboro played when he was 40. Vince Carter is out there playing when he's 42. Yeah, because before you were Tracy McGrady. Not you, Tracy McGrady. I mean, brother, you put on a few pounds. You look like you're enjoying that chicken and that rice, bro. That's that's why your that's why your tendons are flaring up. But I'll be honest with yourself. I respect that. Tracy McGrady. Yeah.
Kobe kills me, man. And he really believed that too. Like, Kobe really believed if I wanted to, I could play in the league. Right now, Kobe could come back and a team would give him a roster spot. Of course, the Lakers, they would give him a roster spot. But he would not be, he would not be an effective player in today's NBA. He just wouldn't. You cats, once again, you're gonna get upset. It's okay. He would not be an effective player in today's NBA. He would get roasted and toasted. And on top of that, he would not be able to score on most of the defenders who will be assigned to guard him. Because outside of an offense where he was given complete carte blanche to take bad shots and have a no, a James Harden level of green light, he's not gonna be an effective offensive player because he's a volume shooter.
Really obsess about it. You can do it. The technology, nutrition studies, all things you have now. In other words, with the PEDS. But brother, no disrespect. Even with the PEDS, you couldn't compete with these young boys I had today. The game is way, way, way too fast for you. The game today is even faster than it was back in '06. The difference is that back in '06, '05, '07, when Kobe was at his peak, the game was much more physical. Kobe would not be able to keep up with these guys today. The ball movement would be too much for him. His head would be on a swivel. And then, and then they would just, I saw him and just roast him.
Matt, please. I just don't want to. Kobe, Kobe is trying to make people believe that he could play until he's 50 or 60 years old. Like when Jordan, when he finally was selected to go to the NBA Hall of Fame, he was on the podium and he said, "I might make one last comeback." Remember? He was like 47 years old or 48 years old. How old was he? He was there on the podium talking about he might be able to make one last comeback. That's that same energy that Kobe trying to put out there because he understands right now he's in a very good place with LeBron James now playing with the Lakers and coming up short. This allows the Kobe fanbase, which is very, very, you know, to mythologize him even more. So he has to keep the mythos alive. So I understand it. But ready, full of [ __ ]. You need to stop. Anyway, peace.
