So if [snorts] you think about it, one of the most missed or hidden features in Gemini is Google gems. And just like all the Google AI ecosystem got upgraded, gems got upgraded too. So in this video, I want to share with you what those upgrades are. But most importantly, I want to share with you how to make the most out of gems.
So what we will do is we will cover two different things here. Number one, Google Opel is now part of gems. So that means that Gemini can now make no code apps using Opel as an out-of-the-box gem. And number two, which is really the groundbreaking one, is notebook LM is now available to your gem. That gives it amazing contextual superpower which allows you to reuse all of the research that you've done in notebook LM directly in Gemini.
So as always, I have created a scenario and I will take you guys through it end to end that will demonstrate how to make the most of gems. All right, so let's get right into it.
So to access gems, you need to come to Gemini and then here you have gems directly available, right? So you can already see they're talking about build AI apps in new kind of gems from Google labs. So that is the one which we will see very quickly. And then this is a gem manager where you can manage all the different gems that you have already created.
If you think about what GEM is, Gem essentially is a way for you to reuse all of your instructions, all of the knowledge that you have provided so that you don't have to do this multiple times every time you start a new chat with Gemini. Right? So if you play close attention, what Gem already has is the ability to actually add knowledge and the ability for it to behave a certain way, right? So Gem can actually behave as a deep research tool every time you call the gem. It can behave as a video creation tool, image creation tool. It can also behave as a no code app generation tool by writing code and then also like a guided learning. Right? So you have the capability to define that as a tool right here. So which defines its behavior.
But then this is where on the knowledge side of the house this has become very interesting. So you already were able to add files, photos and import code. But now you are also able to add notebook LM as part of the knowledge which really expands its context. So we'll look into that as well as we move forward in the video.
So here is a scenario that we will take. So I have my YouTube channel here and I have lot of different videos. So what I really want to do is every time whenever I'm deciding to make a new video, I generally try to brainstorm a little bit. So I have to always provide a ton of context. Even when I'm designing all of my thumbnails, I have to provide again a ton of context to Gemini for it to design in a particular aesthetic that I like, right? What if I could create a gem which could do this for me without me giving that additional context every time? So for me to do that, what I would really need to do is get all of the transcripts from all of my videos into a single place, then get all of my thumbnails into a single place, and then if only if I had that kind of an assistant. And that's where Notebook LM comes in.
So what we can do is we can go into notebook LM. Give this particular sheet as an input which I've collected from my YouTube studio. It also has the link to all of my URLs. So I'll go to notebook LM and I'm going to click on create. The first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to copy all the URL links from here and then go here and then paste all the URL links right there. So this is where the real power of notebook LM comes because this is not going to be possible if you directly do it on Gemini and you're also like collecting all the transcription of all of your videos right there. Right? So you can see already it has like really downloaded and got all the transcripts of all your files here. Right?
The next thing that I'm going to do is I'm going to upload the sheet directly from my Google Drive. This is the data that I have. So now it gives some of the analytics data as well. Right? It has not only got the transcripts of all my videos but now it has got some analytical data as well. I can start creating some additional assets if I want but then it has pretty much done its job. So I can basically stop here or if I want to do further analysis here I can do that. But for the moment what I really wanted to do was to collect all of this information so that now I have a really good understanding of my own YouTube channel and then this could also be dynamic, right? So every time there is a new video that is released, I can come and add that piece over here and this notebook LM gets refreshed as well. So wherever I'm importing this, this notebook LM itself is a refreshed one. Okay, so that's step one. We have created the notebook LM.
All right, so I'm back in Gemini and I'm going to go to the gems again and this is where I'm going to create a new gem from the get-go. And this is the knowledge piece. So I'm going to add this and I'm going to click on notebook LM. And there you go. You can see the stuff that we just did 87 sources which are basically all the videos that I have and the analytics. So I'm going to use that as the knowledge base. Right now what I'm going to do is I am going to have the first gem as a viral strategist. Right? So here I'm going to give this instruction. So what I want to do is this is a content strategist for my channel. Your goal is to maximize the duration and CTR and then the knowledge base is in my knowledge like analytics and all of these things. Right? So the thought process here is I should be able to have a strategical kind of a discussion with this and this is where I don't want to give it any kind of tool. I think this should be a normal tool and I can go ahead and save it.
So now I've created the first one where this is like a viral strategy. So every time I'm thinking of a new video I can just have a conversation with this. Right? So let's do a quick chat over here. So I just say hi and then now because it's a gem it has all of those things and it's already looking into these things. So I don't have to give anything anymore. I can simply come here and have a very focused discussion. So I'm ready to step in before we dive into here is a quick snapshot. These are all the videos etc etc. Right? So what topics are you interested in your next video? So I can start like immediately discussing and it is going to be very powerful. Right? So this is my first gem and you can see this was more of a direct discussion. I didn't give it a tool just yet or I didn't give it like a specific behavior.
Now let's make a second gem. All right. To make the second gem, we come back here and we create a new gem. And this time I want to have a script writer for me. And this is the prompt that I will give. And again we will have the same sort of knowledge base. So I'm just going to select AI with Surya. And this is the prompt that I've given. Right? You are the lead script writer. your knowledge base contains all of these things and this time I'm going to give it a deep research capability right instead of just splitting out like like a script right I'm going to just have a discussion on an idea and then it will do some research and then come back with a report which will become a script so again as soon as I'm clicking on this it has already got the deep research right give me a new gems let's see what it comes back with so now the idea is just like last time right it's going go through all of my existing notebook LM. So, it has got that tone and all of those things, but instead of just immediately answering, it is going to do a deep research for me. So, it's I'm basically leveraging the agent here and then it'll come back to me with a much more powerful one. So, here it has already put together a research plan, compare all of these things, and then it's I'm going to ask it to do that research, right? It is going to write the script for us. So, we'll give it a minute and then we can come back and look at once it has done that.
So while it is doing that we can come here and create another one and this time I want to create like a thumbnail expert right this is another problem that I constantly face where I have to spend a lot of time in creating the thumbnail. So now I'm just giving it an instruction that hey why don't you create the thumbnail for me and the idea is I'm just going to give it the tool which is the image generation tool. So now every time you know it will require me to give a topic and then based on that it should be able to create a thumbnail. So there you go. Okay. So it is asking for your script. So if I am able to provide the script or the topic. So Gemini gems and then it should directly be able to create a thumbnail for me. Right. And that is the I can make it even more customized by providing the script. But really you have to provide the instructions and the way you provide the instructions it's going to do a good job in getting it out. So it is providing all the title variations, different concepts. It's also providing all of these different things. I'm going to go ahead and do this. And now it should be able to create the image for us. So this itself would take a lot of my time. But now because it understands right like a minimalist, this is what I generally if you look at my thumbnails like that is what you would see. Um there you go. I don't know like I can just replace my face and have this for this particular video. But it's pretty cool. So there you go. That's another thing that I wanted to show you.
Okay. Now we move to the last piece which is an exciting one where you can use Google Opal out of the box as a gem. Okay. All right. So now we will create a mini app using Google Opal directly in Google gems. So for that we come here and then click on new gem. And this is where you can describe something in plain English. Right. So I'm just saying that I want to create an app which basically becomes my social media manager. So, I'm going to give it my existing thumbnail and a script. And then I'm asking it to generate a LinkedIn post. And I'm also asking it to generate like a LinkedIn image and then an Instagram image. Right? So, I'm just going to do that. And let's see this in action. So, now what it is doing is this is also creating a UI so that next time I can directly use this as an app as part of Gemini, right? So uh this is where you're able to create many apps and multiple mini apps which you can just use at any point in time. So that is exactly what I'm going to do. This was very fast. So let's test it out. Right. So you can see that video thumbnail, video script and all of these things. We're going to use the same thumbnail that we just created. Okay. So I'm just going to add this one and then I'm going to add the script like a random script that I have. So I'm just going to do that. And then now it's going to do the social media text and image instruction. So it's doing that based on the thumbnail and the script that I have provided. So that's pretty cool. So it has generated all of these detailed prompt automatically and that's the beauty of this particular tool, right? So you don't even have to write detailed set of prompts. It has stitched everything together and created a workflow. By the time it finishes, you'll be able to see the end-to-end result. Right? So we'll give it a minute and then we'll come back and see the final result.
All right. So looks like it has done a really good job. So I've asked it to do three things, right? One is the LinkedIn post. So you can see this is how usually people will post on LinkedIn and it is also because it is gem so it understands it is about my YouTube video. It is linking to the video as well and then it has given based on the channel it has also given the size and the dimension of the image also matches right. So this is the Instagram which is more squareish and this is for YouTube short which is 9 by 6 right and then obviously you have the capability to download the file as well. So now I have this gem and every time I need to create multiple assets very quickly I can do that and I don't have to create this multiple times right so I do have the context in this gem so I don't have to give that and then I can simply also give my just baseline thumbnail which I also by the way created through gems so you can clearly see how I can really improve my productivity leveraging this.
All right, so that was what I wanted to show you guys today. The power of gems and all the upgrades that gem has received. If you like the video, please hit that like button and subscribe. And also, please do share it with your friends. I will appreciate it a lot. And if you have any suggestions for what kind of videos you would want me to make next, please do let me know in the comment section.
