The biggest challenge a new tarot reader has is learning how to put the story together in the cards. Don't you agree? It's a cat-and-mouse game. You need to learn the cards, and then you need to pick the spread, which, for this episode, will be the three-card spread: past, present, and future. Then is finding the words to articulate what you're seeing. Believe me, some days are easier than others, which is why, much like the Two of Wands, you need a plan.
This episode is about the Two of Wands, which is all about making plans on something you're excited about. If you're new to my channel, my name is Carrie, and I have a podcast called Learn and Memorize Tarot Cards, which helps people learn and remember the meanings of tarot cards. This episode is about finding your words around the Two of Wands, whether they're in the past, present, or future position. Let's get into it.
If you see the Two of Wands in a reading, the querent is likely excited about the idea, and they're now making plans to do it. So let's start with the past position, and then we're going to talk, talk through some examples to help you find your words. Now, if you see the Two of Wands in the past position, then something is happening now that's related to the plans that you made in the past. Maybe there's something that you need; you accounted for it in your plans, and in your present, it's shown up for you.
So here's an example: We were talking in the Ace of Wands about a landscaping project, and let's say in the past you made plans; you decided that along your fence you want raspberry bush bushes. Now, fast forward to your present: your neighbor pops by and says, "Hey, I need my raspberries thinned out. Do you want to dig up my canes? No charge. I just want to thin them out." Now, because you already had a plan, you didn't miss the opportunity. That's an example of how the plan in the past shows up in your present.
Next, let's move on to the present position. When you see the Two of Wands in the present position, that means that the querent is actively making plans now on their passion project, but they haven't taken any action yet; they're just making plans. So what does that look like? For example, in the Ace of Wands, we're talking about a theme party. So what plans could look like is that they are searching on Google, and they're looking for ideas for how they're going to decorate the venue. They're thinking about what it's going to look like when people walk through the door; what are they going to see? What are they going to experience? So at this point, they're not out buying decorations, and the querent is looking ahead; they're visualizing their goal, and their mind is full of possibilities. The world is in their hand, and they are laying down plans to be executed in the future.
Next, let's talk about the future position. When you see the Two of Wands in the future position, it stands to reason that either in the past or in the present they got their idea, and they're excited, but they aren't ready to start making plans yet. And here are a couple of examples just to put it into context. If their passion project is starting a business, and they have the perfect idea, but the, they're a month away from graduation, so they're focusing on exams. Another example is financial constraints. Maybe the querent realizes that they will need some help to pull this off; maybe they're going to talk to a couple of people and maybe see if somebody wants to partner with them, or maybe they need financing. So they don't want to start laying down plans until they know who their stakeholders are, or it might simply be a mindset thing; they're not ready to commit to an undertaking of getting a new business off the ground yet, but in the future they'll start making plans.
Even though those are words that you can use to tell a story, the real story is in all the surrounding cards. So really, with the Two of Wands, what you're looking to do is you're looking to weave that story of making plans on a passion project into the story of the surrounding cards.
