PFW Challenge Day 15: Your Complete Winter Hydration Guide

It is really important to stay hydrated all the time, but especially in the winter months. And here's why: the air in the environment is oftentimes a lot drier, and that dry air really pulls moisture from our tissues. So we do need to drink more water in the winter, potentially. Um, that that's that's definitely something we have to pay attention to.

The other thing is that oftentimes we're spending more time indoors in the winter, which uh usually coincides with more time near high non-native EMF emitting devices like Wi-Fi routers, cell phones, tablets, Bluetooth speakers, smart technology—the smart tech that's in our homes these days. And so that means that we're actually dehydrating our body in that capacity as well, because non-native EMFs will not only dehydrate our physical tissues, but they'll also uh, you know, start to create some damage in our mitochondria's ability to make the water for us—that really is part of our true intracellular hydration. And so you can see coldness in winter, that dry air pulling the moisture from us, our proximity to tech might go up, um, and that will also dehydrate our bodies; that technology will also potentially damage our mitochondria's ability to make water for us. So we've got a lot of reasons why we're dehydrated all winter long.

And what's the issue with that? Is that when the body is dehydrated, we have a drought management system that gets kicked off by a chemical called histamine. So maybe some of you actually are suffering from histamine-related conditions such as POTS or dysautonomia, MCAS, or just have have been classified as being histamine intolerant. Well, did you know that dehydration actually worsens all histamine-related conditions? And that's because as soon as the body senses slight dehydration—and that starts in the blood, and that starts in the bloodstream—the body will start to increase that chemical called histamine. And while histamine is a drought management system, and so we're—it's actually its job is to actually reverse um, reverse dehydration, or it's the job is actually to kind of conserve water to key areas of the body. So it's really going to, you know, shut down the body's water utilization or partition it to where it's absolutely needed. Um, that histamine elevation can result in a massive amount of symptoms from the ones that we classically identify as histamine-related things like allergies and asthma and and skin conditions like eczema, like rashes. But there's a lot of conditions that are histamine-related that many people don't know about, such as digestive issues from pain to bloating to issues with bowel movements, to migraines and headaches, and chronic pain and inflammation, to even things like much a much worsening of conditions like those around PMS, such as cramping and bleeding. Um, there's a lot of issues even with uh autoimmune conditions such as interstitial cystitis and other autoimmune conditions like type 1 diabetes—all of those have a histamine component to it.

So can you imagine what what could happen if we're dealing with these things and all of a sudden they get worse in the winter? Could it simply be that we're just not hydrated in the same extent as we are in the summer when there's more moisture in the air and we're more likely to go outside and be away from tech that can be dehydrating? And we're also more likely to be in the sunlight that really also helps to maintain exclusion zone water inside of us—that sunlight that always contains infrared wavelengths of light that support that water battery and water network inside of us.

And so here is how you stay hydrated all winter long, and there's a couple of components to it. The first one is we need to drink enough water, and I've got my recommendations uh that you'll find for how to uh really make what what I would call a quality glass of water, but at at what you really at the bare minimum need to do is you need to find a good filter—the best water filter that works for you and your budget and your, you know, living situation—because we got to filter the toxins out of the water. If we're not filtering the toxins from the water, we become the filter, and oftentimes we're already overburdened with toxins as it is on a daily basis, and so we don't want to necessarily put more toxins into our bodies from the water that we drink. So number one, we've got to filter the water. Number two, we have to remineralize the water, and there's also additional ways to do that from various trace minerals that you'll see in the resources recommendations, um, and also you can even make your own solay water. I've got a recipe to make what's basically just called a dissolving a bunch of sea salt in a mason jar full of water; you can use drops of that to remineralize. So in general, per liter bottle of water that's been filtered, I add in about five drops of a trace mineral of some sort; my pref my preference is usually solay um because it's just super easy to make and to have on hand. And so then you're going to want to drink two to two and a half, if not three liters of this remineralized water every single day, spaced out throughout the day, so the body uh is going to use the water for the hydration, but the minerals also go and come into the body and help maintain adequate blood volume. So you really need to consume enough water.

And then if you want to take that water the next step to really enhance its energetic quality, quity, and its absorbability, you do things like structure it. And so again, I've got a lot of different options for structuring the water that are in the resources section. And so filter it, remineralize it, structure it, and then drink it all throughout the day. And so if you feel like you're drinking that amount or adequate amounts of water, here's the next step that I see a lot of people need to take: they need to make what's called an isotonic uh seawater drink. And so some of you can just buy Quinton isotonic if you want, right? That might be cost-prohibitive to some, but if you can, you'll buy Quinton isotonic, which is a mineral blend—so the blend of minerals and water in Quinton directly mimics our blood plasma, our interstitial fluid, or the water between the cells, and our cerebral spinal fluid. And so our body is really really uh resonates very well with Quinton isotonic to pull it in and to rehydrate our body; it's a very very profound way to start to pull both minerals and water into the bloodstream so that that drought management histamine release can start to shut down. So that's something you can do. There's also a way to transform solay water into isotonic water. So you can take your solay water and you can take one part solay and one part can be one teaspoon, one tablespoon, whatever your unit of measurement is—so you'll take one part solay and put it into a big jar, and then you'll take 19 parts of your filtered water, and that makes a concentration that's approximately the same as Quinton isotonic. And again, you're going to start to sip on that. I like to use it first thing in the morning, so clients typically love about 10 to 30 milliliters first thing in the morning, followed by um some regular filtered remineralized water, and then they also like to do it usually typically in the afternoon and sometimes even before bed—so another 10 milliliters in the afternoon, 10 milliliters before bed. And that really starts to reestablish a healthy hydration in their blood, in the fluid around the cells, and that ultimately leads to to reestablishing healthy hydration inside of the cells.

But in order to make this go faster, we actually do things to support mitochondrial water production. And so those are things I've already talked about in previous videos—from red light therapy to seasonal ketosis, those sorts of things really facilitate mitochondrial water production as well. So when we combine these things—when we combine appropriately appropriately hydrated by what we drink and the minerals we consume with the mitochondrial water production support strategies—and then you add on the fact that we're trying to maintain exclusion zone water, or that water inside of us, with sources of infrared throughout the winter, goes a long way to maintaining a healthy hydrated body all winter long and then lowering the inflammation cascades that get triggered by this histamine release that can lead to a big-time exacerbation of symptoms in the winter.

And so just to recap here, right? I don't want this to feel overwhelming, but you're—what a client typically does, and I do this myself, is drink about 10 to 30 milliliters of Quinton isotonic water or just their own isotonic water first thing in the morning, followed by a big glass—let's say 10 ounces or so—of purified, filtered, remineralized water; structure it if you would like. And then all throughout the day we're going to sip and consume all day long the equivalent of about two liters of water, give or take, depending on your activity level, your your body size, um, how dehydrating your environment is—meaning, do you work in a high non-native EMF environment? So all those things come into play, but you drink about the equivalent of two liters, give or take. And then maybe in the afternoon you also consume a little bit of the isotonic, 10 milliliters, and then in the evening as well you can consume a little bit of the isotonic, as 10 milliliters. And that combination right there really starts to rehydrate the blood, rehydrate the fluids in the body, shuts down the inflammatory cascade triggered by being in this chronic state of unintentional dehydration, and allows our body to start to feel like it has the energy it needs, the charge it needs, the hydration it needs to run all of its beautiful programs and start to feel like it's thriving again.
