But a few days ago, the Immigration Service announced that they will lift this suspension for most countries, for most individuals who have been granted asylum and have applied for a Green Card or citizenship. So, they will continue with the cases, schedule interviews, and complete the processing of the cases. Only for the countries on the travel ban list, which are 39 countries, including Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, or South Sudan, Mauritania. For these individuals, there is no suspension. But for other applications for Iraqis, Lebanese, Jordanians, whoever is not on the travel ban, Palestinians, it continues.

Yes. Let's start from the beginning. The American Constitution, the 14th Amendment, states that anyone born in the United States will be an American citizen, with American citizenship. Only individuals born to diplomats of other countries residing in the country, their children born while they were diplomats in the country, do not become American citizens. They are not given American citizenship. So, this constitution, and after the constitution, several times, including 120 years ago, there have been several cases talking about individuals residing in the United States, individuals who do not have American citizenship, or perhaps were in the country illegally, or perhaps only had a Green Card. Or there were cases about Native Americans, whether they have citizenship or not. So, laws have been in place for 250 years under the constitution regarding this matter. The Trump administration, a few months ago, said they want to end birthright citizenship for individuals who do not have status in the United States. They do not have status, meaning they are residing in the country illegally. If one of the parents has citizenship or a Green Card, they will be given citizenship. But if both do not have papers in the United States, they will not be given American citizenship. So, of course, cases started in the federal courts and reached the Supreme Court a while ago. The Supreme Court heard the case, the arguments, and during the arguments, it became clear that most of the justices will not support the President, will not support the Trump administration, and there is a very high probability that when they make a decision in June or July of this year, the decision will be against the government and in favor of those who filed the case, that anyone born in the United States should obtain American citizenship. So, this is what happened last week. Many of the judges, including well-known Republicans, conservative Republicans.
They usually vote for things that are in favor of Republicans, but this time we saw that their statements, their questions, were against the lawyer working for the government and in favor of the lawyer and birthright citizenship again, despite the presence of President Trump himself and his former Attorney General, Barr, who were present during the oral arguments. But as you mentioned, the judges, including the conservatives, were a bit hesitant and showed opposition to the Solicitor General, who is the US government's lawyer.
Honestly, I wish I could say it was a bit more conclusive. It was clear what the reasons were for their opposition. First, the problems that would arise from such a decision. It would affect not only individuals currently in the country illegally but also anyone who came 100 years ago illegally. Their children and grandchildren could be affected. Regarding individuals who entered the United States of America through the CBP One application, what is this application and what happened?
If you remember, Hussein, during the Biden administration, thousands, hundreds of thousands of people were coming through the Mexican border, and the government couldn't keep up. So, they created a program called CBP One, and the program is a mobile application, meaning an application on the phone. One can make an appointment through this application, make an appointment, complete the application, and get an appointment at the border. If they entered through this program, they would be allowed to stay and apply for their case and be given parole, meaning they would be given legal permission to stay in the country until a judge hears their case or they apply for asylum with the Immigration Service.

When the Trump administration entered, the first thing they did was cancel this program. And when they canceled this program, many people who were in the country under parole and had filed asylum cases started to be deported. They started deportation proceedings against them. So, a judge in a federal court ruled that the claims of these individuals are correct. The government canceled this program illegally and must restore the rights that these individuals obtained from this program. They must give them parole if they had parole, give them the opportunity to continue with their asylum applications, even if they had applications. And there was even a provision that the judge could say that those who were deported after this program ended must be returned. So, the talk is extraordinary, and there is a very high probability that the government will appeal this decision. So, I don't think they will implement this decision currently. There will be an appeal, a very high probability, and we will see later, after the appeal, how the higher courts will act on this matter.

So, now these cases have reached these stages after a year or so after the Trump administration entered. So, we will see these decisions happening more and more.
