We've got the first look at the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, on top of specs and even a benchmark. And it's probably not what you're expecting to see.
So, first up, before we get into the reveal, we know that the Galaxy S26 Edge is going to be running the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, thanks to a leaked benchmark that's already surfaced. And it scored a single-core score of 3,393 and then a multi-core score of 11,515. This is a nice increase over its predecessor, and it's good scores for such a thin device. And let's not forget this is an early benchmark, so scores are going to improve with further optimizations.
Now, when it comes to dimensions, Samsung have also trimmed down the S26 Edge even more than last year. And according to Leica Crow over on X, it's coming in at just 4.2 mm, which is a huge decrease in size. And it's comparable to the unfolded Z Fold 7. Although, this 4.2 mm dimension most likely does not include the camera bump. And if we include the camera bump, it's still 5.5 mm thick, the same as last year, but still most of the phone is ultra-slim.
Now, despite the S26 Edge being much thinner than last year, it's also coming with a larger battery capacity as well. It's already been confirmed in certification that it features a rated capacity of 4,078 mAh. And this means the normal capacity is probably going to be somewhere around 4,200. And again, it's a big step up from its predecessor's 3,900 mAh, and surprising given it's also a much slimmer device overall.
It's also a slightly different form factor from last year, with it being a tiny bit taller and wider than its predecessor, giving us an improved form factor, although it still remains a 6.7-inch display. It is, however, an improved display to last year. Not only is the peak brightness going to be jumping up to 3,000 nits, but we also get improvements to the anti-reflective coating, which was already very good last year. There's also going to be enhanced privacy that's going to use new technology to adjust this based on different apps. And it's going to be called Flex Magic Pixel. And basically, it's going to use AI to control individual OLED pixels. And it's going to restrict viewing angles when viewing private apps like banking, etc., but it's not going to affect your other apps like media that you do want better viewing angles for. And then finally, we get trimmed-down bezels, making this a beautiful full-screen display.
Now, the biggest change this year is that there's no Plus model in the series. And the S26 Edge is going to be launching alongside the rest of the lineup and replacing the Plus model. So, it's not going to be coming later on like we had with the S25 Edge. And all three are going to be launching in January 2026.
Now, next up, we've got the reveal of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, thanks to OnLeaks and Android Headlines, and they released some renders based on the CAD. And of course, I've used this information to create these renders here, including the ones in the hand, to give you guys a good look at exactly what we can expect from the S26 Edge.
Now, I know the comments are going to be full of people saying they've copied the iPhone, and to be fair, they kind of have, but there's a reason behind it, and that's to get a little bit more space internally while still keeping the phone slim. Now, I have to say right now, I'm not really a fan, but like everything, I think the design is going to grow on me over time. But let me know what you guys think down in the comments below.
It's also important to note that I've got no idea what colors they're going to be using, and these were simply just guesses for illustration. But as soon as we get some solid leaks, I'll update all of the renders. But overall, I think the Galaxy S26 Edge is looking like a great phone. It's premium with its ultra-slim design. We've got the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. We've even got a 200-megapixel primary camera. And of course, the only thing we lose out on to the Ultra is the extra cameras, the bigger battery, and the bigger display. But personally, I think this is going to be well-placed. And it's going to be a great choice for those of you that want a premium phone, but you don't want the huge size of the Ultra.
