[Music] Hi, it's Robin Chararma. Welcome to my hotel room here in New York City. I'm keeping it very informal and most importantly, I wanted to congratulate you on investing in your productivity unleashed.
We do live in the world of dramatic distraction. Um, if you look at the latest research, and in particular, there was an organization called Behance, and they studied uh a large number of creative professionals and entrepreneurs. And here's what they found: The average entrepreneur is working nine hours a day. That's the average workday for the average business person or entrepreneur. Three and a half of those hours are spent in distraction.
So this program, go through it because it's game-changing. I mean, if you look around, there are people spending the most valuable hours and days of their lives doing things that seem busy and important in the moment, but over time, they will recognize that was time purely lost. And if you look around at most people, what they're doing is they've got their iPhones, and they are checking their Facebook feed, and they're checking Twitter, and they're on Instagram, and they're doing it every few moments. More research says that every 11 minutes, we are distracted by ourselves checking some piece of technology or some program or some app.
So really, we're in a war. We're in a war against distraction. We're in a war against noise. And your productivity unleashed is a very valuable tool in your arsenal that will help you focus on the work that matters. So you get big things done, so you achieve your goals, and so you change the world through your creativity and your ingenuity and the great work that you're doing.
Five things I want to offer to you as a sort of a a quick start guide.
Number one, after each video, do one thing. Now, that might seem obvious, but half of winning, no, most of winning is beginning. So after you watch the video, make a start. There's great power in starting because when you start something, you are rewiring your brain for a new habit. Okay? So, as soon as you finish the video, do something. Just get on it. Start something right now, and then do it again the next day. Do it again the next day. Each day you do that, you're repatterning the your brain and creating a new way of being. So, you're building a new habit on that one thing that you're focusing on.
Number two, this is a game-changing idea that our clients have been raving about and getting tremendous results from. Once you get to work, structure it so that the first 90 minutes of your workday are spent doing the single most important thing that you have to do. So, uh, a lot of you are business people and entrepreneurs. I would encourage you, this is a game-changer. I say again, as you get to work, structure it so the first 90 minutes of your workday are spent only on a money-making activity or on an activity that will move the needle of your business or your career dramatically forward. How do you do that? Environments are important. So, structure your environment for the first 90 minutes of your workday so there's no distractions. Turn off your laptop. Turn off your iPhone. Turn off all notifications and sit there with dramatic focus and focus on that thing that's most important.
Number three, this is a paradoxical thing I want you to wrap your head around, but research is actually showing that sometimes, no, always, the most important thing you can do to be more productive is make some time every day to relax. Now, I want to get into some of the research. What they're finding is if you look at the Picassos and the Dainci's and the Richard Branson's and the Sergey Brins and the Tony Shayes and the great artists, all of these people had one thing in common: they institutionalized relaxation into their days. This is a game-changing idea again. So point number three is find some time every day to relax because what will happen is you will shift your mental focus or your your brain into alpha state. See, when you're dealing with busyness and administr, your brain is not relaxed and it's not in its most creative state. When you go for a walk. Actually, another research uh study showed that the number one place where we get our aha ideas is when we're walking. So, structure at least half an hour into your day to relax. I guess what I'm saying is sometimes the most productive thing you can do is get away from your da desk and go for a walk or relax, or when you get home, take a long shower. That's where you will get your game-changing ideas that will move your career and your life forward.
Uh, number four, keep a productivity journal. Science is also showing journalkeeping on a daily basis is a dramatically powerful way to be productive. Why? Because all too often, what we're doing is we face self-doubt. We face low motivation. When you keep a journal, what you can do every single night, ask yourself this question. Make it a ritual. Before you go to sleep, ask yourself, "What five things did I achieve today that move my goals forward?" In other words, what were my five daily wins? If you do that every single night, you're going to actually unleash a dramatic amount of energy and a dramatic amount of motivation that will sustain your productivity every single day. A lot of my events, people come up to me, Robin, I want to change the world. I'm inspired. How do I maintain it? Keep a journal. Record your little wins every single night. Do it every single day. You will sustain your jour your your your motivation, your productivity and your focus because those little acts of moving forward over time give you some massive results.
And then the final thing is remember that your number one asset is your focus and your secondary asset is your energy. So I want you, as you go through your productivity unleashed, to keep on reminding yourself that you want to be managing not only your time, you want to be managing your energy. And through the program, I talk about it and I share exactly what to do. But keep on asking yourself, how can I protect my energy? A simple tactic, get away from the noise. Spend time every single day in periods of unstimulation. You got to be away from your mobile. You got to turn off the TV. Turn off the notifications. Whatever happened to solitude, silence, and stillness? That's how you actually renew your brain. You renew your energy reserves. So you come back the next day on your best.
Okay. Again, congratulations for investing in your productivity unleashed. I know you're going to get lots of superb tactics and ideas that will help you move the needle forward, live your best life, and do work that truly matters.
