Never do these 10 things if you suddenly become rich. And number six is the one almost every new money person breaks first. Usually right before losing the money.
One. Tell no one. Not your friends, not your parents, not even the man you trust most.
Two. Pay every debt you have. Friends, banks, lenders, all of it. Start clean.
Three. Once the money lands, let it sit. Let your mind catch up to the number before your hands do.
Four. Do not buy a house. Do not move into a richer neighborhood. Not yet.
Five. Do not quit your job. Not on the first day, not in the first month.
Six. Do not buy a car. Do not buy a watch. Do not buy anything that announces.
Seven. Do not go into business with anyone you love. Not friends, not family.
Eight. If you have children, do everything you can to keep them from knowing. The day they learn it is the day their hunger dies.
Nine. Live the life you were living last week. Act as if nothing has changed.
10. Guard what you say. Money speaks loudest in the men who do not have to speak about it. The men who lose new money do not lose it because they were stupid. They lose it because they could not stay quiet long enough to keep it.
