I'm making a big push to switch over a lot of my work to waterfed pole. I've been a traditional window cleaner for quite a long time, for probably about 20 years since I started working part-time while I was at college. So, I've been working traditionally, building up my round. I've got to the situation basically where I've got work that's supposed to be done monthly. Monthly for me is about every four to five weeks.
So for the last year, actually probably two years, I've been trying out waterfed pole using the hydro power hydro power. I mainly started using that for conservatory roofs, fasc. But I really liked it and the more I've used it, I've started using it on some window cleaning jobs as well. Trying it out on my customers, seeing how it what the response is, seeing how it goes down with my customers. and that's been really good.
So, I wanted to update my van. I've gone for a bigger van to accommodate my business and my equipment. And so, I'm making that push now to switch everything over to waterfed pole. So, I wanted to make that part of the transition if you see what I mean. So, that new van, new approach, and I want to give the impression that I'm not trying to take a shortcut with customers, but in actual fact, I'm providing a better service and maintaining that good quality service.
So, a couple of things that I'm doing. I've written a little note and I've had it printed out. A little letterheaded note to my customers which basically just says that I'm now using pure water to clean their windows and that lots of window cleaners have been using this method and I've been trying it out and I've been really impressed with the results. I think it's got a really high standard. It also says on here that I can access windows that may not have previously been able to clean like over the conservatory or uh skylights. This note also explains that the window will be left wet but will dry to leave a spotless shine. Okay.
Now, I'm also directing people to my website and on my website there is a video of me explaining how pure water window cleaning works. So, I'm hoping that customers will go to my website and maybe that will generate a little bit of interest in some of my other services as well. So, if someone goes to my website, they can see um the other things that I offer that they might not realize. And I'm hoping that will generate some more interaction with my other social media as well. So, going to be giving those out to all my customers just to explain the transition.
I've also my invoices I've had printed on thicker paper. So when someone gets an invoice through the door, it's like, "Oh, this is this is good quality sort of thing." So all these little things I'm hoping are going to add up to uh an overall impression that I'm providing a quality service and that, you know, I'm maintaining that quality service.
So um there's a few other things. What I'm hoping to achieve with the new van and the new pure water system is I'm also hoping to maybe pick up some more commercial work because I know that just having the van and just having the pure water system isn't automatically going to result in uh my business growing isn't automatically going to result in me picking up more commercial work. So, I realized that I've got to make some effort to try and um let people out there know that I've got that capability now and that um that's a service that I'm able to offer.
So, now I had some commercial customers I did last year, some quotes that I made and I had some jobs that I did kind of um maybe within the last 6 months that haven't got back to me just yet. So, I'm going to be getting in touch with some of those by email and just explain that I've got um a sophisticated pure water system and I'll be able to accommodate their needs or their requirements. See if I can generate some more commercial work. We'll see how I get on anyway. And um hope there's some ideas that might help you help you as well.
