Hi, it's Robin Sharma, and this is a Morning Mastery meditation on turning failure into fuel and leveraging adversity into opportunity.
As I record this meditation for you, it's a rainy morning in Rome, and there's a magic in the air. And my thoughts are very much around you, and around your instinct for heroism, and around you making each morning a platform for possibility. As you hardwire in the 202020 formula as a lifetime habit, and as you use the rest of the day to express your primal genius, your gifts, and your talents, to handcraft a life you love, not only for yourself and your loved ones, but in service of a better world.
So, I'd like you to close your eyes, please. And I'd like you to start breathing in through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Breathe in through your nose, exhale through your mouth. Breathe in peace, courage, rage, possibility. Release fear, insecurity, and any pain you might be carrying. Keep on breathing in. Keep on releasing all that does not serve you.
I'm actually going to open the door of my apartment, and hopefully, hopefully, you'll be able to hear the Roman rain in real time while you keep on breathing in and releasing all that doesn't serve you. Breathe in strength, release confusion. Breathe in heroism, breathe out victimhood. And I just want you to listen to the raindrops and the thunder as you breathe in your bravery and release any scarcity. And do this for a few moments, imagining yourself here in Rome, the land of warriors and heroes and empire builders.
I want you to now feel a heaviness and a relaxation in your feet. Your feet are feeling heavier and heavier. You're still breathing in deeply, exhaling any tension, stress, and worry. The heaviness moves up your legs into your thighs. You feel all the muscles in your legs just relaxing. You feel a tranquility and a serenity moving throughout you as this heaviness moves up through your midsection. If you're going through difficulty, you're starting to let go of the fear around it. You're beginning to embrace any discomfort, understanding that pain comes to purify, and adversity is life's greatest teacher. We become heroes not by the things that happen to us that are easy. We grow in grace, understanding, forgiveness, bigness, courage, creativity, and service to humanity during those times in the valley of darkness. We bump up against our limiting beliefs, and ancient pains and wounds get activated. The victim closes down, the victim blames, the victim shrinks, the victim stays stuck in the past. The hero continues at all costs and takes the fear and turns it into fuel for greater expansion of their personal talents and strengths.
Breathe in bravery, release all insecurity. Breathe in faith in your brilliant future, release all from the past that no longer serves your ascent to world class. The heaviness now moves through your abdominal muscles, up into your chest, down your arms. Your fingers feel very heavy. You notice your shoulders begin to feel very relaxed. The muscles in your neck are easing, and any tension you were carrying in your neck, you let it go. The heaviness and sense of relaxation moves up through your head. Your jaws relax, and any stress your jaw was carrying just relaxes. Your eyeballs feel heavy. Any worry lines on your forehead melt away.
Imagine a volume knob that represents your sense of relaxation. I want you to turn it higher and higher and higher. It goes well past 10 as you become even more relaxed. Breathe even more deeply. Feel even more safe in the world. Feel even closer to your gifts and talents and natural power. Any problems in your life now have a sense of perspective for you. I want you to reflect on all the blessings in your life. The Persian proverb says, "I curse the fact I had no shoes until I saw the man who had no feet." If you have a roof over your head and food in your belly, you're a blessed human being. Think about the people who love you. See their faces. Think about the victories you've achieved in the past. How you've overcome adversity in the past. How you are stronger than you know. You've navigated difficulty before. You're going to do even better now. You see problems are preparation, and you are being made by life into the hero and leader and human being that you're destined to be. Growth comes through challenge, not during times in the sunshine.
Stand in high gratitude for the blessings in your life right now. Think about the littlest blessings, simple joys that are easy to take for granted. I want you to envision those right now, one by one, silently giving thanks for each of them. I'll give you a minute to do that, and then I'll return to this Morning Mastery meditation around turning fear into fuel and any adversity into glorious opportunity.
If you look at the great heroes of humanity, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Albert Einstein, Madame Curie, all of the great scientists, all of the great humanitarians, all of the great servant leaders, all of the great creatives, all of the epic productivity, they all understood that what makes greatness is how you respond during times of difficulty, not during times of ease.
And so, as you breathe in strength, courage, faith, grit, toughness, possibility, understanding, forgiveness, relentlessness, and as you release fear, loneliness, apathy, contraction, insecurity, confusion, self-pity, I want you to see yourself filling with light. A little white ball of white light grows within your heart, starts to expand, and this white light that is expanding and radiating throughout your core is showcasing and putting a spotlight on the things that make you special, on your strengths, on your primal genius, on your true talents. I don't want I want you to just see this light lighting you up. I want you to feel your gifts and talents being showcased. I want you to build the relationship with your greatest self. I want you to feel your heroism getting larger in this moment.
On this very special morning, I want you to connect with a sense of knowing that the hours ahead during this day may not always be easy, but they will be precious teachers, and they are meant to be. And that nothing is wrong, and that a bad day for the ego is a great day for the soul, and all is good and unfolding as it should. Life wants you to win, and nature always has your back.
This white light gets larger and is filling your entire body, and then it moves out into the room that you're in, filling up the room with light and beauty and safety and peacefulness. This brilliant white light and luminosity fills the street outside of where you're at, and then radiates into your entire city, lifting up every citizen into their glory, audacity, strength, the midst adversity, and primal heroism. This light quickens and gets even brighter, and it fills up the country in which you live, raising all human beings in the nation, growing love, honor, grace, forgiveness, mastery, and love for humanity. The light continues to get even brighter, and it fills the entire continent that you inhabit, raising the strength and belief and power and commitment towards world class of everyone on the entire continent. The light gets even brighter and expands across our entire planet, helping everyone in its path, building fluency and intimacy with the genius that inhabits every single one of our hearts.
You're feeling strong. You're feeling certain. You're feeling alive. You're feeling brave. You're feeling creative. You're feeling productive. You're feeling healthy. You're committed to mastery, and you stand for love and the noble virtues that make every man and woman who has elevated history great. You're beginning to understand as never before that here heroes grow in the rainstorms of life, and life is a series of seasons. We all experience our winters, and we all have time in the sunshine of summers. And what makes us noble human beings is who we become during the trials of life.
You notice there's a small smile forming on your face. You're realizing everything is unfolding as it should, and you're feeling self-faith and high confidence in your ability to navigate any form of adversity and mold it into gorgeous opportunity.
I want you to wiggle your toes, please. Wiggle your fingers. Gently open your eyes. And as a member of the 5:00 AM Club, I want you to go out into the world today and create your own unique form of leadership magic and personal heroism. I send you all green lights and lots of love.
