they became their mothers.. until one day, they didn’t.

These Men Ain’t Shit™1:28

Transcription

If you're a Gen X woman who swore you'd never be your mother and then one day caught yourself doing exactly what she did, this one's for you.

Gen X women didn't just carry the trauma. They inhaled it. They were raised in silence by mothers who didn't say "I love you" or "I'm proud of you." Who loved through control. And Gen X said, "Never me, never my kids."

But trauma doesn't ask. It slips through in tone, through slammed cabinets, through shut doors, through tired hands that start repeating what they swore they'd never become. And then it happens. They become her.

But here's the part that no one clapped for. They didn't stay there. They softened. They apologized. They got in therapy. They learned how to say what they never heard: "I love you." "I'm proud of you." "I'm sorry." They didn't announce it. They just did it quietly, painfully. And that silence, this time, it was healing.

They became their mothers. And then they chose not to be. No applause, no spotlight, just truth. Because these men ain't... But Gen X women, they broke in silence and still found a way to break the cycle.
