What's up, guys? It's Benny. What will go down as the single dumbest business decision in the history of television or entertainment or movies was the firing of Gina Corano on the Mandalorian. Not only was she a wildly popular character with a built-in fan base that humanized the series, but also they fired her because of her political views and said that you're not allowed to be a political activist here. Of course, Gina Corano did nothing wrong in what she posted and what she posted was correct and she was making a good point.
But anyway, that all that aside, they still employ Pedro Pascal who called all of MAGA Nazis and Mark Hamill who is mentally ill and has the worst type of Trump derangement syndrome. And so the fact that Mark Hamill and Peter Pascal can go out and do this and Gina Corano has her career destroyed and then gets blacklisted for doing the same thing or much less I would argue well that would lead to a lawsuit and that did lead to a lawsuit and now that lawsuit has been settled.

Lucas Film and the Walt Disney Company have reached a mutual agreement in their legal dispute with Gina Corano following her firing from The Mandalorian. A Lucasfilm spokesperson has said in a statement provided to Variety, "The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement." Kaching. I mean, just a massive pile of cash with Gina Corano to resolve the issues of her pending lawsuit against the companies.
Now, Disney was over a barrel with this because she was able to get the judges inside of a very deep, very dark blue Los Angeles district that always rules in favor of Disney. It's called the bank. Actually, this courthouse is famous because it's called the bank. When Disney wants to bring a lawsuit against somebody, they bring it in the specific district to the specific court in order to get maximum penalty and maximum punishment. So anyway, Disney had everything going in their favor and that court ruled against Disney in a motion for discovery.
What that means is that the court is saying, "No, no, no. You got an actual literal real lawsuit here in Disney. You're going to have to now give up all of your internal documents, all of your text messages, all your emails, everything you've ever said about her, everything you ever said about anyone at Marvel or The Mandalorian or anyone in Star Wars, all Kathleen Kennedy's emails. Oh my gosh." So, it was like Defcon 9. Disney had no choice but to settle at that point.
Um, let's continue the statement. Miss Corano was always well respected with her directors, co-stars, and staff. Oh, interesting. Wasn't it Disney that released a statement the exact opposite that everyone hated Gina Corano, which is a lie, by the way. She's a real sweetheart. We were able to meet her and hang out with her. She's awesome. With the lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Miss Corano in the near future. So, will she be making an appearance in the Mandalorian movie?
Corona was fired from the Mandalorian in 2021 after sharing controversial social media post. No, they were just like posts about anti-tyranny during co. She was also dropped from as a client by UTA. There's a big time agency in Hollywood. In 2024, Corano filed suit in California federal court wrongful termination and discrimination as well as a demand that the court should force Lucasfilm to recast her and pay her punitive damages of $75,000.
Disney's lawyers filed a motion to throw out the lawsuit arguing that the first amendment had a right to fire the actor stating the constitutional association with artistic expression. Corona fired back a post on X writing Disney has confirmed what has been known all along. They will fire you if you say anything they disagree with. But even if they have the right to misrepresent, malign, and mischaracterize you, they are now on the record letting everybody know who works for them that Disney will take any chance they get to control what you say and will attempt to destroy your career. Glad we cleared that up. The first amendment does not allow Disney to wantonly discriminate, which is what they have done in my case. And frankly, they have admitted they did it. These are the Disney values.
Corona's lawsuit was funded by Elon Musk based and owner of X as well as the CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX. Musk declared in 2023 that he would pay the legal bills of people who had been fired for post on social media. Coronado has not officially responded to the settlement but wrote on X, "The truth shall set you free." There's that post.
