There's Lake Nona High, there's Windermere High, you know, usually, usually Olympia too. Dr. Phillips. >> Dr. Phillips. >> Usually, it's around the high schools, but we have been doing this, uh, mission for like over a year now, I'm pretty sure. We have been, um, proclaiming the word of God to the students and stuff. And it's so amazing how God can work. What do you think about that, Catherine?
>> Um, I really love the Commission movement and just evangelism in general. I think it's so beautiful, and it's a way that we can impact everyone and reach everyone. And even in schools nowadays, because I feel like we're a generation that, me personally, I'm starving for God. I'm hungry. I'm hungry to know more of Him, and every day dive more into His word. And I feel like sometimes we, in our generation, we need to be there to help each other out. And that's one thing that I love so much about Commission. I'm no longer in high school, unfortunately. But I think it's always so beautiful, and you never know. So, basically, what Commission does, I, I don't know if you guys still do this, but when I did it, it would be little notes, and they would have like a bunch of different motivational things, and then it would have a little candy on it, which I think is super sweet. It's a good approach. I don't know if you guys, is that how you still do it?
>> What we did this week, I think I have some in my pocket right now.

>> We gave around these little guys.

>> Yeah.

>> I just always think the Commission thing is just such a beautiful thing. The movement itself, and we're always doing.

>> We gave around these little mini Jesus to people preaching the word of God. It says here on his ribbon that Jesus loves you.
>> So the people are watching, Jesus loves you.
>> Jesus does love you. And again, I think it's such a beautiful movement because something so innocent, you never know the impact that it can have on someone's day. I remember my senior year, um, I saw that my teacher actually had one of the Commission slips, >> from our, like, our church, 'cause a lot of different churches do do it as well. And I was like, "Oh my god, who gave you that?" And she was like, "Oh, it was this girl." And I was having such a bad day that day, and that note helped me so much to always remember that He is with me. And I was like, "That's so beautiful." And I just love the impact as well. And again, it talks about talking back to the community aspect of it all. We're always impacting, and we're always serving. And I think that's one of the biggest things about Lagua and what, and what we stand for as well. We're always out here volunteering. We have so many different volunteering opportunities. If you are an Orlando local and you still haven't been to our church, you are more than welcome to come. We are in a very Americanized location. You can always come in and be like, "Hey, I'm ready to serve." They will have a place for you. Do not fear. We have a place for you to serve. If it's media, if it's being an usher, if it's worship, we have so many different things that you're able to do here.
>> And I just always think it's so beautiful. I've been serving since I, I've been 13 years old. So, yeah. So, it's been, it's been a while, guys. It's been a very long time.
>> Yeah. So.
>> And I al also like to add on, literally anything that you're good at, I can guarantee you church has a way to make that, like, so you can serve. If you're good at, I don't know, keeping things organized, God's, there's a place for you. If you're good at cleaning stuff up, there's a place for you.
>> I think it's like harder to find something that the church doesn't have for you than than it if it does. You know what I mean?
>> A thousand percent.
>> So, if you have something to give to the Lord, if you have something, come to us. You know.
>> We are more than able to help you guys. We're more than able to help you guys. And your worship and your service, the L, the Lord will see that. Then the Lord will reward it. The Lord knows your heart. But I just always think it's so beautiful. And one thing that I do want to get into talking about the impacts that we make on people and how we can feed our generation, that hunger and that love that we have for Christ, is our small groups.
>> Yes, our small groups can are around church. We are around all, almost all of Orlando. What are small groups, you may be asking? Small groups is, well, quite literally small groups that we, uh, organize in other people's houses. We talk about God. We have this word or daily word where we usually follow our agenda, which you can buy at our bookstore currently. Uh, very cheap. So worth it. There's like a, uh, a word for every single day of the year.
>> Every day of the week, you got something to meditate on.
>> Exactly. Uh, me personally, I have my own small group. It is a Rocket small group. It's called Rocket Crimson, translating it to English. Uh, Rocket Crimson. We are currently growing. And the whole point of a small group is that you grow together as a group. Not necessarily there's a pastor there or one person you follow, but of course, there's a leader, co-leaders, a worship session maybe, or in a word session. It's supposed to be simple. It's supposed to be small because God also works in simplicity. God also works in small.
>> And what's important is that there's two or more people gathered, because if there is, the Lord is there.
>> Amen.
>> We have small groups all over, all over Orlando. Not just Orlando, but also in Brazil, also in all the parts of the world, all over the United States of America.
>> Everywhere. So, if you need a small group, if you maybe can't attend, uh, all their services every single day, if you maybe have, I don't know, maybe you're busy during the Sundays, we have a small group for you. 100%. Like I said before, for the volunteer thing, it's harder for you not to find one.
>> There's a small group for volunteers. It's just always so beautiful.
>> We also. And there's also so many different, uh, GECs, which is what we call them, the small groups for each ministry that we have, because we have our Rocket ministries, which are for the teenagers that are from 13 to 18. And then when you, once you cross that over for the 19, you have your Legacy, which is for the younger adults, because each of them touches on a different topic and a different intimacy, which I also think is really nice, getting two different perspectives from both Rocket.
>> Yeah.
>> And Legacy and other GECs and different leaders, you're always learning something new. So it's never like, "Oh, I don't want to go because, like, I don't like the word." It's different.
>> It's too loud.
>> Good is different. Different is good.
>> Yeah. And you can also invite your friends, you know. It's such a cool place to hang out. There's like food usually after.
>> Exactly. Like.
>> It's a vibe. It's fun. There's also, uh, also we're opening up in like a new, >> um, GC. It's for Linkers. Linkers are for.
>> Can you talk about Link a little bit, actually?
>> Uh, Link is a little place that we have literally right over there every single Sunday. It's basically the connection of kids, our kids' service and Rocket, where we prepare kids, uh, that are pre-teens into what Rocket is like, into living a ministry with Christ is like, into what living a ministry with, uh, following Jesus's commandments and stuff. Link is literally, we're linking kids to Rocket, and it's for 11, 12, and 13 year olds who are just starting to, uh, understand who God is. We're just starting to understand what God has for them. And recently, we've been open up, uh, GECs, or small groups of Link around Orlando. It's something that's quite fairly new, but has been working out. So, if you that are watching have a pre, uh, pre-teen or someone that is 11, 12, or 13 years old, and they don't really like the service, they find it kind of boring, come to Link.
>> We got a place for you.
>> It's crazy. We talk about crazy stuff there.
>> It's insane. I love it.
>> Super fun. We have, >> the atmosphere of Link as well, because you're having your own little service. I also think also I want to invite you to come to our church because now you truly don't have an excuse because we have a kids' ministry going from little babies to where you can watch them all the way to 13. So if your pre-teen does not want to sit inside a service, we have a mini service for them that's going to impact them on a specific way, specifically molded for the mind of a pre-teen because.
>> Pre-teens are difficult, man.
>> No, they're hard.
>> Pre-teen, pre-teens are hard, but they're fun. They're fun. I like to serve sometimes at Link. They are great people.
>> They are great people. But I want to invite you to our church. We have everything that you could possibly imagine. There are no excuses. If you are coming to Florida, you're coming to Orlando, we do have a place for you. And our services is going to start a little soon, but I just want to kind of finish everything. And I just always think it's so cool. Our church is really cool, guys.

Mondays, we don't have anything as of currently, but we have GECs on Mondays. So there you go. You can go to your GC on Tuesday. We have two different service times available for our Kutú Hope, which is literally service about hope, giving you faith. How do you prepare for that? And they have these, what would you call them?

>> Yeah. Like they have these little pamphlets that you can do a little, like a.

>> A prayer session.
>> It's literally building testimonies for your future.
>> Yeah. There's a testimony every hope, and it's always so beautiful to see. We have two different services available. I'm pretty sure it's 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

And I have witnessed and I can tell you that while we worship, while we praise His name, things start to happen. When we start worshiping the name of Jesus, the heavens start to respond to what we do here. So in this moment right now, I want to invite you to close your eyes wherever you are right now and put your heart of worship on and let's start worshiping the name of Jesus. We live in a time where the church can no longer stay quiet about what's going on around us. We live in a time where if you stay quiet, we get eaten by the crowds. We live in a time where if you stay seated instead of standing up for what you believe, things will shift around you and you'll be taken away with the waters that will surround you. So right now, this morning, I want to stand up not just as a voice, not just as somebody who goes to church every Sunday. I want to stand up as a representative of the kingdom of God. I want to stand up as somebody who wants to see a difference in my community. I want to stand up as somebody who wants to see a difference in this country, all over the world. The world is messy out there. I know that things are happening that they're out of our control. But you know who didn't lose control yet? Our God. He still reigns. He's still seated on the throne. And He's about to shift things around. He's about to change the situation you're into. And all you and me got to do is lift up our hands and call upon the name of Jesus and say, "Revive this city right now, Jesus. Transform the atmosphere. Change the situation we're into. We know You can do it. We know You're powerful. We know You're in control. We know You're the God Almighty. We know that when You get into a battle, You don't lose it. We know that even before You get in, You already have the victory. So why should we fear? Why should we back away? We know that the victory is ours in the name of Jesus. And that's why we sing. That's why we worship because we know the God we serve. So right now, lift up your hands and let's see the darkest night. The darkest night, You God of revival, is over. You are anyway. I'm awaken to see. Oh, God of revival, say every stronghold. I hear the chains hit the ground. Oh, God of revival. Can you see, Lord Jesus, pour it out on us? Lord, we say we are here to receive. We know it's not coincidence that You woke us up this morning. We know it's not coincidence that You put breath in our lungs. And Lord, I just feel that there were so many obstacles this morning. Whether it was the cold, whether it was some attitudes, whether it was some perspectives that prevented us from being here. But Lord, Your word says where there are two or more gathered in My name, there You are there. And we say thank You because You are here. And we feel You. And we say thank You. We say Thank You. And Lord, the, the burdens of Your people this morning are heavy. Your word says that Your mercies are new every day and that we can come into Your house and renew our joy every single day. And God, I'm reminded of the passage in 2 Corinthians where Paul is talking about the thorn in his flesh. And he says, "I asked You to take it away three times, but You said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.'" And Lord, we say we are weak. We are weak. We are sinful. We are imperfect. We are flawed. We make mistakes every day. But we know that our weakness is an opportunity for Your power. It's an opportunity for You to show breakthrough in our lives. It's an opportunity for You to come in and do miracles because You still do the impossible today. You're healing today. You're bringing breakthrough today. You're breaking addiction today. You're bringing restoration today. Your peace is coming today. And we say, Lord, we are available. We are weak, but You are strong. And we boast in Your strength, Lord. Because our weakness is an opportunity for You to shine through us, God. And we say, Lord, renew our strength today. Renew our joy today as we are putting on the armor of God. Give us resilience for the battle, Lord. Give us the breastplate of righteousness. Give us the belt of truth with the weapon of Your word. Give us the sword of the Spirit and fit our feet with the gospel of truth. Lord, as we are taking steps forward in our hands, God, bless our steps. Go before us. Bless our feet. We want to be in alignment with You, God, and what You are doing. And we say we give this time to You. We give this season to You. We seal it and decree it in Jesus' name. Amen. Revival. Let's do it one more time. Come on. Oh, God of revival, say, "Come awaken Your people. Come awaken Your people. Come awaken Your city." Oh, God of revival, pour it out. Pour it out. Every stronghold. I hear the chains in the ground. Oh, my. You bring death. You are. God of revival, of revival. Come on, give it up for Jesus. Hallelujah. You can be seated. Thank you. Come on. If you're grateful to be in the house of God, put your hands together one more time to give God praise. That's right. Are you glad to be here today? Yes. Tell the person next to you, "You are in the right place, the right time. Let them know with the right people. Let them know by the end of the service, your cup will overflow." Are you glad to be here today? It's kind of cold outside. Is this Florida? Were we transported somewhere else? No idea, but the presence of God is in this room. And we are grateful to be here. And we're going to take this time to give it back to Him with gratitude and thanksgiving. And I want to meditate with you quickly on this passage that the Apostle Paul, he wrote to the church of Philippi. And it's his words are very famous, and he, he tells the church that all of your needs will be supplied according to God's riches and glory. All of your needs. One person with needs here? Amen. All of your needs will be supplied. Not, not according to your bank account, not according to your influence, the people that you know, your connections, your networking, your job, your efforts, but God will supply all of your needs according to His riches and His glory. Let me give you some good news. His riches and glory never run dry. Never run dry. He has abundant and enough to supply all of your needs. A very important thing to know in this passage is that he's telling the people of this church that had sacrificially given everything to supply the ministry of the Apostle Paul. So let me explain to you. There were a group of people. They were sacrificing to supply the Apostle Paul's needs. So then the Apostle Paul writes, "God will supply your need because you are supplying my need." That changes a lot because he's not saying God will give you whatever you want, whatever you desire when you're stingy and you don't want to give and you're retained. You know, God is saying because you are supplying someone else's need, it's God's job to now supply your need. Because God's provision comes whenever you are willing to provide to somebody else, because that's the heart of God. He is a generous God. He gives and He gives freely. So whenever He sees somebody down here that is willing to supply somebody else's needs, He is willing to supply your needs. So, basically, to make it simple for you, the way to access God's provision is supplying somebody else's needs. Yeah. So every time you come to church and you give and you are trusting the word and the mission and what we are building here, you are supplying other people's needs. And when God sees that we come to this place of generosity, because of people in Philippi, it's not that they had too much. No, they had a lot of heart to sacrifice and give it to the Apostle Paul. So whenever we come into a room like this and we take this moment to give and surrender and give it back to God, God sees and God watches and He comes into the scene and He says, "Now I'm going to supply your need because you're supplying My house. You're supplying My people. You're giving a portion of what you have. So now I'm going to give you a portion of what I have." So, I don't know about you, but 2026, I want to have access to God's provision. Yeah. I want to have access to God's supply according to His riches and His glory. And the way to step into this provision is by giving. That's why the Bible says, "The one that retains will find poverty, but the one who gives freely will find riches." So, we're going to supply. We are going to give. We're going to surrender. And God will supply all of our needs according to His riches and His glory. So, I'm going to pray for you right now. I'm going to pray for your finances. I'm going to pray for your job, your work, your business, your company, your career, the provision over your home, your house, your family, and God will supply. I want you to make a decision today what you're going to give. And whatever you decide to give, give with gratitude and happiness and thanks. God, I want to bless each person, each family that came to this room today. We understand that it is by supplying someone else's needs that we have access to Your provision, to Your supply. We understand that You provide from a place of abundance and You never run dry. So, I just want to declare that every single one in this room as they give, they're going to find provision. As they give, You're going to supply their needs. I pray that their mortgage will be paid, their rent will be paid, their bills will be paid. I pray that You're going to give ideas. You're going to give new contracts. Sales are going to happen. You're going to give strategies. You're going to establish divine connections. You're going to open doors and bring provision beyond anything they can pray or ask for. I ask God that You bring us into this place, that we trust You, that we are bold enough to give it back to You, knowing that You are going to supply all of our needs. I declare in Jesus' name, this month, today is the first day of this month, I declare that the next few weeks, God, You're going to overwhelm Your people with Your provision. You're going to overwhelm Your people with Your love and abundance. And You're going to surpass every single expectation. And You're going to do beyond every single prayer in this room. God, I pray for deliverance. I declare the doors are going to be open. I declare the favor of God will overflow and You are going to show up in faithfulness and You are going to display Your love through every single door of provision that You're going to open for them. I declare that they're going to overflow and as You multiply, they will supply all their people's needs. As You overflow, they will be a provision to other people through Your house. And we will never retain whatever is Yours. But we will trust that as we give, You overwhelm us, God, giving back a good, a portion of good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. I open up my heart to You. I'm sorry when I've come with my agenda. I'm sorry when I forgot You are enough. Take me back to where we started. I open up my heart to You. I'm caught up in Your presence. I just want to sit here at Your feet. I'm caught up in this holy moment and I never want to leave. No, I'm not here for blessings. Jesus, You don't owe me. More than anything that You can do, I just want You. I just want You. Nothing else. Nothing else. Nothing else will do. I just. Nothing else. Nothing else. Nothing else to do. I just want You to do nothing else. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Nothing else. Nothing else. I just. I just want You. I just want You. Heat. Heat. Father, we trust You. Nothing in this world will do, but Jesus, everything's about You. It's always been about You. We trust You now, Father. Jesus, we come to worship You today. Lift Your hands in this atmosphere. We lift our hands as a sign of surrender. You're surrendering your plans. You're surrendering your calendar. You're surrendering your ideas. You're surrendering your struggle. You're surrendering your pain to Him right now. We know that You meet us in this place, but You don't leave us in the place that we are right now. We pray that every person under the sound of my voice in this room and all of those who are tuning in, whether it's today, next week, or next year, that You will speak through Your word, God. Get a hold of their heart, get a hold of their mind, get a hold of their family, get a hold of their kids, get a hold of their business, and do what only You can do. Nothing else matters. Say it out loud right now. Say, "Nothing else matters." Speak it with your own lips. Say, "Jesus, we worship You." So we open our hearts right now. We open our minds. You have a fresh word for us. A fresh touch from heaven today. A fresh encounter with Your Father. Oh Lord, we lift our voices to You. We lift our praises to You. Nothing else matters. Jesus. Oh, we worship You, Jesus. To worship You. I worship You. To worship You. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Come on. Any worshippers in the house? Did you come ready to worship Him today? Oh, let's lift our praises to Him. Thank You, Jesus. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Let's put our hands together and thank God that we get to be amongst His people. Why don't you give out three hugs right now and say, "It's good to be in God's house." Hug at least three people. Overachievers, you can hug more than three. I know you want to. These are the real people who love Jesus in the house today. You could have stayed at home in your cozy bed. People acting like it's snowing in Florida. Can't come out the door and make it to church. But you did. Put your hands together. Say, "I made it." Say, "God, I'm here. God, I'm ready." You didn't get snowed in today. We're in Orlando. It's a little bit chilly, but you could get out the, get out the door and put your wintry coat on. I've been looking for a reason to wear this all year. Anyways, my Old Navy jacket that I picked up in a city because it was too cold and I forgot to bring a jacket, but it's good to see you. Hit your neighbor and say, "It's good to see you." It's good to see all the people online, too. We're just making. We're just playing. We're just playing. But we do wish you were here in Jesus' name. I hope you're enjoying your fireplace and your blankets and your cozy socks and. But there's just something powerful about getting in the atmosphere of God, getting around the people of God, even when you don't have faith, getting around others who have faith that you can, you can be inspired by. And I believe that that God's going to honor your presence here today, that God has something He wants to speak into. My name's Dustin. I'm one of the pastors here. It's good to see you if I haven't met you yet. Any first-time guests in the house? I saw a few of you out today. Praise God for you. Hallelujah. Come on, first-time guests, put your hands together. Celebrate them. You guys are a little sleepy today. That cold should have woke you up. You didn't need a cold plunge today. You just walk outside and it's a, got hit with it. Jesus' name. That's what God's going to do to you today. Just, woo. It's going to hit you right where you need it the most. Even in the places you least expect. It is already February. We already, you, you made it. You, you still have breath in your lungs. You navigated January. New Year's resolutions still going strong. Anyone? No. Already. I get it. It happens quick. But we've, we've been on a journey this year already growing closer to Jesus. Pastor Andre, our global pastor, he brought us back to the center of what this has all been about from the beginning. It has always been about Jesus. It'll always be about Jesus. That's how we started the year, and that's how we're going to finish the year is focusing on the name of Jesus. The name above all names. There is no other name. Jesus stands above them all. Then we went on a journey in the book of Acts, and we saw a miracle take place between a man sitting at the temple gate called Beautiful. He had an encounter with God through the name of Jesus. Peter and John were going about their routine because there is power in your routine. When you find reward in your routine, not your result. It's so easy to be focused on results as you step into a new year. But when you find peace in the process, the destination is not the goal. The journey is the destination. It's growing closer to Jesus as you are continuing along the way. And last week, we learned how to get your edge back. Woo! Anybody getting your edge back this year? Getting your confidence back this year? Getting your wisdom back this year? Getting your anointing back in 2026? How to get your edge back? Jesus showed us through prayer and fasting that God can bring breakthrough into your life. I don't care if there is a hundred people here, 10 people here, a thousand people here. God is going to speak to you today. And I'm going to yell with everything I got because He put something in me that I'm ready to get to you. Oh, I feel it already. And now we're going to go to somebody I, I love in the Bible. Someone I've related to ever since I first read about him. Anybody watch The Chosen, by the way? Been watching The Chosen. We started watching that recently. So good. The same person I read about in the Bible that I relate to in this passage is the same person I see in the movie. I say, "Yep, I get it. That's me." So, we're going to go to Luke 5. Everybody say, Luke 5. If you have your Bible, you can pull it out. If not, we're going to pull it up on the screen for you. I encourage you to bring your Bible. It is the only book that you don't just read, but it can read you. It is the only book that is alive and active. And when you get into the word of God, it can get into you. And it can do something in you that no other book can. Luke 5. One day. Exactly like Acts 3 started a few weeks ago. One day. This doesn't have to be just another day. This can be your one day. This can be the day that God gets a hold of you. This can be the day that God gives you the exact thing you've been looking for. One day, Jesus was standing. You guys need me to calm down? You need me to lower the energy a bit? Okay. One day, one day as Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around Him and listening to the word of God. Because when the word of God is preached, people can't help but crowd around and listen. That's why so many of you have been bringing first-time guests to church. That's why our, our church, both English, Portuguese, we've seen so many new people showing up this year because when the word of God is preached, when Jesus is present, you can't help but crowd around because you want to see what He can speak into your life. One day, as Jesus was standing by the lake, He was preaching the word of God and He saw at the water's edge. Oh, it's time to get your edge back. He saw at the water's edge. You are on the edge of breakthrough. You may be one conversation away from your miracle, one prayer away from your blessing, one fast away from getting your confidence back, one text message away from God unlocking something in your life. He saw on the water's edge two boats left there by the fishermen who were washing their nets. They were washing their nets because they had fished all night. They had caught nothing. So, they were ready to go home. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, also known as Peter, one of my favorites in the Bible, Peter. And He asked him to put out a little out from the shore. For then He sat down and taught people from the boat. When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into deep water and let down the net for a catch." And I want to pause right there for a moment so you can give your neighbor the title of this message, the power of a yes. That means turn to your neighbor. Say, "The power." Say it with power. Say, "The power of yes." All right, let's put our hands out like this. God, speak to us. We're present. We know that You're always present. We're ready to receive. Say it with your own voice. Say, "I'm ready to receive, Lord. I'm here now." God, we fix our focus on You and we love You. It's in Jesus' name, everybody said. Amen. You know, there are some things in life that just don't make sense. Like 20° weather in Orlando, Florida. Hello. I kind of like it. It's nice. There are some things in life that just don't make sense. My wife and I have been married for 2,767 days. By the way, you can celebrate that. 2,767 days as of today. Hallelujah. Praise God. The most anointed, beautiful, grace-filled woman of God. But when I saw her walking down the aisle, I said, "This doesn't make sense that she would want to be married to a guy like me." Like, "Does she know about my bad habits? How bad I snore? How I put my coffee mugs in the sink instead of the dishwasher?" She said, "Amen. Please help him." The dishwasher is right here. All you have to do, it's it's like six inches. So, wives are like, "Yes, say it louder in the back." Some things just don't make sense. I'm always hot. She's always cold. And, and today you would have thought the Titanic was sinking and we were in the water like, "Goodbye, Jack." I said, "It is only 20." I'm surprised you don't have the blanket with you. Some things just don't make sense. I-4 traffic. It doesn't matter what day of the week, what time of the day, the way people drive in Orlando. Hello. If I ever see a Lagua sticker and you cut me off in traffic, I'm going to pray for you. Jesus' name. Some things just don't make sense. When I first went to Brazil and I went in, I'm a hugger, but I went in for a hug. I was like, Lazaro went in for a hug and they went in for a handshake. So, I switched it up. You know, the awkward, "Oh, handshake." Then I got a kiss on the cheek. I, "Whoa. You are not my wife. Calm down in Jesus' name." It's like cultural differences, like, do we kiss? Do we hug? Do we high five? I don't know. Some things that just don't make sense. And as I read this passage, there are many things about Peter that just didn't.
make sense. First, Peter was a successful fisherman. He was the Michael Jordan of fishing, not LeBron James. There is no debate. Let's be real. He was, yeah, he was the Michael Jordan of fishing. Yet he fished all night and caught nothing. It did not make sense.
But then Jesus tells him to do something else that doesn't make sense. Jesus tells him to go into the same water in the same boat with the same net and throw it back into the same water where he caught fish all night, or he caught no fish all night long. It didn't make sense.
Say, "This doesn't make sense for Jesus to choose Peter as one of his disciples. He wasn't qualified. He had no experience. He had no background. He said dumb things. I relate to Peter. There's so many things I just love about Peter. I'm like, if God can use Peter, God can use us, too, in Jesus' name." But it just didn't make sense that Jesus would choose someone like Peter to be his disciple. And there are many things about you and there are many things about me that it doesn't make sense that God would choose someone like us.
Just like we see in the life of Peter, it doesn't make sense that God would choose you because of your failures. Your failures. Peter fished all night. In verse 5, he said, "Master, we have worked hard all night long and did not catch a thing." You know, when you've been working as hard as you know how to work yet, it doesn't seem to be working. It's not for a lack of effort. You've been going to the job, you picked up the side hustle, yet you cannot keep up with inflation. Hello. He was working it. It wasn't for a lack of effort.
And Peter was standing in the middle of an empty boat. I've been standing in the middle of an empty boat. I know what it's like to be standing in the middle of an empty boat when I lost a job and I was living just from one bill to the next, trying to scrape together the money to pay the bill. Didn't know where it was going to come from. Calling the credit card companies, negotiating the interest rates like, "Please, please, I promise you I'm going to pay you next month." Maybe you're standing in an empty boat right now. The relationship that didn't work out the way you thought it would. Standing in the middle of an empty boat. You thought you would be further along than you are right now. Standing in the middle of an empty boat. The empty boat that you're standing in represents failure. All you see are your failures. All you see are the areas where you've fallen short.
And there's always someone standing on the edge of the water. Ah, see, I told you that relationship wouldn't work out. Oh, I knew the opportunity. I told you you should have stayed at the previous job. I knew that was going to work out the same way this one worked out. There's always someone standing on the edge of the water as you're standing in the middle of your empty boat.
The empty boat represented failure. But because the boat was empty, there was just enough room for Jesus to step in. Because for some of you, your boat is so filled up. It's filled up with money. It's filled up with success. Your calendar is so full. You're busy running from one thing to the next that there's no room for Jesus to step in. But if you're standing in an empty boat right now, maybe there's just enough room for Jesus to step in into the middle of your failure because God can use your failure to move you forward.
When Jesus is in your boat, it doesn't matter what storm comes your way. It doesn't matter what attack comes your way. It doesn't matter who comes against you. When Jesus is in my boat, say it right now. Jesus is in my boat. Say it right now. Say, "I may have fell, but I'm moving forward." Hit your neighbor and say, "God's got me." But I need you to say it like you believe it. Say, "God's got me." I said, "I need you to say it like you believe it." Say, "God's got me."
Say, "Jesus is in my boat. I may have failed, but I'm going to keep moving forward. I may have dropped the ball there, but I'm going to keep pressing on. I may not like where I'm at right now, but I'm going to keep running towards the prize that is in Christ Jesus. I may have failed, but I'm moving forward." Come down here and preach today if I have to.
It doesn't make sense that God would use someone like you because of your failures. But if it's not your failures, it's your imperfections. Peter had plenty of imperfections. He was a highly emotional guy. At one point, Peter, he cut a dude's ear off. He just straight up just Jesus like Mr. Potato style put the ear back on. He's like, "Yo, Peter, calm down. Chill out." Peter said dumb things. Always just saying dumb things. Peter had plenty of imperfections. Plenty of things that I don't like about myself. Almost 40 years old, still overthinking entirely too much. Almost 40 years old, still procrastinating. I'm like, Lord, why am I still procra? Things you don't like about yourself. You don't like the way you look. You don't like the way you talk. You don't like the way you don't like that thing about yourself.
It doesn't make sense that God could choose someone like you because of your imperfections because our imperfections make us feel exposed. They make us feel disqualified before we even start. Like God is looking for a more polished version of you. When you get your life together, when I clean these things up, how many times I've heard that, hey, you should you should join a small group. Well, I got some things I got to figure out first. Hey, you should get on a volunteer team. Well, you know, I just I got some areas of my life. Let me just see if I can work this out with God. For God doesn't need a more polished version of you. God can use you like you are right now. God can step into the middle of your imperfection. Moses had a speech impediment. G, you can't use some like me. Gideon was too small and too weak. Peter was saying dumb things all the time. Peter denied Jesus. But God can step into the middle of your imperfection in his perfect grace according to his perfect plan and his perfect will and use you exactly like you are. It doesn't matter what they say about you in the comment section. It doesn't matter what your mother-in-law said about you. I said it doesn't matter where you're at, but God can use your imperfect self to do his perfect plan. That's how God works. He doesn't need a more polished version of you, but he can use you like you are.
But on the surface, it doesn't make sense that Jesus would choose someone like Peter. Like, choose someone who's confident, who's strong, who's anointed, who speaks well. And or if it's not your imperfections, it's your sin. Peter denied Jesus three different times after saying he wouldn't deny him. He said, "Lord, I would never deny you." But then he denies him over and over and over again. Even in this passage, Peter falls right before Jesus and says, "Lord, go away from me, for I am a sinful man." What did Peter do that was so bad that he did not even feel worthy to be in the presence of God? Like I've had moments I knew I screwed up. And it's not always something big that everyone sees. I had the alcohol issues a long time ago. God set me free from that. I was looking at stuff on my phone. I know I shouldn't be looking at it. I was lying. I was cheating. I was stealing. You name it, I did it. Center of sinners. As Paul said, we all have areas of our life where we've fallen short of the glory of God. But it's not always something big. Some of you think you have your life together, but sometimes it's just the thoughts that you have. It's the way you judge someone else because you see their faults and you're good at hiding yours. I'm saying some of you are good at putting on your Instagram filter and seeing everyone else's faults instead of looking at your own.
And sin doesn't disqualify us from being used by God, although they may say that it does. Man, you can't get up and speak in front of people based on everything you did. You can't share the gospel. You can't be bringing people to church. That'd be hypocritical based on some of those mistakes that you made just last night or the shame that you're still carrying from a decision that you made 10 years ago. And sin will either cause you to run towards shame or towards salvation. But your sin does not disqualify you from being used by God. Your sin is the very reason that Jesus came to meet you in your mess. Because we have all fallen short of the glory of God. But when God steps into your sin, you have been made whole. When God steps into your mess, you have been made clean. God can use your past. God can use your failure. God can use your imperfection. God can use your sin to move you forward.
But you think, man, if the people on this row knew that the decisions I made, if they knew the thoughts that I had even just in church a little while ago, doesn't make sense that Jesus would choose someone like Peter. Lord, get away from me for I am a sinful man. Peter said, "We were watching The Chosen the other night and Matthew, was it Matthew, babe, that he's the tax collector, a little quirky in the We like Matthew. He's weird. Matthew's weird. He's not only is he sinning, he's stealing people's money and but he's just quirky. He's weird. He has this little little quirk he does with his head and he's awkward in conversation. And Jesus stops in the middle of the crowds and he looks at Matthew and and I wrote this down. I'm always thinking about, man, this will preach. God can use this. But Jesus stops in the middle of the crowd and he looks up and he and he calls Matthew. And then Peter said, Jesus like Matthew like he's just he's just different. And then Jesus looks at Peter and he says, "Get used to different because you were different when I chose you, too." Oh, do we have any different people in the house? Oh, God loves to use different people. God loves to use weird people. Oh, it's your differences that God can step in and show and do his greatest work. Get used to different. Oh, you were different when I chose you too, Peter. Get used to different. Trying to fit in. Be the same as everybody else. I love being different because God does his best work in your difference. Lord, get away from me for I'm a sinful man, Peter says.
But verse 5 in this passage as Jesus shows up and sees Peter struggling through the night just trying to provide for his family. They're washing the nets. They're ready to give up. They're ready to go home. He looks at Peter and he said, 'Go out into the same water in the same boat.' Jesus gets in his boat. And Peter answered, "Master, we have worked hard all night long and have not caught anything. We keep coming up short, God. I don't This doesn't make sense. Why would we go? Listen, you you're pretty good at your job. You're pretty good at the healing and the preaching and teaching. Why don't you go do that? I'm going to do what I do. I'm good at fishing." So, but but we got the scripture. Pull this up. Verse 5.
"But because you say so, I will." This doesn't make sense, but because you say so, I will. It does not make sense to forgive him the way he spoke to me. But because you say so, I will. It doesn't make sense to serve on that volunteer team after all the bad decisions I've made. But because you say so, I will. It doesn't make sense to give my hard-earned money to that church. God, I don't know where the next paycheck is going to come from, but because you say so, I will. God, it doesn't make sense right now. I'm confused by the outcome. I thought this would look different. But because you say so, I will. Because God's promises are yes and amen. Yes and amen. Yes and amen. Well, God, I don't know if I can do it right now. I don't have the energy. I don't have it in me, God. I'm not qualified. I'm not experienced enough. I don't know that. But because you say so, yes, I will. Because you say so, yes, I'm going to have that conversation this week. Because you say so, yes, I'm going to start a small group and see how you want to use me to impact someone else's life. Because you say so, God. Yes, I will.
And because Peter said yes to God. Because you say so, God, I'm going to put the nets down into the same water I'd been fishing in all night. The fish started swimming up to the boat more than they could receive. They started pulling the nets into the boat to the point that the boat began to sink and the nets begin to break. I declare over your life, this is going to be a boat sinking blessing year for you. You're going to have so much blessing coming your way as you obey God that your boats are going to begin to sink, that your nets are going to begin to break. Boat sinking blessings is a problem, but I'd rather have that problem than empty nets. And this is going to be a full net season for you because you say so, God, I will say, "Yes, I will, God. Yes, I will, God." It's the power of a yes.
And as they brought in all the fish, everything they prayed for, everything they hoped for, everything they had worked for, all the people on the shore were astonished at the catch they had brought in. They celebrated the miracle that took place. And in verse 10, James, John, Simon partners, they brought the fish. Then Jesus said to Simon, he said, "Don't be afraid. From now on, you will fish for people." Said they pulled their boats up on the shore and they left everything and said, "Yes." The power of yes. They said yes to Jesus.
What if in this moment Peter thought the breakthrough was the fish? But the breakthrough wasn't the fish. The breakthrough was saying yes to following Jesus. He left everything he had prayed for, everything he had hoped for, everything that was going to provide for his family. He said, "In comparison to you, God, all of this pales." Yes, Lord, I will follow you even when it doesn't make sense. I don't know how this is going to turn out. I don't know where you want me to go. I don't know about that new city. I don't know about that new job, that new country. None of this makes sense to me, God. But because you say so, yes, I will. Because you say so, I will follow you. Because you say so, God, yes, I will. Because breakthrough is always on the other side of obedience. It was Peter's yes that prompted God's provision.
First Corinthians says this. Second Corinthians says, "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are yes in Christ." Say yes in Christ. And so through him, the amen is spoken by us to the glory of God. God already said yes. Our obedience is agreement with his yes. When we say yes to him, he says yes in return. The power of a yes.
My daughter, she loves. She just turned four, by the way, last week. Can we celebrate Joy? She might go back and watch this. Love you, baby girl. She thinks it's funny when I practice preaching because I get all revved up. I don't just yell on stage. I yell in my tiny little guest bedroom. I kicked my mother-in-law out of the guest bedroom this morning. I was like, I need the room. I got to practice. And she she loves watching TV, unfortunately. We try to limit it. She loves Frozen. Fitting for the weather that we're having right now. She loves Elsa. That's her favorite. I don't know. Belle. Belle might be her new favorite. She loves Frozen. When we try to turn the TV off, she gets mad. She'll get mad and she's like, "No." I'm like, "Baby, just trust your dad right now. Turn the TV off." "No, I don't want." And then she has a tantrum. So, we started playing games instead of watching TV. But one day, she she did not want to turn TV off. She held the remote. She said, "No." I said, "Trust your daddy. We could do something better." If she would just say yes to her father. I said, "We live in Orlando. We can take you to Magic Kingdom to meet Elsa in person. If you would just say yes and put the TV down, there's a better yes in store for you."
When you say yes to God, his better yes awaits you. When you say yes to Jesus, his blessing is on the other side. God's yes awaits your yes. Obedience doesn't always make sense, but it always works. So, Father, stand to your feet right now. We come to you right now. Oh, thank you, Jesus. We feel you on this word. We feel you shifting hearts. Close your eyes right now. Lift your hands. There's some things you've been holding on to, but this is my plan, Lord. This is my focus. This is this is what I want to do, and this is what makes sense to me. And but God's calling you to something greater. God is asking for your yes because his promises are yes and amen and yes and amen and yes and amen. And God always fulfills what he promised. But his yes, oh the power of his yes awaits your yes.
Repeat after me right now. Say, "Because you say so, Lord, I will." Say it again. Say, "Because you say so, Lord, I will." This week, God's going to prompt you. He's going to speak to you and say, "Hey, go talk to your neighbor." And you might be tempted to say, "I'm too busy right now." But will instead you say, "Yes, Lord. I'll have the conversation." God's going to prompt you this week to to bless somebody. Yeah, Lord. But I don't know. The bank account ain't looking too good right now. But will you say yes, Lord? This doesn't make sense to me. The same waters didn't catch anything all night. But yes, Lord, because you say so, I'll throw the nets back into the water because I know that this is a boat sinking blessing season. Your promises are yes and amen. Yes and amen. And breakthrough is on the other side of your obedience even when it doesn't make sense. So Lord, we thank you. You always do your part. Now help us to do ours. Help us to say yes to you. Even when it's hard, even when it's difficult, even when it doesn't make sense to us, we say yes and amen.
And so with heads still bowed and eyes still closed, there may be someone in this room right now who has never said yes to Jesus at all. And we want to give you an opportunity to say yes to the grace that God has for your life. The Bible says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, that you will be saved. All you have to do is say, "Yes, Lord, I'll follow you." And so, we're all going to say a prayer out loud together for the benefit of those who need to come to Jesus for the first time or you need to come back to God today. So, repeat this after me.
Say, "Heavenly Father, I come to you a sinner in need of a savior. Thank you, Jesus, for saying yes to the cross, for dying for my sin, but for rising again so that I could have freedom. I accept your grace, Lord, and I'm choosing today to say yes to you and to follow you for the rest of my life." If you just said that prayer to accept Jesus into your life, on the count of three, would you just put your hand up into the air? Do not hesitate. Do not be ashamed. This is your moment. Say yes to God. 1, 2, 3. Put your hand up if you're saying yes to Jesus today. Hallelujah. Come on, let's celebrate him right now. Put your hands together. Thank God for every decision to leave it all behind and follow Jesus. Can we just worship him for a moment? Lift your hands. Lift your voices. Say yes to his promise. Yes to his name. Yes to his presence. The power of your worship. The power of your yes. We worship you Lord. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. His promises are yes and amen. Sing it with your voice right now. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Your decisions, your yes doesn't just affect you. Your yes affects those around you. As we were singing that song, I was thinking about my dad and how he said yes to Jesus and my dad who took me to church every Wednesday night, every Sunday morning, even when I didn't want to. Just like you probably didn't want to come to church today, you wanted to stay cozied up in your bed. But you came anyway. You said, "Yes, I'm going to show up because God's presence matters." And he took me to church. And some of the things they talked about didn't make sense to me. Some of the decisions I made, I did not feel qualified to be in the presence of God. And I went to jail twice. But the second time I got out of jail, someone brought me to church. And I'm thankful that my dad said yes to Jesus so that when I hit rock bottom, someone brought me back to the same place so I could say the same yes to the same God, to the same grace that is available for you and your children and your children's children. His yes didn't just affect him, but his yes affected me and my wife and now our kids and eventually their kids and future generations to come. The power of your yes. God is going to use your yes to bless not only you but to bless those around you. The power of your yes.
For some of you, that means going out to the welcome lounge today and saying, "Yes, I am finally going to serve." Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. And this is your yes moment to say, "I didn't think I had time. I've made up every excuse. I've gotten in the way of what God wants to do in my life. And this is the day that I'm saying yes, God, use me. Even if it doesn't make sense, I know you can use imperfect people like me." For some of you, it's taking a step this week to forgive the person you've been holding the bitterness towards for far too long. Yes, God, you forgave me. How much more now can I forgive them? The power of your yes. Hit your neighbor and say, "The power of your yes." Now ask him a question. Say, "Hey neighbor, you're going to be here next week. So, you already know the answer. Yes, I will because you say so. Yes, I will." Now, ask him another question. Say, "Hey, neighbor, you bringing somebody with you?" Oh, you already know the answer. Yes, I am. God wants to use you to fill this place up. God wants to use you to bring revival to this city. God wants to use you to bring revival to our schools. God wants to use you to bring revival to our nation. God wants to use you to bring revival to the world. All it takes is your yes because he's already given his. His promises are yes and amen. Put your hands together if you agree with yes and amen.
So, Father, we pray a blessing over your people today. Thank you for your yes. Because of your yes, we can say yes. Help us to walk in obedience this week and say yes to you, God. We love you. In Jesus name. Everybody saved. God bless you church. We'll see you next Sunday.
