[Music] Venus is the planet of social and romantic relating. Venus is the principle of attraction. This is the reservoir of what we desire, our preferences, and our lights, our sensibilities, and our sensual cravings. And Venus is also the planet that acts as seducer, the planetary actor responsible for union with another, pleasure with another, marriage. With both the greedy inner self and with the outer self is a Venus function. So the formation of individual values and the self-esteem that results and informs both personal existence and relationships and gives meaning to life, that is Venus.
And Venus has two poles that represent attraction and repulsion. She also has two phases of that, both described the second house in Taurus function of Venus and the seventh house in Libra function and Venus. So she's me and you. She's mine and yours. And our style of attraction and what we are attracted to is shown by the sign of Venus. How one appreciates themselves is the Taurus side of Venus. How one feels personally valid and how one is appreciated by others is the Libra side of Venus. How one feels personally validated by others, the sign Venus is in shows what sources of pleasure we will derive personal meaning from. What do we love? What are we willing to spend our time and money on? What makes us feel good about ourselves? This is Venus.
Venus is the enjoyment of the senses. This is a hedonistic player in the birth chart. She will be meeting the psychological need for pleasure in this that she's placed in. Our idea of beauty, refinement, attunement, harmony, making beautiful music together, that's Venus. And Venus rules music, our style of music, suites, preferences in art because they give us material content in our lives. Venus is the material meanings that we give to things, ourselves, and partners. What does having or owning this thing mean to me? How do I feel about myself as a result of the meaning that I give to the relationship between myself and an object or person? How do words or texts or concepts and actions inform me of who I am based on the meanings they attach to those things?
Venus is how we personally objectify the world. What meaning do we give to each thing or person who comes into our awareness? A material thing based on values that then translates to the value that we place on it or them. So what are our material meanings? Why do we feel we matter? Remain a solid matter if we give meanings to things and people in the way that we do? Why is there and if to mattering? Why does the mattering depend on the meeting behind it? It's because the process of self-awareness, self-actualization, which as the result of a life well-lived requires plumbing from the depths of the subconscious that which is repressed, overlooked, and disowned to accept all the facets of one's self and therefore to see beyond the individual ego to the whole of human nature, to accept one's own totality of their own human nature. The identification with the compartmentalized ego consciousness of an individual is transformed to become the sum of all personal and collective psychic dispositions, so always of being totality.
Venus is key in this process because she is the anima or animus, the shadow self generated by unassimilated unconscious feelings and desires. And the second house is where we establish and give personal meanings. Venus is the archetype of actor that shows the action, the verb form of Venus. So the second house is the where action shows up. Venus is herself in the form, the planet is the verb form of Venus. She's the agent of the second and the seventh houses. She's the agent of whatever houses that she's ruling, but traditionally to understand it, she is the facilitating the mean what what the second and the second, the seventh house are are going to be experiencing. So the seventh house shows the realm of personal experience related to the shadow self, where we encounter the anima or animus, where we, what we can also call the enemy. We encounter it in the realm of relationships.
So Venus herself is the archetype of actor that will be instrumental in the establishment of inner values and ideals that will lead us to discover our perfect other, which is actually the complete self. When Venus is aspect and in conflicted to other planets, then we see a lack of readiness or the ability to cooperate, that means to operate as a partner. Venus is the how, the second and the seventh house is the where. The houses Venus rules in your chart shows the areas of life the one is establishing and maintaining their values, the material ideals, and the sign Venus is in is the things that we're actively doing to serve the needs of those houses that Venus rules. So how the experiences of the Venus ruled houses are coming through the realm of the house that Venus is in. Other planets in the houses Venus rules are showing what other types of actions are showing up in that realm of personal experience.
And Venus collects and keeps all the heat of the Sun in her thick atmosphere. She carries forth the Sun's purpose of self-actualization through the act of formation of material meanings that distill to become personal values, possessions that underlie and drive the participation in relationships, which are the tool for knowing the true self, which is the entire self.
