Rudolph Steiner made a claim that would disqualify most spiritual seekers today. For every one step forward in spiritual perception, three steps must be taken in moral development. Not knowledge, not meditation hours, not plant medicine ceremonies or retreat attendance. Moral development.
This ratio haunted the esoteric schools. It meant spiritual advancement without ethical foundation was not just difficult but architecturally impossible. Modern spirituality inverted this completely.
[music] We chase peak experiences, condundalini awakenings, thirdey openings, cosmic downloads. Steiner would call this building a tower on sand. The higher you build, the more catastrophic the collapse.
The ancient mystery schools knew this. Initiation required years of ethical preparation before any technique was taught, not as gatekeeping, as structural necessity.
