Toyota has launched its most comfortable sedan in India, the new Toyota Camry. There are a lot of changes in this; the entire design has changed. Take a look, and I'll tell you all the features one by one. Before that, this is the car's key. It says "Camry" here. If you look at the back, it's a basic key: lock, unlock, and boot open.
Now let's go to the headlights. The headlights here—what do you think? I liked the old one's design better. Here you have a DRL going in a U shape; it's a light U shape. And here you have two projector LEDs. When you turn on the turn indicator, it turns into your turn indicator. You can see a reflector on the side. If you look at this in international markets, it's a little orange; here they have made it transparent.
When we go to the middle, here you have your Toyota logo upwards, and below that, you get a camera. It's a 360-degree camera; the car has ADAS level 2. And here you get a black strip. You may not be able to see it in the camera, but it has vents, so my finger is going inside this. Below that, you get your parking sensors, which you will see everywhere in the car. And here, just like every other car, its grill is getting bigger than the car. It has a neatly integrated grill. Its fog lamps are white, and if you look below, you get a chrome plate because in India, chrome means luxury.
Now let's talk about the side profile of the Camry. If you take a close look at it, you won't see any major changes; it's mostly the same. So let's talk about all the elements one by one. First of all, if you look at the front tires, you get 18-inch alloy wheels. There are disc brakes inside; obviously, you get disc brakes in all four tires. Here you have this new badging, and there is a unique design here. It's blue from the top and silver from the bottom; it changes its color in light. You get a chrome strip on the side mirrors, and here you get a small LED light. It's very neatly integrated, which I like. And here you have your camera, which I told you about; it has both 360 and ADAS level 2.
The door handle here, for the driver and passenger, has request sensors in both. So if you do this, the car will get unlocked. If you press the button, your car will get locked. When we go down, you will see, as it was going ahead, it's going front to back. There is a chrome strip. There is a strong clearance, which Toyota hasn't told us yet, but it will be around 160 mm. If you look at one thing, you will find lines here and here in the car, which give it a very strong look. There is a butch look, and you will see a little bit of a Lexus look in this.
Now, if we talk about the rear of the car, I will show you everything from top to bottom. If you look here, you will not see any shark fin antenna. There is no antenna in the car; there is no shark fin antenna. But don't worry, you will get a radio. Here you have a light in crystal design; when it lights up, it looks good. Behind that, we will go to the basic Toyota badging, and "Camry" is written. But when you look here, you will get a new badge for the hybrid, which Toyota now offers.
If we look at its taillights, they are U-shaped like the front lights. In my opinion, they are a little more simple. This area seems blank to me, and this area could have been done a bit better. Here you get parking sensors; there are four parking sensors. Below, you have a reflector, and a chrome strip is going on the bottom on which "Camry" is written.
Now, before entering the boot, you will get your rear camera here. And if you look here, you will not find your Camry boot on the very right side. Weirdly, they have given this button. Now, if you look at the boot space, it is deep, especially because it is a hybrid. According to that, it is a good boot space; your entire family's luggage will fit in it. If I open it below, you can hang it here. Its function is that if you want to change the tire, you can use it here. Here you have your kit, and below this, you have an alloy tire, which is a good touch. Nowadays, hardly any car is giving you an alloy tire as a spare.
Now, the magic of the Camry is hidden in its rear seats. Door thud—solid. The seats are good, very deep; I feel cocooned inside. Under-thigh support is a little knee-up, but I can extend my legs a little—not much because my legs are stuck here. The knee room is good; I have a magazine holder here. If I talk about the headroom, I would say 6 feet—my head is not bumping here. The center armrest here has all the controls for its rear seats. You can also increase or decrease your temperature from here. There is climate control in three zones. You can move your seat forward, as my back is resting, and back. You can do it from here—right, left, both sides. You can increase or decrease your volume, power, mode—all the features. If you press this button, your rear shade will go up and down; you can do it from the front.
The center console exists here; it is not too big. If you adjust it, you will fit. There are two AC vents. Under that, you have USB Type-C. If I talk about the doors, an interesting material has been used here. Top to bottom, you get blinds in both the rear doors, which is a very good touch. This function does not come in BMW's Rs. 80-90 lakh 5 series. The door handle feels a little cheap; the quality of the plastic here is not great. Here you have a soft-touch material, and here also you have a black soft-touch material. The quality of your switch feels good. Below, you have bottle holders in two angles—one here and one there. The speaker is here, and on the left side, you have a small light.
The design of the dashboard in the new Camry has been made new. Here you get a piano black finish, and here you will get slates. The AC vents are blended. Here you have a soft-touch material, and on top, you have a soft-touch material. The screen here is 12.3 inches. You must have seen a similar screen in Lexus. The touch response is smooth; it is much better than the previous Toyota cars. If you look below, you have manual buttons for AC, which is a good touch. Here, both the front seats are ventilated; you can control the intensity. Here, the blower speed has increased a lot. If you look below, you have two AC vents. On the side, you have a physical button for your hazard parking blinkers, which is a good touch. If you look below, you have two USB Type-C on the left side, and on the right side, you have a wireless charger. Let me show you—if you don't have a grip and you are driving fast, you might lose your phone. On the side, you have two cup holders; you have clips, so whatever bottle you have will fit in it. You will get a gearbox, and below you have three driving modes. The good thing about the car is that you still have physical buttons: normal, sport, hold. And here you have an electronic parking brake and EV mode. The car won't run for long; it is only to assist the engine.
The steering wheel has a good leather finish. There are paddle shifters at the back, and if I talk about the buttons, all the buttons are simple, and it looks like they won't leave you alone. On the left side, you have the call button, and this is the driver display. You can navigate, and below that, you have the volume toggle. This is given in a piano finish. On the right side, you have cruise control, ADAS, and you can control other functions. Below that, you have the mode button. I am not able to show you because the boot is open, but you can see the radio is on. The horn of the car is good; the sound insulation is good. On the right side of the steering, you have two options: you can open the boot and fuel lid. You can level the headlight. Here is the automatic headlight button, and here is the traction button. Here is the 360-degree camera; the resolution is not that good. You can see it on your screen; it is not that shabby—maybe because the car is on stage. The steering wheel adjustment is electronic, and if I talk about the seats, the Camry is famous for its comfort. The under-thigh support is good; the cushioning is good. My head is touching the roof because of the sunroof, but there is electronic seat adjustment, and you can adjust the passenger seat.
Since this is a chauffeur-driven car in India, people like to sit at the back. So here you have the boss mode, with which I can sit at the back and adjust the seat. And here is the rearview mirror; this is also auto-dimming. The lights here are very unique, and you have the sunroof option. Yes, it has a sunroof. In India, if there is no sunroof, then it is not a good car for us.
Now, the Camry has its magic sauce, which is a 2.5-litre petrol engine. As it gets hybrid technology, it combines and produces around 230 Bhp, and the company claims it will give you 25 kmpl mileage. The company has launched it for Rs. 57 lakh on-road in Mumbai. So now the question will come to your mind: take this, take the Superb, or take a German counterpart for this much money?
