The unemployment rate is accelerating much faster for fresh college grads. Those working in sales, marketing, public relations, programming, and business analytics are most at risk of losing their jobs. For example, in the US, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that data entry clerk occupations have declined by more than 25% in the past decade, and they are expected to continue falling at an accelerated rate by 2030 due to the implementation of intelligent automation software.

In the customer service sector, the use of chat bots and virtual assistants capable of handling increasingly complex inquiries has led to a progressive replacement of human jobs. According to Gartner, it is estimated that by 2026, 75% of customer service interactions will be managed by AI compared to 20% recorded in 2019. This figure implies a significant reduction in demand for call center agents, a job that currently employs more than 17 million people worldwide. This rate is higher than the overall average of the labor market precisely because these functions require adaptations in changing environments that robotics cannot yet replicate efficiently. Nevertheless, even in relatively protected sectors, AI is driving a transformation in the required skill sets. According to an IBM report, 40% of the global workforce will need to reskill in new digital skills over the next 3 years, equivalent to more than 1.4 billion workers. This means that although certain occupations may not disappear, their practice will require greater familiarity with AI tools. From assisted diagnostic systems to predictive analysis platforms or automated collaboration software, AI isn't here to substitute doctors and healthcare providers. The impact of AI on employment is not homogeneous and depends on both the nature of tasks and the economic and social context.
