Top 15 Questions about Gutter Launch and starting a seamless gutter business

How to y'all? This video, I'm going to cover a bunch of the frequently asked questions that we get on all of our calls in Gutter Launch. Um, not that we're tired of answering them, but we figure more info out there, the better, right? That way, we don't waste any of you guys' time and, um, you guys just have an idea of what you're walking into, right? So, uh, without further ado, let's jump into some questions.

Question number one, um, is what's the average job size or the average ticket for a seamless gutter business? And what we see in my company and in all the other Gutter Launch companies is an average ticket of $3,300 to $3,400. So somewhere in that range. Um, and then piggybacking off of that is, does that include gutter cover? Yes, it does. All right. So $3,400 bucks, $3,300, $3,400 bucks including the gutter, the gutter cover, the downspouts, corners, all that good stuff. All right. So $3,400 is your average ticket in the seamless gutter industry.

Colin, I have an existing business. Do I add gutter to that existing business or do I make it its own thing? All right, most of the time, it's better to be its own thing. And I've kind of got a little bit of an ulterior motive and I want to share that with you guys. So Gutter Launch was built to expand my gutter business. All right, I am taking on partners all across this country and I needed a way to train them and get them spun up so that they are doing the exact same systems, policies, procedures that all the other, all the other locations are doing, right? Well, in that, one of my mentors was like, "Dude, you need to start selling this thing." And I was like, "Okay, you know what? Yeah, I could sell this thing." And here's where I'm really going to show you guys my ulterior motive in this. All right, you're going to make a bunch of money if you do this thing the right way, right? Um, the gutter industry is a gold mine. You guys have all heard me say that. So I'm giving you all my secrets. But here's what I really, really want to happen is I give you guys all my secrets, you build a business that looks just like mine, you make a bunch of money off of it, right? And you do it for five, 10 years, whatever. And then you're like, "You know what, Colin? I'm getting into real estate investing. I'm ready to sell this thing. You, I'm your first call. Colin, you want to buy my business?" I absolutely do because it looks just like mine. It's an easy acquisition and I get to pay you more than anybody else because it already looks like my company, right? So that's my ulterior motive here is you make a bunch of money copying everything that I've already done and then you make a bunch of money off me again when I buy your business. So that's my ulterior motive, if you will, is that I get to buy your business later on after it's built already and, uh, reap the benefits of your hard work. But I don't want your business if it sucks, right? If you're the guy answering the phone, doing the sales, ordering material, and all that stuff, I'm not going to want to buy your business. Why would I want that? I'm not going to buy a job, right? I want you to build a business just like I have that doesn't need you. I can pay a bunch of money for it and add it to my conglomerate and it becomes worth more money. So most of the time, having a gutter business as a separate entity makes sense because private equity ain't going to want to buy it if you got, if you're doing painting and gutter, right? There's always, like, there's no painting and gutter companies out there, right? They want to buy a painting company or they want to buy a gutter company, not both.

The next question is, what, what is an average week revenue-wise in the gutter industry? So at $3,300, $3,400 in average ticket, we can do about one and a half, two of those jobs per day. Our average week is $25 to $30,000 in total sales revenue. All right. So that's production, total sales. Third, $25 to $30,000. And that's really, really consistent. You can see, I'll put a graphic up. This is one of the trucks in my company right here. These are, these are average weeks, right? I've blacked out all the, all the customer names so you can't see that, but you can see the average, the jobs, and what it adds up to at the bottom.

What is the profit in seamless gutter? Uh, so there's two, that's two different questions, all right? Um, because I look at my business in two different ways: gross profit and then the net profit. And so how that breaks down is you got your total sales, that's 100% of all your income, right? Well, your gross profit is minus the cost of goods sold. So the material, the labor to do the job. And in my company, it's the commission because we pay commission on every single sale. We don't, we have, we have sales reps cover everything, right? I don't, I don't do any sales. And we don't have recurring revenue like a window washer or pressure washer does, right? So, um, we pay commissions on every single sale. So material runs about 18% every single month. We pay our technicians 10%. Our gutter production supervisor gets 2% for managing all the crews, ordering material, all that stuff. And then our commissions are 9% to the sales rep. So that leaves a gross profit of 61%. Now, everybody's like, like, "Well, okay, that's great, but what about insurance and this and that?" Yep, those all come, those are called just expenses, all right? So your gross profit minus expenses equals your net profit. And that's your true profit, all right? That's what your business will pay taxes on, all right? So the net profit with Gutter Launch companies, we see it range based on the scale of automation, right? So if it's fully automated, like my business is, we run about 30%, all right? 30% every single month, year over year, 30% is our net profit in the seamless gutter division. So your gross profit minus your expenses equals your net profit, and that is like the true profit. That's what you'll end up paying taxes on as a business. Okay? So, um, that net profit at full scale automation, like my company, is where I, you know, I talk to my general manager one for an hour a week about what's going on in the business and overcome anything that we need to talk about. That we run about 30%, all right? But if I was answering the phones, doing the sales, being the gutter supervisor, right, and I just had two technicians, right, my profit can be 45, 50%. All right, it depends on that automation and, and how many employees you have, that overhead, right? And then of course, right, as your total revenue increases, your overhead, like if you have an office person, a GM, a sales manager, all these positions, right, right, they're capable of doing more revenue than they are right now, right? So as your total sales increases, your expenses will decrease a little bit, right? So your profit margin will increase. So, um, I'd say 30 to 45% based on automation.

What are the costs to get into the seamless gutter industry? This is like the number one question that we get. How much am I going to have to pay to get a gutter machine, get a truck, all these other things? Right? If I do Gutter Launch, there's a bunch of stuff in there that I got to pay for, right? Yes, there is. So, um, you're going to have a machine. Right? Your machine will be $6 to $8,000 if you buy a used one or buy a brand new one for $12, $13 grand, all right? Um, you got your first month of marketing with Gutter Launch is about $3,500 bucks, all right? That's buying all your print product and getting things rolling, all right? Then you have your truck. A box truck or you have to have an enclosed trailer. That's going to be anywhere from $3 to $110,000 depending on how fancy you want to get, right? So $3 to $10 grand there. Um, you'll have $11,000 in subscriptions. This is your QuickBooks, your CRM, your CompanyCam, all that good stuff. And then you'll have to get your website going too. Your website is going to cost you about $1, $1,500, $2 grand, right off the, right off the rip. Um, and then our ads agency that we use, right, they have a $2,000 setup fee. You only have to pay per lead once it gets set up for you. And they, it's the leads, it's really cool. This is a total tangent. They actually book the estimate for you and you don't pay them until you actually get to give the estimate. But that's besides the point. So $2,000 in startup cost on that. So all in, you can really bootstrap it and be like $15 grand or you can be all the way ridiculous and you could be $80 to $120 grand if you want to buy everything brand new and top of the line, right? So, um, then you have small tools. Right? You're going to have to spend like two, three grand on ladders and small tools and hand tools and all that good stuff. So that's the cost to get into the seamless gutter game.

How long is it going to take me to make money? Colin, great question, right? That's what we all want to know, right? Can I make money tomorrow off this thing? You could. You're not going to know what the heck you're doing, but you could start making money tomorrow. Um, what we see is an average of two to four weeks to implement everything in Gutter Launch. So the website design guys, they're going to take you, take a, you know, two, three weeks to get your website live, right? Getting your ads set up is going to take a week or so, right? There are things that are just going to take some time. Time getting your LLC set up, getting trademarked, all that stuff takes time, right? You don't need to wait for the trademarking to come in to get launched, but all this stuff takes time, right? So two to four weeks is the average timeframe of setup time that you'll have before you really start like selling jobs. So you can, like, you know, one of our Gutter Launch guys made a post on Facebook the day after he bought, like, "Hey, I'm adding seamless gutters to my business, blah, blah, blah." And he had like six requests for estimates. It was crazy. So, um, you can start taking estimates and, you know, take those deposits and help, have them help pay your way through, right? That's what a lot of our clients do.

What are first month projections? How much money should I make in my first month? This is really, really tricky, right? I cannot make income claims, right? That's how the FTC comes and gets me, right? Um, but what we're seeing, right, we've had, we've had guys that do nothing and nothing changes in their business and they make, you know, $20,000 by running their, their same old crappy gutter business, right? Now, that's very, very few that actually come in and do that. But we have the average person sees about $40 to $60,000 in their completely new business. $40, $60,000 is the average, uh, that we see a company do their first month operating. Now, again, I'm not making income claims. You got to do things in order to get results, right? And what you do and how well you do it matters, right? So, but I've also had, and I've also had a guy that did almost six figures his first month, right? He followed Gutter Launch to a T, every script, every word, every marketing thing, did it exactly as Gutter Launch spelled it out. And, uh, he did almost six figures, right? Now, that dude busted his butt. He worked harder than anybody I've ever seen, right? He did all the things, um, and it worked out really, really well for him. So again, no income claims. I cannot make those income claims. Every market is different. I go and launch a new market and I'll have one that takes off. We do six figures first month. And I'll have one that's like, "Crap, this is going to do like $35 grand this first month." Like, I got to figure out what levers, what marketing levers work better in this market, right? Some of them, I got to spend more on Facebook and Google than I want to. Others, we just got to sling a bunch of yard signs and it works really, really well, right? You got to find those little triggers that work in your market.

Colin, I live in Topeka, Kansas. All right, um, I'm going to say that because I just sold the guy that lives in Topeka, Kansas. Jake, you're an awesome human being. But I live in Topeka, Kansas. Will you sell to somebody else in Topeka, Kansas? You bet I will. Jake, and here's why, right? I believe in healthy competition. But also, the largest companies, I, me, my mentors, we've done tons of research on this. Even the great Alex Hormozi has, right? Um, the potential of you tapping out your market is is like zero. It's 0.00001%, right? The smallest chance of you actually tapping out your market. The largest companies that you can think of in any service are lucky to have 8% of the revenue share in their dem, in their market, right? So yes, I will sell to as many people as I can in your market because the more people doing business the right way, the more your community is going to be taken care of, right? So yes, I, I will sell to other people in your market, um, because I believe that all ships rise with the rising tide. And if I, if Gutter Launch can be the rising tide in the gutter industry, your ship is going to rise.

Well, Colin, does everybody succeed who does Gutter Launch? No, I'm not going to lie to you guys. I'm not selling snake oil here, right? Um, even though some of you all have accused me of selling snake oil and making ridiculous claims, um, no, not everybody succeeds. I've had to kick somebody out, right? Uh, they just weren't doing anything. I said, "You're not a good fit for this. I need winners." And you don't want to win, so you don't want to make the changes that you need to in your existing business. You think you know everything, and that ain't going to work, man. I've got a proven model here because here's all these other people having success and you're fighting me tooth and nail. I'm not going to deal with this. So gave him his money back. So see you, right? Um, it happens, right? We have people that take it and they're like, "I just need more leads." I had one guy that thought that we were a lead provider, right? He literally signed the contract and everything, like read through everything. I spent three hours on a Zoom call with him explaining everything in Gutter Launch and somehow in his brain, he thought that he only had to pay us for leads that we brought to him. I was like, "How? What?" And, uh, just blew my mind, right? So, um, the success rate is very, very high. Right? We have a 95% success rate right now, right? People who get in Gutter Launch love it. Um, I mean, honestly, my biggest fans are people with big, big companies. They buy it and they're like, "This is the best thing ever. I need you to build this for my HVAC company. I need you to build this for my roofing company. Like, please do this, please." And, uh, I don't know HVAC, but maybe I'll build one for roofing, we'll see. So, um, but the success rate is very, very high. But compliance matters, all right? I cannot guarantee that you will be successful. Your compliance with following the program in Gutter Launch will designate if you are successful or not. So, um, you cannot pick and choose what you do or don't use in it. If something makes you uncomfortable, well, get comfortable doing it, right? I'm not going to tell you to go do anything ridiculous. I do these things every single day. I, anybody who knows me knows I'm one of the most ethical people. I take care of my people. I take care of a lot of people I don't know, right? Um, I'm not going to make you do things that are illegal or unethical, right? But I will push you out of your comfort zone. And if you're not willing to get out of your comfort zone, Gutter Launch probably isn't a good fit for you.

Does this work for me in my experience or lack thereof? What if I have no gutter experience? Can I, I don't know anything about it? What is gutter made out of? Is it made out of gold? Like, you know, no. Hey, it's made out of aluminum, but it doesn't matter. Honestly, the people who have the most success in Gutter Launch are the ones who come in the greenest, all right? And greenest being with the least amount of knowledge, right? I've already mentioned the people that don't succeed in this are the existing gutter companies, all right? That's it, right? I don't like taking on existing gutter companies because they know everything, or so they think, and they refuse to make the changes necessary. The people who come in and just do are, are the ones who have the most success, all right? So who comes in and just follows the program? People who don't know any better, right? And they equal the best result. So, um, if you know nothing, this is probably exactly what you need as your launching pad into the seamless gutter world. This also is huge. I've had a lot of investors buy this. They have somebody that could run it for them, and so they're just the money man. They buy it, here, follow this, right? Um, I've also had a lot of roofing companies, I mentioned that, who buy this, uh, to bolt it on to their existing roofing company. And then they beg me to build the same thing for their roofing division. Um, so that, and then aspiring entrepreneurs, right? People just like you and me who have worked for the man and just, you know what? I'm done with it, man. I'm ready to start my own thing. I'm ready to be my own boss. I'm tired of working 70, 80 hours a week. I'm tired of being on call all weekends. I'm tired of missing my kids' ball games. Like, those are my people. The people who come in willing to learn, broken, and ready to be rebuilt, right? So that's where we're at. That, that is our target client intel.

Here's another great question I get a lot is, what type of warehousing do I need? Right? When I launch a new location, nine times out of 10, I run out of my partner's garage for the first couple months, all right? That's all we need, right? A spot to park a truck and a spot to store some product. That's it. Is it ideal? No. If you got some money, go rent a warehouse, right? Rent a storage unit, whatever. But, um, nine times out of 10, that's how we start. And we start looking for that perfect office space that we can grow into too, right? So, no, you don't necessarily need it, but a garage or shed will work. I ran my business out of a shed for the first two years, right? I think it was an 8 by 16 shed and it was tight quarters, but it worked, man.

Colin, that's great that you can sell gutter for $16.50 a foot, but that'll never happen in my market. Right? This is not really a question, this is more of a statement that we get, right? Every now and then they'll say, like, "How could I ever get those prices here? I can barely sell at $8 a foot right now." Long story short, short your customer experience sucks. That's why, that's why you can't sell. Right? I sell for $16.50 a foot everywhere. From, we don't sell for that little in, in California, it'll be more than that when that guy launches because California has ridiculous taxes. But every other state, right? We get that money everywhere from Idaho, right? We're on the far west side of Idaho all the way to Maryland, from Michigan, Wisconsin, all the way down to Florida, Texas. We get $16.50 a foot. Your market does not matter. That is a lie that everybody is trying to get you to believe to make them feel better about themselves and their crappy customer experience. Without getting too much in the weeds, go check out my marketing video. I explain a little more in depth the customer experience and why that matters. So check out the marketing video. Um, we'll put that link down in the comments here for you guys. You can just click on that and check it out. But I don't want to go too, too far in the weeds on that. But long story short, your customer experience sucks. And I'll teach you how to create great, an incredible customer experience so that you can get $16.50 a foot. If you do everything, but again, you cannot just pick and choose what you want to do in Gutter Launch. You got to do the whole thing.

Is this a franchise? Great freaking question. No, it is not a franchise. Um, I do not want your money for the rest of your life. I mean, if you want to pay me the rest of your life, great, I'll take it. But, um, that is not it. I'm not going to take revenue from you for the rest of your life. Um, not how this program works. You don't have to be Gutter Launch, whatever city you're in. Like, it is 100% your business, 100% whatever name you want it to be. You just get access to the Gutter Launch program and the full training LMS to teach your employees and all that. Um, you, it's not, it's not a franchise, right? You don't owe me money for the rest of your life. And there is no red tape like a franchise has.

What is included in Gutter Launch? Is a fantastic question as well. I have lots of people that think they get the CRM, they get the QuickBooks, all this stuff when they buy it. Um, that is not the case. You have your own, um, subscriptions for every single one of those. If I gave it to you, then we'd probably have to be a franchise because I'm not going to pay your subscription fees for the rest of your business life. None of it's included, right? What is included in Gutter Launch is the entire program. But you still have to buy your own individual subscriptions. We have very, we make it so simple. There's affiliate links, brought you right to it. They set you up. I mean, even the website guys, right? You tell them you're, I mean, they go through it, see you're a Gutter Launch person. They ask you, "Do you want your website to look just like Colin's or do you want to try your own?" Right? I recommend you make it look like mine because they build it way faster. Essentially, copy paste, put your name, your logo, your about us on it, and it's done. Nothing is included except for the Gutter Launch program. You got to buy your own QuickBooks, you got to buy your own Service Fusion, you got to buy your own CompanyCam, you got to get your own marketing profile with Alex at TCM, like you got to build your own website. All these things, none of that's included.

And the other biggest question is, how much, how much does this thing cost? All right, here's the deal. I can't tell you how much it costs and expect you to just book a call. If I say it's $100,000 or it's $5,000 or it's $1,000, right? There's very little value that's been built at this point, right? You guys got to see the program, you got to meet me or one of our, one of our consultants, right? Um, it's really hard to build any value and show you the value, right? I can tell you guys blue in the face, but until you see it, it's really hard for you to actually, like, grasp what it is. So I'm not going to tell you guys the price right now, right? You got to book a call. Just like everybody else does. Book a call, go through it. We got to see if you're the right fit. I already told you how much capital you got to have liquid, right? Or access to, right? Doesn't all have to be cash, right? You can use credit cards are a beautiful thing. Go to the bank. If you know you don't have access to that $15 to $25,000 in capital, all right? Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Larry, the bank, credit cards, whatever. If you don't have any access to to any money, you probably can't do Gutter Launch, right? And I hate to say that because I think everybody has access to that, to that money, right? You just got to find a way. Right? When I started, I put everything on a 0% interest credit card. Right? But you're saying, "Colin, I have crappy credit." Cool. Then fix it. It's not my problem. Like, it's not your problem. A little bit your problem, but fix it. Why are you sitting there being, being feeling bad about it? I got crappy credit, go fix it. That's all there is to it, right? Um, your mom, dad, my mom and dad are broke. Okay, cool. What about a friend? What about a boss? Find somebody. Network. That's it. Find somebody that'll invest in you, right? That's all I do is invest in people. I find some of the best individuals. Elijah, sitting here videoing right now, right? I invested in him. First thing I did when he came on board is I bought him a $6,000 program to learn how to be the best on YouTube, right? Like, I invest in people. I didn't watch a single thing on that program, right? I bought it purely for him and his knowledge. If he leaves me in a year, guess what? He still has that knowledge, right? Invest in people, right? I invest, I start businesses with people who have, who don't have the capital, who don't have the knowledge to start the business, right? Um, but I start businesses with them and I teach them, right? So that they can be successful. There are people out there like me that want to do that for people, all right? So, and there are a lot of people with a lot more money out there than me. They're like, "$20,000? Sure. Here, here's $20,000. You'll pay it back over the course of a year, two years. Okay, great. There you go, right?" But $20,000, if you borrow $20,000 in the gutter industry, you should be able to pay that back in a few months, man. Like, dead serious.

If you guys got any questions, drop them below, DM us, get on a call, whatever. We'd love to talk to you guys more in depth about Gutter Launch and how it can serve you, your family, and your community. Love you all. God bless. Wi Bigley.
