He folks, and welcome to the channel. And if you're new here, I'm Lee, the evil wizard. Welcome! And in today's video, we're going to take a look at an overdrive pedal. Today, but is it your ordinary type of overdrive? What will some find out? This is the Earing Maximum Overdrive. So it's time for a pedal review. I've had this in quite a while now. The uh, the Earing Maximum Overdrive. You want a war? You got [Music] one. I got it at the same time as I got the ID, what, the Ultimate Drive. I've got that about somewhere anyway. The, the other Earing pedal, I did. I got this one at the same time, and I just recently got another one to review. I have actually been M to this one for absolutely ages. Anyway, yes, it is an overdrive pedal. It's got all your, your usual dials on there: your tone, volume, and gain. But it's also, you there, it's also got a boost on there, plus you've got three types of clip on there as well. So this top button here is your clip, or this top switch, should I say, is your clip. So you've got smooth clip in the middle, you've got a hard clip there, and what's the B one? A smooth clip. This, but is two various types of clips as well. So you've got an MFET in the up position, and in the down position, it's a DI.

Let's plug this bad boy in and uh, let's take it for a bit of a test. Drive for this demo, we're going into the Jet amp and the Jet City Cab, mic'd up with an SM57 and another microphone I'm currently testing out at the moment, which will be coming up for review as and when. You, you've actually heard both of these together in a couple of videos anyway. And as you can also see, we're actually using, we've got the Zaki out. We've not had Zaki out for a while. I've got it onto the, the crunch channel. Well, this is what it sounds like without the, the pedal on at the minute. I've just got it in sort of s, of standard configuration, sort of tone in the middle, gain all the way off, level about three-quarters of the way up, and that's on the smooth with uh, the Moss, no, with the diode, with the [Music] MOSFET. The meane, I don't think you're really any, really hearing any [Music] difference. So that's flat, and this is the HD clip. I say, in this scenario, we're not really here any difference. Let's just turn this gain up a bit since we're on the crunch [Music] channel. Yeah, that's sort of giving you a bit of a nice hard rock tone [Music] about 2:00 into a crunch tunnel, and the crunch is only at what, 1, 1.5. We are getting sort of bit of an at sound there. Just for science, like, swap it all the way up, all the [Music] games. It's on the smooth at the minute and it's on the MOSFET. So MOSFET, and then I'll flick it today, old. Yeah, now we've got some gaining there. You can hear a bit difference. So start it off on flat, and then we'll go to smooth, and then [Music] HD. I see you, let me just turn that back down a bit. I know you've actually got a boost in there, especially for your leads. [Music] [Applause] That's what it sounds like into a crunch channel. It me, just B everything back to where it was, flick it over on to the, the, the overdrive channel, which is the more high gain channel on this. I'll leave it on the, on the MOSFET and start it off on, on the, the, the flat, so without the pedal on. [Music] Yeah, is just tightening that low end up a little bit. Let's just, well, a tiny amount of gain in there, not even a quarter of the way. [Music] As for me, it's just a little bit top-endy, so I'm just going to turn that tone down on T rather than mess about with the [Music] I said that's on the MOSFET and the smooth. So MOSFET onto the [Laughter] [Music] DI. Yeah, you can hear a bit of a difference there on the uh, clipping. So smooth, I'll flat, smooth, and then we'll go to [Music] HD. Now I'm sort of liking it in that sort of configuration, smooth and the MOSFETs. [Music] [Music] He come [Music] Like say, you've got that boost function for your leads. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Ready [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]

There you go, folks. That was the Earing Maximum Overdrive. [Music] What do I think about this thing? Does it get the wizard seal of approval, or does it get the F of? Oh, for me, yes, it does get the wizard's seal of approval. Yes, you can use it as your typical overdrive. Is it a typical overdrive? Yes and no. Yes, you can, like say, you can set it up as that typical overdrive, have everything at maximum, I, your gain at zero or just above zero, sort of, I don't know, about 7, 8 o'clock-ish, and just push that amp a little bit more. I like how you've got the options for all the different clipping stages. Like I said, I, I'll prefer it on the MOSFET with the smooth, and then just turn that tone down just to touch, just to, just to take some of that nasty top end off. Somebody else might prefer that top end; it's all down to personal preference, like with any sort of, of pedal. Once you've set it, you just forget it; you set and forget. And I like that it's got that boost in there for your leads. If you had a lead player, you just want to boost your leads up a bit, you've got that option in there as well. Ah, it is, I would say aluminum construction, not aluminum. I don't know if you can put a battery in this, but you just use a normal 9v power supply, 'cause I've not opened it up, uh, but I would say that uh, yeah, just and I power supply it. It's easy enough. Now, when I bought this, they were around about 13, 14, give or take, plus tax and postage. They have gone up slightly. I think that I've just had a quick look this morning, and they're around about 17, I think. Even at 17, it's a bargain; it's still a bargain. Anyway, let me know what you guys think about this down in the comments. I will leave a link to the uh, store where I got this from, or a store I got it from, AliExpress. Max, say, let me know what you think about it down in the comments. And if you want to grab yourself some evil wizard merch, there's a link to the merch too in the description. But that's all from me, folks. I will catch you in the next [Music] one.
