I cannot believe that YouTube said this about AI. And this is coming just a few months after YouTube put out their whole statement talking about how they weren't going to be monetizing repetitious content. And everybody seemed to take that as you can't put AI videos on YouTube and that you can't get demonetized. But that's not at all what they said.
They were basically saying that you're not allowed to re-upload videos to YouTube that have already been uploaded as someone else's clip without doing any change or anything else. Basically rules that have existed on YouTube for a long time in the past, but now they're enforcing it more. So, a lot of people misunderstood this and they see AI systems being used to detect repetitious content and content that doesn't abide by the YouTube terms of service and they took that to mean that YouTube doesn't allow AI content when in reality, YouTube is just using AI to identify content that has always not been allowed on YouTube. Content that doesn't give any value. Content that's just being re-uploaded thousands of times to the platform. That's not allowed on YouTube. And I've done multiple videos on my channel, both going over this update, going over some channels that have actually gotten deleted by YouTube and why they've gotten deleted and how you can stay safe under YouTube's rules.
Now, all that being said, YouTube just said something crazy. Or rather, YouTube's CEO Neil Men said something shocking. So, apparently, he wrote a memo to employees at YouTube where he apparently said, quote, "Looking to the future, the next frontier of YouTube is AI, which has the potential to transform every part of the platform." This is a lot different than what most people think YouTube is doing, which is going after AI content. Quite to the contrary, YouTube is going allin on AI content if people are using AI correctly. Obviously, if you use AI to break YouTube's terms of service, then it's not going to be allowed on the platform. But if you use AI to help you generate amazing videos that people actually love, that gives a lot of value that are advertiser friendly, then YouTube is going to love that. And Neil Men says, quote, "We need to set ourselves up to make the most out of this opportunity." So YouTube and the CEO of YouTube understands that this is a huge opportunity for YouTube's business. And this also comes on top of the news that YouTube is also integrating Google's DeepMind V3 into YouTube Shorts. So you can generate YouTube shorts with AI directly within YouTube.
Now, I think Neil, the CEO of YouTube, understands that a lot of people are going to have an issue with this who are working inside at YouTube. So, he actually set up apparently something called a voluntary exit program that's offering severance packages for workers who choose to give up their positions if they don't want to be a part of that or they don't want to be involved in the massive amount of work that's going to be required to fully integrate AI with YouTube.
Now, you might be saying, Matt, what does this mean for integrating AI with YouTube? And I have several theories about what I personally think this means. So, number one, we have YouTube Shorts being integrated with Google VO. That's probably just the first step of a large process that YouTube is doing. Now, what I'm about to say is purely speculation. This is just what I personally think is going to be happening. What I would be doing in order to make as much money as possible from this AI revolution is I would integrate Google VO directly into YouTube itself into the desktop version of YouTube. So, you could create full YouTube videos with AI. I would give creators the chance to create AI avatars directly on the platform. And my guess is that this is probably what YouTube is going to be doing.
Now, I know a lot of people are going to have an issue with this. They're going to say, "How am I going to compete if there's tons of AI avatars on the platform and people are just producing AI videos?" Well, the CEO of YouTube, and I believe YouTube itself looks at AI a lot differently. Here's another quote from the YouTube CEO where he said, "I do think content creation is an area where AI will help enormously by making the process easier, by making it more efficient, faster, and also by making it more powerful." In that sense, my sort of vision around AI is that it's AI in the service of human creativity. It really empowers human creativity. And if you're working in a scripted space and you need a particular background, say, or you have a particular sequence, well, AI can help you in multiple ways. It can help you ideulate what that script should be. It can help you create the background. It can help you, as you saw last week, actually add content to the video that you've created. And then he goes on to say, I think we are in the very early days of those types of possibilities. And my hope is that it will create a lot more opportunity for that entire supply chain of creation, not just for the creators at the top.
So, as you can see, he's talking about AI being a tool, similar to how a video editing program is a tool. AI is a tool that should empower creativity that's going to both give tons of entertainment to people as well as help people in so many different ways. And by making these tools available to everybody on YouTube, they open up so many possibilities of new creators who might be a kid in their parents' basement that's 14 years old like I was. And let's say that kid had ambitions of creating movies. If you go down the traditional route of doing that, you would need to raise so much money. You'd have to get so many connections. It would be decades before you ever got the opportunity, if you ever even did, to create your own movie. Whereas with AI tools, we might get to a situation 5 10 years from now where that same kid could create full motion pictures using his or her own creativity. And I think that's a really incredible thing.
Yes, there's going to be a lot of bad things that come with AI becoming more prevalent and more integrated directly into YouTube. Obviously, it's going to be used for bad things. Every new technology is used for both good and bad things. But I say we should look on the bright side of this attitude from YouTube because as creators ourselves who are building big YouTube businesses, we want every single tool at our disposal for doing so. Imagine you could just create an avatar directly on YouTube instead of using some thirdparty tool. And I say this as someone who owns an AI video company that allows YouTubers to generate full YouTube videos with AI. It would benefit everyone if those tools were directly integrated with YouTube.
Now, obviously, YouTube can't do everything at once. probably won't be catering to all types of content and it will probably be a very long time before they can ever generate full faceless YouTube videos directly on YouTube. And a lot of this is also just my speculation as to what YouTube is going to be doing with this sentiment from YouTube CEO. But I'm very optimistic about the future, especially with all that scare that went on a few months ago when people were saying that faceless YouTube channels were over. My faceless YouTube channels have only continued to grow. And on top of that, I'm using AI more than ever on those channels. But I'm doing it in a way of trying to give as much value as possible with those channels. I really try to help people with my educational channels and try to entertain them with my entertainment channels.
But one thing you want to make sure of though is that if you upload AI content on YouTube and you use AI, for example, to create an AI avatar, similar to channels like Zinny Studio, who has an AI avatar, she makes incredible videos. When you're uploading these types of videos to YouTube, it's really important that you check the box that your video includes AI generated visuals. This shouldn't impact the performance of your videos at all from what I've seen.
So, here's some practical things that you can do to make sure that your videos don't have any issues on YouTube, especially if you're using AI. Number one, don't use repetitive templates to have every video looking the exact same. Like, there was this trend of these revenge story channels on YouTube where every single video was literally just copy pasted from Reddit and it was probably AI bots doing this. And that's not really giving any value. Plus, it's a huge copyright concern. You have to think about it from YouTube's eyes. You don't want to be giving YouTube, for example, legal trouble by just copyping scripts from other places. You want to have original scripts. And if you do use a software, use something like Tube Magic. That's what I personally made to be able to write incredible YouTube scripts that are original where you can put in context videos of multiple different videos from YouTube and then take the best information from those videos. And then on top of that, it runs it through all the best practices for writing YouTube scripts, the best hook templates, the best psychology, the best opening and closing loop strategies to keep people watching throughout your whole videos. And then you can even choose a word count on unlike most things like chatbt if you're just using that to write a script. So, if you're going to use AI tools, make sure to use ones that actually give value. And make sure to actually still be a part of your content creation process. And even my channels that I am outsourcing with AI, my faceless YouTube channels, I always have someone in charge of QCing all the videos before they go live on those channels. You want somebody quality checking those videos, making sure they're actually good before you upload them. There's no mistakes. There's nothing that could potentially be not advertiser friendly, and there's nothing that could potentially get you banned off of YouTube.
