[Music] a man with zero hater who is more famous by the name missile man than his real name who is called the people's president whose birthday is celebrated all over the world as student day who saw the dream for india to become a modern nation and fulfilled it his name is dr apj abdul kalam.
we all grew up reading about him in gk books by the name of missile man not just missile man of india he has given great contributions in the field of science technology healthcare politics economy teaching and much more today on its death anniversary we will discuss about the greatest contribution of sir apj abdul kalam in science and technology and in the last i will tell you the real reason why he is known as the missile man of india so let's begin.
back in 1980s when india hardly dreamt of having its own satellite launch vehicle dr kalam's over 10 years long hard work as the project director of the development of the indigenous satellite launch vehicle at isro led to the groundbreaking scientific development it was in july 1980 that india's slv3 successfully deployed the rohini satellite in the near-earth orbit leading to the country becoming a member of exclusive space club.
[Music] while india has been declared polio free by the who back in 1995 and 1996 dr apj abdul kalam and his team worked endlessly to produce orthodox calipers that weighed one tenth of the weight of those that were available in the market these slow reaction calipers made movement and walking less painful and cumbersome allowing kids to walk more freely and fluidly without much help.
sir abdul kalam played a major role in heading the focus second nuclear testing he was the chief scientific man of the prime minister and without any doubt the best nuclear scientist of the country at that time the nuclear testing under the supervision of kalam during the period of july 1992 to december 1999 made india a nuclear armed state.
dr kalam collaborated with cardiologist biso maraju for developing cost-effective coronary stent named kalam raju stand which is a tube shaped device placed in arteries that supply blood to the heart to keep the arteries open in the treatment of coronary heart disease the duo of kalam and soma raju in 2012 designed a tablet computer for better healthcare administration in rural and less reachable areas they termed it the kalam raju tablet.
after the success of slv program dr kalam also become the director of two projects project devil and project valiant in the 1970 the core lock project table was to produce a short-range surface to air missile it was discontinued in 1980 without achieving full success but the project helped to the later development of the british missile.
after working for two decades in isro dr kalam was appointed as the ceo of integrated guided missile development program he was responsible for the development and operationalization of agni and prisby missile this earned him the title of the missile man of india he earned so much respect and honor not only from india but from all over the world he received honorary talk rates from 48 national and international universities during his lifetime for his work in the stream of science and politics the 11th president was also awarded india's highest civilian honor or the bharat prathanam and many other national and international awards sir apj abdul kalam has set an example of extraordinary citizen teacher and most importantly human being.
