Hey, what up though? This is Ramon from the Paradise and Paraguay YouTube channel. Here to give you uh the scoop on being black and living in Paraguay for about $1,000 a month.
So, first of all, let me tell you a little bit about myself, my family, and our channel. Um, well, generally when you see me on YouTube, I'm with my beautiful, wonderful wife, Paradise. I'm currently traveling on business. I'm away from home, so y'all just going to have to deal with me right now.
But anyway, about 10 years ago, my wife and my infant, then infant son, uh, and I, we moved from Michigan to Paraguay. And since then, we've had two more children, two beautiful daughters, and we have been enjoying the experience and the adventure ever since. We feel it's one of the best things we've ever done.
Uh our YouTube channel basically goes along and uh basically shows and and what our experiences are like and we're trying to inspire people to do things a bit outside the box if they've been intimidated to do so. So we're trying to, you know, inspire and help people.
Um, in addition to that, we recently started uh consultation and concier services for people who are really interested in Paraguay specifically to help them uh get into get prepared, get in the right mindset and actually make the move uh get gain residency and acclimate whether it's getting a house, car, all that stuff. We offer all these all those services. So, those are uh that's what our channel centers about.
So, some of the pros living in Paraguay uh first of all, people are wonderful. They're patient. They're kind, they're humble, they're just very welcoming and warm. The people of Paraguay, they are like the number one asset of Paraguay.
Um, on piggybacking off of that, a lot of our melanated brothers and sisters when they're looking for a new place, they're concerned about racism. Understandable. We know, we know the history and all that stuff. That's not something you're going to have to worry too much about here in Paraguay. From our own experience, uh, our skin tone and our hair texture, even though, yeah, I got more straight hair, but my my family, they got they got more curly curly hair, those have been assets more than liabilities here in Paraguay. People are attracted to us in a positive way because of that. So, that has been quite refreshing.
Um, the cost of living now, our cost of living as a family of five here in Paraguay is very low, about a little over $1,000 a month. Um, if you are a single person, couple, small family, you can easily live in Paraguay for about $1,000 a month or less. Uh, but that also is going to be contingent upon where you stay in Paraguay. The most expensive and largest city is the capital, Asencion. We stay outside of Asencion where the rent is lower. Asencion has the highest rent. So, that's going to, you know, dictate that. So cities around Asencion where the rent is very accessible is going to be uh Luc, Lambor, Fernando de Laora, San Lorenzo, Capiata, Nimbu, places like that. Uh, additionally, if you don't want to live around Asion, you live say close to Brazil, Incarnasio might be a good place. Um, you also have access to a lot of nice beaches there as well.
Um, food is really high quality and and tastes good here. Uh, a lot of the food is raised in a more old-fashioned manner. So, it's just higher quality, really low price as well.
Uh, the weather is very very very uh uh temperate in regards to just being very warm/h hot most of the time. In winter, it can get as low as 40° at night. So, in that same day, it's going to be 60, 70, 80° during the daytime, maybe even 90. So, weather is great if you like warm weather.
Cons. If you don't like hot weather, well, that's that's going to be a con because in addition to the almost constant warm weather, there's a lot of hot weather as well. We're talking about getting into 105 106 107°, you know, sometimes for days on end during the summer, but that's that's that comes with lack of cold weather.
Um, lack of English. Not a lot of English speakers here in Paraguay. So, uh, if you're not, you know, really open to learning another language, Spanish principally, uh, that's going to be an issue.
Um, additionally, since Paraguay is just off the beaten path, there's just actually not a lot of, uh, black people here. So, if you're looking for a place to have a melanated community, that's going to be a bit of a challenge here in Paraguay. Um, and that could be a con for you or it could be neutral or could even be a pro. It just really depends on what you're looking for. It wasn't really something that affected us much. That was more of a neutral thing because we have built a community here uh in Paraguay for us to belong to because the people are just so wonderful. It's just easy to do here. So again, the asset of the people in Paraguay just just make it so we haven't even felt like we needed a melanated community or whatnot.
