Power of Intention in the Divine Will - Fr John Brown (Master Class)

Elijahs Cloak1:33:12

Transcription

Morning. Let's try and get started. It's really important today. We're going to, uh, our topic is the Purity and Power of Intention. And we touched on this a little bit several weeks ago, but it sort of merits a day by itself because intention is, is, uh, intention is what fuels us. It's what drives our will, the intention that we placed on everything. In fact, whenever we come up for judgment on Judgment Day, we're not going to be judged so much on what we did as much as we are the intention with which we did it.

You remember me telling you about that Mother Superior of Sister Teresa, the Sister of Teresa Davilus, who was considered to be a very holy woman? And she appeared after she died and told Mother, uh, Sister Teresa that she was in hell because they, everybody thought she was holy, but she'd always done it for her own self. All those holy acts she had done for herself to appear holy. So the intention with which you live is what, uh, is what we will be judged by. Because God initiates all of our acts, and it's up to us to determine how we use them, what the intention we place on them. That's where the value comes from.

And the Divine Will, we try to teach with understanding how there are the devotions. There's the Rosary, there's Divine Mercy, there's public prayer, there's sort of devotions. And the Divine Will does not like that. It's something apart. It's the third work of God. And the reason we do that is because, for example, and people always get this messed up as if I'm saying you don't have to pray the Rosary anymore. But it's, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying, in fact, let me tell you this. Jesus tells Louisa, living in a Divine Will, nothing changes in your exterior life. You don't change anything that you do. He says it in these words: "What you change is the intention with which you live your life." That's how important this subject is. The intention with which you live your life.

It's what, it's what makes up our will. Our intention usually is always self-serving in the human will. He wants to serve itself. And what we have to do is, in those, we have stages one, two, and three before you go into the fourth degree, is so that you can, what we call, empty yourself of your human acts, empty yourself of the things that you have done because your intention has always been out of love, some, some way, love of self. There are different kinds of love, but it's always been out of love of self.

What the Divine Will teaches us, and what you come to live when you move into the fourth degree, is that whatever you do, whatever you do, and as when we have Paul's, uh, uh, quoting here, he says, "For it is God who works in you both to will and work for his good pleasure. Whether you eat or drink," says Saint Paul, "or whatever else you do, do all to the glory of God." This is where the Divine Will, this is where it comes alive. Everything that you do is for the glory of God. That's what changes within you.

So what that does is it makes all of our acts, it makes everything that we do of the same value. Do you see why? Because whether you're praying the Rosary or whether you're washing dishes, you do both of them to the, to praise the glory of God. Therefore, the Rosary has a very powerful intention, and washing dishes has a very powerful intention. In other words, there's only one sanctity that comes out of both of those things, and it's divine sanctity. Because living in the fourth degree, God is doing it in you. You're doing it, you're allowing God to do it in you for His own purpose, for His own good pleasure. Therefore, it is a Divine act.

Now, if you're not in the Divine Will, you pray the Rosary, and it's a holy moment during the day. It has special religious meaning to you, which washing dishes does not have any, probably. Yeah, most people don't really enjoy washing dishes. It's always something people do. Washing dishes is a lesser thing, you might say, a lesser value than praying the Rosary. But this, this inequality ceases in the Divine Will because we are in, we are powered by one single thing, and that is to do whatever we do for the power of God.

It's sort of like a car. A car has a gas tank and a carburetor. The carburetor is the wheel. The gas tank is the intention. If you put good gas in your tank, your car is going to run smoothly. If you put bad gas in your tank, your car is going to cut out and smoke and eventually stop running because it's not the fuel that makes your car, it's not good. So what you want to do is keep your gas tank as clean as you can. Keep your interior, especially as clean as you can. We call it purity of intention. And what it means is doing whatever you do purely for the love of God.

Is another example is like this, and this helps you understand somewhat, maybe, the Divine Will. I've told you this before. It's like a child who wants to go to the store, wants to go to, I guess you go to Walmart now. We used to have a Woolworths around here. We used to have Woolworths, and so I always wanted to go to Woolworths, and I didn't know what I was going to get. I wanted to go shopping because it was a great store. But I couldn't go unless Dad gave me some money. So Dad gave me some money. He'd give me five dollars, and I would go to Woolworths. And while I was in Woolworths, I could buy gifts, or I could buy school books, or I could go here and just spend the whole five dollars on candy. It was up to me what I spent it on, you know.

And this is the way God works. God gives us the money. He, in His grace, initiates every single act in you. You can't move, think, walk, talk, anything if He doesn't, if He doesn't initiate the act. But then He leaves it to you to determine the value that's placed on it. Is it going to be a good act, or is it going to not be a good act? Are you going to spend it on good and holy things, or are you going to spend it on candy and stuff that's going to make you sick? You see, sitting with a free choice comes in there. The free will comes in. And this is, this is a good example of how God initiates everything, but we determine how it's used. We determine what intention is behind it.

So the purity of intention is, is the bulk of who you are. And it's why you want to develop a good, thorough Christian life because you act out of who you are. You don't stop and think before you make every decision. You just act out of who you are. You act out of the kind of life that you have lived and built up within you. So if you've built your life around love of God, if you're able to see God's love in everything that happens to you without judging it as being good or bad, it's just all coming from God. Therefore, God is to be loved above all. And everything that you do, if that becomes habit in you, then all of your acts are going to be fueled by a good and holy intention. If you're living in the fourth degree, you're going to be divine acts. They're going to be divine lives that you're creating that are issuing forth from you, going up to the glory of the Father, which is what we were intended to do from the beginning.

And because you're doing it, you can do it on behalf of others who are not doing it. And by doing it, the kingdom draws closer to us, especially if you're able to multiply your acts to the infinite. If you have that same habit in you, you don't have to say it, you know. You might want to include it in your prevenient act in the morning: "And every act that I do today, Father, be multiplied to the infinite. Let it touch every person who'll ever live on the face of the Earth, from Adam to the last man. Let them all receive the good of my acts today because my acts will be that done in Your Will. It will be divine acts. It will be holy acts. It will be You acting in them." And even though they don't know it, it's grace that comes forth from me that gives them the power to live their day. So the world depends upon us to live the Divine Will, even though they don't know what it is or care not to live in it. But it doesn't matter. What we need to do is to decide that we're going to live as intensely as we can to establish, to complete the established number of acts required for the kingdom to come. Because the kingdom's not going to come until that last act is accomplished in the Divine Will. And that number of acts, as we know, is established by God. He knows the number. He knows the day. He knows who it will be completed by. And God wants that day to come more than we do because He knows when it is. And we just live in blind faith that as we live act by act, that our acts are becoming a part of the coming of the Kingdom.

So do you see how important your intention is? Do you see the power of your intention? Do you see the necessity to have purity of intention? And purity of intention means to do whatever you do, "whether you eat or drink or whatever else you do, do all to the glory of God," like Saint Paul says. This is what you want to keep in the forefront of your mind. That's why this is so important. I'm repeating some of the stuff I've done in the past, but taking the subject by itself, I think, requires us to look at it a little more closely.

So, "in Him we live, and move, and have our being." Now, some of your own poets have said, "We are His offspring." And there's, Saint Paul, if you'll notice on your handout, is quoting two Roman philosophers as he, as he says that, to let us know philosophy is a good thing. Have you ever got interested in philosophy? Been interested in philosophy? Yeah, philosophy is wonderful. In fact, whenever you go to seminary, seminary is six years of education. Four years of philosophy and two years of theology. You might think it's the other way around, but it's not. There's something real and substantial in philosophy, especially the classic philosophy. And the formation, philosophical formation of the mind, is always good because it helps you think logically. It helps you think things through in a certain order. Roger and I were talking this morning, if you have just a little philosophical bent in you, you don't have to really ever ask the question about the Divine Will because if you'll stop and think, whenever you ask the question, you already had the answer. If you don't have the answer, you can go back somewhere and pick up a tidbit that you've had and carry it out yourself to its logical conclusion. Because the Divine Will, as in the mind of God, follows always a logical sequence. God doesn't just jump around and do stuff willy-nilly. He does stuff progressively. He does this so that we can understand it. And He does it so that we can draw all that without having to go to the volumes always to them, to to see what the answer is. We're able to follow logically. And this is why we want to have an appreciation and somewhat of formation in philosophy.

Also, the attitude is important. The intention is important because it's what divinizes us. We talk a lot about divinization. Taking on the mind of Christ is what that means. To become divinized means to be able to see the world from God's perspective, not from a human perspective. Because your perspective on the world is wrong and salty and cynical, most always. Because we all, we all carry, you know, this bad feeling about what's going on in the world. And so we tend to think that way. We have to move away from that and see the world as God sees it. This is what it means to be divinized. That means that you're able to compassionate God because you see the wrong in the world. You see the injustice that God suffers in the world. You see how badly we treat each other, how we fail to see God and each other. These are observations that we make that let us know that we don't see the world as God sees it. Because God sees it as a triumphant, joyful plan. Guys, this is how He sees creation. We see it in the muck at the moment. God sees it as it was supposed to be in the, in the beginning. And in the end, He sees it as being gloriously triumphant and Him receiving glory from all of His creatures for everything He ever done, ever did. This is how God sees me. And this is how you want to have God's mind. When Paul says, "take on the mind of Christ," this is what he means.

Because we recently related the volumes to where in the Divine Will, there are no unhappinesses. I got that. There are no unhappinesses in the Divine Will. If you're still unhappy about something, then there is still something human in you working, and you're mulling stuff over yourself, apart from the mind of God. So you want to take on the mind of Christ. You want to see things as God sees it. And you want to see it with peace and joy and confidence that the kingdom is going to come. It's going to be the most glorious, triumphant moment. It's so powerful that you can't imagine what it's going to be like. And you know that you're living towards that moment more than anybody else. This is the advantage of living in the Divine Will, to know that you're living the life of God. You're thinking like God. You had God's peace and God's joy in you. There is no restlessness in you, except perhaps some holy anxiety that the kingdom is not here yet. But other than that, you're, you're happy, you're joyful, you're peaceful. This is a sign that you're living in the Divine Will.

When this thing settles on you again, it's, it's, that's why whenever there's disagreement amongst ourselves, it upsets me terribly. Mainly because I lived as a hermit so many years when there was not that element. It was not there. I didn't have anybody to disagree with. That made it easy. But, and we're not, it really was, it was just God and myself. And coming back out in the world now, I'm having to deal with people who want to argue with you, who want to say, who want to promote their own agenda apart from the writings. You see things in a way they can't prove. That's just the way they'd like to see them. I've had to deal with this, and boy, does it drag me down. I'll tell you what, I miss the hermitage sometimes so badly. This morning was one of them. This morning I was ready to leave Roger and Dale and go back to my tent somewhere, almost. Not really. It was just, it was a fleeting moment because this is, this is truly the glorious opportunity that God has given all of us to grow together.

If you read the dolphin letter I wrote you last week, I'm so excited that God has brought you to me and been able to here to share with you and to let you know how much I truly care about you. I think Roger and Dale join me in this because, you know what, guys? We talk about, we don't talk about anybody else but you guys. And usually, it's who's growing, who's giving an indication that they've figured something out. Somebody finally got it. It brings joy to our hearts when we found out somebody finally got it. You know, our individual, we've been praying for somebody who is just struggling with getting the concepts. But, uh, there is a great joy that we share because we live it all the time. And you're a great part of our, uh, work because whenever, whenever you understand the writings, it means that we've succeeded. Not that what our success is what's important, but it means that you've understood perhaps some of the things that we understand. And to know how important the Divine Will is and how much God has entrusted to us for the coming of the Kingdom. So, and we work to keep our attitude in that same vein. Had an attitude doesn't get down as time goes on. I find this becoming less cynical. You know, how can you talk about somebody else when you've got the Divine Will to talk about? This is one thing I don't understand. How can you gossip about another person when you've got this treasure in these volumes to, to talk about? And you'd be, and it can be lived that way because that's how we live it in this house. But I come down to the kitchen, and Roger's in the kitchen. We don't talk about what Roger's doing or what I'm doing. We exchange something about the Divine Will. That's what we do. That's all we talk about. It's the best life you could ever imagine. This is what also nourishes us and nurtures us and it keeps us prepared to help answer questions.

So, this topic of the Purity and Power of Intention is vital because your interior disposition forms your intention. Whatever your interior disposition is at the moment, if you're carrying grudges against someone, if you're going, if you're not going through Matthew 5, 6, and 7 and seeing that you're living that completely, then you've got some human weight on you that needs to go. You've served about something, you've made a judgment somewhere along the line that you shouldn't have made, and your intention is not going to be the kind that allows you to be happy and joyful and peaceful and at rest at the moment. You're going to be perturbed. So this should be a sign to you. If you find yourself perturbed, you need to stop and figure out what you're doing in your human will that's causing that and correct it and understand that, no, I don't need to be thinking this way because we are what we think. In fact, all of us are just God's thought. You have been thought into being, each one of you, and you were always in God's mind. You were always a part of God's thought. Yeah, the day came when God wanted to show His glory outside of Himself in you. So He created you, and then He gave you this wonderful, exquisite life to live if you had remained in the Divine Will. But we were all conceived and born in sin, and we didn't follow that route. So what you want to do is rediscover that route, and that's what the Divine Will brings to us, brings to us the way so that we can live the way God intended for us to live. Because we are nothing more than a walking intention, just a walking thought of God. And God continues to think us into existence. This is how we live from moment to moment through God's thought. What if God thought the way we did? The Lord will be destroyed. It might be a problem there.

This is what we say. According to the purity of your intention, you yourself speak things into existence. In the Divine Will, people haven't understood this notion too well yet. But because your intention is so powerful, you can create things, create them according to the way that you see them, the way that you perceive them, the way that you have understood life. You create your own existence to a great deal. You create your own inner attitude. I've told you before a hundred times, you're creating yourself right now as you speak, as you, as you think, as your disposition goes, you're forming your heaven. Whether it will be a large mansion or a small mansion, or that will have many roads or a few rooms, it depends on how you're living right now. So just because people can't enter directly into your mind and hear your, and read your thoughts, know what you're thinking, don't think it doesn't matter because it absolutely does matter. Every thought is preserved, and you'll be able to, you know, in fact, you'll have to respond for every thought you've had in this life whenever you come before our Lord. That's part of the judgment, not just what you did, but remember what you thought as you were doing it. That's why we have our Lord who says also, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." So you can sit on your couch and have a million human thoughts go through your head, and you say, "It was not, there's no harm. I'm not hurting anybody." Or you're hurting yourself because before God, it's as if you actually did the things that you're thinking about. Your mind and your heart, He records what you do, and He records the intention with which you did it. And you will be answering for that intention. So in all of your thought processes during the day, as well as your acts, all the act, all your thoughts, everyone, everything, if they're not in the Divine Will, they all have an intention placed on it for good or evil, and you will be judged on what kind of thought you had during the day because God sees it as a completed act.

So just remember that. What about anybody asked forgiveness? I'm sorry. What about if you guys already asked forgiveness? God has already forgiven you. Does that still come up before you think it? No. If you have a bad thought and then you ask God, you're forgiven. You're not going to be sent to hell for it. But you're going to have to redo it. But right, but you say you will be judged on every thought you had. Are you still going to be judged on that? Yes, you will. Even though you've been forgiven, because by not being forgiven, you merit death for all those, all those acts. Having received forgiveness, you will not merit eternal death, but you'll have to redo all those acts in Purgatory. They remain fixed and until it becomes as pure as God's acts. And you can do that either now or if not, remember that's what we have Purgatory for. Purgatory is for you to relive all the moments in your life that you did not live with that intention. Every act in your life that you did not live for the pure glory of God must be redone. You can do it in this life, or you can do it in Purgatory. Yes. So the questions that we do it in this life, the Purgatory, that's still Divine Will. He, our Father, will say, "Bad acts." Because I did that yesterday. That would be our will. Well, what now? Wait a minute. In the Divine Will, what you do is, when you come into the Divine Will in stages one, two, and three, you can go back and relive your life. You go back and redo your acts as if they were all done perfectly for God. Once you move into the fourth degree, you don't do that anymore. There is no sin in your life. Once you move into the fourth degree, remember, there is no temptation, there is no sin, there is no demonic activity. All of that ceases once you move into the fourth degree. So once you reach there, you don't have to worry about it anymore. Until you get there, you redo your life either now in the Divine Will, or because not everybody's going to be in the Divine Will, and God is going to give everyone an opportunity to relive their life, then they have to do a long purgatorial order, but they'll have that chance because Purgatory is part of Heaven.

But how exactly the first three degrees? Oh, Nancy, I'm not sure I want to answer that. I think I kind of want to leave that to yourself, leave to you because it's an act of love that you are, you feel sorrowful for the life that you had lived. And we all remember moments. We don't remember everything, but we remember at moments. And we go back and we multiply our own acts to a number that will cover all the acts that we have done in the past and and offer them to God as if they had been lived perfectly for His glory. You know, I mean, it's not a big process. It's not like it's something that takes days, months, and years to do because sincere prayer, I think that that would work. You know, for me, Jesus, all of our acts came from God anyway, right? Everything was initiated by God. Jesus came in with His life and His first 30 or 33 years or 34 years that He lived in. He redid all of our acts. So when I enter into the eternal divine order of God, I enter into that place where my life has been redone by Jesus. It's in suspension, waiting on me to come into Jesus and get it. So when I come into Jesus with that prayer, I've got it. It's done. It is, it didn't make it. Let me tell you something. You want to play it hard for you. Tell you something about what you just said. Jesus, God, when He wanted to come and live with us, He gave Adam a test that was too hard. Fine. So when He wanted to come and continue the world and and reveal Himself and live with man, God gave the Jews like 600 and something laws to obey, which was too hard for him. So that didn't work. So then He decided to send His Son. Jesus came to make it easy. All you got to do is believe in me and love you, love God and love your brother, and all that stuff. That's real easy. That was too hard for us. So God is simplifying this process as we go. He's not making it harder. He's making it. He's so now, since it's too hard for us, period, He just gives us this gift. I'm gonna do it for you. Yeah, you just take the gift. It's that easy. You just take your gift. Which is still hard for someone. Yeah, work for the difficulty that we feel. Then we wouldn't know it, and you wouldn't have a sense of penance for it. Yeah, I would appreciate it. Yeah, and you wouldn't say, "Father, I could have done that myself." You need to know you need Jesus. That's what you mean to know. And that's the only answer. And life is too hard. The whole process is too hard. And that's why He's the only one that can do it. What was, what we're saying is that if you're in the, if you've found the Divine Will and you understand there are four degrees, and if you're not in that fourth degree, you need to do whatever you can to get there before nightfall. It's that, it's that urgent. Not that you can do it, but I mean, you need to say, "This is exactly where I want to be." Yes.

By any chance, are you going to do it again? Uh, no. I'll, I mention it almost every, every week. We have a handout for that. Yeah, they have one somewhere. I don't know. Uh, it was one of the first ones of today. No, you know what? I think I think we had that one. Uh, I came here before I came here to stay. I came a week to stay, the week before then, and we had that lesson then before this group ever formed. Is there anyone who does not understand the four degrees?

You can, and you will, experience a gift. They'll be, I mean, I only started this, and God only started the city in March. And Sundel in like May or June gave me that entering into prayer, yeah, on a Saturday, and I read it that night. I just read it, and then I kind of more prayerfully read it in the morning, Sunday. And I swear, and I really didn't even know what it was. I still don't know what it is. I'm swimming. Usually, I pray the Rosary when I swim, and that's what I meant to do. But that prayer, by God's gift, it was like my life was streaming through me in memory, and I trust was being reordered. I was like, "Wow." I didn't do anything. I didn't expect it. I didn't look for it. I didn't even know it. But now that I've experienced it, it's just, yeah. But there was a lot of material. Susie, it's a very simple process. Yeah, it's a gift. It's, uh, thank you. What happens is, in the beginning, in stage one, you don't know anything about the Divine Will, and you're living a life all for yourself. And then you come into the knowledge of living in the Divine Will, which you came into, and you make a decision. That's for you. You're going to accept the gift. All right, then God gives you, Jesus gives you the gift right there. You have it. You've done everything that's necessary. But there's a process with that gift that you will do to grow in that gift and to demonstrate a desire, which is extremely important. You will begin to live your life with a purity of intent, limiting for yourself, and do everything with charity, which means live your life for God. That's your test. That's a test, period. That's the same thing that Adam failed his test. This is your test. Do you want this gift? Then do everything with this purity of intention. And at some point in time, when God sees that you really want this and you've passed your test, He will lift you up into the fourth degree. The process is as simple as that. The fourth degree is the fullness of the, of the Son, is as fullness of the Divine Will. What happens at that moment is that God covers the source of sin in you to where you don't sin anymore. You're free from sin. You are immaculate, and you live the same life that Jesus and Mary lived. So your life changes dramatically with the fourth degree.

And, um, people still ask the question, "How do I know when I'm there?" That's up to you and when God will give you some indication where you are in that. Because in the first, second, and third degrees, you can always go up to the top of the mountain and come back down the mountain and go up the mountain and come down the mountain. You can do whatever you want to. You can come down and stay in the house. You don't have to go back up the mountain anymore. But once you go up into the mountain, on top of the mountain, and God lifts you up into the Son, you become transubstantiated into something entirely different, and it's irreversible, and it is divine, and you are one with God. Wherever God is doing whatever God does, you're one with Him. You think like Him. And things change in your life forever, and there's no going back. That's the wonderful thing about it. He, He makes it to where we can't descend from that state. So I think that everyone has the desire to be in a state where you don't sin anymore. There are a lot of people who don't believe that, who refuse to believe it. Divine Will people who refuse to believe it. And yet, this is what the writings tell us. It's God's great desire that we not sin. Not, gosh, He's God. The last thing He wants us to do is sin. If He sees an opportunity to take it away from us, do you think He's not going to use it? Do you think He's not going to offer it to you? If you can say, "Okay, I gosh, there's Carol Farms down there. I don't have to worry about her anymore. I mark her off my list. She's taking care of us." He's resting in her. Yeah, He's resting in Carol, and and that's where He's supposed to be, and He feels at home. And Carol feels at home, heavy in there. So things are copacetic with Carol and God. And I think that people would should try and get there. And all these, all these talks I give every Saturday, they are instructions on how to get to the fourth degree and cleansing that you need to undergo, a purification of understanding that you might need, something to help you get to the fourth degree. Because if we get to the fourth degree, then we can all just sit and look at each other and not have to say anything because it'd just be all God. So that would be great for me.

Do you notice on your handout? God says, "This is our Lord in Deuteronomy says, 'Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on Heaven and Earth to witness the choice you make. All that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live.'" One of my favorite passages from the Old Testament. Oh, that you would choose life. Today I placed before you life and death, heaven and hell, good and evil. Oh, if you would only choose life. Why would you not choose life? Would you say there's something wrong with someone who doesn't choose life? There's some moral problem there? Some hangout that says, "I don't want this. I don't want life. I don't want good. I don't want heaven." It's not righteous. It's not rational for a human to think that way. So God places this before you, and He places it before you all the time until you get to the fourth degree. And He says, "Make a choice. I'm laying before you in this act, heaven and earth, life and death, heaven and hell. I'm placing before you in this next act, life and death, heaven and hell, darkness and light. What are you choosing each in each act, in each moment?" Because you're in a new creation in each moment. You need to make the choice with what you want to live that moment. Do you want to live it in light, in life, or do you want to live it in darkness and in death? That's your choice that you make in every act, every moment of your day until you get to the fourth degree. And to get to the fourth degree, you have to understand finally that everything comes from God. Good and evil, like He says here, "I place before you." "I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessing and curses, between light and dark, between life and death." What are you choosing in this moment? And you have a free will to choose death. And a lot of people do. Because if you're not choosing life, you're choosing death. You're choosing one or the other. If you're not choosing light, you're choosing darkness. That's why you have to work to form your intention. Because there's nothing like, "Well, today I did a pretty good job of choosing life over darkness." No, that's not the way it works. Remember, there are no neutral acts in the Divine Will. And we had it in the gospel yesterday. "Those who are not with me scatter." "Those who are with me are not against me." Jesus tells us Himself. He doesn't say, "Okay, Apostles, go over there and try and talk them out of doing that." He said, "No, leave him alone because either they're with me or they're against me." Every act that you do, you don't have the luxury of taking time out and think about it. Each act is done with one of two intentions: for yourself or for God. You're choosing life, or you're choosing self-death. You're either choosing good things, or you're choosing the opposite of good things, whatever that might be. This is what your intention does. The intention with which you live your life. Why it's got to be purified. It's for this reason because this is what you act out of. You act out of the interior attitude that you form. That's why there are so many self-help gurus, self-development people who get motivational talks. That's what they're saying. They're saying, "If you want something, believe you that you have it, and you'll have it. It'll come to you eventually." I mean, this is like the gospel of the New Age, and it's out there everywhere. "You are what you think. You have what you think you'd like to have, and if you don't, you're not going to get it." And he's being priests around the world outside of the religious context. It's being, it's being used in a way that just makes heathen people more heathen. "Believe that you're going to get that new Jaguar. Believe it long enough. Think that you've got it, and eventually it will come to you." And we've got people who believe that garbage, who believe that. I shouldn't, maybe it is true. Maybe if you become that obsessed with a Jaguar, you're probably going to end up getting one, even if you have to rob a bank. Even if you have to rob a bank. But we're talking about doing this so that you can, because this is natural. This is natural to your being. This is the most, to who you are. This is the most that you were created to be: was to form an interior divine attitude, to live for God, to understand that your life is briefly on Earth and quickly passing, that you have the opportunity now. The only reason you're on Earth now is to construct your heaven, to construct your eternal domicile. That's why you're here on Earth. That's where you're going to spend your time and your efforts doing things that matter, doing things that count. And the things that have to do with that which matters have to do with the life to come. God will take care of this life for you if you, if your desire is to take care of the Kingdom, if you're wanting the kingdom to come, if you're looking forward to the day when you will be one with Heaven, one with God, when God will be sovereign in all of His creation, then He will take care of your needs for now, and He will set you free to build your own castle in heaven, to build your own heaven. And in fact, it's more than that, guys. It's more than build your own heaven. You multiply your heavens. When you get to heaven, is it just going to be the heaven that everyone goes to, like Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, one big happy dance hall? No, that's, that's not what heaven is. Heaven is what you have created. It has no ends and there's no beginning, no ends. It's infinite, and there are as many heavens there as you want, as you desire to have, according to the way that you live your life now. And all you have to do that is just say, "I love you too," in every act. You know, he's an issue. Whatever you're doing, He's initiating it, and you're just saying, "I love you too." And that act becomes a heaven, a total single new heaven that's given to you for all eternity. I don't know anywhere else that you can be offered such a gift. You can, with this, this is who God truly is. God's revealing Himself. He's revealing more than just His mercy and His forgiveness. He's revealing the incredible extent of His love for us. Because God will not be satisfied until we are all on an equal basis with Him. Did you know that? Until we all become on an equal basis with our Lord, until He can look at us and say, "Yes, this is truly my brother in everything that I am, humanity, divinity, so heaven, everything." Until we are like Him, until we're like Him in the Eucharist, we are, we fall short of who we are supposed to be in this life. And what I'm telling you today is that you form this, you form this attitude by the way that you live, and you form this attitude with the intention with which you live your lives. And you know, and it's a good thing, probably, that we can't enter into each other's interior life. I can't read your thoughts at this moment. You know, you might be sitting there saying, "Well, he's the biggest fool I ever heard." As far as I know, you know, or you may be saying, "May God be glorified in every word he says." I don't know what you're thinking, but what you're thinking is determining your eternity right now. And if we believe that everything that we think will come to us, and if we believe that everything that we, everything that we think is going to be revealed, how about that one? Will be revealed completely. I'll be, I'll be able to enter into Ellen's mind when I get to heaven and see her every thought and the intention with which she lived it, even if she was calling me stupid. I can go there and witness it. I don't have to blame her for it. I can be there. And vice versa, you know. We, we live hidden lives, but today is coming to where the hiddennesses will be taken away, and everything that we have thought, heard, everything we've done in this life will be open for all to see. Because why? Because there is a Unicity in God that we will participate in. There's Oneness in being, not just one altogether, one, but one in being that we join at the moment of our death. And that's what we want to worry about or think about or live for.

Let's go on to our, this, uh, next part of a handout. "And the estimation of men, the value of an act increases in proportion to the time spent in its performance. But before God, the value of an act increases in proportion to the purity of intention with which it is performed. For as the scripture says, 'Men looked only to the external acts, but God regards the heart, that is, the will with which they are performed. For man sees those things that appear, but the Lord beholds the heart.'" From First Kings. Did y'all find that on the front page? Can there be any action more excellent than to suffer martyrdom for the faith? But Saint Paul says, "If I should deliver my body to be burned and have not charity, that is, do not die out of love for God, it profits me nothing." You can give your life, which is the greatest sign of love that you can give, your life for a brother, but if your intention is to glorify yourself, you've not received a thing out of giving your life. Because your intention was not to do it according to God's glory. Have you never, have you ever thought about these things? Amen. Amen. "It is neither torments nor death," says the Fathers of the Church, "but the cause and intention that makes a martyr." All right. Our intention is bad if we seek only ourselves in our actions. If we perform them to be praised or to please ourselves. "Take heed," says our Lord, "that you do not, that you do not your justice before men to be seen by them." Matthew 6. "If you do, I will answer you when you're asking a reward of me, you have received your reward. You have obtained the praise which you sought. What can you now expect from me?" We don't hear that one too often, but it's a good one. Because you've received your recompense now. Do you want your recompense now, or do you want a recompense stored in heaven? Do you want someone to come up to you and say, "You know what? You're the holiest person I've ever been around." Do you desire that, or do you like it when someone just does it? Or do you say, "If they only knew, if they got the only experienced me." You know, where is your recompense? It's either on this, in this world, or the world to come. And every act has its recompense. He says, "If you give a glass of water in my name, it will have its reward." I know every hair that falls from every head. I know everything you do. I know every thought you have. And each one brings a recompense, either now or in heaven, one of the two. Because again, there's nothing neutral in God. It's either one or the other.

How to assess our own intentions? There are marks by which we may readily, easily know whether our works have truly been done for God. They're pretty good. They're, they're practical. One is, remain tranquil and unsuccessful. The first mark is, if we remain tranquil when our undertaking has not been successful, when we see that God has not been pleased to crown our efforts with success, we have no reason on that account to be disturbed. For we know that God does not demand an account as a success or failure of our undertaking, but of the purity of our intention. Not to, not to look for the outcome of everything you do. Did it have the desired outcome, or did it have the right intention behind it? The best right intention behind it. Do you care about how?

It comes out because how is it going to come out the way God wants?

[Music]

Number two, Rejoice at the good done by others. I see trouble on this one. The second mark is to rejoice at the good done by others as if it had been done by ourselves. If we seek nothing but the Divine Glory, we shall not care whether it is promoted by another or by ourselves. To rejoice in the good, good deeds done by others is to enrich ourselves with their good deeds. For were we to rejoice in the sins of our neighbors, we would thereby share in their sins and become punishable in the sight of God. But God is more inclined to reward than to punish us. Now, if his justice obliges him to punish us for rejoicing in the sins of our neighbors, must not his goodness oblige him to reward us for rejoicing in the good deeds of our fellow men? That's a really good, solid piece of advice. Rejoice in the good deeds done by others, then you receive their reward also. If you rejoice because somebody gets in big trouble for some reason, if you're interiorly goody-goody, "Look what happened to them," you're going to share in their sufferings.

[Music]

Keep your purity of intention clean, even in regards to what others do, and rejoice when others do good things. I rejoice anytime I see the Divine will promoted. I'd be hard-pressed to say, "Don't go anywhere else or don't listen to anybody else," because somebody else may say something about not promoting the Divine will, and that would be good. You know, because that's all I care about. I rejoice when the Divine will is promoted.

And three is not to seek praise from others. The third mark is not to desire approbation of our good works, nor gratitude from them, but to remain, even when censored and maltreated, in our usual tranquility of mind, satisfied at having succeeded in pleasing God.

[Music]

Foreign.

[Music]

Don't pay any attention to how you're treated. For Jesus, I'd say, would you say Jesus's intentions were pure during his whole life? And where did it get him? Got him in the passion and the cross. Even though his, his intentions were always pure, you're going to be maltreated, you're going to be talked about. People are going to say, "What's happened to you? You've become super religious because you don't have an interest in the stuff you used to," or whatever. Are you pleasing God in the way that you live? Then don't worry about it. Don't worry what other people think about you. Don't worry what other people say about you. You keep your intention.

[Music]

Where it should be, done strictly for the glory of God. Let's pass on to some excerpts from the volumes. Any questions? Any comments? Roger: Not really, other than this on their period of an intention and what he's talking about, the marks. Jesus, his entire purpose was to come and suffer and die, go to the cross and die. That was his intention. He did that for the Father. He did that to show the Father how much he loved him. So Jesus says, with my model, my purity of intention has to be marked by the same thing. I intend to go to the cross and die. I intend to do that with Jesus. So what does that entail? It entails the same things Jesus went through. That should be my expectation. If I expect anything other than that, then there's something wrong somewhere. There's something wrong with my idea of what that means. So I can't really be disappointed with what I get, as long as it's more trials, more tribulations, more pain, more tests, more, because that's what I'm asking for. That's my intention. Yeah. Anything other than that, who am I doing it for? So remember that this is what divinizes you. If you're having a problem with the idea of being divided, it's because you're still living out of self and not out of pure love for God. Once you start living for pure love of God, once you divide, you obtain that divine perspective, then you will become, start being becoming divinized. Then you'll start carrying the divine qualities.

[Music]

And this is what we want in the Divine will, to have our acts accomplished in a divine manner, to have a divine efficacy upon them. And it will come according to the intention with which you live your life. And that in the first three stages, Jesus, you're traveling with Jesus, doing what he does. And what he, the purpose for the first three stages, in my estimation, is so he can inculcate, engender, create a taste within me that is the same as his taste. I'm taking on his tastes. He doesn't have a taste for sin. He has a taste for suffering. So I'm losing my taste for sin and I'm acquiring a taste for suffering. And my intentions are becoming pure because sin is about self and suffering is about God. So that's what the first three stages are for. And once he sees that you've acquired this taste, then he lifts you up because you've already been qualified and passed the test. Because you're not going to get lifted up to pass a test, you're going to pass the test and then get lifted up. You know, I have, I, I have a deal. I'll be talking to Jesus and God during the day, you know, my dog and, uh, every once in a while my human will pop up and say, "I want to do more." I feel like, you know, he's already doing all, I've already entered into him, you know. So why should I say I want to do more? I think that's my human will taking some, some credit to get back, get back under my feet. You think so? Because what do you want to do, Gene? You want to do everything I can before my God. I think that's wonderful. That's if that's your human will, then it's been demonized. That's right. But God don't want to add more to him. He's doing it for me. Oh, you can, you can never add too much to God. Don't worry about that. That's what I wanted to clarify. For all eternity, you could never add more to God than who he already is. Yeah, that's a great thought, Gene. Again, he says, well, he was saying this, this is Louisa. Well, he was saying this. I don't know how I saw the confessor near Jesus. And the Lord told him, "See, everything you do passes into heaven. Therefore, see with what purity you must operate, thinking that all your steps, words, and works come before my presence. And if they are pure, that is, if they are done for me, I take greatest delight in them and I feel them around me like many messengers that remind me continuously of you. But if they are done for low and earthly purposes, I feel bothered by them." And as he was saying this, he seemed to take his hands and lifting them up to heaven, he said to them, "Your eye always on high. You belong to heaven. Operate for heaven." While I was seeing the confessor and Jesus saying this to him, in my mind, it seemed to me that if one operated in that way, it would happen as when a person has to move out of one house to go to another. What does he do? First, he sends all his things and everything he possesses, and then he goes himself. In the same way, we first send our works to take a place for us in heaven, and then when our time comes, we go ourselves. Or what a beautiful cottage they will make for us. So you live for the earth, or you live for heaven. And I would say that is guided and determined by your faith.

[Music]

Something else that comes to my mind is I was preparing this. There are tens of entries where the confessor gives Louisa the obedience to be crucified, and he does it with his intention. The confessor, and sometimes it's Saint Hannibal, sometimes it's not, but the confessor gives her the obedience to have the intention of being crucified. That's how that obedience works. It comes from the intention of her confessor. And Jesus respects that always. He never negates what the confessor does. He says, "I cannot go against the confessor's intention to make you be crucified. You have to go to him yourself and talk to him about it." Following the intention is through the intention. Louisa, it's almost daily receives the obedience to be crucified.

Volume Two, May 7th, 1899. While I was doing my meditation during the day, Jesus kept making himself seen near me, and he told me, "My person is surrounded by all the works that souls do as by a garment. And the more purity of intention and intensity of love they have, the more splendor they give me, and I will give them more glory. Glory, so much so that on the day of judgment, I will show them to the whole world to let the whole world know how my children have honored me, and how I honored them." Assuming a more afflicted air, he added, "My daughter, what will happen to so many works, even good, done without an upright intention, out of habit and self-interest? What shame will not fall upon them on the day of judgment? And seeing so many works, good in themselves, but made rotten by their intention, so that such that their very actions, instead of rendering honor to them, as they do to many others, will give them shame. In fact, I do not look at the greatness of the works, but at the intention with which they are done. Here is all my attention." You know, I've told you a lot of times, there's.

[Music]

People we say are good. They're good people. Good men. A good man. They just don't go to Mass. And I said, "Of course, what we're doing there is we're saying the definition of good is when something does what it was created to do. That's what being good is. That's what being divine is." And he's saying here that at the greatest of works, even those done not for the pure intention of loving me, I don't recognize them. So be careful when you say, "That's a good deed," or "That's a good person." It's a good deed and it's a good person if that person is doing those things according to the pure love of God that he has. But if they're doing it for themselves, or just because they're good, the acts are good in themselves. There is no reward. They are working to their condemnation. You got that? Not a difficult concept.

[Applause]

How many times people say, "Well, you get 10 indulgences with that." And then we entered to finally, like now, everything's, everything's an indulgence. You know what I thought an indulgence was before I became Catholic? I thought it was something you bought or paid for so that you could go and sin and do what you want to and apply to get out of jail free card. I mean, that's what I thought it was. So I was talking in Belgium. I guess purses will get out of jail pretty hard and go do what you want them. Jesus kept silent for a little while, and I kept thinking about the words she had spoken while I was meditating within my mind, especially on the purity of intention, and on the fact that when one does good to creatures, these same creatures must disappear, making the creature one with the Lord himself, as if creatures did not exist. Then Jesus continued saying to me, "Yet it is so. See, my heart is so very large, but the door is extremely narrow. No one can fill the void of this heart but souls who are detached, naked, and simple. In fact, as you see, since the door is small, any hindrance, even the slightest, that is a shadow of attachment and intention which is not upright, a work done without the purpose of pleasing me, prevents them from entering to delight in my heart. Much love of neighbor enters my heart, but it must be so united to mine as to form one single love, in such a way that one cannot be distinguished from the other. But as far the love, but as for the other love of neighbor which is not transformed into my love, I do not look at it as something that belongs to me." So for love of who do you do what you do? You either do it for God himself. And again, it's done for one or the other. You can't say it's done half for me and half for God because it's not. It's done either for one or the other. Either done for love of God, and because you see God in the person you're doing that good to, or it's not. And there is no good to be found.

November 6th. Purity of intention again. This morning, as adorable Jesus came and transported me outside of myself, he showed me streets full of human flesh. What a ruthless slaughter. It is horrifying to think about it. That he showed me something that happened, something was happening in the air, and many were dying suddenly from it. And I have seen this also since the month of March. I began to pray him, according to my usual way, that he would placate himself and spare his own images torments so cruel, wars so bloody. And since he had the crown of thorns, I removed it from his head to put it on mine, and and this in order to placate him more. Between my highest sorrow, I saw that almost all the thorns broken remained inside his most holy head, so very little was left for me to suffer. Jesus appeared serious, almost without paying attention to me. He transported me again into my bed, and since I had my arms on the cross, suffering the pains of the crucifixion which he himself had shared with me before, he took my arms and united them together, tying them up with a little rope of gold, not paying attention to what this might mean, in order to break that severe air that he had. I said to him, "My most sweet love, I offer you these movements of my body that you yourself had me do, as well as all the others which I may do myself, for the sole purpose of pleasing you and glorifying you. Oh yes, I would like even the movements of my eyelids, of my eyes, and my lips, and of all of myself to be made for the sole purpose of pleasing you alone. Let it be, O good Jesus, that all my bones, my nerves may resound among themselves and with clear voices may attest to you my love." And he said to me, "Everything that is done for the sole purpose of pleasing me shines before me in such a way as to draw my divine gazes, and I like it so much that to those actions, be they even a batting of eyelashes, I give the value as if they were done by me. On the other hand, those other actions, good in themselves and even great, which are not done for me alone, or lack gold, that is, muddy and full of rust, which does not shine, and I don't so much as look at them." And I, O Lord, how easy it is for our actions to get dirty with dust. And he, one should not care about dust because it can be shaken off, but what one must care about is the intention. One of the most powerful things Jesus ever told Louisa.

[Music]

For me regards his intention upon her, upon those who live in the Divine will. He said, "For those who live in the Divine will, I will be doing all of their acts in them, and I will give them all the merit as if they were doing it themselves." You ever read that? Yeah. God will do everything in you, and he will be doing it, of course, in a perfect divine fashion. He's going to give you the merit as if you had initiated it and done it yourself in a divine manner. That's the kind of merit you receive. We don't too often talk about what we receive by living out of the Divine will, but this speaks to us, and this is how powerful the intention is. Jesus has an intention also. His intention is to do everything for the glory of the Father and to spread the Father's love. So if he decides to live your life for you, and then say, "Okay, when I get to heaven, I want to shut my eyes and say, Father, this person lived their life."

[Music]

"According to what I wanted them to do, and they did it on themselves." The Father's not going to say, "Oh, son, didn't you help them just a little bit?" And the son's going to say, "It doesn't matter, Father. I want you to reward them as if they were me doing it myself." And the Father will say, "Okay, let's do that." What a great thing.

Volume Four, April 22nd. Lessons about the imitation of his life. While I was all afflicted and confused and almost without hope of seeing my adorable Jesus again, all of a sudden he came and told me, "Do you know what I want from you? I want you similar to me in everything, both in operating and in the intention. I want you to be respectful with everyone, because respecting everyone gives peace to up to oneself and peace to others, and that you consider yourself the least of all, that you meditate constantly on my teachings within your mind and keep them in your heart so that on the occasion you may find them always ready to be used and put into practice. In some, I want your life to be an outpouring of mine." And while he was saying this, I saw behind the Lord an intense cold and a fire coming down upon Earth, which caused damage to the crops. And I said, "Lord, what are you doing? Poor people." But not paying attention to me, he disappeared. He was chastising the people. He says, "I want you to be similar in me in everything, both in operating and in the intention. Do it as if you were Jesus doing it. Do it as if it was his same intention that you're doing it, whatever it is, and make sure it's all done solely for the love of God. This is how you are to act, and this is how you're supposed to operate." Let's go back for a moment to this one above here. Did you notice something? I, as I was reading this the first time the other day, for a while she saw Jesus all crucified. She wanted to relieve Jesus of his crown of thorns, so she removed the crown of thorns and put it on her own head. And what did she discover? See, this is how he makes us suffer. Most of the thorns were broken off in his own head, and we suffered the stubs. You know, I hope sitting here do this all day and not get a hole in my head because Jesus had already suffered enough to break the spines off the thorns, kind of thorns themselves. Himself. I just think that's a glorious picture. Amen. This is how he makes you suffer. How he lets you suffer. Even though he says, "I want you to suffer my pains," he's going to do his best to reduce them just a little bit, because if we were to suffer them the way he did, we couldn't make it. You're right, Gene. And even more than we could handle.

[Applause]

Yeah, that's good. That's how you think.

[Music]

Roger, please, would you read this next one? I can't have. I even played before September. That volume four, September 9th, 1901. Effectiveness of the intentions. This morning, my adorable Jesus was not coming. Then, while my mind was occupied with considering the mystery of the crowning of thorns, I remembered that other times, as I was occupied with this mystery, the Lord had pleased to remove the crown of thorns from his head and drive it into mine, onto mine. So I said in my interior, "Oh Lord, I am no longer worthy to suffer your thorns." And all of a sudden, he came for just a little and told me, "My daughter, when you suffer my own thorns, you relieve me. And in suffering them yourself, I feel completely free of those pains. When you humble yourself and believe yourself unworthy of suffering them, you repair for the sins of pride which are committed in the world." And I added, "Our Lord, for as many drops as you shed, for as many thorns as you suffered, for as many wounds, so much glory do I intend to give you for as much glory as all the creatures should give you in the sin of pride, if the sin of pride did not exist. And so many graces do I intend to ask of you for all creatures so that this sin be destroyed." While saying this, I saw that Jesus contained the whole world within himself, like a machine containing objects inside. All creatures moved within him, and Jesus moved toward them, and it seemed that Jesus would receive the glory of my intention, and that creatures had returned to him in order to receive the good infiltrated by me for them. I remained stupefied. And he's, and he's seeing my stupefaction, said, "All this seems surprising, doesn't it? What you have done seems a trivial thing, yet it is not so. How much good could be done by repeating this intention." But is not having said this, he disappeared.

[Music]

You know what I think of there is when you said a while ago, how, how simple this is, this entering in and doing the perfect, uh, attacking possession of the perfect version of our lives with Jesus created and left in suspension. But once you're in there doing yours, you can also, what about what this says is, do this. You can take everyone that ever lived from Adam to the last man that will walk the earth, and you can redo their lives because they're in there too. This is what this is talking about. You can gather up everybody's life and present to God the Father the perfect version of their life that Jesus has it suspended within himself. This is the stupefying thing he's talking about. She just did. You can do that. You do that when you enter in in the morning. Start in the afternoon. Uh, the prayer that she says is powerful on the bottom of page three. And I would, I would suggest that you look at it, sort of make it your own. You said, "Oh Lord, for as many drops as you shed, for as many thorns as you suffered, for as many wounds, so much glory do I intend to give you for as much glory as all the creatures should give you if the sin of pride did not exist. And so many graces do I intend to ask of you for all creatures so that this sin be destroyed." Of course, pride is more than just a sin. Pride is the matrix out of which all sin comes from. It's like a, it's like a tapestry in our soul. Pride. It's so big, and out of that tapestry comes our sins, but they all are issued out of this matrix of pride. So asking that God would destroy the sin of pride, a prettier thing to do. I never thought about that. Good. But asking God that God would send his graces on all these people because of your suffering. Do you ever do this? No. I want to give you all the glory for us, all for all the creatures that all creatures should give you if the sin of pride did not exist. If there was no sin in the world, I want to give you praise as if that was so. We know it's not so. And as you're praying, making that prayer, you add to it, "And as many graces do I intend to ask of you for all creatures so that this sin be destroyed."

Volume Four, October 8th, 1901. When the soul operates united with Jesus, her acts have the same effects as his. Operating value of the intention. This morning, I struggled very much in waiting for my adorable Jesus. However, while waiting for him, I did as much as I could to unite everything I was doing in my interior with the interior of Our Lord, intending to give him all the glory and reparation which is which his most holy humanity gave him. Now, while I was doing this, blessed Jesus came and told me, "My daughter, when a soul makes use of my humanity as a means to operate, be it even a thought, a breath, or just any act, they are like as many gems that come out of my humanity and present themselves before the Divinity. And since they come out through my humanity, they have the same effects as my operating when I was on Earth." And I, Our Lord, I feel as though I doubt. How can it be that with the simple intention and opera, with the simple intention and operating, be it even in the smallest things, which considered in themselves are trivial, empty, it seems that the mere intention of union with you and of pleasing you alone fills them and you elevate them in that supreme way, making them appear as something huge? Ah, my daughter, the operating of the creature is empty. But it even, be it even a great work. Rather, it is the union with me and the simple aim of pleasing me that fills it. And since my operating, even be it even a breath, accesses all the works of creatures together in an infinite way, this is why it renders it so great. Besides, don't you know that one who makes use of my humanity as a means to do his actions comes to nourish himself from the fruits of my own humanity and to feed himself from my own food? Furthermore, is it perhaps not the good intention that makes a man holy, and the evil intention that makes him perverted? People don't always do different things, but with the same actions, one is Sanctified and another becomes spirited. Now, while he was saying this, I saw a flourishing tree inside Our Lord, filled with beautiful fruits. And I saw that those souls who operated to please God alone and through his humanity were inside of him upon that tree, and his humanity served as the dwelling place of these souls. But how so very scarce was their number. The tree to me is the cross. The food is the will of God.

And this, this life who makes. Besides, don't you know that one who makes use of my humanity as a means to do his actions comes to nurse himself from the fruits of my own humanity and to feed himself from my own food? Furthermore, is it perhaps not the good intention that makes a man holy, and the evil intention that makes him perverted? Because again, it's not the act. You know, I'm a, I'm a, in my humanity, in my humanity, I don't have any real power. I, I don't. I can't even complete an act the way I intended. I don't have that power. It seldom ever comes out the way I thought it would. The only thing I have control over in the act is my intent. So if it starts out with that intent, that's all God cares about because he knows my weakness and my inability. I'm not able to keep a promise, a covenant, an intent, carry out a complete act. I can't do anything on my own except fail. The only success for me is in my intent. But that's a good thing because he's telling me there that's all that matters. Because he says, "My daughter, the operating of the creature is empty. Be it even a great work. It is the union with me and the simple aim of pleasing me that fills it." So again, you can be the biggest philanthropist in the world and just do all sorts of good and wonderful things, but if you're not doing it for love of God, you're not doing it at all. You're just wasting time. You can't say it's a good act, can you? No. Why? Because it's not done for love of God. So the act in itself has no value in it. I mean, we're all running around like idiots, polluting our lives, doing things, and it's all for naught. That's why I keep telling you to try to have an economy of motion and words and thoughts, because you're going to be responsible for every one of those actions that God initiated in you, and you're going to have to respond as to how you spent it. Did you spend it for good? Did you spend it for evil? Did you spend it for God, or did you spend it for yourself? No words. Is that thing that you did? Does it have any value at all, or does it not? And it's down to one or two things. Either what you did, and you notice I'm sitting here talking to you, I'm so, I'm, I'm thinking about us all arriving in heaven, and you're getting to heaven and not having anything to show God. You know, he says, "Those there are those who say, 'But Lord, Lord, we did all these things in your name. It's miracles.'" And he says, "I don't know who you are. Away from me, you evil doers." That's what I'm thinking about right now. It's how we get to heaven, and we're all ready to explain this wonderful, holy life we lived, and he's going to, in turn, turn around and say, "Hey, what you didn't do out of pure love for me never was done. You were just doing something else down there. You were having yourself a good time, filling yourself with your things, but it was nothing before me." Or, you know, I, I want to have a full life to be able to present to God. And that's going to be acts done in my past, acts redone in his most holy will, so that he can say, "Those are acts that I did, Father John. They're not your acts. They're not only just acts, they're not empty acts. They're my acts. I did them in you." That's the only time they'll ever have value. I mean, this is what even they teach in the church. This is what pure sanctity is. To love God and your neighbor as yourself means to do everything that you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for the glory of God. Why are you being told this? So when we get to heaven, there'll be a criteria by which our acts are judged, and that criteria will be either they were done for love of God, or they were not done at all. What are you going to present to God? I just thought, yeah, okay.

Roger, volume four, October 21st, 1901. The upright intention. Everything which is not done for God is dispersed like dust by a mighty wind. This morning, as blessed Jesus came and seemed he was making a circle with his arms, almost to enclose me inside of it, and while clasping me, he told me, "My daughter, when the soul does everything for me, everything remains closed, enclosed in this circle. Nothing goes out. Be it even a sigh, a heartbeat, or just any movement, everything enters into me, and in me, everything is numbered. And I, as recompense, pour them back into the soul, but all redoubled with grace, in such a way that as the soul pours them once again into me, and I unto her, she acquired, she comes to acquire a surprising capital of grace. All this is my way of delighting, that is, to give the creature what she has given me, as if it were her own, always adding from my own. And one who with his ingratitude prevents me from giving what I want, prevents my innocent delights. Finally, if one does not operate for me, everything goes out of my circle, just dispersed like dust by a mighty wind. Sometimes, if one does not operate for me, even everything goes out of my circle, dispersed like dust by a mighty wind." So again, if you're not doing it for love of God, you're just spinning your wheels. Think about going to purgatory and spending your time picking up grains of dust of all the acts you did in all your life, the wiggling of your toes, blinking of your eyes. You're having to pick up dust for all the purgatory and turn it into something done for God. In purgatory, you'll be picking it up, done for God, a grain of dust at a time. Or you can answer for all of that by the batting of your eyes. And the Divine will, everything is an act done for God. Okay, I think we're going to stop here. Let's have a blessing, please. Through the intercession of Mary Most Holy, may Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. In the name of the Lord, let us go in peace. Have a good week. Thank you.
