Tonight, Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning. This morning, before most of the world woke up, the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran. Missiles struck Thran. Explosions were reported across 24 provinces. Iran retaliated with strikes against Israel and its military bases across the Gulf.
And then around 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, Iranian state media confirmed what US and Israeli officials had been saying for hours. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, the man who held absolute authority over this nation for 36 years, was killed in an Israeli air strike at his office compound in Thran. 36 years of power. The longest-serving authoritarian ruler in the Middle East. No designated successor. Iran tonight has no clear path forward.
Here is what I need you to understand before we go any further. The country we call Iran has another name in your Bible. A name that appears dozens of times across the Old Testament. A name directly connected to one of the most specific prophetic visions in all of scripture. That name is Persia. And 2,500 years ago, while a Jewish exile named Daniel was living inside the Persian Empire, God showed him something about this land, this conflict, and what happens to the rulers of Persia. What Daniel wrote is in your Bible right now, and tonight we are going to read it together.
Before we read a single verse, we need to establish something that most people who quote Daniel never mention. Where was Daniel when he received this vision? He tells us himself. Chapter 8, verse 2. "In the vision, I saw myself in the citadel of Susa in the province of Elam." Susa, ancient Shushin, the winter capital of the Persian Empire. That location on a modern map is the Khuzestan province of southwestern Iran. Daniel was not in Jerusalem when he received this vision. He was not in Babylon. God placed him in the vision physically inside the territory he was about to describe, on the soil at the river in the heart of Persia. The geography of Daniel's prophecy and the geography of today's war are not similar. They are the same place.
Now, what did Daniel see when he arrived at that river in his vision? Daniel 8:3-4. "I looked up and there before me was a ram with two horns standing beside the canal, and the horns were long. One of the horns was longer than the other but grew up later. I watched the ram as it charged toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against it and none could rescue from its power. It did as it pleased and became great." A ram charging west, north, and south, unstoppable. No nation can resist it. It does as it pleases and becomes great.
Daniel didn't know what it meant. So God sent the angel Gabriel to explain it. And here is where this stops being interpretation and becomes something else entirely. Verse 20. "The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia." Read that again. Gabriel does not say this *might* represent Persia. He does not offer multiple interpretations. He names it directly in plain language. The ram is Persia. And if you think that is coincidence, consider this: ancient Persian military records, completely independent of the Bible, tell us that when the Persian king led his army into battle, he wore a ram's head as his military emblem. The guardian spirit of the Persian Empire was depicted as a ram with sharp-pointed horns. Daniel saw a ram. He was describing Persia. He was standing on Iranian soil when he saw it. And God named it through an angel.
But the ram is not the end of the vision. Watch what happens next. Daniel 8:5-7. "As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground. It came toward the two-horned ram and charged at it in great rage. I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking the ram and shattering its two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against it. The goat knocked it to the ground and trampled on it, and none could rescue the ram from its power." A force comes from the west, moving so fast it barely touches the ground. It strikes the ram in great rage, shatters both horns. The ram is powerless. There is no rescue.
Gabriel's identification is immediate. Verse 21: "the shaggy goat is the king of Greece, and the large horn between its eyes is the first king." History confirmed this in 331 BC. Alexander the Great came from the west and conquered the Persian Empire with a speed historians still study today. The ram fell, its two horns. Media and Persia were shattered. The empire ended.
Now I want you to hold two things in your mind at the same time. First, the historical fulfillment is real and not in dispute. Alexander conquered Persia; that happened. Most serious biblical scholars treat Daniel 8 primarily as a prophecy fulfilled in the ancient world. We are going to be honest about that in this investigation. Second, Gabriel told Daniel in verse 17 that this vision concerns "the time of the end." And again in verse 19, "it pertains to the appointed time of the end." That phrase matters. It is why scholars have debated this passage for centuries, and it is why we are reading it tonight. Because what Daniel recorded is a pattern. A dominant power rising in the Persian homeland. A force from the west striking with overwhelming speed. The ruler of Persia struck down. The nation broken. That pattern was fulfilled once in 331 BC. Whether it is echoing again tonight. That is the question this investigation is asking.
Now I want to show you something from Daniel 10 that almost no one is covering right now. Not one of the big prophecy channels, not the mainstream Christian media. This passage is sitting in your Bible, and it changes everything about how you read what is happening in Iran tonight. Daniel 10: An angel comes to Daniel and explains why the answer to his prayer was delayed 21 days. Daniel 10:12-13. "'Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was detained there with the king of Persia.'"
"The prince of the Persian kingdom." Scholars across every major tradition are in agreement. This is not a human leader. This is a demonic spiritual authority, a fallen angel operating over the nation of Persia, powerful enough to physically block an angelic messenger for three full weeks until Michael the Archangel had to intervene. And then Daniel 10:20: the angel says this, "Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come." The prince of Persia, the prince of Greece, not human rulers, spiritual forces assigned over nations. Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12 that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world." Daniel 10 shows us exactly what that looks like. An invisible war over Persia running parallel to every visible conflict in that territory. From Alexander's conquest to the strikes on Tehran this morning, that war did not end in 331 BC. The text gives us no indication it ever stopped.
There is one more passage, and this one I need you to hear carefully. Jeremiah 49:35-36. Elam was an ancient kingdom that was absorbed into Persia. Its territory on a modern map is southwestern Iran. The same region as Daniel's vision at the Ulai River. Here is what God told Jeremiah to write about it. Jeremiah 49:35-36. "'This is what the Lord Almighty says: "See, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might. I will bring against Elam the four winds from the four quarters of heaven. I will scatter them to the four winds, and there will not be a nation where Elam's exiles do not go."'"
"Break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might." In the ancient world, Elam's military power was built on its archers. The bow was not a symbol; it was their primary long-range weapon, the thing that let them project force across distance, the mainstay of their might. Now listen to the exact words President Trump used this morning when he announced Operation Epic Fury: "We are going to destroy their missiles and raise their missile industry to the ground." The primary long-range weapon of modern Iran, the thing that lets them project force across the entire Middle East, the program that Israel and the United States have called the single greatest threat they face. Trump did not say he was going to sanction it or negotiate it away or contain it. He said, "Raise it to the ground." The bow of ancient Elam, the missiles of modern Iran, the same territory, the same function. A prophecy about breaking the primary weapon of the people who inhabit that land. I am not telling you this is the fulfillment of Jeremiah 49. I am showing you the text. I am showing you the headline, and I am letting you think.
Khamenei is dead. He came to power in 1989 when Iran's revolutionary founder, Ayatollah Khomeini, died. For 36 years, he was the final authority over everything: the military, the judiciary, the nuclear program, the proxy armies in Gaza, in Lebanon, in Yemen, in Iraq. He was the longest-serving authoritarian ruler in the Middle East. He had no designated successor, and he was killed this morning at his desk.
The Bible documents a pattern around the sudden removal of rulers who set themselves against God's purposes in the land of Israel. Not every wicked leader falls the same way or on the same timetable, but the pattern is consistent. No human authority, no matter how entrenched, no matter how long it has stood, is beyond the reach of the God who declares the end from the beginning. Pharaoh drowned in the Red Sea, pursuing the people of Israel. Belshazzar killed the same night Daniel read the handwriting on the wall, the very night the Persian forces entered Babylon. Herod struck dead immediately after accepting worship as a god. None of them believed it could happen to them. Belshazzar was so confident that he threw a feast the night Babylon fell. He used the sacred vessels stolen from God's temple as drinking cups while the enemy was already inside his walls. Khamenei was in his office this morning carrying out his assigned duties. That is what Iranian state media reported. He was not hiding. He was not running. He was at his desk.
God said it through Isaiah 46:9-10. "I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is still to come." The end from the beginning, from ancient times what is still to come.
I need to be straight with you. This channel is built on honest investigation, not sensationalism, not telling you what you want to hear. So here is the honest verdict. What we know with certainty: Iran is ancient Persia. That is history, not interpretation. Daniel received his vision on Iranian soil. He tells us the location himself. Gabriel identified the ram as Persia by name. Those are facts.
What we know from the text: Gabriel told Daniel twice that this vision concerns "the time of the end." The prince of Persia in Daniel 10 is a spiritual authority that has operated over this territory for at least 2,500 years. Jeremiah 49 contains a prophecy about breaking the primary weapon of the people of ancient Elam, modern southwestern Iran.
What we don't know: Whether tonight's events are the fulfillment of Daniel 8, or a historical echo of it, or something that precedes a larger fulfillment still to come. Mainstream evangelical scholars like Walvoord argued that Daniel 8 was primarily fulfilled in the ancient world with Alexander's conquest of Persia. That is a serious position, and we are not going to dismiss it.
What we cannot ignore: The same geography, the same pattern: a dominant Persian power, a force from the west, the ruler struck down, the same type of weapon targeted for destruction, and a blood moon rising in four days, the third consecutive one on the Jewish feast of Purim. The same pattern of signs Joel 2:31 says precedes the great and terrible day of the Lord. We are not connecting dots for you. We are showing you the dots and letting you look at them.
If you have never opened the book of Daniel, open it tonight. Read chapter 8. Read chapter 10. Read them in light of what you watched on the news today and make up your own mind. That is all this channel has ever asked you to do. We are not a prophecy entertainment channel. We are not here to tell you the end is definitely here or that you need to be afraid or that everything is about to collapse. We are here to show you what the text actually says, show you the evidence, and trust you to think. Matthew 24:6: Jesus said, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See to it that you are not alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come." Not alarmed, watching, grounded in the text.
