Hello everyone. As I received a lot of messages to share the details about core biomedical engineering jobs in government sectors. Okay.

So, there are many types of jobs available in the government sector in which we need GATE, and in some, we do not need to write the GATE exams. Okay. So, in this video, I will be sharing all the details about what are the government organizations hiring biomedical engineers. Okay. And what are the exams you have to write, and what are the subjects you have to concentrate on.

So, there are two types of jobs: one is contract-based and permanent-based. Permanent-based are very rare. Okay. Mostly, contract-based they will select. So, in contract-based, mostly we don't need to write GATE exams. They will conduct their own institute exams in that. So, all the details I will be covering in this video. So, you have to watch till the end to get all the details about government sector jobs.

The first one where biomedical engineers are hired is All India Institute of Medical Sciences. So, in that, they will provide the role of biomedical engineer or technical officer. Okay. Mostly, they will select freshers if you are going in a contract-based. And if you want to work as a permanent, at least you need one to three years of experience. So, there is no GATE exam needed. They will conduct a separate computer-based test, and in that, you should have the knowledge of UG biomedical basics and basic electronics.

So, what are the subjects you have to concentrate on? That is biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging, sensor transducer, and basic electronics and patient safety regulations. So, questions are very, very basic, like what is P-wave in ECG? What is ionizing radiation? And what is the use of isolation transducer? So, this type of basic questions only they will ask. So, there will be a CBT test plus an interview test, which will be in a technical form. So, the salary package is 45k to 75k per month. So, for preparation, if you are already prepared with the GATE exam, you can go with that. And for further preparation, you can refer to Cromwell's biomedical instrumentation book, and also there is a manual, AIIMS manual, as medical manuals are available on the website, especially ICU, you have to concentrate.

And the next one is PGIMER, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. So, they also hire regularly. Hiring will be there, but it is totally contract. It's not a permanent job. So, vacancy will be 2 to 10 vacancies per year. Okay. So, there is a direct interview. Direct interview in the sense, you have to give a written exam, MCQs. Okay. So, the MCQs are mostly medium to moderate levels. So, almost it depends totally on application-oriented. And also, they will conduct a technical interview. Okay. So, the subjects you have to concentrate on in that is medical device working. Okay. And PMS, that is maintenance, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and especially OT and ICU devices and patient safety. And the questions they ask are too easy. Uh, what is PMS, preventive maintenance? And what is the difference between EEG and ECG? And what is leakage current? Basic questions only they will ask. And salary package will be 5.5 lakh per annum to 9 lakh per annum. The contract range will be one year.

The next is state government colleges and hospitals. So, they also hire biomedical engineers. As a fresher, you can join there. So, one to five vacancies per year are available. So, mostly they prefer freshers, and local language is required for state government. So, the knowledge they expect is hospital equipment knowledge. They expect frequently hiring is available. In hospital equipment, you should know the maintenance and workflow of hospital biomedical waste and patient safety is very, very important. So, how the questions they will raise like how the equipment works, what are the equipment that are in ICUs available. And salary package is 35 to 45k per month.

And the next one is All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. So, in this, freshers are hired very frequently. Or vocational hiring will be there. So, one to three vacancies per application. So, the knowledge you should have is on rehabilitation equipment, electrotherapy devices, orthotic and prosthetic devices. And salary packages will be 44,000 to 1 lakh per month. In some cases, 50,000 to 80,000s are there. So, very basic questions they will ask, like what is TENS? What is ultrasound therapies? Like that, questions only they will ask. And the interview will be like a direct walk-in interview. You can go once the application is open.

The next one is Indian Council of Medical Research. So, in this, two ways they will select: one is fresher, and the other is experienced. Fresher means no GATE exam is needed. And for if you are going for a permanent position, like technical officer, at least one to two years of experience is needed. In this condition, GATE exam is mandatory for this. So, if you are going without GATE, means first they will process the application and interview. You have to attend the interview. Maybe in some cases, written exams will be there. Okay. And if you are going permanent with GATE, you can apply the application, and the same interview process they will conduct. So, in this, the main concept you have to study is biomedical instrumentation, research-based equipment, data acquisition, and quality assurance. The questions are very simple, like what is calibration? What is the difference between clinical and research equipment? These types of questions only they will ask. And the package level will be 56k to 1 lakh per month. And another package level they will give for experienced persons is 67k to 2 lakhs per month. And most of the cases, if you are going as a fresher, they will give like 45k to 75k per month.

The next one is Department of Biotechnology, Research Council of Scientific and Industrial, and other government research labs. So, the hiring will be based on the project. Frequent hiring will be there. 10 to 20 vacancies are available per application. Freshers can also apply. So, in this case, uh, some direct interview they will hire based on if you are going for contract. Okay. If you are going for a permanent position, then definitely GATE, NET, JRF, SSC, UPSC, this type of exam you have to attend. Any one of the exams is enough. And later, they will conduct some technical interview, and you can join the position, whatever. So, if you are going for contract means, you will work as a project assistant. So, the package will be 30 to 35k. And next package is like project scientific. So, in this, you will have 40 to 45k. And another position available is project scientific one. So, in this case, 45 to 67k of salary you will have. Senior project, more than 67k you will have. If you are going for a permanent position, like it will start from basic scientist, like scientist B, C, D. So, for basic scientist, 30 or 35k per month to two lakhs per month you can earn. So, most of the questions they will ask is like research methodology, biomedical devices, and other quality assurance and medical instrumentation. This type of concept you should know very well for this position.

The next one is HSCC India Limited. So, this is a public sector undertaking. So, very occasional hiring will be there, 5 to 15. So, regular hiring you can't see in this organization. So, they hire experienced persons, at least two to three years of experience. What actually they expect is medical device. So, how you know about medical device standards, and what are the new medical devices? How you will purchase the medical device? And the questions will be like how you will purchase the medical device. What are the types of maintenance are there? Like that type of questions you will have. So, this is permanent, and the role will be executive engineer, first role. So, in that case, you will get 60k to 80k of salary. Next is assistant manager, 80k to 1 lakh of salary. For manager, at least you should have more than 3 years of experience. So, in this case, 1 lakh to 1.5 lakhs of salary you will have.

The next one is government healthcare bodies and regulatory. So, in this case, very irregular hiring will be there. So, vacancies also depend upon the state. So, this is like direct application and interview, and the work will be like contract-based. Okay. So, 1 to 3 years of work you will have in a contract base. If you are doing well, means you can renew. Then the salaries will be like, if you are working like a biomedical engineer, means 30 to 45k of salaries you will have. Senior biomedical engineer, 45 to 65k. If you are working as a district biomedical engineer or regular biomedical engineer, 45 to 65k of salary you will have, or depends upon the vacancies, differs for each state.

Next is State PSC, Public Service Commission. So, in this, you will be hired as a junior engineer or assistant engineer. Very rare hiring for biomedical. So, you should know the knowledge of core biomedical subjects and general knowledge. So, in this case, you have to attend the PSC exam plus interview, technical interview they will conduct, you have to attend that. Okay. So, in this case, you will have salary package 45k to 65k.

The next one is DRDO and ISRO type of hiring. So, in this, you have to do the GATE exam. So, you will be hired as a scientist. If you are going for DRDO, then you concentrate on subjects like biomedical instrumentation, bio-signal processing, medical image processing, that type of things for GATE. And if you are going for ISRO, you concentrate on like life science, life science in space. So, these two positions are permanent positions, and you have to work hard to get into this space. And you will get the salary of 50k as an initial or 55, 56 based on whatever role you are getting in the research field. And as promotion increases, your salary will also be increased.

The next is Government PSU. So, till now, whatever we have saw is all core biomedical engineer. There are some cases, even if you are a biomedical engineer, you can work in other government sectors where they will hire biomedical under instrumentation or electronics. So, in this case, it will be better if you have done GATE Instrumentation. If you have done GATE Biomedical also, no issues.
