Most of week six is in the books, and it started back on Thursday night between the Eagles and Giants. The birds entered this game as seven-point favorites and were coming off of a loss against the Broncos in week five, in which they blew a 14-point lead in the second half and in a game where Denver scored 18 unanswered to end the game. Needless to say, I thought the Eagles were going to come out firing and ready to play, and that the team would be fired up on a short week. But that wasn't the case at all.
The Eagles offense looked lethargic at times, which has been an ongoing thing all year. Now, earlier in the year, I was willing to give it time, and I thought that they'd figure it out, but we're a third of the way through the season, and they've been outgained in every game, and now we can have that conversation and acknowledge it's a problem. And aside from outright firing Kevin Pulo, I don't know what the answer is for the birds. They're still four and two, but it's ugly and Philly right now.
With the Giants, this is a game that fans have been waiting for for years. From week 1 of 2023 through week three of 2025, this team was 9 and 28 in those 37 games, and they're two in one since. Jackson Dart looked great in this game and did a great job of improvising and making plays without putting the ball in harm's way. And this was all without an elite receiver in Malik Neighbors. Camcoo is a social media darling with his physical style of play. And I know we've criticized the Giants before, more specifically GM Joe Sheen with his draft classes, but the 2025 draft class for the Giants, which also features pass rusher Abdul Carter, looks really good 6 weeks in.
The Jets and Broncos played in London on Sunday morning, and it was certainly one of the games of the 2025 regular season. The final score was 13 to 1, and the Jets are now 0 and 6. I don't have really anything positive to say about the Jets after this game, offensively at least. They were held to just 82 yards and Justin Fields was sacked nine times. And because the sack yards totaled 55 yards lost while Justin Fields had just 45 yards passing, the Jets actually had -10 net yards passing in week six. And unfortunately, I thought to myself during this game, how do Jets fans do this every week? Because this was awful. And the Aaron Glenn one and done conversation is heating up and rightfully so.
Now with the Broncos, a win across the pond is a win. This obviously wasn't a pretty win, but 4-2 is 4-2 no matter how you slice it. I wouldn't say this was a great game for Denver either, as they were in a position to be able to lose the game despite the defensive dominance. But as we always say, winning cures everything. I do think there were some questionable play calls from Shawn Payeyton this game, specifically the wide receiver screens and the one fullback run on third and 10, but you can't afford to slip up in the AFC West and still hope to win the division. And I know people get their jokes in about the Jets meaning just end the season, but they're still a professional team and they're paid to make plays and win games and a win is a win and there's no major takeaways for Denver, but again, never apologized for winning a game in the National Football League.
The Patriots defeated the Saints in the Big Easy with a score of 25 to 9. And I'm sure there were some people that heading into this game kind of dismissed this game, but it was a really good game and I think there's a chance the Saints have their quarterback. Spencer Rattler played well and obviously we knew heading into the year that this wasn't going to be a great season for the Saints record-wise, but I really encourage people to watch Spencer Rattler play because more often than not, it's good. I know the statline in this game wasn't great from Rattler, but my takeaway is the next 11 games for New Orleans is going to be very interesting because there's not a lot of great quarterback play in college right now and Rattler is only 25 years old. With a better team around him, this is definitely a conversation worth having.
Now, for the Patriots, Drake May is undoubtedly the guy. And like we just said with Rattler, the box score does not do it justice. New England is now 4-2 and they play at Tennessee and home against Cleveland in their next two games. And there's a real chance this team starts out 6-2. This was a huge letdown spot coming off of an emotionally high win against the Bills. And the most important thing is they took care of business. Also, if you watched this game, then you know it's not an exaggeration to say the referees in this game were all-time bad.
Pittsburgh defeated Cleveland 23 to 9, and the Browns' streak of not scoring 18 points extends another week. The last time this team scored more than 18 points was the Jamus Monday night game last year, in which Jerry Judy had a big return to Denver. Starting Dylan Gabriel in London against a Brian Flores defense and then against the Steelers in Pittsburgh in back-to-back weeks is a brutal start to an NFL career. And I'm not surprised to see the Browns lose both games. But 58 passing attempts in your third-round rookie quarterback's second career game is not exactly setting him up for success. I don't have a lot of positive things to say about the Browns at this point because they're now 4 and 9 since the start of the 2024 season, and it's not like things are going to get that much better by season's end.
With the Steelers, I would argue this game was in some ways a must-win. And the reason for that, because I know that's a very loud statement for a week six game against Cleveland, but the reason is for as much as the Steelers hate the Ravens, and I get it. I live in Maryland. I hear both sides of the rivalry regularly. They know the Ravens probably are not going to finish the year five and 12. And you need to capitalize while Lamar Jackson is out and while they're losing games, and Pittsburgh did. Aaron Rogers also looked good in this game. DK Metaf looked good. And this was a rare stress-free Steelers win. And I think this game settled who's the best pass rusher in the division as well, and it's Jaylen Ramsey, as he had two sacks in a dominant Steelers defensive performance.
The Rams beat the Ravens 17 to 3. And I know one and five is obviously bad, especially for a team who had Super Bowl aspirations entering the year like the Ravens did, but this was the second time all season they allowed less than 37 points. If you were playing a playoff team with a backup quarterback like the Ravens did in this game, fighting an uphill battle would be a lot easier than trying to win a game like this. Cooper Rush was eventually benched, and the Ravens lost the turnover battle 3 to 1. And you get the idea of how the day was for Baltimore. And I credit the defense for showing up the way they did in this game because they are virtually nothing without Lamar Jackson. They play home against the Bears and not Miami off of their week seven buy. And if Lamar is back, then those two games will be extremely telling for the 2025 Ravens.
For the Rams, after a missed 26-yd field goal in the first quarter, I thought they were going to be in a dogfight and that's how their day was going to go. And while they didn't look great in this game and receiver Puka Nakua also went down in this game and who is going to be fine long term, by the way, they got the win, which is what matters most. The Rams kind of fly under the radar for how they start seasons, which is usually slower than other teams. So even though they haven't looked like the true Los Angeles Rams we expect for a lot of 2025, they're still 4-2. The biggest thing they need to do is improve the special teams play and work on the consistency of the offensive side of the football outside of number 12.
The Seahawks played the Jags in week six, and this was a game I was very much looking forward to because entering the game, the Seahawks were second in EPA per passing play offensively, and the Jags were fourth in EPA per passing play defensively. Strength on strength, who would win? And Sam Darnold threw for 295 yards in this game along with two passing touchdowns. And Jackson Smith Ajiga had 162 receiving yards and as far as I'm concerned, is a top five receiver currently in the NFL. I'll let you guys debate in the comments, but JSN is playing on another level this year. And the Seahawks pass protection has looked a lot better throughout 2025. And while there will always be questions about if Sam Darnold will revert to pumpkin Darnold with the season on the line, he's looked great this year. And there is a possibility the Seahawks have a franchise quarterback at just 28 years old.
The Jags were coming off of a big win against the Chiefs on Monday night and averaged just 3.1 yards per carry in this game. Trevor Lawrence was also sacked seven times, and in a lot of ways, that's what you need to know from this game for the Jags. Their offensive line was horrendous all throughout, but all things considered, I thought Trevor Lawrence played well within this game. I know 12 points is 12 points, but there's only so much one player can do. Does this lost thing for the Jags? Absolutely. But if you would have said that 6 weeks in they'd be 4-2 with wins over the Texans, 49ers on the road, and the Chiefs, Jags fans would make that trade-off every single time. Tough day at the office, but I think they'll be fine in the long run.
The Panthers defeated the Cowboys 30 to 27 in week six, and I've been very critical of this team in the past. But credit to the Panthers for winning these last two games the way they have. This team has went through it all over the past few years, and I couldn't be happier for this team in this city to experience back-to-back wins. Bryce Young looked good in this game, which was also great to see. And if I have any takeaway for the Panthers, it's that they cannot go back to Chuba Hubbard after back-to-back 200 plus total yard performances from Rico Dowel. Dowel had over 180 yards rushing in this game. And whether the quarterback is Bryce Young or Josh Allen, a run game is always a quarterback's best friend. T-Mac also had two touchdowns. And I know the interception bounced off of T-Mac's hands, but a win is a win. That's what we're going for here. And this was everything Panthers fans have wanted to see for the past few years and good for them.
With Dallas, you're 23 and 1 now after this game and allowed over 400 yards to the Carolina Panthers. You were outgained by over 110 yards in a game where your quarterback threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns and you averaged just 1.6 yards per rushing attempt. This is an extremely frustrating loss because there wasn't a whole lot more Dak Prescott and especially George Pickins could do in this game. This should have been a game where George Pickins is getting on the plane, high-fiving all of his teammates because he knows after a performance like this in a contract year that an eventual $30 million per year contract will come his way. Maybe not this week, but certainly next offseason at the latest in addition to celebrating the win, but it didn't. And the Cowboys have allowed 30 or more points in four of their six games. And I think it's simple. Matty RFL needs to go.
The Chargers had dropped back-to-back games as they entered the week six Miami game coming off losses to the Giants and Commanders. And winning this game and improving to 4-2 was critical, and they survived as Justin Herbert led a game-winning drive to lead LA past Miami 29 to 27. Having said that, the Chargers defense has been worrisome over the past few weeks, and it'll be interesting to see once Khalil Mack comes back just how much they improve with him on the field. I like Jesse Mentor a lot as a defensive mind, but Devon Achan nearly had 130 yards and two touchdowns, and the defense allowed 14th quarter points, including a touchdown to put them down 27 to 26 with less than a minute to play. I personally think there's a huge difference between 4 and two and three and three despite it only being a game, at least from a fan standpoint. But they play the Colts next week, and that's not going to be an easy game.
Now with Miami, Tua threw three interceptions. And while he did throw three interceptions, he also led the team back in the fourth quarter and put them in a position to win. And I think in a lot of ways, this game summarizes the 2025 Dolphin season. They were close, and you would think 27 points would be enough to secure a win at home, but it wasn't. And we've said this in previous recaps, but changes are going to happen soon in Miami. And we don't know when. Whether it's while you're watching this video or at the end of the season, this game summarizes the last few years for the Dolphins, and it's routinely coming up short.
Colts Cardinals is up, and Indy improved to 5-1 with a 31 to 27 win over Arizona. And this was a very weird game even before it started for the Colts, as Travarious Words suffered a concussion in pregame warm-ups and Anthony Richardson fractured his orbital bone when he had an issue with a rubber-like band. But like we all expected in July when this game was on the calendar, 58 total points were scored between teams led by Daniel Jones and Jacobe Brassette. With Indy, the offense looked good, and 6 weeks in, Jonathan Taylor would be my offensive player of the year. And Tyler Warren would also be in my top three for offensive rookie of the year. This will be a team nobody wants to play in the postseason. And a bonus for the Colts, Seattle beat Jacksonville. It was a long day for the Colts defense as Jacobe Brassette threw for over 300 yards, but not every win is going to be absolute cinema.
The Cardinals are now two and four, and I know Kyler Murray missed this game, and that was a very late injury announcement, as it was announced Saturday night he was going to miss this game. But this type of game to me summarizes the Jonathan Ganon era, losing games against good teams. You'll be close a lot of the time, but you also know the end result a lot of the time for that matter, too. And your backup quarterback put up 27 points on the road. And for a defensive coach, it still wasn't enough. And I truly believe the beginning of the end has already started in the desert.
The Raiders beat the Titans in Vegas 20 to 10. And this was yet another very ugly game for the Titans. They had six first half possessions in this game, and four ended in punts. One ended in a strip sack, and one ended in an interception. The Titans won in week five over the Cardinals, and I was happy for Titans fans to get a win, but Titans fans can also acknowledge that was a very abnormal win, to put it kindly. And this game was more of who they are under this current coaching staff. And there's a reason they were beat by double digits by another one and four team. The only way it makes sense for Brian Callahan to continue to stay around at this point is to keep losing to have back-to-back number one overall picks. This roster isn't great, obviously, but the coaching staff is horrendous, too. And there's no real takeaway for Tennessee other than I think there's a very real chance they have back-to-back number one picks.
The Raiders won this game, but I wouldn't say this was a win you write home about. Gino threw another bad interception, and they averaged just 2.1 yards per carry. And if you didn't know, they had 68 rushing yards on 32 rushing attempts. This was similar to the Jets Broncos game to kick off the Sunday in week six, and it was one of the games played in the 2025 regular season. The Raiders play at Kansas City in week seven, and division teams know each other best. So, if you are a Raiders fan and you want to talk yourself into beating the Chiefs next week, be my guest. But this was an ugly win. But as the old saying goes, an ugly win is always better than a pretty loss. Just win, baby.
The Packers beat the Joe Flaco led Bengals 27 to 18. And I don't think the Bengals are going to win six or seven games in a row with Joe Flaco. But I do think there is something to build off of and for fans to legitimately get excited about from this game. Cincinnati was shut out in the first half, and they looked pretty much like they have since Joe Burrow went down, outside of the fourth quarter against the Lions. But Joe Flaco was only sacked one time in this game, and Jamar Chase had a very impressive touchdown catch when it mattered. And if Flaco is on, that the Bengals can be a very pesky team. They play the Jets and Bears in two out of their next three games. And if they can win two of those, or even the Steelers on Thursday, they'll be four and five entering their week 10 buy. I'm not buying Bengal stock right now, but I'm certainly not selling every last share I have either. And I think that's a lot more positive for Cincinnati in the skyline loving folk than we've discussed in the past few weeks.
With Green Bay, this had the recipe of the Browns game all over again, especially in the first half. But they kept feeding Josh Jacobs, and we even saw a glimpse of what Matthew Golden can be at the NFL level once he is fed the football. This game was probably a little more stressful than Packers fans would have liked, especially with how dominant the first half was, but there was a lot of positive to take away offensively in week six for Green Bay. And with 12 games left to play for the Packers, because remember they had a week five buy, this team has a very high ceiling.
The Bucks defeated the 49ers 30-19. And my biggest takeaway for the 49ers is that their season is effectively over. It was announced Fred Warner both dislocated and broke his ankle in week six. And it was a season-ending injury. It was already a tall task to ask of the 49ers defense to do everything they've been doing without Nick Bosa, a former defensive player of the year. But losing both Warner and Bosa is a death sentence for the season. I love Fred and wish him the best in his recovery. And the same goes to every other player who was hurt in week six, of course. But within this game, the 49ers offensive line was also bad. And I would argue it was a miracle they put up 19 points in the first place. Rock party, Ricky Pieraw, and George KD will all be coming back soon. But this team is going to have to put up 25 plus points, hell, maybe even 27 plus points nearly every week to be in a position to win. Just an absolutely brutal game for the 49ers.
Now, with the Bucks, Baker Mayfield may be the most fun quarterback to root for if he's on your team. He's tough as nails, and you're truly never out of the game with him. And this was the second straight game the Bucks put up 30 plus points. And what I think was impressive within this game was how many guys the Bucks had out offensively. Tampa is 5-1, and the third down run, you know, the run if you watched this game, changed this game. And the Bucks have one of the games that I'm looking most forward to out of any game in the NFL regular season this year, in week seven when they go to play the Lions on Monday night.
