You know, Supergirl is a total financial flop and box office disaster when you have Warner Brothers CEO David Zastasov coming out multiple times to do damage control for this movie, saying things like he has no concerns over this film and is already beginning to get very defensive and aggressive.
After many Hollywood trades, many well-known Hollywood trades recently came out and announced that Supergirl is on track to lose hund00 million dollars or more and how you have now James Gunn, Millie Alco, and now David Zaslov really, you know, going against the general public, you know, speaking out, breaking silence about the trades, you know, making those announcements and getting very angry over the fact that essentially this movie's financial status is getting exposed and it is indeed going viral.
For many fans out there, for many movie goers out there that really just caught wind of the negativity surrounding this movie. And rightfully so, because we know that there's a lot of things wrong with this movie when it comes to the terms of the screenplay, when it comes to the story, the overall structure of the film. Now, there's a lot of things going on right now with James Cunn's uh DC Universe, which we all know that Warner Brothers and DC Studios right now, they are in panic mode over whether or not Man of Tomorrow now is going to be a success because of any fear of losing momentum over Supergirl's box office disaster. Essentially, that is up for discussion. And well, let's get into this now.
With of course the fact that with Supergirl's box office disaster getting worse on a daily basis and at a rapid rate due to word of mouth and the negative reviews and how it's set to lose more than hund00 million now over Warner Brothers CEO David Zaslov wasted no time to do damage control again. Now for a third time after the trades put out the news of the financial loss for Supergirl. Now Zaslov delivered the following.
"First things first, it's not just irresponsible, but it's unprofessional for the trades to go jumping to any s sort of conclusions out there about our financial status with this movie. We have a wonderful script on our hands and an amazing cast and lead like Millie Alco, who took the role of Supergirl and Cara Zarell. We here at WB believe James Gunn is being wrongfully criticized too soon due to social media outrage and unfortunate into an unfortunate case of misogyny and sexism that is still very much a thing sadly in this country and used against our industry. When you have a movie as big as and important as Supergirl, we absolutely knew going into this that we would have to deal with some level of that noise. But never did we expect responsible trades and show business to go claiming that we have a financial loss on our hands this soon. I still have no concerns about our film, our project that we worked so hard on. We all trust and believe in James Gunn and what Anna was able to build with the screenplay. And so when James approved the story, when he approved that screenplay, I was like, 'Okay, let's do this.' We were very confident in this. And I have no regrets despite all the noise going around right now because that's just a minority. But it's unprofessional, absolutely unprofessional to go claiming that we are dealing with a $100 million loss or more on our hands here at WB and DC Studios. It's reckless behavior to go claiming something like that. I think people need to realize that we do have a silent majority that absolutely loves this mo that actually absolutely love this movie that don't feel the need to leave a positive review on social media."
Hey guys, let me just stop there real quick. Now he's beginning to sound like Bob Iger, the previous Disney CEO before Josh Demorro took over where they basically pulled that little thing into the argument where they always say there's a silent majority that doesn't really want to leave a review or doesn't want to really leave a positive review out there or they're afraid to in fear of being ridiculed. All this nonsense. It's nothing more than a way to back themselves up from the fact that this movie is universally rejected for multiple valid reasons. And I pointed out the biggest reason of all for starters. I think the reason had a lot to do with the fact that this movie had no momentum going into it. That was number one. Number two was the story was very lackluster. And number three, word of mouth through both the Hollywood trades this time and the fans. It's quite the anomaly, as I like to say, for James Gun's DC universe and for WB in general, because these are the same Hollywood trades that actually loved Snow White. They loved that movie. They propped it up like No Tomorrow in 2025. And they are the same trades like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, you name it, that are tearing down this movie left and right.
So he continues, "And so we don't really have a true and accurate contrast between a negative and positive reception. I think it's also un unacceptable to claim that the noise has nothing to do with misogyny because upon further research, what we concluded here at WB is that most of the noise is just coming from those who have not seen this movie. The movie goes, the movie goers should lend some support and respect to Millie Alco, James Gun, the rest of the entire team that made the masterpiece possible. Again, to be clear, we don't have a financial failure on our hands just yet. AB: Absolutely not. It's very much a disservice to this industry when you have once credible trades making those claims so soon over how much we lost with this project. So, I am asking everyone to let the movie speak for itself. See this film while you still can, while it's still on the big screen, because that's the only true way to see a Supergirl film. Fans of Mr. Gun and the DC Universe owe it to themselves to make this one of our best films under Mr. Gun's universe that will serve as a launchpad for Man of Tomorrow, which we are proud to announce that we will be promoting that movie in the very near future, but the misogyny and sexism just needs to come to a halt."
Now, I don't know about you guys, all right, about Man of Tomorrow, it seems like that they're trying to use that as a little way of leverage to say that you have to go see this movie to learn something about Man of Tomorrow once that arrives in July of next year because we all know that Supergirl is going to be a very important role in that film. Exactly how, who knows? Might have something to do with Brainiac. We'll have to wait and see.
But again, the fact that you have WB CEO David Zasslov going out of his way to say that there's no financial loss here, that this movie's, you know, doing so well, that it's a masterpiece, which is just an utter lie. I think that there's a lot of things wrong with this movie. You guys, some of you may have had some fun with this movie or found it entertaining. Sure. But the majority out there, believe me on this, when you look at all the critics, the fans, the comed movie goers combined, the Rotten Tomato score, just everything in the grand scheme of things, the majority of people out there dislike this movie in many different ways as far as the theme goes, the acting in some cases, the pacing, the length of the movie, uh the overall structure of the story, the screenplay. I mean, there's just so many things to go over about this movie that's so wrong. And don't even get me started on the ending of this movie, which really came out of left field. I'll put it at that.
But one thing about this for sure is that James Gun's DC universe so far, it looks like it's coming to a big halt because I think what's going to happen after Man of Tomorrow, you're not going to get many official announcements of movies going into production and getting ready to film. You're going to get a wave of movies going into development and staying in development. So, I think a lot of people need to realize that a movie in development does not necessarily mean it's going to go into production. So, that's one thing that really needs to be clear to a lot of people out there. So, you have a lot of movies by James Gun that are in development, most of which are not going to make it into production.
