You know, there's this wild theory blowing up online. In Spider-Man movies and comics, Peter Parker's best friend almost always ends up turning into a villain. But here's the question. Why hasn't Ned become one yet?
Remember in No Way Home when he looks Peter dead in the eye and says, "And I promise you, I won't turn into a super villain and try to kill you." Yeah, that line hits different when you realize what might be coming.
Think about it. Ned could actually have the potential. We already saw him open portals with ease. Something Doctor Strange struggled with when he first started. Even America Chavez, who literally has multiverse powers, doesn't just snap her fingers and make it happen. And when Strange asks him how he did it, Ned says, "My my nana says that we have it in our family. And sometimes I get these tinglings in my hand."
Now add this twist. In the comics, Ned Leeds was the very first Hobgoblin, and the guy used chaos magic. Even crazier, Ned's blue and yellow jacket in the movies perfectly matches Hobgoblin's color scheme. So maybe that promise he made Peter wasn't a joke after all.
