Oh, Ellen, I'm so glad to see you. You look fabulous.
You look fabulous, too. And you're going to be the best Oscar host ever.
I'M TELL [cheering] I'm going to have fun. [applause] I'll tell you that.
Hey, speaking of Oscars, I just got back from the Tomcat uh nuptils.
Did you Did you go? [cheering]
Yes. I I don't want to make you feel jealous, but once I got Once I got past the moat and the ushers with the stun guns, we had a great time. Brook Shields gave me some happy pills as Tom likes to call them and that's where the party really started. But Katie looked beautiful. She was in Armani and because it was a special occasion, Tom let her take the handcuffs off. [cheering]
Oh heavens, they're scared for you now. They're scared.
Oh no. And when they said, "Is there anyone here who had any reason why these people shouldn't be joined in Matrimony?" You could hear Katie's parents screaming from the dungeon, but they seemed fine at the reception, so I let that go. [laughter]
So, it's odd that you weren't invited. That is so weird that [laughter]
I'm funny that way. I'm I'm a wedding crasher myself, you know.
Oh my god. So, let's let's talk about how adorable this is. And you we both have French bulldogs. And yours is uh what's yours? Mabel.
Mabel.
And how how old is Mabel? Mabel is now uh how old is she?
She's about 10 months old.
And that's in recent No, that's She's very young there. About five. Yeah. Six months. But she's, as you see, she's part jack rabbit.
Yeah. [clears throat]
And there she is. She disappeared for a week and sent us this postcard. [laughter]
Oh god, she's cute.
Oh, she's adorable. But she she is uh very highly strong.
Oh, really?
Yeah. Do you have an obs she has sort of a She's obsessively licking everything. Licking all the time. You know, I want to say you got the job, you know, calm down.
But and then she had we [cheering] found out [applause]
we found out that she has um she has 26 different allergies.
And we've had to switch her food three or four times. And we've now gone to they recently gave us kangaroo.
I'm not kidding. You're not kidding.
Kangaroo chow, you know, and I I guess it's very, you know, mild kangaroo. And, you know, except for the bouncing, it's, you know, it's been fine. The bouncing and the licking, you know, it's she's like a little hooker.
Oh.
Uh, so tell me about uh Butley. I I can't wait to see it. I I have not had a chance to to see it, but it sounds
well. It's it's a beautiful play written by Simon Gray. It was done in the in the early 70s with Alan Bates on Broadway, and this is the first revival of it. It's a it's a sort of a a character study of this British university professor who is rather self-destructive, and it's uh he's his relationships are falling apart, and it's sort of watching this man spiral out of control. Some of it is some of it is very witty and literate and and and amusing, but as it goes along it gets it gets darker and so audiences some people who only know me from something like The Bird Cage or the producers would might be a little surprised by the nature of of the play.
And all right, Nathan, uh you're hilarious and uh you can see Nathan in the Broadway show Butley at the Booth Theater. Uh but don't laugh at it unless
