Our Vegan Friend Is A Real Karen πŸ˜’πŸ’” Reddit Stories

Our vegan friend is a real Karen. My friend Lauren, 46f, is a vegan and doesn't drink. And just to avoid her, I've stopped going out. I don't want to spend money on food I don't enjoy or be lectured about alcohol.

Lauren asked why I keep bailing, so I explained, "Your choices limit mine. I don't go out often and want to enjoy it when I do. If I'm in the mood for a steak and a VOD catonic, I don't want to feel judged. If I want a salad and water, I'll join you, or we can hang out at the beach during the day."

While I respect her choices, they often limit our group's outings. Our food options are already limited, and finding places where she can eat is difficult. Additionally, she gets upset if anyone eats obvious meat, like a hamburger, and sends us videos on the harmful effects of alcohol if we order drinks.

She didn't like my opinion and said friendship should be about enjoying each other's company. I suggested she eat first and join us, or we could alternate places. She refused, saying she wouldn't watch people eat meat. I told her I wasn't catering to her needs every time.

Later, a mutual friend texted me admitting being fed up by her attempt to control us.
